President Goodluck Jonathan has implored the voting public in the country to be wary of those class of politicians noted for bread and butter politics who always seek to occupy public offices through substantial monetary offer that places them as the highest bidder.

The president gave the advice on Saturday at the 2010 Graduation Ceremony of Senior Executive Course 32 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru Plateau State.

Represented by the Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo, the President said that, with the present situation, Nigerians must seek to encourage men and women with proven record of high performance and potentials with delivery of the dividends of democracy through good governance to be public representatives.

President Jonathan who said next year general election represents a critical barometer for gauging national pro-gress said that government was determined to re-double its efforts to ensure that 2011 elections will be a source of national pride.

He said that government has equipped and empowered INEC to conduct credible election and as well assured all Nigerians and the international community of its resolve to ensure the success of the elections.

PoliticsI Won’t Join Issues With Obasanjo – Ibb by Boboribo(op): 1:20am On Nov 28, 2010
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/11/i-won%E2%80%99t-join-issues-with-obasanjo-ibb/

By Henry Umoru

ABUJA—FORMER Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) said, weekend, that he was not prepared to join issues with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo because the former President was his senior in the military.
According to him, all the former Presidential aspirants will accompany the consensus candidate — Alhaji Atiku Abubakar — during the campaigns before the primaries until a candidate emerges for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2011 Presidential election, adding: “We will be accompanying him to campaigns.”
Ben Obi is D-G Atiku campaign organisation
Answering questions from newsmen after a meeting of the four northern Presidential aspirants on the platform of the PDP and the Directors-General of the Campaign Organisation, Babangida also disclosed that Atiku’s running mate in the 2007 Presidential election under the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Senator Ben Obi now becomes the Director-General of Atiku Abubakar’s Campaign Organisation.
Before the emergence of Atiku as the consensus candidate, his Director-General was Chris Mammah while Senator Ben Obi was the Director-General, Aliyu Gusau Campaign Organisation, Chief Raymond Dokpesi was that of IBB 2011 Campaign Organisation and Udenta Udenta for Saraki’s Organisation.
The meeting which took place, weekend, at the Asokoro residence of Atiku was held for over three hours with Babangida; former National Security Adviser, General Mohammed Aliyu Gusau; Kwara State governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki; Atiku Abubakar; Udenta Udenta; Senator Ben Obi; former Kwara State governor, Shaaba Lafiagi; Yakubu Lame, among others in attendance.
Asked to comment on former President Obasanjo over his laughter on the choice of Atiku as the preferred candidate for the North by the Consensus Candidate Committee, Babangida, who wore blue Babaringa and drove in a black Mercedes car CLS 350 with number plate Niger AE 396 SRP, said: ‘’Iam a Junior officer, by tradition, I am not suppose to comment on what a senior officer said.”
When pressed that he was now a politician and Obasanjo also a politician, Babangida said: “He is still a general.”
On why the meeting, Babangida said: ‘’We have come for consultations with the consensus candidate.
After the announcement of the consensus candidate, we have not been able to formally meet as a body and that is why we are here.
‘’We approved the appointment of his Excellency, Senator Ben Obi as the Director-General of the Campaign Organisation.”
On running mate
On whether the issue of running mate for Atiku was discussed, Babangida said: “No, not yet.”
Asked if he was going to address the nation, he said: “You can go and read the speech, I never mentioned any address to the nation.”
Meanwhile, the new Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, Senator Ben Obi, who said he could not say who has been made his deputy, however, disclosed that there would be a meeting of the organisation in the next 24 hours.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Denies Facebook Comment by Boboribo(op): 1:12am On Nov 28, 2010
The Presidency says it has noted with concern the continued attribution to the President by the media of statements neither made nor authorised by him.

A statement by the special adviser on media and publicity, Mr Ima Niboro says President Jonathan finds this practice very objectionable, especially as some of the statements so wrongly attributed to him are totally at variance with his views and beliefs on the conduct of political competition.

Niboro says the President is a firm believer in issues-based politics and totally dissociates himself and his office from some of the rather objectionable, hurtful, spiteful and divisive statements against other candidates which have been erroneously attributed to him recently.

He therefore requests the media to call a halt to this practice immediately, and only attribute to him henceforth statements made directly by him or his official spokesperson his Special Adviser (Media & Publicity), Mr Ima Niboro.

Statements emanating from other government officials or staff of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation should be clearly attributed to those individuals and not President Jonathan, and responsibility for such statements must be borne personally by those who issue them.

Furthermore, President Jonathan requests that all officials, persons, groups and associations that purport to speak in his support or defence in the on-going campaign for the 2011 presidential elections should be properly guided by the principles of propriety, decorum and fairness.

The media adviser restates that the President sees the on-going contest for the PDPs presidential nomination as a contest between brothers who will be obliged at the end of the day to set aside their differences, such as they are, to give their full support to whoever emerges as the partys flag-bearer for next years presidential elections.

He therefore considers the personal attacks on other candidates, some of which have been wrongly attributed to him, as unhelpful and counter-productive.

I guess this settles it. If its not from NIBORO, ( NOT FACEBOOK) then its not from him. Is anybody still waiting for GEJ to specifically say "I deny the facebook comment" to be satisfied? There are English words called Nexus, Inference, deduction. They aren't there for fun.
