I sold some units yesterday from one of my bleeding portfolio at lost hoping to jump into Diamond. I thought it was an opportunity to recover my lost when Diamond was selling at N1.16. I was lucky by refusing to obey my itching fingers. I only bought less than 30000 units and waited for today to load. Na to sit down wait be dat till E reach N0.50-N0.60 junction... |
GAZZUZZ:Thanks GAZZUZZ. I did a scan yesterday and it returned Code p1135. Of course it is related to fuel pressure as you said but it is still not clear to what part to change. Your professional advice will be highly appreciated before I proceed with the repairs. |
BMZK:@GAZZUZ ,please any idea on the above? |
@GAZZUZ, I just came back yesterday from a long journey and i realized my car (toyota avalon 2003) stopped firing after i covered to 1st 100km. The car was behaving like the fuel was bad or empty or bad fuel pump. When the car came to near stop, i had to park hoping to find a mechanic. When i could not find any mechanic, i started the car again and was surprised it was moving fine for the next 50km. When i understood OFF/ON the engine solves temporary the problem, all i needed to do when it starts misfiring is to put the gear to neutral, off the engine and restart it again without stopping in order to proceed with my journey.I was able to make my journey of over 1000km using that trick. Now that i am in town the car is moving fine since i don't have to cover long distance but i know the problem has not been resolved. Please do you have any idea what could be the cause of this problem ? |

The founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), Mr. Tony Elumelu, yesterday said Nigeria’s economy is headed in the right direction, describing 2016 as a terrible year for the economy. Elumelu, who said this in an interview monitored on CNN yesterday, also disclosed that his Group would in the next few weeks, close a $2.5 billion oil asset acquisition deal in the country. According to him, “things are changing in Nigeria and it appears our economic managers have finally gotten a strong grip on the economy.” The Chairman of the United Bank for Africa Plc, however, pointed out that there was still room for improvement, stressing that as an investor in several sectors in the Nigerian economy, “I see improvement and I am optimistic about the future.” “Oil prices going up is good and encouraging. Our group is in the process of closing a $2.5 billion oil asset acquisition in the country. We are doing this as a demonstration of confidence in the economy. If the economy was not good or improving, we would not be contemplating that “The truth is that in 2016, we had a bit of challenge with capital control, but in 2018, we don’t have such any more. Access to dollar is now easy. I speak as someone who invests significantly in Nigeria. “Raising $2.5 billion for investment would not come through if the foreign investors were scared about capital control,” he explained. According to Elumelu who is also the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, a lot of investors outside the country don’t have enough information about Nigeria. He stressed the need for policymakers to continue to take steps towards improving Ease of Doing business in the country so as to attract more capital inflow. “I am a long-term investor, i was born in Africa and I made my money in Africa and i am happy to invest in Nigeria and other African countries. “Today we have investments in 23 African countries. Ultimately, we keep making investments because it helps in creating wealth,” he added. When asked about the sectors he is excited about, Elumelu said: “I am excited about oil and gas and I am excited in banking, most importantly, power. Power is important for me because Nigeria and Africa needs power to develop. “Our group is the largest generator of electricity in Nigeria. But we can do more. We just need the debt we are owed in that sector. So, If I was to complain, I would complain about the debts owed us as power operator. “In other sectors, I think things are improving. I think the CBN particularly has gotten the grip on the economy and a lot of windows and markets have been created for investors who want to bring in money into Nigeria and those who want to take out money from the country. We should keep encouraging investors because we need massive investments in Nigeria to develop, to help create employment for our young ones and to help us alleviate poverty,” he added. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/10/23/worst-days-over-for-nigerias-economy-says-elumelu/?amp&fbclid=IwAR30j3OIgYfMCQPfXG3Cm8bfTYhWRcP82PUQN7Znbh2rF5lu2xCmCpNsmAk |

Eni & Shell: Italian court convicts two in Nigeria oil corruption case A Milan judge on Thursday sentenced two men to four years in prison in the first ruling of a corruption case involving oil giants Eni and Shell in Nigeria, a judicial source said. The judge also ordered the seizure of millions of dollars and Swiss francs from the pair, who acted as go-betweens in the attribution of Nigerian oil exploration rights worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Nigerian Emeka Obi and Italian Gianluca Di Nardo had requested an accelerated trial, which took place behind closed doors and allowed for lighter penalties if they were found guilty. The main trial of Eni and Shell for corruption opened in Milan in the spring. Both oil companies deny any wrongdoing. Italian magistrates suspect the two oil groups used bribes to obtain rights in 2011 to OPL245, an offshore oil block estimated to hold nine billion barrels of crude, for $1.3 billion (1.1 billion euros). Of that amount, $1.092 billion is believed to represent bribes paid to a London bank account that ended up going to various Nigerian politicians, including former oil minister Dan Etete. The Nigerian government received only $210 million. On Thursday, the Italian judge ordered $98.4 million seized from Obi, and 21 million Swiss francs ($21.8 million, 18.6 million euros) from Di Nardo after finding them guilty of “international corruption”. Their four-year prison sentences were slightly less than the two five-year terms sought by the prosecutor. But Barnaby Pace, a campaigner at anti-corruption group Global Witness, nevertheless hailed the convictions. “Today sees the first men fall in the murky Malabu scandal,” he said in a statement issued Thursday. “As Shell and Eni’s trial looms, time will tell whether it’s just the middlemen who pay the price for this epic crime against the Nigerian people,” he added. “But one thing’s for certain: this judgment will send shivers down the corporate spines of the oil industry — and will surely alarm Shell and Eni employees and shareholders who have been repeatedly told that there was nothing amiss with the OPL 245 deal.” According to Radiocor, the Italian economics information agency, Obi unwittingly revealed the affair by suing Etete in a London court for payment of his commission for setting up the deal. He won that case in 2013, receiving $114 million, of which $24 million was paid to Di Nardo. The main trial brought by Nigeria against Eni and Shell has scheduled its next hearing on September 26. A total of 13 people face charges, including Etete, Eni boss Claudio Descalzi and his predecessor, Paolo Scaroni. The Nigerian Navy has deployed 16 newly bought ships to the Niger Delta to guard critical oil infrastructure, local media report, quoting the Chief of the Nigerian Naval Staff. Still, the official said, the Nigerian Navy has a long way to go to eliminate the vessel capacity shortage it has been suffering. The oil industry of Nigeria is vital for the country, which makes pipeline vandalism and other militant activity in the Niger Delta all the more problematic. In August, a report from the Nigeria Natural Resource Charter revealed that the country had lost some US$7.23 billion (2.6 trillion naira) from oil theft in just two years, 2016 and 2017. Data from Chatham House suggests that in addition to oil theft in the Delta, Nigeria is also losing US$1.5 billion a month from pirates stealing oil. The figure was confirmed by Nigeria’s Vice President and is equal to the daily export value of the crude shipped via the Forcados terminal. Things are so bad that Nigeria has been ranked the worst performer globally in terms of oil theft, ahead of Mexico, Russia, and Iran. Until this year, the country also had a major problem with militants in the Delta, whose attacks on pipelines and export terminals suspended oil transport capacity for months. And militants are not the only ones that interfere with Nigeria’s oil industry. Exxon’s Qua Iboe terminal is currently under a blockade from former employees of the local unit of the company, who were laid off in July. Since then, they have been protesting at Qua Iboe, and Exxon says if the blockade continues it could affect its production. Qua Iboe has a daily capacity of 300,000 bpd of crude. Nigeria’s oil production fell by 160,000 bpd in the second quarter of the year, to an average daily of 1.84 million bpd, Nigerian media reported earlier today. The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has signed an Executive Order of Open Government Partnership (OGP) as part of effort toward the fight against corruption, improve transparency and accountability in governance. Ganduje Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to Ganduje stated this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday. The governor said with strong anti-corruption institutions in the state, the Executive Order would help in strengthening optimal performance within the enclave of global best practices fiscal discipline and transparency. “Kano state shall fully implement the Open Government Partnership (OGP) principles in its reform agenda. Every Ministry Department or Agency (MDA). “Every public institution in Kano state shall establish an office and appoint suitably trained officials as Open Government and Access to Information Officers to ensure effective implementation of this Order.” He said the state government would inaugurate State Steering Committee and Action Plan, within the next few days to ensure effective implementation of the order. Let's be sincere to ourselves: initiating a project without plan for execution is not an achievement. I am sure any government can initiate as many projects as they want per day if it is just for the sake of entering in the book of history. I learned there are some projects that were initiated and abandoned years back but the present administration revisited them. This is what every sincere Nigerian should support and encourage the subsequent administrations to follow the foot steps for a better Nigeria. Government is about continuity... |
