President Muhammadu Buhari was cheered by his wife Dr. Aisha and his daughter Halima after delivering his address at the General Debate of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York yesterday.

The Edo State Government has reacted to pictures of Godwin Obaseki sleeping while President Muhammadu Buhari was delivering his speech at the United Nation’s conference in New York.
A statement signed by Crusoe Osagie, the special adviser to the governor on media and communication strategy, said Mr Obaseki can also experience fatigue and exhaustion, an indisputable fact of life, to which all humans are susceptible.
“Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous campaign designed to smear the image of the Edo State Governor, Mr. Governor Obaseki.
“The disparagers have populated the internet with photographs of the governor when he momentarily succumbed to fatigue after a long flight, preceded by a chaotic itinerary in Edo State before heading to New York for the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, in the United States of America.
“The idle hands and mischievous minds behind the smear campaign against governor Obaseki are clearly not people to be taken seriously.”
Mr Osagie said the internet is awash with photographs of outstanding world leaders who have at one time or the other yielded to fatigue at meetings.
Highlighting his work schedule prior to the trip, Mr Osagie said despite Mr Obaseki’s rare work culture, unmatched by his peers, “we have never portrayed him as a machine.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday vowed to return the South West states to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if elected president in the forthcoming general elections in 2019.

Atiku, a presidential aspirant of the PDP, made this promise when he visited members and delegates of Oyo state ahead of the forthcoming presidential primary election of the party.

The former Vice President was welcomed to the Oke-Ado PDP state secretariat by the two gubernatorial aspirants of the party, Mr. Seyi Makinde and Senator Ayo Adeseun, a former Deputy governor, Alhaji Azeem Gbolarumi, Elder Wole Oyelese, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Senator Kamoru Adedibu and Dr. Saka Balogun.

Other bigwigs that welcomed Atiku were Chief Robert Koleoso, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Taiwo Oluyemi, Muraina Ajibola and the State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke.

Recalling how he worked with others as the Vice President in 2003 to take over all the South West states with the exception of Lagos from the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Atiku assured the zone of greater participation in the PDP government at the centre.

He then urged members of the party to put their differences aside and forge ahead in unity for the party to win Oyo state in the next general election.

Atiku who was accompanied by his Director General of his campaign, Otunba Gbenga Daniel further urged members of the party to work for the interest of the party at all times for them to reclaim the state and the federal government.

Atiku while speaking further described Oyo state as the political headquarters of the South West region which should not be toyed with.

He said, “Oyo is the political headquarters of South West. The people of Oyo state, so let us work together. Let us work for the unity of the party; by the grace of God, we will have PDP in government in 2019 in Oyo state and Nigeria.”

It was a tragedy in Bayelsa as a man,his pregnant wife and their 14yr old boy living with them died after eating food said to be poisoned by an unknown person.The incident happened along Winners Rd,Swali.How their food was poisoned is still unknown.They died after eating their dinner.Two rats that ate the remnants of the food also died.

A Nigerian man is said to have lost his life after allegedly jumping from a building in Malaysia while trying to evade the authorities. It was gathered that the deceased who reportedly hails from Awkuzu in Anambra State - jumped from a second floor due to lack of papers.

He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away days after, according to reports.

This is coming after a similar incident happened in the Asian country as a Nigerian man was covered up in blood having jumped off a building.

He reportedly did this to avoid getting arrested by the police. This happens in Suria where he dived into a parked vehicle.

He rested helplessly on a rail with a deep cut obvious on his forehead.

Late raggae legend Ras Kimono‘s widow, Efe Okedi, passed on on Sunday just 3 months after her husband died in Lagos. Her child who is Ras Kimono’s step son, who spoke to The NET revealed that his mum was rejected by 3 hospitals before she gave up the ghost.

It was also revealed by family members that the late Ras Kimomo’s wife was never ill.
Onome Akpobome, Ras Kimono’s stepson (Efe Okedi’s son who she had before marrying Ras Kimono), explained that her death was as mysterious as anything and that she was fine before going to bed, adding that the entire family had gone to the beach for an uncle’s birthday; only for her to complain of chest pains during the night.

“On Saturday, we went to the beach for my uncle’s birthday. Nothing went wrong until about 2 a.m when she woke us up to change over because PHCN had brought the light, she then went upstairs and started complaining of chest pain. At this point, she started breathing awkwardly…” he said.
She was then rushed to a hospital in Ogba, a mere ten minutes drive from their Magodo residence but would eventually give up the ghost without receiving treatment.


“Her elder sister who is a nurse attended to her and gave her first aid but her breathing was still laboured so we decided to take her to the hospital. First, we went to Blue Cross Hospital at Ogba but the staff we saw were unresponsive. I was shocked to see their unconcerned countenance.

When we saw that they were not ready to help us so we left and drove to County Hospital. A doctor saw her there, checked her pulse and said she was still breathing but that they had no facilities to treat her. So he referred us to Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja.”
As he sobbed softly, Onome further narrated that LASUTH was not of help either:

The one-way ( impassable for 2 cars at the same time) road is very narrow and steep.
