Have read through some information in previous part, and not so
clear on some issue about filling out the forms. Which one should come first out of Appointment or DS-160, since am planing to fill the forms my self.
The sequence is, DS-160 then book appointment with the Confirmation number from the DS-160. However, to tie down a date for appointment, you can start the DS-160 and use the application number to book the desired date immediately. You can also update/change the application before the date of interview.

Pls house, Is it possible to bring back a baby to Nigeria and then do d baby's US passport in Nigeria. (A woman did this abt 8yrs ago wen custom stamped just one month stay for her.) Dunno if it's still possible now.
In my case I was stamped in for 3months. So I have jst 3/4weeks to process baby's papers. It takes abt 3wks to get BC alone in Virginia nt to talk of passport
If you can get the Nigerian Passport , it is enough for the LO. However, you will still need the BC for the Nigerian passport but this will save you from VISA to Naija. You will also need the BC for the US passport in future.

you actually don't need the SSN for the passport. you only need the BC. you did be given a form to sign staying that you've not been given the SSN.
I think the SSN is now compulsory for processing the US passport. I was shown a copy of the new directive to the Post Office. BTW, SSN do not take that long ( 2 to 3 weeks for Houston Texas).

I know I’m on the wrong thread for this but please who has any pointers for an Oyinbo wife who needs a Nigerian Visa? It’s so hard to find any useful information. Do you know if there is any thread discussing such on Nairaland? Thanks a lot.
She can use Visa on Arrival. Check the Nigerian Immigration website. You can apply for her via email.

Observation!!!! Peeps painting their stories with a lot of emotions. If America want to pity us, they will have to carry allofus go put for one state in their country.

Seriously, we need to properly and objectively conduct self-evaluation before putting in the application. Seeking online validation won't add to your chances.

The only answer to that is maybe she has color blindness, can't differentiate blue from white.
How sure are you about her sight. BTW, your only answer is not even a correct answer. Blue paper is just the colour of the paper not the content.

good afternoon everyone. a friend of my told me she just finished her interview now and she received a white paper, i was congratulating her and she said they denied her and i was shocked. everybody that got there visa said they got a white paper and am also praying for that not until i heard it from her. please can someone clarify that because my interview is coming November 22. is it possible to receive a white paper and be denied?
The VO has said it times without number that the content of the letter is what matters not the colour. You get a proxy form if your visa is approved or a letter stating the section of the law for which the visa is denied.

NB: Blue and White paper are used for approval and denial interchangeably.

You mean when asked I should say my company email instead of my persinal one I filled on my ds 160 ?
If you can differentiate your personal email from your official email, then you should be able to answer that correctly. The interview is to verify and provide additional information. So it doesn't matter or necessary to put your official (work) email in your application. Most work email can be verified.

Thanks. Sorry for many questions, pls what do you think one should hold for 2wks vacation excluding feeding and accommodation for family of 3?

Honestly, I don't know. Just consider drawing up a budget. Plan for everything you may need to pay money for and little extra. You may not be asked.

Thanks for responding, we are staying with relative. Pls what's the official amount to hold? Is $1k cash OK for family of 3? Or they dont ask at the airport?

No official No standard. You are only required to prove that you have sufficient plan for yourself and others.

Hi modath. Can you throw more light to what he is saying? I would be grateful
I can help with a little light. Some of us can read in-between but you will see response from the surface. Why? Because it is a faceless forum. Humans can not detect bad intentions with 100% assurance and same goes for the VOs. However, lies comes with one or more loose nuts. That is what the VOs look out for not your English or expression.

Another observation: Silent readers of this thread seems to get their visa approved than those who bring there circumstance and stories for validation. Did any body else noticed?

Hello bros, I'm here...Any way I can contribute, I'm ready..
Oya Na. My recent observation is that some peeps are here to read transcript and all to assume character and build circumstance around it.

I remember someone (you or @nef) gave a quote about building circumstance while working towards what you want. That captured the whole situation for me.

Good morning house, how much should I hold(PTA) for family of 3? Thanks in anticipation of your response.
So much that can cover for expenses through the duration. No standard amount. The ideal thing is to research living expenses as it relates the state you intend to visit and draw your budget. Also include miscellaneous/emergency (we call it in case of incasecity)

Please enlighten us
It is simple and clear. Scammers want to get cash for a stolen card they have. They will offer a cheaper ticket in Naira to unaware traveller. The ticket will be purchased with the stolen card "at no real cost to the scammer". Once the theft is reported by the real card owner, the traveller will be the only person available for pick up.
Gurus can correct me if I am wrong, tickets are not cheaper in America. Every airline quotes there prices in Dollars. It is the exchange rate that matters, and in Nigeria, rates are cheaper for Airlines.
So buy from Airlines, trusted sites or ticket agents you know very well.

No. It my hard earned money. I don't want to do business in Nigeria. I want to leave. I still want to Study abroad.
I guess you are here for advise. If you will like to study abroad, look for a study thread. The word "leave Nigeria" sounds like an immigration intent but this thread is for intending visitors.
IMO, take the advise to invest your money before you lose substantial part of it while searching for visa. The brain and grace that gather £10,000 for you as a student shall not leave you.

Please, buy your ticket directly from the airlines or trusted ticket agent not "come and travel agents o".
Don't fall for tickets are cheaper in the US. You may be caught in between a credit scam. I have seen two cases in one month.

I'm trying to upload a digital image to the DS-160 but i keep getting the error below.

It was accepted on the previous page as meeting the standard.

I've tried multiple images
Did you use a scanned copy of your picture or a digital copy. Digital/soft copy from the photographer works perfectly.

Sorry about the refusal Jubril
Tell your bro to visit some of the other countries mentioned by poozee. Preferably not a Muslim state ( no personal bias. Just to make it clear it was a vacation and not a religious thing) and not a visa free state. Then reapply after like 6 months. The time frame is to show he isn't jobless or hankering after the US like a desperado.
Pele
A muslim should go for hajj. It is a purposeful journey for a good travel history.

I don't want to believe that you were issued a Nigerian passport with that picture.
both immigration and US embassy accept head cover.

LadyGuinivere, look at this...

My wife and I applied for the US Visa and were interviewed in August. She was pregnant. But, HONESTLY, we were not traveling so that she will have our baby there. In fact, we didn't plan that because we don't have such money. We wanted to travel for vacation and also to celebrate her birthday. Moreover, we will return to Nigeria before she gives birth.

But, unfortunately, we were denied Visa.

I'm a clergy. My Bishop gave me letter of approval for us to travel and come back.

Here's the interview transcript...

***

VO: Why are you going?
ME: To have our annual vacation.

VO: What do you do?
ME: I'm a priest with the Anglican Church.

She asked my wife, what do you do?
WIFE: I'm a student.

VO: Have you traveled before?
ME: Yes

VO: Where?
ME: India

VO: What did you go there to do?
ME: To study.

VO: Did you travel together that time to India?
ME: No.

VO: Do you have children?
ME: No.

VO: Sorry, I will not be granting you Visa today.
ME: Thank you.

That was it.

Now, I want to reapply. My Diocese is sending for a Church Conference in the US. I will be going alone.

I have a baby now because my wife was put to bed this September.

I want to stay only two weeks.

My ties to Nigeria...

1. Wife and baby.

2. A big congregation I pastor as a clergy.

3. My elderly parents.

4. My Bishop has not approved I stay beyond two weeks.

Guys, what do you think?
Interviewed in Aug, wife delivered in September, purpose of travel; vacation, a clergyman, student wife, Church conference now happening, big congregation, elderly parent et al.

Investment more in time, your circumstance will change and wish shall be granted.

Be that as it may, there is still a warning at the print out stage I think.... Reminds applicants they won't be let in if the passport isn't uploaded
The deed has been done already. The DS160 has been signed, submitted and confirmation slip ready without the picture. A new form will be required at this stage. It will save a lot if the system does not allow submission without the required picture.

NB: Applicant should use digital copy for the picture upload and review the form to ensure the picture is sitting in position.

Whaooo, this is a negative development. US Embassy should fix this, it is not an efficient use of IT platform. From IT perspective, it is difficult for me to rationalise this configuration.
I think they borrowed our culture, they change procedure without changing the system configuration. Changing the configuration would have changed everything. However, how much info do we have as regards their IT. Some countries may still attend interview without uploading picture.
