IMO having 2 BCs is like have 2 Int'l Passports. So far they have same information stating the actual fact. BCs issued in Nigeria is to record a Child's birth by NPC, they should be the one to state if children (Nigerian citizen) born outside the shores of Nigeria should/shouldn't be registered in Nigeria.
I don't agree a document stating the fact can affect anyone adversely in the future.
anonymousmum:

Please. Just stop it for the love of God.

Think about what you are saying. It's like saying because you have a Nigerian BC, you can go and collect American BC as well just because you feel like.

I have held my tongue on this matter but this takes the cake in terms of misinformation.
For same love of God, I have to marry your comment and mine. I will also explain the bolded a little FYI

1.IMO= In My Own Opinion
2.NPC= National Population Commission
3.Citizen of Nigeria (also known as Nigerian Citizenship)=I have shared extract from the constitution earlier
4.Should/shouldn't= authority to decide (base on rules & regulations)
5.Fact= Very deep and wide with many attributes e.g true always, constant over time, verifiable and can come in different form)

NB: Assumption here is that Children in discuss are holding both Nigerian (due to lineage) and American (due to place of birth) citizenship

Kindly help identify the mis from the information above

Why would they "want"? Is there any reason to replicate a birth certificate? One BC is enough, looking for another/more is mere exercise in futility..... some actions we take "just because" may come back to haunt the innocent child in the future... IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE IN LAW....

BANKS PLENTY DEY TROWEY,If one is doing strong head, carry ya kaya and on to the next, when nor be by force to join a particular one?!!!

That's quite early. She must have been a cheerful giver for her to have exhausted her quota that early. Btw I don't believe in the whole quota or slots thing for granting visa
The quota thing is a myth. The white paper is a proxy form and can be printed or copied if need be. IMO the interview works on psychology. I will never attend the interview after 8.00am, the VOs are human and the decision rest solely on their discretion. So, go early enough when the man/woman has not been affected by other things.

Maybe I should share my last interview transcript.

Hello everyone. Just passing by. I saw someone asking of Lady G. She's been on my mind for a while too. Abeg Lady G we miss you ooo. just flash small.
For the birth certificate issue I will advice us not to jeopardize our children's chances in future. The birth certificate or registration is only for children born in the country. I was also in that dilemma when I wanted to open an account with GTB for my children. I went to one of the local Govt council and they asked me where I had the children and I told them in the US. And they said they only give birth certificate to children born in the country but you know the Nigerian factor, they said they will help me if I can pay 'something extra'
There is a column on the form for place of birth and they said I should write Eti-Osa which obviously is a lie. I just said NO thank you and I left.
Moral of the story : what if the child need to get an important appointment in future and a dispute arises as to his place of birth? The child can be accused of possessing different birth certificates.
Please let's do the right thing. Go to another branch present the birth certificate if he has a passport go along with it and your own passport as well. The only issue I had was that the name on the children's birth certificate does not correspond to the one on my passport. I explained that they use mother's maiden name for birth certificate in the US. I was asked to attach a copy of my marriage certificate and that was all the account was opened.
It all depend on how informed all involved are. Citizenship defers from country to country. For Citizenship in Nigeria, we have by birth, registration and naturalization. Many mistake citizen by birth to being born in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the constitution state as follows: "Every person born in Nigeria before the date of independence, either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents belongs or belonged to a community indigenous to Nigeria; Provided that a person shall not become a citizen of Nigeria by virtue of this section if neither of his parents nor any of his grandparents was born in Nigeria. Every person born in Nigeria after the date of independence either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents is a citizen of Nigeria; and Every person born outside Nigeria either of whose parents is a citizen of Nigeria" section 25
From the stated, No banker should ask for a made in Nigerian BC, and if you must get one it should be clearly stated that the child was born in a foreign land.

My question for those who has gotten a Nigerian passport for their Yankee LO, What is stated as the place of birth?

Hello gurus in the house!

I am trying to book an appointment for my 3 kids using my profile but I am being asked for payment receipt for 5 as my husband is also on my profile.

Myself and my husband do not need visas as we already have one?

How do I book this appointment for my kids as payment is already reflecting on my profile?
I had the same problem earlier. I posted the solution some pages back. You create a profile for one of the kids and add others as dependant. One of the parents will accompany them with his/her passport.

No. Your husband will have his own DS-160 separately and indicate yourselves as travelling companion. Ur husband should be the sponsor and u will need to attend the interview together o.

Thank you so much, but I actually did explain to her that I just got married last Sept and I just relocated in October but I failed to add that I was working before. I am reapplying later this week, hopefully.... Will put in more effort at the job part, will give detailed description and for how long I've been working before my present job. Thanks alot
Correct. Make it look like a CV (Resume). Also, ensure it does not deviate from the initial form.

"I've been working with the current place of work which is 6 months cos I just relocated to lagos because of marriage."

I think after saying you have been working there for six months, you should have followed it up with the reasons why, and also make reference to any previous employment. E.g. I have been working at xyz for 6 months, and that was because I relocated to lagos when I got married to my husband, but previously I worked at xyz for abc years. This is why your application form is very important, what you say is easily confirmed from what you filled.

In addition to this, place emphasis on your application form and the interview proper. Putting your mind on those documents is a no no. Fill the job part like you are applying for a dream employment or job. Any other thing can be added by you during the interview proper. God's grace shall found you in your next try.

Hello house! Am new here. I have been following this thread for about two weeks! Salute to ladyguniverse!
I had my visa interview yesterday 28th March for a US B1/B2 visa to visit my fiancée in the US. I had the interview in Abuja. I witnessed about 15 interviews. (No hiding Abeg you go dey hear wetin everybody they talk. I was denied and handed the green form section 214(b) you are ineligible blah blah .... you can reapply when circumstances have changed) my circumstances will surely change I will tell you why. It was a very interesting experience for me and I learnt so much standing and listening to those interviews. Those VOs are well trained and they have so many info about you about your previous travels and some people about 3 couples were told to sit somewhere and they were later called and after so much talk were denied. No body can explain the experience to you! You need to try your luck in person to have a good feel.
I will drop my interview transcript and some others I heard. Trust me I don zero mind say my chance na 2% lol Are you asking why? Good let me tell you why
1. Most answers to my questions are red flags to a visitor trust me. Chap guy wan run. Lol
2. I was not ready to lie apart from being a professional with a lot of opportunities. Also most info on my form and my answers will come up in future cos I will still face them over and over( you will soon know why). And I also want those stuffs on record.(you will soon know why)
Those guys are willing to know you before they issue you a visa even before trump! They know that person over there that invited you and can pull up their info but they don't know yours. They want you to build it without lying. Demonstrate more ties, that's why they will tell you can reapply. They are willing to pile up your info to an extent and ask you over an over before trusting you. Note what you filled the first time and stick to it. If you are denied don't take your mind of the info you submitted. Keep your records and consult that record before reapplying because some people that yesterday messed up with previous infos. You go fear couples wey no remember say dem no get job 2014 when they first applied. Out of the 15 before me, attending conferences, visiting families, students, honey moon, and previous visitors, only one old woman from Ekiti (the children were telling her what to say. Over and over before we went in) she should be over 70yrs rugged trader. she was interviewed by the guy who interviewed me. She used a Yoruba interpreter and bingo she got the white paper! She was still arguing with the vo after getting the white paper speaking yoruba saying Oga where I go collect my passport! The vo called the interpreter back to explain and the vo could not stop laughing! The woman serious about her passport oh lol
Now my story!
I am a medical doctor( fresh out of school inducted into the profession Oct 2016) Will be 34 in May. while in med school I had a son ( 5yrs in May 2017) the mum moved on in 2015 feb cos I could not finish med school ontime. Her moving on and inability to see or talk to my son and after over 4 years of dating with a flamboyant introduction in 2011 made me fail my final exams in June 2015. I was so depressed! June ending 2015 I met a lady online she is African American and a health professional like me. We got talking and the first thing I told her was wooos wobi "I have a son who then was 3yrs plus! She was so happy to hear me say the truth and joked even guys over there will never say such. I said as for me oh na say the truth and die oh! We were talking almost everyday for about 3 months! I asked her out on Skype and we started dating!! (She sent me the toasting video of 2015 in 2016) didn't know she recorded it lol Remember I was repeating my final year so it was tough! 6hrs difference and we were both busy but we didn't stop talking every day. In December 2016 after almost a year and half dating, I sent the necessary documents to her to visit me she was busy remember I just finished med school and begged me to visit. I said it would be difficult. She got a Nigerian visa and January 2017 she landed in Abuja and she said now we will have to abandon the hotel we booked in Abuja and start visiting every member of my family I told her about from A to Z thank God I didn't lie! Oya we travelled 8hr by road to the East to me see my Aunty and her family, I tried to scare her that going to the west to see my parents will be difficult she said no lele we must go. Next thing we were sitting next to my parents. I had already to them about her early 2016. We visited 2 other places in the west. We got engaged and she left after 2 week. Our wedding is scheduled for September 2017 she wanted to file for a fiancé visa so I can enter US to marry her. I said No! Why? Because I have a mandatory 1 year housemanship which will give me a permanent license to practice medicine anywhere in the world after passing the necessary exams. A fiancé visa will take me to us I won't be able to come back and fulfill the housemanship obligation and might have to run the final year of medical school again. Mind you the fiancé visa will take 6-8 months. More so I can't get married without my family attending all of them. She wanted the traditional wedding cos she has been watching too many nollywood movies. The fiancé visa will take 6-8 months, I cannot leave this country without my permanent medical license lai lai (with wetin my eye don see for medical school) which I can't get until I finish house job and she wants a traditional marriage and everything. I advised she should talk to her family maybe the wedding could take place in Nigeria. After so much persuasion they agreed to come to Nigeria for the wedding. Wedding date fixed for September in Lagos and traditional in my home state. Preparations in top gear invitations printed, her bridal shower fixed for May. I never travel like I dey waka this country now for my life on top the wedding. Currently I have not started my house job will resume Apri 2017. Will be about 5 months on my house job by the time of the wedding. Gbaaam the family said in early March 2017 that I should visit abi dem no get right to see who their daughter wan marry? So I filled a DS-160 and booked an appointment! Where is my B1/B2
Got to Abuja from Lagos tired on 27th march a day before the interview of yesterday. I for don put interview for Lagos but I didn't know I would be in Lagos around that time ! Busy busy! I slept in Garki not too far from the US embassy in Abuja. Woke up after failing to even fall asleep checking forum for tips. Woke up 6am for my 7:30am interview. Took a taxi to the embassy and some guys wey dey outside dey hustle just mob me with their staplers, camera, bros woos passport 4 for 1500 naira, stapler and arrangement of documents 300 naira. One woman arranged plastic chairs and persuaded me to sit and after sitting she said 200 naira lol. From the security post the started calling us 7.30am ...... 7:30am we stand and they picked 10 females and 10 males! (I guess early interview na bad luck we were 120 for 7:30am).

After security check and screening I finally entered for documentation confirmation etc. I am a doctor so I was putting on a suit with tie dressed up like tetracycline capsule lol. Many Nigerians are working in the embassy!!!! I fear sef CGi, interpreters etc. after fingerprinting I was told to stand in line. If you have been there before you will know that it's not about dressing oh!

My transcript below!!!!!!!

Me; A beautiful morning to you (with a short smile)
VO: passport please
Me.... for my mind omo this na die..... the guy was facially hostile
VO; where did you attend medical school
Me; I answered with pride
VO; looking at the screen (I stood like rock looking at his face like a military guy)
VO: are you employed currently?
Me: No!
VO: have you ever travelled to any country before
Me: No!
VO: Who is paying for this trip
Me: I mentioned my fiancée name
VO; Who is this person to you
Me; She is my fiancée (confidently)
VO; laughs in mockery ... uhhm you fiancée ( I want that on the record! Cos in September she will be a spouse! Officially) probably he was thinking I don catch am he was going to the United States to marry her.
VO; How did you meet this person
Me: we met online in June 2015
VO: Have you met this person one on one before?
Me; yes she came in January 2017 for 2 weeks, met my family we got engaged
VO: why are you visiting US?
Me: To visit my fiancées family members my would be in laws we are getting married here in Nigeria come September
VO; reaching for the green paper as I was talking. Finally he got hold of the paper! Ehhh what is the assurance that you will come back after your visit?
Me: I am a fresh medical graduate and I currently hold a provisional medical license that will expire Dec 2017 hence I need to get on my mandatory 1 year internship/house job after which I would get the permanent license to practice medicine. I have interviewed in about 3 federal hospitals and am awaiting call up. (I didn't want to say anything about me having a son blah blah cos the boy is with his mum who took him away and his birth certificate not with me! I had pictures of me and my son in my file!)
VO: I am sorry we can't give you a visa now
Me: smiles ...... thank you.

I had a huge file full of documents her every documents, affidavit of support, hotel booking, my certificate and all! I already read that documents don't matter. While standing I saw a beautiful sign on the wall like a painting stating which documents you need to hand over to the vo. B1B2 bro it's just your passport! Clearly written and I hear almost all the vos saying never mind I don't want to see that ..... please keep that ..... no documents pls blah blah blah. I didn't even bother to open the file. I wanted to word with him which I did and was happy. The vos was busy typing all my answers!
Before going for the interview I told my fiancée that we won't be pissed if I don't get the visa and that I will Chanel my energy and preparation into our planning. So when I told her I was denied we were quick to shake it off. I told her see you in September She said nope she will be in Nigeria June to greet her in laws again cos she still has a valid Nigerian Visa! The denial saved us $1500 air fare at least and BTA and ample time to focus on my scheduled job interviews and time to focus on the planing towards the wedding. I feel sick already running around! Lol
Honey moon planned for Munich in Germany cos I support Bayern Munich football club. (She dey wonder why we Nigerians like soccer) I sha convince her say na Munich. Now we are thinking of the honey moon in the USA cos many of her family members won't be able to make it and I still need to meet them. She and her family members have booked their tickets to Nigeria since Late February. She is scheduled to leave for US 15th September. Now we want to leave together. By 10th of September God willing we ll be married. Now I will have to apply for the B1B2 again so we can travel back together for the honeymoon!

Now they gave me a paper that says you can apply again when your circumstances have changed!
Let me highlight things that will change by then!
1. Now single, then I will be married to a Citizen
2. Now jobless, I will be about 5 months into a job half way into my internship which I need to complete to get my full license (professional tie)
3. Now no money to sponsor my trip, then I ll be on almost 190k salary monthly (federal medical center) then I have a job that can make me come back (economic tie)
4. Then I can say I have a son to come back to (family tie)
5. I will be able to get a letter from my employer that I have been given a 2 week leave (professional tie)
If after all that they still refuse me, life will still go on! Am tough and prepared for that! Med school prepared me!

House please point to where I made a mistake and advice on my future plans. Also advice me whether by that September we should book my flight and book and pay for where we will stay for the honeymoon. We are looking at Hawaii, etc.

I will update with the transcript of the other interviews!
Thanks

Correct guy. Ur write up is very interesting. I can't find any loophole maybe some pros can sha. You seems to be in full control and know exactly what you want or good for you. Your visa shall come at the appointed time.

I just tire.
The metro bus or train is there in some states and very cheap.Uber is there taxis are there.
Just use google to know your route and bus number.
If you stay in a place that there is no metro route take a cab to the nearest park and ride or transit center and off you go round town on your way back do same.
My view though correct me if I am wrong
Actually, your view is correct in your own situation. You do not have a complete knowledge about others. I am sure most people wanting to rent and drive a car are male. It becomes a necessity considering the transportation system and the support required during the trip. Budget is also there to worry about. The least is "if something happen". So let pray for ourselves.

Dear All,

Is it advisable to apply for B2 (Birthing Visa) with my Husband?
We are both in Nigeria.
My Passport is Virgin but my Hubbys' who is funding isn't.

Thanks My Ppl.
Applying with your husband (since he will be funding the trip) seems more beneficial. A VO another thread said ''To a degree, the credibility of one family member impacts the others, both positively and negatively. An example is when children qualify through their parents despite having no income or other ties''.

Now you are being rude, there is a thin line between sarcasm and being rude. I live in Atlanta Ga, i know what i am talking about dude. Most of us come here to claim holy holy, ask your uncle, Aunty, sister, brother, father, mother etc how they got their legal status in the USA( tell them all to return home first). Intent is left for USCIS to evaluate, not you or anyone here. It's left for congress or a presidential order to stop or halt the process.
I only replied Mamaoo because she made reference to a couple who came and didnt go back, then applied for asylum. We do know their plans prior and what promted the change in plans. #holyholy #USApresident
. I don't intend to be rude and I apologize if it sounds rude to you. I can't even say I am holy. I live in Nigeria and I know the word "stay" is a fancy word for "by any means" here. I also have relatives going/gone through stay process like u said. The one I do not have is the one that did not plan his/own.

In summary, where I grew up, you plan to stay US once you enter or come back to face Naija struggle. Nothing must happen by accident. Nobody will even ask you for the class of visa u have. Wole jade or Ko duro

Uncle or Aunty... Did you read the part where he said that their sole intent is to process "stay" visa once they get issued with a B1/B2 visa? Or am I missing something here? They had the intent to run. Use the VISITING B1/B2 visa to gain entry into the US and then overstay and try to legalize afterwards. They had the Pre-conceived intent to from the get go

Even if you got a job while on a B1/B2, they still have to either file an H1, and H4 visa or an L1, L2 visa. And mind you, you will need to change status from to be able to work and that means they need to exit the country and apply for those visas OUTSIDE of the US. Their B1/B2 can't be changed inside the states. There is no such thing as work permit. They need to exit the country and apply for an EB visa and that's not set in stone. People still get refused the visas even with a job offer.

As per F-1, yes you can apply for change of status in the US to an F1 while on a B visa and still stay in the country but you will need an F visa to reenter the country if you leave the country. Most times sef, those change of status requests are denied. And by the time they deny you, many have overstayed.

What law are you talking about?
My pesin no need all this explanation. We all know the meaning of intent. We all know that things rarely happen by accident. You attended a visa interview with strong tie to Nigeria and assumption that you stay will be so short and brief. While in US you suddenly jam people on a queue and you asked them, what is happening here? Someone screamed "Job fair/Open day" and you papapa remembered that you have a degree that u have not finish using or a WAEC and TOEFL u never touch. Thank goodness, you brought the originals mistakenly. Job and school wey no reach for Naija. U kuku grab one.
You later go club one night. The night is for ladies only but you are not aware. After all you are JJC from Africa. All the ladies present were crying and you were surprised. What happen? You asked and they chorused "All the men in the world has deserted us". Why why why? From your church mind you promised to marry at most one, one and only one.
From the narration, did anyone see "preconceived intent to". It is just accidental and has happened to most Nigerians in US.

Guys...

I have been on this thread many years ago right from part 1.

I got my visa some days back, if I had followed you guys mouth I would have been scared to go ahead with my interview.

All you guys telling people they are not qualified to apply for US Visa, please stop that... there are people well qualified with strong family ties, married with children, travel history and have a well paid job that are still denied US visa.

I know of people with no strong ties to Nigeria...single, low pay job, no travel history... that were still given visa.

Let the VO decide their fate; stop talking rude and harsh to people that they are not qualified to apply for the US Visa.

My advice to all, take time to fill the DS-160 form, you don't have to be in a hurry filling it and ensure you are honest in the form. Most questions you will be asked is base on what you filled in the form.

I didn’t call anyone name here o... but if you feel guilty na u sabi...
Congratulations to u my gee. I want to believe you actually read through like some of us did. As a smart/sharp guy u took the rice and left the stone for some that will come here for evaluation.
I can't count our many times the VOs on NIV thread said nobody can tell u your chances, the best for you is to be honest and be prepared.
So, if people come here for consultation, the oracles may decide to pieces there not too strong confidence. Don't blame people that offered solicited advise then they only answered because they were asked.
Lastly, anybody that think his/her life depends on the visa should apply and pray to God to touch the heart of the VO. This is the biggest factor in the process.

Please. I need direction on how visa appointment should be scheduled for 2 kids btw 5 and 2 years old. Father and Mother have valid visas (won't expire soon) already. Thanks
I was able to get a response from the customer support. The required method is to create a profile for one of the kid and add the other(s) as dependant(s)/family/part of the group under item 6. By this, the all can schedule an appointment as a unit.
Note: They will be accompanied by either of the parent

Hello borryworld. The interview appointment is made in the same way as for the parents. At least one parent will need to accompany the children.

I was able to get a response from the customer support. The required method is to create a profile for one of the kid and add the other(s) as dependant(s)/family/part of the group under item 6. By this, the all can schedule an appointment as a unit.
Note: They will be accompanied by either of the parent

Thanks for the response.
The challenge is the profile to be used in scheduling the appointment since neither of the parent is applying themself.
The two kids are supposed to be dependants. I am thinking of creating a profile for the elder as the main applicant and add the younger as dependant. So, they can schedule the appointment together.
I don't know if this is the required process in this situation. Please, I need proper guidance.

Good day everyone

Kudos for the good work being done .

My visa appointment is this coming week. I have all my documents ready but the funds in my account Is not up to that In the budget sheet. Has anyone been in this kind of situation? What can I do? Anu additional documents i can add to convince the VO that I will get the funds before travelling or what I can say if asked the question of insufficient funds? Thanks
The VOs hardly check bank statement. I want to believe there decision to approve your visa rest majorly on your application (D-160). The interview is to validate this position. So be prepared to answer them convincingly if asked.

Our Interview Transcript.
This all happened today Feb 27.
We got to the embassy late, 8.15am for 8'o clock appointment (no thanks to Lagos Monday morning traffic).

VO: Good morning
Me: Good Morning
VO: Where are you going in America?
Me: Houston, Texas
VO: Why are you going there?
Me: DW is going to give birth and am taking vacation to witness the arrival of our LO (@ this point the VO wasn't looking at me, he was just shaking his head and typing).
VO: What do u do (facing me now)?
Me: Am....working for...so (VO confirming from the screen and nodding)
VO: What level are u in the organization?
Me: ......level and awaiting promotion to the next level ( I'm not sure he had that promotion part)
VO: Mam (facing DW smiling). What do you do?
DW: Homemaking (He confirmed from the screen).
Me: The nature of my job (I noticed he nodded so I stopped)
VO: Have u traveled outside Nigeria?
Me: Yeah. We went on pilgrim.
VO: Together
Me: No. At different times
VO: How do u come about the hospital?
Me: Referral
VO: How much do u budget?
Me: Approximately.....k
VO: Please. This is a rear case we ask for some document. Do u have any correspondence from the Dr?
Me: Passed the email and Hospital quotes to him
VO: Look Look Look Look and returned it to me.
At this point, he was shovelling the two passports. He put them to his right and pass a white paper (proxy form) saying something something Thursday. I collected it ( in my mind, I said, thank you I understand) and stepped away. 9.05am

We give all glory to Almighty Allah. Alhamdulillah for the smooth ride. Thank you all for ur contributions, encouragement and support. Our ways shall be blessed.
