A new CRK teacher transferred to a JSS 2 class mid term wanted to know how well the students understood the syllabus so far. He decided to start from the last topic the previous teacher had taught. Teacher:~ "Hello class, who broke down the walls of Jericho?" There was a full minute of absolute silence. All the students just stared at him blankly. The teacher then pointed at the students in the front desk to answer the question. The students began responding. Amos:~ "Sir I'm a new student here, I just started this school last week" John:~ "Sir the day the walls was broken I didn't come to school, I swear" MARY:~ "Sir I only passed by the walls of Jericho, I didn't even touch it, as it was already broken when I passed it" Rufus:~ "Sir, I didn't even know the walls had been broken, until you mentioned it now" The teacher became so shocked and infuriated.... Teacher:~ "What!!!" He screamed....The Students began murmuring amongst themselves, that the new teacher is so mean. The teacher, shocked by their ignorance, stormed tothe principals office to tell him what happened. The principal kindly responded. Principal:~ "Sorry About that. You know how mischievous these JSS students can be? Always destroying things and later denying it. But be rest assured, this matter would be fully investigated.Just write down the total cost in fixing the said wall, and at the next PTA meeting the issue would be discussed" What a school! Like students, like PRINSPA. |
anakobembash: UoPeople charges small processing fees for application ($10-$50) and examination processing ($100/per end-of-course exam). The application fee can be waived and if you are from Africa, Microsoft has a scholarship for you for your 2yr associate degree in the school. You won't pay a dime. |
JustCare: I will send the number again ... didn't get a message.tell me a little about your expenditures then. I learnt that the Microsoft scholarship is meant for us only at associate degree level. did you make use of other scholarships to settle your expenses?I started when the school was not charging examination fee so those of us started then won't be paying a dime till the end of our program . You need not worry about the tuition after the 2years program as there are scholarships available that you can apply to especially when you are from Africa. I have replied you with my number. |

The Government is to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the “threat” to the UK from the Ebola virus, the Foreign Secretary has said. Philip Hammond said he would chair the meeting of the Cobra committee, which will begin coordinating Britain’s response to the spread of a disease that has killed more than 670 people in West Africa. It comes after Public Health England’s global health chief told The Independent that officials have been briefing doctors, Government bodies and the UK Border Agency on what to do if Ebola arrives in Britain. Fears of a global outbreak were raised last week after a man exhibiting signs of the disease was allowed to leave Liberia on a flight to the international travel hub of Lagos, Nigeria, where he later died. Mr Hammond told BBC News: “At the moment we don't think any British nationals [abroad] are affected and we are fairly confident there are no cases in the UK.“But it is a threat, it is something we need to respond to and we will be doing so through the Cobra mechanism.” Meanwhile, in an indication that Public Health England’s advice is now being acted upon, a man in the UK has been tested for the Ebola virus, according to the Mail. The man was isolated and subjected to a number of tests at a hospital in Birmingham after becoming “feverish”. He had been travelling from Benin City in Nigeria, via Paris, and became unwell on Monday. The man has since been given the all-clear, but the episode shows just how seriously the warnings from Public Health England are being taken. Dr Brian McCloskey, the director of global health at the agency, told The Independentthat Ebola represents the most “acute health emergency” currently facing Britain. “When these things start to escalate we work with everybody to ensure they are aware of what needs to happen,” he said. All doctors in the UK have been told to look out for patients exhibiting the early symptoms of the Ebola disease, which include fever, headaches, joint and muscle pain and lack of appetite, particularly if they have a history of travel in West Africa. The disease has up to a 90 per cent fatality rate in some cases, and later symptoms include vomiting, diahhorea, a rash and bleeding from the eyes, nose and mouth. UK Doctors have been told to contact a national team of infectious disease experts if they suspect cases – who then advise on whether further action or tests are needed Source: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/ebola-virus-is-a-threat-to-uk-says-philip-hammond-as-government-calls-emergency-cobra-meeting-in-response-to-deadly-disease-9636789.html |
Really? I think govt should privatized all hospitals and see if all these senseless strikes in the health sectors won't stop |

I just created this thread for the free tuition accredited university -Uopeople. You can drop your questions related to the school there https://www.nairaland.com/1834903/free-online-university-degree-all |
"We need to bring learning to people instead of people to learning." Elliot Masie, Masie Center Technology is in no doubt revolutionizing every facets of human lives; this revolution is sweeping through the education sector across the globe. Universities around the world seeing the need to key into this reform are beginning to come up with various E-learning programs. Stanford University,MIT,University of Edinburgh are few among institutions making that have opened their courses to millions of people worldwide for free. While these free courses from these universities won't earn you a degree, few individuals are working day and night to create FREE universities where millions of people can earn accredited degrees. The most successful of all these attempts is an Israeli entrepreneur by the name Shai Reshef. He is the founder of University of the People popularly known as Uopeople. Uopeople is an online university based in the United States of America. The university is the FIRST TUITION FREE UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD and has students from over 190 countries including Nigeria. The university presently has two courses which are Business Admin and Computer science. You can study for free and earn accredited certificates at the associate and degree level. The associate degree is a 2yr program while that of degree is 4yrs. I'm here to help Nigerians answer any question within my ability as a STUDENT of Uopeople. On Uopeople application,I made my application in 2010,I first went through their website and read the application process then I: 1. Copied the essay topics and answered 5 of them. 2. Went back and started the application process, filled the form online and submited online with the essays. 3.Printed out the acknowledgement card and their rules and signed them. 4. Made photocopy of my waec certificate and secondary school testimonial. 5. Took it to federal high court in my state along side the original and showed it to the court clerk or so. 6. After confirming that the photocopied documents were truly from the original,he collected it signed and stamped it. Note that I paid #20 per document totalling forty naira into govt purse. 7.I sent the stamped photocopied documents with the printed documents to the school address in California using NIPOST -it cost like #400 . 8. I got an email the next month from Uopeople confirming the receipt of my documents and that I should send WAEC scratch card. 9. I scanned it and sent it via email 10. The following term,I was admitted. I started with computer science but the course is damn too tedious,it would have been easier for me if I had prior knowledge in computer science and the coding stuff. We had virtual laboratory, did python programming,Java etc before I applied for change of course (We did real practicals and coding EVERY WEEK). I'm now in my final year in business admin. I have tasted a Nigeria university and I can tell you it is NO MATCH FOR UOPEOPLE. Online learning is not for EVERYBODY and i have seen so many Nigerians dropped out of Uopeople. Self motivation and discipline is required to scale through this school. I'm optimistic that in no distant time Uopeople students in Nigeria will be allowed to participate in NYSC or at least have the exemption certificate. |

A woman, a child and a baby have died in Pakistan during riots over an allegedly blasphemous Facebook post. Their home was one of several set on fire in the city of Gujranwala on Sunday and another woman miscarried during the violence. The woman, her seven-year-old granddaughter and her baby sister died of suffocation, according to police officials. The victims were members of the Ahmadi religious sect, who identify with Islam but are widely regarded as heretics in Pakistan and face persecution. Rioting erupted as rumours spread that a young Ahmadi man, identified as Saqib, shared a blasphemous picture on Facebook,Pakistan Todayreported. It allegedly included the Kaaba — the cuboid building at the centre of the Grand Mosque in Mecca that Muslims face in prayer – and contained nudity. A mob reportedly gathered outside Saqib’s house and started protesting. When they moved to a doctor’s house where Ahmadis were thought to be hiding, someone inside reportedly shot at the mob and injured the man who had started the Facebook rumour. The group then set five Ahmadi houses on fire, killing the woman and children and injuring several others. Pakistani television channels aired footage showing a mob armed with sticks, cheering outside the burning homes. Differing sources claimed the woman was in her 30s and the girls were aged eight months and five years. A police officer said another crowd of 150 people gathered at the local police station demanding the registration of a blasphemy case over the post. The youth accused of making the original Facebook post had not been injured, he said. Pakistan’s blasphemy laws carry a potential death sentence for anyone accused of insulting Islam, although they also cover all religions and places of worship. Ahmadis consider themselves Muslim but believe in a prophet after Mohammed, the self-proclaimed Ghulam Ahmad, who was born in 1835. He is not defined as a “law-giving” prophet but claimed to propagate the laws enunciated by Mohammed. The sect is defined as non-Muslim in Pakistan and a law in 1984 made it illegal for Ahmadis for identify as Muslims or “pose as Muslims”. They are banned from using Muslim greetings, saying Muslim prayers or referring to their places of worship as a mosque. Salim ud Din, a spokesman for the Ahmadi community, said it was the worst attack on the community since simultaneous attacks on Ahmadi places of worship killed 86 Ahmadis four years ago in Lahore. “Police were there but just watching the burning. They didn't do anything to stop the mob,” he said. “First they looted their homes and shops and then they burnt the homes.” In May, two Ahmadis, including a visiting American cardiologist of Pakistani origin, were shot and killed. In the same month, a lawyer and a human rights activist representing a university professor on trial for blasphemy were shot in the city of Multan. Accusations of blasphemy are rocketing in Pakistan, from one in 2011 to at least 68 last year, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. About 100 people have been accused of blasphemy so far this year. Human rights workers say the allegations are increasingly being used to settle personal vendettas or to seize property from the accused. JustCare: tnx...what about the chances of one getting it?if you are a male from Africa,it's like 90 percent for full scholarship and about 99 percent for partial. But if you are a female from Africa,it's 100 percent chance for full scholarship. Microsoft is sponsoring 1,000 Africans to study free in this school. |
JustCare: hello, what about that examination fee of 100dols does it cover all the exams In a program or one has to pay as many times as he writes exams in one degree program. please shed more light on that if you are informed in that regard. tnxIt's 100dollar per exam but Microsoft, MasterCard, Clinton and host of others offer scholarship and you won't have to pay even $1 throughout your program. I started 2010 and I haven't pay a dime. |
