For 11 year-old Master Emmanuel Ephraim Sunday, from Ikot Iyire, Ikot Abasi LGA, life has been hell. The Primary 4 pupil of UBE Primary School, Itam, Akwa Ibom State, has been in severe pains since Sunday, 6th May, 2018, when he sustained burns as a result of fire incidents caused by a stove explosion resulting from adulterated kerosene.

The poor boy is still agonizing in pains at the St Athanasius' Hospital, Abak Road Housing, Uyo, where he was rushed to shortly after the fire incident.

According to a family source, Emmanuel proceeded to the kitchen to light up the stove in an attempt to boil water to make garri. A source said, it was not the first time Emmanuel was operating the stove.

"His attempts to light up the stove were proving unsuccessful and on closer examination, he discovered there wasn’t kerosene in it. His nursing mother sent him, being the eldest, to buy kerosene at a filling station but since there was no product there he returned to No 4 Ikot Ndem Street, Off Calabar Itu Highway, where he bought the kerosene", the family source said.

The source further explained, "After pouring the kerosene into the stove reservoir, in an attempt to light it, that was when an explosion ensued.

"Before he knew it, fire had engulfed the whole kitchen, leaving him severely burnt. His screams for help attracted his nursing mother and neighbours who came to the rescue, put out the fire and rushed him to the hospital", the source said.

The kerosene seller, the reporter was told has refused to submit the kerosene which some neighbors alleged it is adulterated, for scrutiny

The poor Emmanuel has remained gummed to his sick bed close to two months. He always cries, as the unbearable pain tears through his body. And the ceaseless cries also bring tears to the eyes of the nurses attending to the poor boy.

A serial child molester, Mr Ifeanyi Akpa, a male and indigene of Onicha Igbeze of Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, who resides in Osubi Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, was arrested today and handed to the police by Osubi community for the severe beating of his nephew, Chigozie Ogbu, 13 years old, who is living with him.

Comrade Friday Okpako, Osubi youth president, who alerted Orerokpe police, said there were several report by neighbours of severe maltreatment and corporal punishment melted on the boy daily, by Mr Akpa and his wife Mrs Ngozi Akpa, who has four (4 ) children from the marriage.

According to an eye witness, "Chigozie does all the domestic work in the house, sells pure water during the day and yet they won't allow the poor boy to have his peace". He added that the boy has rounded up his primary education yet they refused to enroll him for secondary school. He also said the boy is very intelligent.

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who is also the community leader, who was on his way from Sunday service, met the situation and immediately directed that the boy should be taken to the hospital for proper treatment from the serious injuries inflicted on him.

When he was asked to stand he could not, because of the excruciating pains from his swollen back.

Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori also directed Sheriff Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship/Bursary Committee Chairman, Chief Mrs E. E. Onokpasa, to award scholarship to Chigozie to University level to enable him continue his education.

He said the Scholarship will run till the end of his university studies. He also promised to ensure the well-being of the child.

The police later whisked Mr Akpa to Orerokpe police station.

It was a show of shame yesterday at the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Eagles Square in Abuja. Some delegates from various states including Taraba, Delta, Imo and others clashed and fought publicly at the event where the president, Muhammadu Buhari and other top dignitaries were present.

One of the delegates who was beaten by others at the event - was pictured after the convention after receiving treatment for his broken head.

Trouble first started among delegates from Imo State before spreading to the Delta State delegates.

While the clash between delegates from Imo was brought under control by security operatives after a while, that between the Delta delegates was more intense with chairs being hurled and several people sustaining injuries.

This occurred despite the heavy security presence at the venue of the convention which has President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and the who is who of the party.

A young Nigerian soldier has been killed while protecting the country from Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state. According to reports, the gallant soldier identified as Stephen Suarez from Warri in Delta state - was killed recently alongside some of his colleagues after Boko Haram ambush.

It was gathered that the troops fought through an ambush staged by elements of Boko Haram Terrorists.

The remains of the deceased personnel have been promptly evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

According to reports, three persons have been killed by gunmen suspected to be members of a rival cult group in Odi area of Bayelsa state. It was gathered that the cultists believed to be from neighboring community, secretly invaded the community at the late hours of Saturday, 23rd June 2018, and attacked one James Alex and others, who were at their resting place.

Residents said they heard gunshots and when they got to the scene, they found the lifeless bodies of three individual, identifying one as 'James Alex', an indigene of Odi community and two others.

Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa made an emphatic mark today after scoring twice in a dramatic second half to secure a 2-0 victory over Iceland in Volgograd on Friday.

The 25-year-old player, Musa grabbed his third and fourth World Cup goals (he scored two in a 3-2 defeat to Argentina at Brazil 2014) to become the first man to score for the Super Eagles at two different World Cups.

Last night in Group D, Croatia put Argentina to the sword – leaving the South Americans on the brink of a World Cup group stage exit. Three second-half goals were enough to guide Zlatko Dalić’s men into the last 16.

Nigeria will be sure of a spot in the knockout stage if they can see off Argentina on Tuesday, after Musa’s excellent double before a missed penalty by Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The result was also a boost for Lionel Messi’s Argentina, who are now back in the mix in Group D.

The Fulanis in Plateau state have raised an alarm over series of attacks by villagers said to be from Berom ehtnic group in the state. According to reports, yesterday armed bandits attacked some Fulani indigenes while coming back from cattle market. It was gathered that the attackers opened fire on the victims' vehicle before setting it on fire.

The corpses of the car occupants are said to be unknown as at the time of filing this report.

An acclaimed Pastor of the Celestine Church, Ozuri, Adavi Local government area of Kogi State, Mr Shegun has been arrested for allegedly killing one sex hawker from a popular Hotel called Hollywood in Adavi LGA, a Benue citizen for a ritual purposes.

The pastor was apprehended alongside his accomplice, Mr Mike And Stephen, who claimed to be his boys and church members Earlier hours of today, LGA D.P.O of Police led the Administrator, Hon Joseph Omuya Salami, accompanied with some of his political appointees, the Media team and the APC Campaign chairman in Adavi LGA, Hon. Osundo to the crime scene, saying the suspect beheaded the victim, severed the hand, leg as well as the head and buried the decapitated body some where closed to his church.

When the Administrator and the D.P.O as well as his entourage got to the scene at Ozuri community, Hundreds of residents of the area trooped out to catch a glance of the incident .

The Administrator of Adavi LG, Hon Joseph Omuya Salami, described the act as the highest lever of wickedness, stressing that "man killing man" is an abomination, said ritual killing is in non biblical, unacceptable and should be totally condemned, and anyone that involved in such act must pay the price by law, he added.

He further lauded the effort of the D.P.O and the security agencies of the state ,for the efforts they have put to apprehend the suspects.

This growing violence in Ekiti state has called for a serious concern ahead of the gubernatorial election in the state on July 14. A supporter of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) was murdered gruesomely today in Ikere Ekiti by some political thugs.

According to reports, the deceased identified as Egbe Yusuf was wearing the campaign shirt of the PDP governorship candidate, Kolapo Olusola before he was attacked and butchered by the assailants in broad daylight.

A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official decided to embarrass himself while trying to stop a "stubborn" motorist in Nasarawa State. The FRSC official had to climb on the moving vehicle in order to stop the driver who refused to halt his vehicle at the checkpoint. An eyewitness, Torkuma Gabriel who took pictures of the officer in action - said that the incident happened in front of Nasarawa State University in Keffi.

The Senegalese fans have been hailed after cleaning up the stadium 40 minutes after their game against Poland. The fans showed their civil side by cleaning up the stadium joyfully as they celebrated Senegal's 2-1 win over Poland in their opening game of Russia 2018 World cup. Senegal recorded Africa’s first win at the ongoing tournament.

Coached by Alou Cisse, the captain of the Senegalese side which shocked France 1-0 on their road to the quarter finals of the Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup, the Teranga Lions of Senegal scored in both half to record an impressive win.

Led by Liverpool’s Saido Mane, the West African country which is the highest ranked African nation in the FIFA rankings opened their World Cup account through an own goal by Brazil-born defender, Thiago Cionek on 37 minutes.

Senegal, in only their second World Cup appearance since their 2002 impressive debut, however, held on to record an impressive win over the shell-shocked Europeans, and will look to take control of Group H when they meet Japan, who earlier recorded a surprise 2-1 win Colombia, on 24 June.

he Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a gun runner and recovered an AK47 rifle and two Barreta pistols. In a coordinated covert operation, detectives from the Anti-Cultism Unit and the State Intelligence Bureau, Bayelsa State Police Command, lured a notorious gun runner one Markus Akassa 'm' 45years, from Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, under the guise of purchasing arms from him.

The gun runner was arrested with one Ekioyoufegha Agge 'm' 34 years from Oboro Town, in Delta State, who usually introduces him to buyers.

They were arrested on 16 June, 2018, at a hotel at Akenfa three, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State and the following arms were recovered from them; one AK47 riffle and two China made Barreta pistols.

The suspect confessed that he usually travelled to the Republic of Cameroon to buy arms and ammunition in a community called Okwa, in a border town with Bakassi Peninsula and sells an AK 47 riffle for Five hundred and fifty thousand Naira and Berratta pistol for Two hundred and fifty thousand Naira, in Nigeria.

Investigation is ongoing to recover some of the guns he earlier sold and arrest the buyers. The command appeals to members of the public to avail the police with useful information that may lead to recovery of arms from unauthorized persons.

A man is reportedly on the run after allegedly attacking his pregnant girlfriend while she was asleep. According to reports, the boyfriend burnt her face and her hand with a bar heater after a disagreement before she went to sleep.

Facebook user Lerato Lee Hlongwa from Johannesburg, South Africa, wrote;

"Boyfriend burnt his pregnant girlfriend on the face with a bar heater while she was asleep. After doing this he ran away. Nobody knows where he is"

Students of Paul’s University Awka In Anambra State was yesterday thrown into endless tears as one of them slumped and pass on. The said tragedy took place exactly mid-day during their Students union programs.

According to an eye witness report, it was gathered that the young student by name Valentine Uchebo was a final year student of Accountancy department who was due to graduate next month July before his death.

The eyewitness said they were all together within the school premises when the incident occurred and was rushed to the school clinic where he was confirmed dead.

Valentine Uchebo is said to be his parents only surviving male child.

The students Union Government led by master Prince was contacted on the incident. He said;.

“Valentine Uchebo was one of us, he contributed immensely towards the successful leadership of this present student union government of Paul’s University. We can’t question God rather we pray that it pleases God to forgive his sins and avenge his sudden demise”

He went on to appeal to the general public invited for the schools students Union Government week celebration expected to hold on 20th June 2018 as the event has been suspended indefinitely.

Students of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state have taken to social media to mourn one of their colleagues who passed away in an untimely manner. According to multiple online reports, the young lady and undergraduate student of Hospitality management department - went to sleep and never woke up again.

According to some students who claim to know her, it is said that the young lady was down with an illness before her demise while others claimed that she died in a mysterious circumstance.

Her friends have taken to Facebook to mourn her death since the news broke yesterday.
