I am one of those championing the viewpoint that if the Chief Judge decides to play politics as we are already seeing and doesn't perform his functions when called upon, the lawmakers should proceed with the impeachment process by setting up the panel.

The constitution is silent on what happens when the Chief Judge refuses to perform his role in the impeachment process. That is a Lacuna. The drafters didn't envisage the level of corruption now, and this current Chief Judge of Rivers has been quite shameless in recent times.

So if the Chief Judge doesn't do his job, let the lawmakers proceed and conclude the process. If they impeach the governor, he should go to the Supreme Court for interpretation. The corrupt Chief Judge will not be allowed to stall a constitutional process.

The NJC also needs to start disciplining a lot of these judges. The orders which emanate from Rivers State judiciary are shameful and criminal.
