Delay is a trademark for Arik Air. Last week thursday, we were delayed about 3hours for a flight from Lagos to Benin. No official apology was tendered, except their usual cake and juice served onboard. Delay is normal for Arik, don't fly with Arik if you have some urgent to do. |

The OP is a core critic of Nigeria. He has always discouraged people from staying in a Nigeria, and always advised them to desperately relocate out of Nigeria. I wonder what he now sees in the country he resents so much. Goodluck. |

But does it mean that after some yrs those that wil be employed now wil be sack as well Hmmmmmm After working for about 10-20yrs in a bank, trust me, there's nothing to be scared about. Have you tried switching from one department to another? You may find something that interests you, and keep you going in another department. If I may ask, what else would you like to do? Above all, follow your heart. |

Union Bank is about the be one of the best paying banks in the country. Hence the migration of experienced staff from other banks. This is info within the financial sector. |
Career / Re: Massive Sack At Union Bank? by boneruns(m): 3:40pm On Nov 29, 2013 |
Yes, this is true. I learnt those affected were/will be the old staff of the bank. I don't really know their criteria for selecting these 'old' staff. The bank is rebranding. Currently, there's massive recruitment for both new and experienced hire. Anyone who knows someone within the bank, should submit CV. 3 Likes |
Career / Re: Nigeria’s Highest Paid CEOs by boneruns(m): 5:32pm On Nov 22, 2013 |
This figures are not true. I know Senior Managers earn circa 20million per annum in banks. Then compare with GMs, EDs and CEOs. Also, no bank will disclose the actual take-home pay of their top executives. Those figures seem to be done by guessing. 1 Like |

Femsyn: Some younger people, if given an opportunity to choose between bank and PwC, KPMG et al., would rather choose bank because of the pay. I have a colleague who left PwC after working for about 4months because he wanted better pay, not knowing he can stay in one level and earn same salary for 5years. Whereas, 5years experience in PwC can take u into a much higher role and better pay. Young graduates fail to look into the future. They want immediate gratification. I work in a bank, and I wish I started in a consultancy firm. 1 Like |

Big4wig: Thanks but that thread is old and i people have stopped replying.i want to know the current salary scale for banks and their various welfare package Okay. Diamond is the highest paying, I can't tell you the figures. I reliably learnt UBA reviewed their salary, which I presume is higher than Diamond. But it isn't about the money. Seriously, the best is starting career and growing in consultancy firms like PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY, Accenture and etc. most younger people will only realize this after some years. 1 Like |

I once thought this election was for just anambraians alone, I never thought other other SEastern states, and those who don't have know internet knowledge are interested in the outcome. I thought the election starts and ends here on nairaland. My brothers and relatives have been discussing about the outcome of this election. May the best winner win. Amen Though I'm not for Anambra; I'm from Imo; but God bless Anambra, God bless Nigeria. It is all for the better. |
Business / Re: "Eight Nigerian Banks Are Too-Big-To-Fail!" - CBN by boneruns(m): 5:23pm On Nov 12, 2013 |
This is a very bad report coming from a supposed regulator and promoter of our economy and financial system. What then is the job of CBN if they can't make all our banks healthy? What happened to AMCON bail-out funds, injected into the failed banks? The report seem to be a politically motivated. On what metrics would Skye Bank, that relies so much on LASG funds and deals be classified as "too big to fail"? What then happens when there's a change in Govt., or the deals from LASG stops coming? Where is Union Bank today, one of the pioneers in banking? So many bigger banks have failed before! This report was probably done by an armchair CBN analyst! What a crap! 2 Likes |

Politics / No Ideological Difference Between APC, PDP, Says Balarabe Musa by boneruns(m): 12:40pm On Oct 08, 2013 |
LEADER of opposition political parties and former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has said that Nigerians should not see the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party that would transform the nation’s economy even if it succeeds in defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 presidential polls. According to Musa, there is no ideological difference between the APC and PDP that would permit radical changes to be effected in the nation’s economy, which would also lead to the transformation of Nigeria. He pointed out that both political parties shared the same capitalist orientation and principles. Musa, who spoke with The Guardian in an Interview, said though the chances of APC in the 2015 general elections “is still being examined by the critical forces in Nigeria, the party has a chance but they should not just assume that the chance is bright because of the crisis and bankruptcy of the PDP, they have to make sure that they are more reliable and more relevant than the PDP.” The former governor who is also the leader of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), said that “the PRP is not a member of APC and would not be a member for ideological reasons”, while stressing that “the most clear ideological reason is this, the APC, like the PDP, believes in the leading role of private enterprise in the economy, while the PRP believes in the leading role of the state in the economy to ensure peace, equality, dignity of the human person and progressive even development of the whole country.” Musa continued: “This is a fundamental distinction. The PRP cannot join the APC without betraying its course. We agreed that there is need to defeat the PDP in order to make progress in Nigeria. But that need alone does not justify our surrender of our fundamental position. “We will eventually, when we establish our separate identity as a political party. And you know that the PRP has a problem. First, we have been deregistered, even though the court has now declared the deregistration as null and void. But, we are still facing a problem. “Secondly, we have been prized out in the competitive politics, but we are determined to remain and we will remain as we have been doing that for the last 63 years. PRP is now 63 years, having been established in 1950 as the NEPU. The party is now the oldest in the country. ” www.ngrguardiannews.com/national-news/134836-no-ideological-difference-between-apc-pdp-says-balarabe-musa- |
