Like seriously? After bashing GEJ with this pix. From today onwards, I will never read Guardian again.

That was the aim of the pic. To score the government low.

It was all propaganda.

my problem here is that, y would federal govt. not sue guardian for this

Seriously, I expect FG to take them to court. This damages the reputation of our local newspaper companies.

Oga the image is real

Go there and confirm it yourself

The image has been proved to be false. A verified weblink was posted, and it showed the image to be from Congolese refugees.

Today, 5th October, 2014, the alledgely image Congolese refugees were posted on the headline of Guardian Newspaper as the internally displacement in Mubi.

This is a bad development for a reputable Newspaper such as the Guardian.
Politics / Re: Diamond Bank CEO Resigns To Contest For Abia State Governorship Election by boneruns(m): 6:05pm On Oct 24, 2014
This man is a quintessential Economist and a Banker. He revolutionized Diamond Bank in short period of time.

I have no doubt he will succeed if given the mandate to rescue Abia state.

He is leaving the Bank amidst standing ovation. A very humble man that went round the whole HO locations, desk to desk, giving his farewell handshakes to each and every staff.

The Bank would miss Otti, and is confident that Uzoma Dozie will take the bank to its journey.

All the best Sir!

I have reported the scammer to GTB.

Action would be taken appropriately.

Politics / Re: Few Pics From Imo State by boneruns(m): 7:19pm On Oct 09, 2014
I've been a silent follower of this thread and I must confess I always feel nostalgic each time I see lovely pictures of Owerri. The pictures make me feel like taking the next flight to my village.

The last time I was in Owerri was in 2009, and the environment was quite impressive as at time. I felt like I was in a highbrow area in Lagos.

But I don't know why I've not seen pictures of my hometown, Ikeduru, of all the pictures posted here. I don't know how true, but I learnt Rochas is starving Ikeduru of development.

Above all, the development across all sector is quite impressive. I can't wait to visit my state this December and post pictures on this thread.

I won't mind seeing some lovely pictures of Ikeduru. God bless us all.

Motunmi:
This is the first time in my entire life to read a topic from 0 -17th page on Nairaland.

Anyway, thanks to the Op and other contributors. I learnt.

Is any one looking at the Pension Industry?

What do PFAs (Pension Fund Administrators) offer their entry level and experienced level?

Thank you.

I don't think PFAs offer much compared to their counterparts in Bank, Insurance, Investment Banking.

In a training I attended with some employees of PFA, I learnt they don't really make much profit since they don't do much business with the money in their custody, because that's the last resort for PF contributors, and as such, it is risky using such money for other profit generating ventures, for fear of loss.

I stand to be corrected though.

blank:

I beg to disagree. If you have seen any offer letter with 13th month in it, it is termed salary and it is equivalent of one month's pay.

Well, I guess it is different across organizations. Because, I've not received a 13th month pay which is equivalent to my one month full pay.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Entry Level Salaries Of Companies In Nigeria by boneruns(m): 6:18pm On Oct 08, 2014
Point of correction to those saying "13th month salary"- It is not actually a "salary" but a bonus.

Therefore, don't expect your December salary to be paid twice.

I don't think this picture was gotten when Sanusi became a king. Probably when he was still a CBN Governor.

An Emir has a special regalia he wears. This can't be true.

Congrats to those who have passed the test. With this, you're 90 percent in, but you have to be patient if you're in Lagos, because to process for Lagos hopefuls takes a longer time compared to other training school locations. Currently, I think there are no Trainees in Lagos TS, so the process might be expedited.

I must also state that you're lucky to have submitted your CVs and invited for the test because currently, there are not request for fresh applications.

DB is a great bank to work in, you can learn as fast as you can, and contribute idead irrespective of when you joined the bank or your level.

For the interview hopefuls, prepare your suits, clean hair cut, know what you have in your CV, and understand your course of study. The interviewers are nice people. So, don't fret.

I wish you all the best.

100Cents:

IT staff is a contract staff.

Blame the banks who pay such staff N50k or N60k per month..

But a thief is still a thief..

How do you know that the fraudster was a contract IT staff and he was being paid 60 to 70k? Do you presently work in any bank and you're privileged to understand IT governance and organizational structure?

Please don't generalize, not all IT staff are contract, except you meant IT support staff. No bank will entrust their core IT asset to contract staff, and assign them admin privilege. Don't make a mess on Bank Management because they aren't dull.

At what point is someone is categorized as being a 'millionaire'?

Am I a millionaire if I have an asset or savings of One Million?

What exactly are the criteria?
Computers / Re: Cyber-theft Prompts Search For Nigerian Bank IT Worker by boneruns(m): 7:28am On Sep 17, 2014
This guy wanted to cripple S*** Bank. The bank has a weak internal control for allowing just a single person to authorize transaction worth that amount.

These days internal fraud by bank staff are becoming incessant, and amount lost are high. Even contract bank Tellers are no exception.

I passed through the church sometime this month, and I saw the disaster that was waiting to happen. Anyone could have predicted the danger. It wasn't the main church auditorium but a tall, tiny building behind the main auditorium

I wonder if they had no competent Engineer to advise them on the risk in such building.

May the souls of the dead, RIP.

Do Risk Analyst have a stake in the industry? Operational Risk, Information Security, to be precise.

I've not seen any advert that suggest they are needed.

2cato: The funny thing is thatThe rightful authorities are doing nothing about it. The banks and CBN are turning blind eye towards such development and this keep me wandering whether most of their staff are involve. Boys are not smilling.

Please don't misinform people.

Banks and CBN are observing these trends. And there are Information Security Units across banks saddled with the responsibility of monitoring phishing attacks targeted to customers. Such phishing sites and emails are taken down ones they get alert that there's a phishing attempt.

If you know the amount that is spent on taking down a phishing site, you won't say there are not down anything.
Hackers are just persistent. Banks are doing a lot to create awareness via text messages and emails informing customers never to compromise their banking details.

What I love best is that he attracts credible individuals to the party, Jimi Agbaje for Lagos, Ribadu for Adamawa, Dr Alex Otti his old friend for Abia, plus he was probably the best performing northern governor of the 1999-2007 set

Dr Alex Otti is not in the gubernatorial race anymore. His appointment as MD Diamond Bank was recently increased to three more years.

I feel the bank should be sold to Heritage Bank. If this Bank is sold to banks with existing structures, it may lead to massive loss of employment.

HB needs just a structure to fit in.
