plaetton: With the many many contradictions of blind-faith christianity, the war in heaven is perhaps the grandmother of all contradictions.
The war in heaven, if true,murders all the ridiculous biblical beliefs with just one stone.

1st, if you are a christian, you have no choice than to believe that it happened. Now, if you do, then it presents you with a lot to think about.
The war in heaven implies that heaven is a physical place and that god and his army of angels are physical beings.
War means the use of weapons to hurt or kill perceived enemies.
Spiritual beings cannot neither feel pain nor die, therefore, war in a spiritual heaven by spiritual beings would make absolutely no sense since neither army could be hurt or killed.

2nd,the war in heaven shatters the idea of a one and only god.War in heaven means that heaven is a world populated with discontented beings, who , at some point, rebelled against their leader.

3rd, war in heaven would also imply that god is not so omnipotent after all. No one, no matter how powerful or cunning, can mount a war against an omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent god.
Unless ofcourse, god's omni omniness is greatly exagerated. lol.

4th, it puts a damper on the intelligent design notion, because, again it would seem that god's designs were not working as perfectly as he had envisioned.

5th, the seven-day creation story also suffers, because now, we know that conflict was already present on the earth before the creation of adam. Therefore, eden was not a mythical paradise , but a theatre of celestial war between god and his rebellious angels.

6th, Why would god banish Lucifer and his rebellious angels to earth, his new pet project, without even anticipating that the rebels might corrupt and cause problems for humans?
Why couldn't god just have simply banished lucifer to hot mercury or gold and gaseous jupiter, far away from his adamic pet project?

7th, Why hasn't god simply killed the rebels since then? Since we know, especially christians, that the devil is alive and well, further celestial conflicts would seem almost inevitable, and its a coin toss as to who will be victorious the next time.

omonuan: This is a conundrum that Rational Christians should think about but then again there are very few rational Christians that can balance faith with reasons. Many are lead by their noses by either pastors who teach selectively pertinent sections of the Bible and ignore the sections they don't like or their parents.

Followers are told that they must swallow the Bible story, hook, line and sinker but they are never informed about the outrageous parts. Therefore, when you point them to the outrageous parts, they are first surprised, then they try to rely on faith and tell you that it is not really what it says. Sometimes though when they have no objective answers, they ignore the issue like a plague. This is why many zealots have avoided this thread like they avoid the issues related to Revelation 7 and 14. They are really confounded and have no answers hence their silence.

Now back to what you said above, we are told that God gave us the freewill to believe it or not believe it-- but this gift comes with a deadly threat. Believe it-- or be eternally damned. What kind of choice is that? Some people may be convinced that the threat is a very real one, and so they will believe any story that their preachers tell them. Under these conditions, some people can be made to believe anything at all.

So when they get to heaven they may find out that Their pastors have mislead them and they rebel and declare war in heaven in alliance with the devil who already knows how to plan a coup.

olire: I strongly believe that there will be another war in heaven. This is because the method people use to convert pple is bad. People use fear to convert people not love. If people are afraid, it can't be forever. I believe this doctrine of using fear to convert is a stratagem of the devil. This is to ensure that even in heaven there will be no peace. According to Revelation Chapter 7 and 14, only 144,000 male Jewish virgins have been "sealed" for heaven. Then, you would now pose your question which is would there be peace for the 144,000? If Revelation 12 is correct, then it is possible that another war could break out any time considering that the devil lives here on earth now and has access to weapons of mass destruction like nuclear weapons. The devil also has a regular visa to and from heaven.

it is clear from many Bible passages that Satan was not barred from heaven or the earth after he was "hurled" at the earth, which predated the creation. In Job 1:1–2:8, he appears before God. In Zechariah 3, he again appears before God. In Genesis, he visited the Garden of Eden and tempted Eve. He tempted Jesus in the wilderness before Jesus began His ministry, which is recorded in Matthew 4:1-11. In Revelation Chapter 2:13, Jesus said he knew that the Devil lived in the city of Pygamos. The question arises that if Satan had already fought a war in heaven and been cast from heaven before the world was created, why is he free to be in heaven and on earth? Your guess is as good as mine.

If he declared war in heaven before, it is possible that he would do so again and next time, he might well take nuclear weapons from earth and declare a final shown with his enemies in heaven. I am really troubled about this possibility.
