Once again my brother you said it (smart people who know how to work the system). Almost, everyone has his own share of corruption, you are either paying it or gaining, depending on the moment. We do not need a system that SMART PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO WORK IT rather we need a[b] system makes people work on/ with it[/b].

I did not say nija is a failed state. Somalia is a failed state. Afghanistan is a failed state. There is a long list of countries that are closer than nija to be a failed state, e.g. Yemen, Zimbabwe, Burma, Georgia, Honduras, and so on.

However, things in nija does not make it a state of success. Also there is a long list of successful countries before Nigeria and what teases one that you feel most of them do not have things more than Nija, but only one thing, A SUCCESSFUL SYSTEM. They have corruption too, but not like here. In China the sentence of corruption is death. That is why the corrupted people make sure that they are not exposed or cross the lines, they keep it under control, not like here corruption is the fastest way to be a social figure and even run for elected positions.

We are in between, we have so much potentials to make nija a great country as well as we have so much hinders that if we are not careful will make Nija a failed state. Corruption comes on the head of those things that pull Nigeria deep down. And the problem with corruption is that its killing negative effect is hidden and silent like smoke. It is not like a military regime or an armoured rebellion that you can see it and figure out its bad doings. It is you, me and others.

One day I watched a documentary program on BBC about Nigeria, the man visited many places, North, South, East, West, mosques, churches … etc. with every step, he wondered how this country still there till he met one man, a doctor manager of a hospital. The man was so active though the hospital was poor in equipments and supplies. Then the British man said people like this man keep Nigeria from collapsing.

The problem with the system is that people like this man at the back, unseen and uncomforted in their life. The system makes things up side down, we need to correct it but HOW

How can one fight against corruption without losing so much i mean to the extent to lose his business or even his life. it must start from a group of people not just individuals, whatever they are NGOs or activists or whatever, to call for exposing the corruption and fight for any one contributes the campaign. one day i was thinking to vedio the customs people and put it on youtube to expose them as i became desperate . i may be dreaming but at least dreaming for good

This thread opened many wounds I thought the salt dried em up. I cannot agree with the folks r saying that corruption is everywhere as if it is enough defense. Yes, corruption is everywher but the problem with Nigeria is that the system encourages and promotes corruption in systematic way. I am not talking here about the well known problems like power, unskilled employees … etc, I am talking about life system.

I wonder if there is any one in the room tried to run a business in a simple legal way, not to smuggle not to bribe, pays tax, …, etc and how his business ended up?!!

I mean the system of life here is too corrupted to be handled with honesty. If you want to run your business you HAVE TO do it in twisted way, you pay your share in corruption and get it back by corrupted illegal ways.

I do not know if there is any one here tried to manufacture or assemble anything even on medium scale. You cannot imagine the complicated process that is made only for the governmental workers to get benefited by corruption, put in your mind that we are talking about five figures and up, at least 200,000 with every paper. No way to finish your required documents unless you surrender to the corrupted system to pay, hoping you will get it back from the people out there with no mercy to poor ones.

If you are importer your problem is less, you just need to lie about the real value of your goods and bribe the customs and others then you can bring whatever you want in your container and the more you import on high scale the more you have influence in the port and the market. All of us know the list of banned goods from importation but you still find it on wide scale, the only difference is that with much higher price.

It is a vicious circle, corruption ________ no real investment ________ no significant jobs ________ unemployment ________ hunger __________ high rate of crimes _____ corruption

That is why only in nija you can find someone gets too much rich in few years 2 or 3 years while it is impossible in any place else under the sun, take Jimuh Ibrahim as example, and when you ask them how they did it, they will start this nonsense about struggle and God's blessings. God doesn't bless anyone in corrupted way!

First, it is only the Rethreaded and used tyred are prohibited from importation. The regulations say:
"Rethreaded and used Pneumatic tyres but excluding used trucks tyres for rethreading of sized 11.00 x 20 and above 4012.2010.00."

2nd, i believe there is no restriction of tyres' importation to be only by those companies, individuals can do it too. I did not hear that there is any such restriction of importation, except weapons and esplosives. Indviduals are importing day and night in all fields. Anyway, perhaps you ask for further information about that.

However, importation of tyres, like others, needs to be approved by SON before importing. The product should obtain SONCAP certificate otherwise a fine will be paid.

First, the man is a womanizer. shortly afterf his wife left for training and jumped on another one that it happened to be his wife's sista. If she isn’t around he would bring home another one. Moreover, she should make her sista to feel that she should not be with her husband alone in the house. Perhaps the wife will feel that her husband is a womanizer to take care.

After that you should ask God sincerely regrettably for forgiveness

Sorry guys, the deal is off, at least for now. Zain announced that the deal and the plan to sell its operations in Africa is canceled as the two parties disagreed about some points. They did not said the reason of the cancelation but in all cases Zain is going to remain Zain till further notice. By the way, zain's share in Kuwaiti stocks lost about 9% of its price because of this announcement

It is not correct. There is a list and specifications to specify the duties for each car depending on the year, engine size, the type,  etc, exactely as ajileko and rasputinn said. the more recent and big car you get the more duties you will pay. However, you will not see that list, it is restricted only to the customs officers to specify the duties unless you have connection to one of them. some cars' duties is up to 800k

For Cotonou, if the difference is only 100k so it is better 100thousand to bring it to nija straight

By the way, the agent should not ask for more than 40k for himself and the rest will be paid duties with  receipts, and whoever says that he can clear a bus for 170k is lying unless he means it is for his labour and then he is a thief

The point that real Muslims reject in birthday celebration the sinful and shameless way that some others may commit during the birthday celebration.

There is nothing wrong with a celebration for joy and sharing the good memories with whom may concern. However it is hard nowadays to find a birthday celebration without drinking alcohol and many other prohibited manners. This is what Islam rejects.
Then someone will come with such false allegations just because Muslims do not agree with their own type of celebrations.

Let's start with the notion of the question. Right from the beginning, the question was formed in a biased way. Muslims do not "HATE" pigs. Muslims are ordered by God not to eat it, there is nothing about Hate or Love here. Moreover, it is not only Muslims do not eat pigs bur also Jews. Why did not you make your funny jokes at them too?

I dont see any wrong with that. In south africa, the white people made up their own language and called it Afrikano despite it is collection of European languages and imposed it on the real black africans and now it is wide range used no matter the origin or the colour of the speaker.

mmmm let's be specific about our opinions on this government.

I don't like to be too hash or pessimistic, but i got confused about the combination of the cabinet and felt bad after examing some names and their background.

In my opinion, some certain positions should be focused on to know if this government is meant to make change or not, which are the ministeries of Finance, Power, Agriculture, Education and deffince.

First, the minister of finance, I didnt see it in the list,  despite it is the most important one especially after the great Dr. Iweala 
However, perhaps her role will be played by Dr. Shamsudeen Usman, the Minister of National Planning Commission. He has excellent background and good experience in finance especially in banking, which became very important nowadays regarding the global financial dilemma.

There are speculations that the former Director-General of the Debt Management Office (DMO), Dr. Mansur Muhtar, will be the minister of finance. That may be good, if Yardua has the will to take the  national economy to the next step. Both of them were within the team of Dr. Iweala, which may mean continuation of her good policies.

Second, the minister of power, once again I don't see it in the list    once there are reports about chosen Dr. Rilwan Lanre Babalola the expert in power. The country will never get progress with its poor power generating.

Those are the points that may make one optimistic, however, from there the confusion starts. We will find men have taken ministries that are very far from their background or at least don't know anything about it and they have never played role of it.

The minister of agriculture, Dr. S. Abba Ruma, the man has Ph.D, in International Relations and Diplomacy and worked in education field, what the hell he is doing with the agriculture  , enough nonsense, the country is cultivating only 3% of its land while there is at least 33% that can be cultivated easily.

The same the minister of Defence, Dr. Shettima Mustapha, his Diploma and PhD are in agriculture  while the minster of state of defence, Mr. Ademola Seriki is the former minister of Agric & Water Resources  was it meant to get such qualifications for Defence, you know what I mean. and that Sam Egwu, what the hell he is doing there after accusing him publicly of corruption.

Also, the most bizarre puzzle of choosing Dr. Dora Akunyili for information why, was it just a show?? and how Dr. Akunyili accepts it. When OBJ put Dr. Iweala at the end of his tenure as minister of foreign affairs she told journalists let's see first is it a promotion or what and she resigned as respecting her career and herself

At the end, I still believe that we can't judge the government from now. We should see them as team first and then tell the conclusion.

When a coach takes over training our national team, one will find millions, including myself, who can train and play better than all the team while we should wait till the end of the competition

I say Hadith writers were devoted to collect all types of Hadith, whatever it is false or correct and discuss it showing their stance on each one, starting from the tellers of Hadith to its context.

But you say I am denying the existance of that Hadith in Sahih Muslim. NO ONE DENIYED THE EXISTANCE OF THAT HADITH IN ONE OF HADITH BOOKS. That Hadith is in that book for centuries, but non of the Muslims took it seriously because every one knows that it is one of the fake Hadith because it is contradicted with Quran which always is the superior and has first ever priority in Muslims' life. Moreover, it is contadicted with other Hadiths. Do you want more Hadiths that are not recognized from Muslims, and they are in Sahih Bukary and Sahih Muslims. Do you know even that there is a group of Muslims that deny all Hadiths and take only Quran as it is the only book that God said He will preserve it forever.

The existance of that fake Hadith in any book doen't mean anything to Muslims. It is not Quran that was preserved by God from 1425 years and is the ONLY book in this case.

My brother olabowale has explained more than enough the Islamic judge on that Hadith and Fatwa. However, let me tell you the complete story, because it is a good lesson that every Muslim should be taught.

FIRST OF ALL, THE MAN WHO ISSUED THIS FATWA WAS WORKING IN ALAZHAR UNIVERSITY NOT ALAZHAR INSTITUTION.
There is a quite big difference between both of them. Al-azhar Institution, which Egyptians call it Al-azhar Mosque, is the highest Islamic institution in Egypt and probably in Sunnah world and  its Imam is the highest Islamic position in Egypt. Al-azhar Mosque is established in 972. Of course as all Muslims know, in Islam and especially in Sunnah world, no one has superiority on Muslims attitudes and behaviors except their faith but the Imam of Al-azhar has moral advantage from his position especially that he used to be chosen from the highest educated Imams.
While Al-azhar university is a just a university that teaches religious sciences amongst many other sciences as medicine, engineering, commerce, media ….etc. The recent university is one of the Ministry of High Educations' parastatals, and established in 1961. 
In last year 2007, a doctor in Al-azhar University, was asked suspiciously that there is Hadith in Sahih Muslim about breast feeding between adults and if the PREDICATION or attribution of this Hadith is correct and good.

For explanation, there are certain rules to judge Hadith if it is good or bad, correct or fake. One of these rules the PREDICATION, which means to scrutinize the bearers or those who said that Hadith one by one and see for example if their consecution is correct, if any one of them is less reliability even if he said one bad Hadith. In fact, Hadith science is very wide and specializing and there is an obvious rule that only specialized Imams in Hadith should talk about Hadith or judge it. Books of Hadith contains hundreds of Hadith that are correct PREDICATION but false context. The most famous books of Hadith are Sahih Bukhary, which is higher grade, and Sahih Muslim. The highest Hadith grade are the examined, confirmed and come from both Sahih Bukhary and Sahih Muslim together, then what are in Bukhary alone then what are in Sahih Muslim alone then what are in other books. However, we should know that the writers of Hadith book collected all kinds of Hadith whatever correct or false and then they started discussing each one by the Hadith sceintific rules to judge it whether it is correct or false. They did so to inform Muslims about both correct Hadith to adopt and false Hadith to avoid. So, it doesnt mean that a Hadith in Sahih Muslim and Bukhary shall be correct automatically. First we should know the writers' judgement on it and see the judgemnet of the specialists in Hadith science.

There is a funny but significant story used to be said to prove how the collectors of Hadith had so tough terms and conditions in acceptance and refusing Hadith. One thousand years ago, a collector of Hadith in Medina (Saudi Arabia now) heard that there was some one in Basra (Iraq now) had some Hadith, so he traveled hundred of miles to see what he had. After long days of traveling, he met the man. However, before discussing anything he saw the man using grass in his hand to catch his goat. Then surprisingly the collector just stood up and returned immediately home. The other man asked him why he is going home before hearing from him, the collector said a man tries to deceive his goat to catch her by grass is not trusted enough to say Hadith.

Other rules include congruity or accordance and contradiction with Quran, congruity or accordance and contradiction with other Hadith and the Prophet's Sunnah (way in life) God's Blessings and Peace Upon Him, congruity or accordance and contradiction with LOGIC, congruity or accordance and contradiction with REALITY and many other rules.

Back to that Fatwa, the doctor, Ezzat Atyiah, said that the PREDICATION is correct so the Hadith is correct, despite he is not specialized in Hadith science. He was asked about the tellers of that Hadith and he answered that it is correct without asking other Imams who are specialized in Hadith. That Fatwa provoked wide argument about it and his competence to issue it.

Then (22-May-2207) Al-azhar High Council, the highest council of Ulama (scientists) in Al-azhar, announced that Fatwa is contradicted to all Islamic rules. The next day, Al-azhar University suspended that man and opened interrogation with him and wide investigation about that Fatwa.

During the investigation, that man announced a statement that he drew back his Fatwa after he discovered that it is incorrect especially that he is not specialist in issuing Fatwa nor in Hadith science.

On 19 September 2007, Al-azhar University declared the decision of its long time and wide investigation. The decision was dismissing that man from his position in the university. The university announced that man violated the Islamic rules to judge Hadith as he is not specialist in Hadith, and he said in the investigation that he asked other Imams in that hadith which has not happened.
