zeriod: My application was on background check till I was called for medical. Even after I passed the medical it was still on background check. After like 4 hours of medical passed, review of eligibility started and within an hour of that, Passport request dropped. My application took 5 weeks and 4 days. So be positive. 3 Likes 1 Share |

OFFICIALAEL: You don’t need to book a round trip. Immigration won’t check your plane tickets as a student. They do check some visitor’s ticket though. PS- if your program is less than a year, you might need a return ticket. |

Oluwaseyismith2: Lol. Bro, am still shocked you typed this. At this century, some told you you were given asylum visa and you agree it is.... well, for you to have access to nairaland, that means you have internet. Go to all kind of visas Canada offer on Government of Canada’s website at canada.ca. If you insist on traveling with it, let us know the outcome....but I know shame won’t let you come back here to share your experience hahahahaha 1 Like |

Oluwaseyismith2: If that's what you are told, then I can tell you: -If you have paid that agent, you have been scammed. -If you have not paid him and you have bought your tickets, you have wasted money. You will be turned back at the port of entry and I am sure, with the visa I saw you posted, you won't even be allowed to board from Nigeria as it's not even close to real. 1 Like |

Hello Guys, I want to ask about the average processing time now for online applications judging from people that got approved on here, I applied for my Dad and younger sister since 17th of August and till now no response. I know its 50 days listed on the website but I can remember in december 2017 when I applied for my mum, it took only two days when the processing time was listed on the website as 33 days. |

Oluwaseyismith2: This looks so fake. Looks like the visa is printed on a paper. To authenticate the visa, ask the agent for your application number and UCI, create a Gckey account and try to link the application. if your application exist on their system, it will link, otherwise, it will not. NOTE: Your visa can never be processed without your biometrics taken. If you have not applied for a canadian visa before, I guarantee you its 100 percent fake. 1 Like 1 Share |

Concate: Because your eligibility review has not started doesn’t mean they have not started reviewing your application. I got a medical call before my eligibility review was updated and it was not updated until few hours after medical passed and passport request came through in less than two hours it was updated. So just keep praying. |

uyplus: Bros you dey vex o! Please calm down and let everything pass. Nigeria hard but please don’t call our fatherland shithole. I have spent barely two weeks and some days in Canada and I must tell you I’m missing home. Life’s good here and thousands times better than in Nigeria but no place can be like where you grew up. The culture here is totally different from ours. You would be living in the same Condo and you won’t even greet one another when your path crosses. For example, in the walkway or when you in the elevator, you will either be looking each other like dondee or be pressing phone. Sometimes you greet them and they will be looking at you like mumu, and sometimes they respond with all smile. Even in 3 or more bedroom houses, you see only few that mix well. Most times it’s hi hi when you meet and when you in the house, you lock yourself in the room doing your thing. The food too. You go chop rice tire. The best thing is to cook here. Not like naija wey you fit just enter one restaurant or buka and load fufu or Eba and spend less than 1k. Go to African restaurant here a the least plate you can get is for $15 (#4,350) and you won’t even be satisfied. And for your info, you pay tax for everything. SIM card wey dem dey sell 100 naira for naija, I bought for $40 (#11,600) here , which was the best deal and I was charged $6 (#1740) extra as tax. Even tax dey ontop bread. I buy wheat bread for $3.29 (#954) which is #250 in naija(more than x3). So the thing here is you have to change your lifestyle if you really wanna have savings. Wheat bread wey I dey finish once in naija, I dey chop am 3 times here . Beans of about 3 congos is $22 imagine! One thing, If you keep converting to naira, you won’t buy anything here lol. Got a jean jacket $70 wey I go see confirm akube for 1500 in naija. Also, I learnt the weather during winter is mad. Even those that were born and bred here are afraid winter is coming! I remember during my orientation a lady at the information fair was asking me if I would like to study abroad. I told her I am already studying abroad because I am an International student. She laughed and said I can still study abroad, perhaps after I spend a winter here, I would like to study abroad...imagine! Lol Congrats on your approval and I wish you the best in Canada! 25 Likes |

Landing Gist: Booked Royal Air Maroc for August 17. Got to the airport around 4am because the flight takes off by 6:05am. I got to the check in counter and my two check in luggage weighed slightly over 26kg and hand luggage weighed about 14kg plus another backpack that weighed about 10kg. The man at the counter asked me to remove some items but God’s favor came through as another man came and told the man am a student and he should allow my luggage go through. It was a great relief and he heeded. Seems it was his boss! Then counter guy started acting friendly and asking for something lol my mum gave him 1k and he still tasked me again. Gave him #500, he said that’s not his money that I should add another #500 because he’s helping me send through the 14kg hand luggage with the checkin bags so I don’t have to be stressed carrying 10kg back pack and the bag. I sha gave him and he said he would come and collect the 14kg bag at the boarding gate to add to the check in bags, which he did. Then I proceeded to immigration and customs, they asked for bribe also. Just ensure you hold like 1k and give 500 to immigration and 500 to customs else they will just scatter your bag for floor and you have to start repacking. Got to the preboarding gate and they searched again and asked for bribe, I told them I have spent all the naira on me. Those ones will just open and close your bag and not scatter it. By 5:30 we have already boarded. The plane took off at about 5:55am. Contrary to the bad reviews people give about Royal Air Maroc, I must say I would recommend them to anyone because their plane is very neat, spacious and fast. Also, their pilots are great! Take off, the journey and landing was very smooth! We landed in Morocco at about 10:05am and the waiting begins! 7 hours 25mins stop over. I must note to you that they speak only French and Arabic in Morocco. Only very few can speak English and all their sign posts are in French. Just look at the screens to know the gate you will be waiting for your connecting flight. Also announcements are in French, and they are not really organized as they changed our boarding gate 3 times! So you have to be checking the screens every hour prior to your departure so that you won’t miss your flight! We boarded flight to Montreal at about 4:30pm. It was a much larger plane and the passengers mere more so it was not until 5:50pm that the plane was filled with the checks and all. We took off from Morocco at about 6:20pm. We got to Montreal at about 7:55pm same day Aug 17 which is 12:55am naija time Aug 18. At the POE, you have to fill out your information on a computer system and make declaration of what you brought in. After that, you will proceed to the boarder Officer. Our conversation goes thus: Boarder Officer: Salut Me: English Please Border Officer: Hello, why are you in Canada? Me: To study Boarder Officer: Which School? Me: Concordia University Boarder Officer: Oh great! What program? Me: MEng Electrical and Computer Engineering Boarder Officer: Okay! You declared you have other food apart from those listed on the computer screen and also that you have an extra bag. What is it and what’s in the bag? Me: Yam floor, beans. I have my clothes in the extra bag Boarder Officer: Okay! You can hand over your document I gave her my LOI, CAQ and admission letter but she only collected the LOI and gave me back the other documents. She entered some infos on the LOI into her system and gave me a paper which she stamped and asked me to proceed to immigration office 2 and She said “Welcome to Canada” with a big . So I proceeded to the immigration room, was asked to get a ticket number from a computer and sit till they call the number on my ticket. When it was my turn. I went to the immigration officer and he asked what I have in my bag, I told him yam floor, beans and vegetables. He said okay and collected the stamped slip the boarder Officer gave to me. He asked if I applied to a different program to facilitate the issue of my study permit. I said no (forgetting I applied for on acru plus program for International students coming into Quebec so as to ensure your study permit is printed before you arrive and you have to ask the boarder Officer where their desk is to get your study permit). So he asked me to sit and went to their desk to bring my study permit. And he said This is it! with all smile on entering the room back lol. He gave it to me and asked me to proceed to get my luggage. Had to wait a while for my 3 bags to drop. Then I proceeded to the exit, there were custom officers, I showed them my study permit and they asked me to go. Montreal is a very beautiful place but they speak more of French here. Even those wey sabi English go first speak French. So prepare to learn French but it’s not compulsory. You can still live here as part of the population are bilingual. House rents are affordable and food too. Canada fine o! Montreal fine but Toronto Final lol came in Toronto yesterday. Enjoying one week hols before orientation kicks off next week. The only thing is Toronto is more expensive than Montreal. I wish all TRV hopefuls the best and God’s Speed. We are waiting for you here! 44 Likes 4 Shares |

I hope this clears the argument. Makano, you will need to give your biometrics even though you have given it in the past because you submitted your application before July 31 and it’s active. Anybody submitting as from today onwards and have given his/her biometrics in the past does not need to give it again until after 10 years. 1 Like
