WTF do you keep spitting about "another man's wife"? This other man's wife chose to meddle directly in the politics of a state leading to chaos and confusion. If you want to be treated like a lady you act like one. You can't be a thug and at the same time demand to be treated like a lady.

First of all its not very smart to speak so certainly about things you you are not absolutely sure of. Its always safer to speculate.

Secondly, running away from the Police in Nigeria of Today is a very dumb move.. Not with Boko Haram, Kidnapping and high criminal levels. You may never live to tell your side of the story.

And its funny.. I drive good cars (my oldest is a 2007 Honda city).. I have never had reason to run from the police. And I have been searched severally. The only time I came close to running from the police, I didnt know. I was just speeding on my own by 11pm at night and the police in an unmarked car gave chase, cornered me and 8 Mobile poice men came out Guns drawn.. They searched my car thoroughly, even tossed the 50'k in the glove box as if it were a piece of paper.. When they were done, they warned me never to drive like that again.. Jumped into their bus and drove off without even asking to see my papers.. All I showed them was my Company I.D card.

So whats all these talk about Police being bad. The max they do is ask you for an outrageous document like 'import duty' or something to collectmoney from you. If you stand your ground (quietly), stay with them, tell em to arrest you and take you to their station, they normally allow you go.

Running from the Police is always a dumb idea.. Not only do you put your life in danger, but that of others..

What an utterly silly argument!

You talk like the Police in Nigeria needed a valid reason to shoot you dead on the spot!

if this dude, whose only crime was to have stood up for his right, had run for his life, he might not have ended up sleeping with the fishes.

He was killed! murdered cold in broad day light, in the full glare of the public! These are the people you encourage us not to run away from? are you mad bro?

If the highlighted were to be true, Assad would have retaliated against Israel long ago.

My guess is an explanation for that will be down to Moscow's influence. Obviously a retaliatory strike from Syria is a slippery slope to a much bigger conflict that could easily draw in Superpowers. From Moscow's angle, there's no point going down that route for now especially when you can make Israeli leaders quake in their boots by threatning to supply Syria with S300s. Did you see how Bibi ran to Moscow to plead with the Boss?

5.There're great divisions in ME and this Shiite/Sunni thing is for real. A stalemate in Syria is bad news for Lebanon (a defeated Hezbollah would alter the political calculus in Lebanon), Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and perhaps Iraq because Iraq too is joining the Iran/Hezbollah/Syria alliance. This is already playing itself out as violence escalates along sectarian lines in Iraq. It's good news for Israel.

What can change the aforementioned points is direct involvement of Russians which would guarantee swift victory for Assad, strengthen Hezbollah and create a nightmare for Israel. Since there won't be international backing for such move, I don't think Russia would risk such an escalation knowing the type of relationship that exists between Israel and Western powers. Israel is not just another country.

The most plausible scenario is continuation of proxy wars with destruction of Syria.

I think one thing to understand here is that Assad, by not losing the war, is actually winning the war and one thing he has going for him is that unlike Lybia, the Syrian resistance is not well coordinated.

It is also important to understand that the longer this plays out, the stronger the Russian/Iran/Syrian alliance will grow. A stronger alliance between Russia and Iran is bad news for Israel and the West. Additionally, for Russia, this is not only about winning, it is also about sending out a very strong message - That Putin's Russia, will stick with commitments to its partners regardless of what may happen -

I think unfortunately that the proxy war will continue for a really long time. Syria will never be the same again.

3.An escalation with Israel would remove Assad from power. The surest way to remove Assad is risk an escalation with Israel. Assad knows this and that's why despite Israel's destruction of some weapons bound for Hezbollah, he did not authorize retaliation. Opening another front against a formidable opponent is silly. Assad won't do it.

I think this assessment is a bit of miscalculation. Assad has more to gain by risking an escalation with Israel than he has to lose by not doing so and I am betting he will definitely be willing to do so if Israel strikes Syria again in the future. An escalation with Israel will win Assad the sympathy and the backing of major Muslim states in the region. Israel will become a common enemy and all currently warring sides will quickly unite. As an example, during the Gulf war, Iraqi government fired scud missiles at Israel with the hope of provoking a military response from Israel. The Bush administration prevented Israel from retaliating because if Israel had done so, Arab countries will withdraw their forces from the US led coalition and will probably even join Iraqi forces.

Additionally, what more does Assad have to lose? If Damascus gets hit by Israeli missiles, and Tel Aviv gets hit by Syrian missiles, guess who wins? Assad of course! It's like getting into a fight with someone who has already been sentenced to death, if you win, you lose, if you lose, well you lose more!

2.There's no absolute guarantee that S-300 promised by Russia won't be bested. Russia knows it. There's one in Cyprus which I believed the West would have learnt quite a lot from it. S-300 wont be delivered, not to a country that would put it to test immediately. The loss in monetary terms (contracts with China and so many countries desirous of having the toy) and huge propaganda machine built around it would be lost. Infact, it would cast great aspersion on the credibility and reliability of other Russia's arsenals. It won't be supplied to Syria. The main hype about it is the fact that it has never been used in a real war situation, not invincibility.

I think the threat of delivery - not the actual delivery - is the bargaining chip the Russians will prefer to hold on to.

What an epic scene!

The wines will flow red and the music will play loud

The strings did play loud, just everyone was too drunk to hear them, and by the time Catelyn realized, it was too late. The rains of Castamere had begun.

Poor Arya! To come so close to being reunited with her family, only to witness the horror...not in plain sights, but through imagination and sheer realization her family is being slaughtered upstairs. When the wolf gave the last squeal, my heart was completely broken!

Robb stark was no soldier. Proud, but not full of pride. Honorable, but not ruled by honor. Breaking commitments and losing sights, for the sake of love? or as Walder Frey would have it...the sake of firm t*ts and a pretty face? The dude lost my respect and i will guess, would have been an embarrassment to the legacy of Eddard Stark.

I love the fight scene involving Jorah, Grey Worm and Daario. Epic! I wish we had more.

Moscow: Putin Held Telephone Talks With Netanyahu, Assad Sent Letter To Washington

Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Syrian conflict, the Kremlin said Monday, after Israel launched air strikes inside Syria.

Putin and Netanyahu discussed the “situation in the region and the situation around Syria,” the president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement to Russian news agencies, without giving further details. The Russian foreign ministry had earlier expressed concern over the air strikes.

Previously, Russian Embassy in Damascus has refrained from commenting on reports that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad forwarded a letter to Washington via Moscow to warn that Israel’s new aggression would evoke an immediate response.

“We are so far receiving information from open sources the same way you are. Therefore, we cannot give any special commentary on behalf of the embassy at the moment. We are following ourselves what is being published,” said an embassy spokesperson.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Alrai reported earlier that Assad had sent a letter to Washington through Moscow to warn that Israel’s new aggression would evoke an immediate response.
It said Assad expected an answer from Washington within 24 hours.

The newspaper cited a source close to Assad as saying that the Syrian leader told Russia he expected an answer to his letter sent to the U.S. within 24 hours and warning that, if Israel attacks Syria again, it would interpret this as a declaration of war and would retaliate without prior notice.

Syrian authorities reported earlier that Israel had delivered an air strike on a research center outside Damascus in the early hours of Sunday.

Meanwhile, Russia is analyzing the circumstances of Israel’s air strikes on Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement posted on Monday.

“We are also specifying and analyzing all circumstances of the extremely alarming reports about Israeli air strikes on sites in Damascus suburbs on May 3 and 5,” the statement said.

Moscow also called for stopping politicization of the possible use of chemical weapons in Syria.

“For our part, we insistently appeal for stopping politicization of this extremely serious question and escalation of the anti-Syrian atmosphere. We reaffirm the impermissibility of dragging out under far-fetched and dangerous pretexts a response to the Syrian government’s appeal to the UN with regard to the claimed use of chemical armaments by opposition armed units in Khan al-Assal on March 19,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement.

Russia continues to insist on an independent expert study of the use of war chemicals in Aleppo, Syria, given the conclusion of a UN special commission on its possible use by opposition forces.

Moscow is concerned about reports suggesting that chemical weapons are being used in Syria and views them as indications that the international community is preparing for a possible intervention in this country from the outside, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The situation in Syria and around it has become dramatically tense in the past several days. A number of Arabic and other international media outlets have posted especially many speculations on the use of chemical weapons in the confrontation between the government forces and opposition fighters. Signs of preparing the international public opinion for the possibility of forcible intervention in the protracted internal conflict in Syria cause our serious concerns,” the statement cites Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich as saying.

Lukashevich mentioned a statement by Carla del Ponte, a member of an independent commission investigating human rights abuses in Syria, saying that chemical weapons, particularly sarin, could have been used by opposition fighters rather than the government forces.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov posted in his Twitter account ”The UN special commission believes that war chemicals in Syria could have been used by the armed opposition. The conclusion was drawn based on a poll of witnesses,”

“This fact once again proves the need for an independent expert examination of what happened in Aleppo in April,” he said.

Syria deploys missile defense batteries toward Israel: report

DAMASCUS, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Syria has deployed missile defense batteries toward Israel in response to the Israeli attack that targeted a Syrian army facility in the capital Damascus earlier Sunday, security sources said.

The pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV cited security sources as saying that Syria will also provide the Lebanese Hezbollah with "new qualitative weaponry."

A statement issued after an emergency cabinet meeting on Sunday said that Israel's attack "opens the door widely before all eventualities."

"Syria will not accept its sovereignty to be infringed upon either at home or abroad," the statement said, warning that those who mess with the sovereignty of Syria must carefully study their options and shoulder the responsibility.

The Sunday air attack was the second Israeli one targeting the same military scientific research center in the area of Jamraya, northwest of Damascus after one in January. Israel said then that it was targeting a weapons convoy on its way to Lebanese Hezbollah militant group, a main ally to Syria.

After Sunday's attack, Western reports cited intelligence sources as saying that the attack targeted a shipment of advanced Iranian-made weapons, including Fateh-110 missiles, heading to Hezbollah.

The Israeli administration has previously warned that it will not allow the Syrian government to give sophisticated weapons to Hezbollah.

However, Syria's state media charged that Israel targeted Damascus to give a boost to rebels after their recent frustrations.

Syria's Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, said the airstrike is an indication to the coordination between Israel and the radical groups affiliated with the al-Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front.

I don't give a shyt about Israel, and unlike you, I state my argument without necessarily choosing sides. Israel has got a powerful military, enough to deter its neighbours from attacking it. It is also committed to preserving this status quo, Is this fair? damn yes! If you don't like it, feel to hit your head on a wall and die

LoL @ Lebanon being able to deter Israel, despite the fact that Israeli jets roam freely in Lebanon's airspace without impunity or respect!

^^

that is just the pretext Israel is using to excuse their aggression against a sovereign country, syria.hezbollah has long stockpiled sophisticated weapons, and the 2006 war the group fought against Israel is evident of that,as Hezbollah was able to withstand and repel Israel's attacks for 33 days, something four arab countries could not do and were defeated by Israel in just 6 days.

I do not agree with your assertion here. Hezebollah might have sophisticated weapons, but it still does not have the capability to deter Israel or cause it huge harm. Gaining such capabilities from Syria will topple the balance of power and it is not in Israel's interest to see this happen. I think this is very Justified. If you are a country of 7 million, facing threat of complete annihilation from more than 600 million Arabs, you strike first and then ask questions later!

Israel does not have much to gain by toppling Assad and having the rebels take over Syria, as a matter of fact, the opposite will be the case. Assad, at least, has not directed any bitterly scathing demonstrations towards Israel since its peace accord several years ago.

Of all vocal supporters of the rebel groups, Israel has remained in a largely neutral position, which includes warning the west against arming the rebels. What Israel has however insisted on is the fact that it will not allow its enemies to gain access to first hand military materials that could eventually be used against its citizens. So long as this is met, Israel wouldn't give a f**k about who is killing who in Syria.

The UN and US are very evil. How can they watch as Isreal bombs Syria without even a word? If it was the other way round, even a threat from Syria would be enough for them to tighten sanctions. The double standard is so glaring it is not even. funny.

I deplore the way and manner in which Israel has consistently abuse the rights of the Palestinian people to self determination, freedom and their homeland.

Palestine asides, I do not deplore Israel's alert military status and its approach to deter those it deems are undeniably threats to its existence and future. Given half a chance, Hezebollah & Iran will see to it that every single soul in Israel is wiped out completely. I don't consider this to be evil at all. If your enemy is about to obtain weapons that could put you and your family at risk then you are entitled to take any step to see to it that this doesn't happen.

shymexx: It seems Israel wants to escalate what's going on in Syria to su.ck Iran into a direct confrontation so as to enable them attack Iran... and also su.ck the Americans in...

But Syria has shown restraint so far - if not, their missile defense system is capable of shooting down those Israeli F-16s with ease... Perhaps, the Russians are the ones telling them to show restraint...

I do not think Israel is particular about picking sides in Syria. As a matter of fact, Bibi Netan-the-yahoo warned America and the rest of the West that it will not tolerate arming the Syrian opposition. It seems to me that Israel is genuinely concerned about arms shipment to Hezabollah and the likes. Israel is determined to deter Hezabollah's military capability and will not care whose horse is gored in taking steps it deems necessary to do so.

I don't think Syrian has shown restraint. Why will Syria shoot a Turkish plane down and spare Israel? Syria hates Israel more than it hates Turkey, No? and Turkey is a member of NATO, Israel is not. Russians have no imperative to restrain Syria, if anything, Russia would have been more than keen to see an Israeli jet grounded. Nothing could have sent a better message

I think you overestimate the use of missile defense systems. No matter how advanced they may be, these things can be beaten by a well trained experienced Airforce squadron of which Israel has loads of them to spare. Missile defense are also a gamble that cannot be depended to work 100% of the time, particularly against an enemy that has mastered the use of surprise.

I think Isreal's role in the conflict may over-complicate matters. It will be interesting to see how Turkey reacts to this news.

The same phenomenon we see with athletes from poor backgrounds who strike a big contract and then fall back broke within just a few years. Africa does not need any more so-called "aid". It needs to properly manage the vast resources we already have. Please no more enslavement to these cunning foreign countries who are offering us $1 but will end up taking $1000 back in various ways. And if we're going to go into bed with the Chinese- it must be a well-thought out symbiotic relationship that will benefit us in the long run, because we do need to forge as many alliances with world partners as we can.

But alas, if I know my people well some myopic pot-bellied group of senators whose god is their belly will sell out their countries for a fatter wallets.

The Chinese are not what you want to go to bed with. Better to stick to the good'ol hand to man relationship, no one has ever been known to get enslaved by self sustenance. If anyone thinks China has their best interests at heart, i could sell such a person the bridge my grandad left me when he died.

China is here to exploit the naturally endowed, but poverty stricken continent with very little concern for Africa's children nor the destruction China leaves behind. The bloody Vermins we are cursed with as leaders only make this form of slavery all too easy. The days when humans were traded for mirrors are clearly not behind us ....nothing has changed, only prices.

I see what you mean deenee, but in truth, there is absolutely nothing wrong having certain expectations about your remunerations. Why sell yourself cheaply? When a company recruits fresh graduate, they are in theory, recruiting the future leadership of the firm. The individual recruited, must in theory, be one of the best among all available flocks, and given this, must be able to command a premium rate over the market average.

Any company worth its salt will be happy to throw the negotiating table open to a potential recruit, fresh graduates or not. Having experience is great, but it does not always imply superiority over little/no experience. In some cases, a matured company operating in a low growth industry might have its fortunes completely revamped by spectacular innovations contributed by fresh minds.

I have done a number of recruitment myself and the pattern has always been ---> Innovative ability > Experience > Degree.

If a fresh graduate can give me the first and the last in double whoopers, I'd happily pay a premium for him. Several top consulting firms follow this approach too.

There's been several pages of arguments written on this subject that if rolled up in boxes, could fill the earth. I personally favor a mixed economy, but will probably lean more towards capitalism than socialism. Free market works best if everyone else practices the same. The US emerged as a superpower more than a hundred years ago due to a well defined rule of law, an adequate education system and a free market economy that facilitated the growth of a middle class.

The formula is really simple:
Free markets + rule of law+ education + fiscal responsibility + resources = sustainable success
Socialism is a theory inconsistent with human nature.
Foreign Affairs / Re: "Capitalist US" Or "Socialist Germany" by bookface: 1:21pm On Apr 27, 2013
jejet: Germany is 1/5 the size of the US and yet has the second highest trade surplus in the world (after China). They’ve accomplished this while having higher rate of unionization and higher pay. According to conservative ideology, socialist practices and union power should destroy the economy and destroy innovation and yet the complete opposite is the result.

Which is more favourable; capitalism or socialism

Trade surplus doesn't say much. In the very least, you should analyze the balance of payments based on individual drivers. If an economy is shrinking and household consumption is falling, average imports may fall well below exports and the country might end up posting a trade surplus.

You should look at per capita income when comparing these countries. This is a better determinant of the quality of life enjoyed by citizens of these country. Nigeria, a developing country (and i use that term, loosely), posted a trade surplus of 68 billion as at last year, the US posted a deficit of 784 billion, Yet Nigeria ranks below average on a world scale when compared with per capita income.

Of what use then is your trade surplus if your citizens cannot feed properly or live decently by worldwide standards?

America's economy is dominated by 70% of businesses that are sole proprietorship. It is hard to argue that the Americfan dream is simply a Myth!
