pandoragirigory:Trust me, Mbaka was dragged like jollof rice in a Yoruba owambe party. He was dragged to the point the catholic church had to send him to a distant monastery to reminisce on his spiritual life. That you're using him as an instance, goes to show that you're not a frequent audience on the Nigerian media space. |
I won't castigate Kumuyi cause I have plenty of respect for his person. But I won't condemn or restrain Nigerians who choose to drag him like a tiger generator either. He deserves it! He and other of his fellow clergymen who play to the political gallery for personal gains. Matthew 7:7 says; seek and ye shall find! He has sought for the voices of Nigerians and he's reaping the desired responses. |
IconicR:Are we not all arguing in support of gender equality anymore..🤷♂️? |
Angelfrost:I thought humanity is gradually adjusting to gender equality..🤷♂️? |
Taylor90:I take exception to this comment please! This is a blatant insult to Goodluck Jonathan. He studied Zoology but was still able to perform fantastically with the economy. |
Nice! I like the slight increase from yesterday. Let me call Farouq. Or I probably should wait until evening, see if there'll be an additional 10 naira..🤔. What to do now?! |
flokii:Comments like this are just about enough to make anyone understand that most APC supporters are largely ignorant fellows. |
Vladimir "Oghenerukevwe Olotu" Putin.. !! |
Lol. These corn-demic citizens are funny. |
If you like, be related to Elon Musk. If you don't have bress, I'm not doing.. ! |
MrsTwrite:A society where the masses "take it like that" never bodes well for the millions without voices. I'm not certain most of our parents sent us to schools with their sweat so we could finish and "take it like that" while poor leadership deprives us of decent living standards so we can in turn, look after our elderly ones. Any man who isn't able to stand for something dies for nothing. EndSars might have ended in a bloodbath, but for generations to come, "20th October, 2020" is always going to be a memorable date in the minds of our children. Those victims died lending their voices for something. |
garfield1:He has to do better. His work pace is alarmingly slow and disappointing. Hunger propagates discontent and serves as a breeding ground for insecurity. Kidnappings in the state are already resuming at a worrisome rate. |
garfield1:He should resign then. Cross River has a commensurate IGR and is not even on the list of the top 10 poorest states in Nigeria. We're 3rd on the list of the highest cocoa producers in Nigeria. Our oil wells may have been ceded to Akwa Ibom, but we still generate revenue from Agriculture, tourism, taxes and other mineral resources like limestone, granite, aluminium, etc. The granite that comes out of Akamkpa LGA alone runs into billions of naira annually. Bassey Otu has no excuse whatsoever to be such a colossal failure and I'm surprised you see the need to be making excuses for him already. I supported and canvassed votes for him from my base, because Sandy Onor was not an alternative. But the man is failing and the truth has to be told! |
garfield1:He didn't know that before taking the oath of office? Did anybody tell him governance was a walk in the park? |
Minime10:😂. Please, teach me this English that you're very much vested in, I meekly request! |
MrsTwrite:Actually, the masses do have a humongous say in how the affairs of their states are run. Civil protests are constitutionally backed and when done right, have always achieved results. The relaxed attitude of the citizens towards governance at the state level, has been a trend that has its roots planted in the Buhari's era (mostly during his second term). Prior to that, I vividly remember how several protests had locked down the government house in Cross River. Medical personnel, teachers, non-academic workers in state colleges, road transport unions, all had seperate protests and got practical responses from the state government. Now we are all just focused on the Federal Government as if Tinubu and his administrative cabinet are supposed to drive to individual states to mandate those lackadaisical governors to act right. We've made the FG the scapegoat and ignored the SGs in the process, when they're actually the ones plundering our home resources even more. Ben Ayade, former governor of Cross River, ran that state like a conquered territory. He and his elder brother stole to their hearts' content, mined and exported natural resources like limestones, masterminded the deforestation of virgin forests just to have enough timber to export and all the while, the people focused blames on Buhari's FG. Even if we all have different political inclinations, the truth remains that these politicians are united in the thievery of our commonwealth and it's only proper we demand what's rightfully ours from these governors. |
MrsTwrite:Time is the luxury the ordinary masses do not have. Same way we have been very consistent at demanding proper governance from Tinubu's FG, is how we should do with the governors. People are dying from hunger. Children can no longer go to schools. There's a guy on this forum who has been hawking his Vivo phone for over 2 weeks just cause of hunger. No matter the political divide, we're all humans before our primodial interests. Most of our state governors are basking in euphoria while hiding behind the cloak of our focus on the FG. They're not working. We need to step up the heat on them! |
successmatters:Is the situation different in the states listed? Does Abia state not remit revenues to the Centre? Is Lagos not remitting? Is Anambra not remitting? Is Osun not remitting? How are these states making efforts at delivering good governance yet others are simply going around with their repulsive carefree attitude? Let's leave political opposition aside for once! Governors are failing and we're all so preoccupied with bashing the FG. Haba na! |
For once, let's be circumspect in our dealings. In the 3 months Tinubu has been at Aso rock, close to 3 trillion naira has been shared between the three tiers of government. Yet for some ridiculously weird reason, state governors (whether old or newly elected, with exceptions of a few) have done basically nothing to ameliorate the pains and angst being felt by citizens of the country. There's no Nigerian state that doesn't generate internal revenue. Add that to whatever shares are being gotten from the federal coffers, and there's the need for us to be asking proper questions. We've all been reading and seeing headlines on a daily basis. Adeleke of Osun, Otti of Abia, Soludo of Anambra, Zulum of Borno, Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Obaseki of Edo and Umoh of Akwa Ibom, seem to be the only governors who have been making recent efforts at governance and delivering dividends to the masses. I don't know what the rest of the governors are up to. The sloth in the government house of my Cross River state seems to be the worst in this category. There's literally nothing happening since he assumed office three months ago. I don't live in my state but I get weekly updates as regards happenings and nothing seems to be taking shape. Tinubu may not be getting everything right, but why does it seem like we're all too centered on the Federal government and neglecting to prod the efficiency of the governors who are closer to us? If I was back home, I'll mobilise a crowd and picket the home of my Local government chairman so the bastard answers some questions. Tinubu cannot deliver governance down to the LGAs. This is basically why democratic governance has to be spread so efforts get to the grassroots. These things are starting to really irk to the bone marrow! cc: Mynd44. Nlfpmod. |
Ordinary Nigerians have been dying on a daily basis and nobody has thought it necessary to even ask questions. A political Aide becomes a victim and the Lagos Assembly suddenly sees the need to convene a security council meeting. Funny country! |
Lol. OP, you deserve to be shot in the back of the head for lying and oppressing the Nigerian masses. |
What are their reasons? |
Pampers don add price sha! Make we no even reason go SMA Gold side. |

IconicR:For someone who supposedly has a disturbing allergy to romance, you sure spend immeasurable time in nairaland's romance section..😂. The irony makes for proper amusement. |
WrriterNig:Lol. Why do I have this nagging feeling that there's more afoot to this drama? |
Poisonousman:😂😂. People wey normal for Nigeria no pass 8, and you no dey for the list. |
Zonefree:OP, I agree with this gentleman. You're long overdue for proper malaria treatment. |
helinues:You'll have no information whatsoever about a thing, but you'll see the need to still open your mouth to talk. Do you not understand how empty you sound in such scenarios? |
God abeg see crowd! |
