MsFm: Ask your boyfriend to tell you the real reason(s) he was denied boarding. Airlines will only want to see if he has a valid visa/entry clearance for his final destination. E no concern Air Maroc which airline him wan use for him return trip. Well, at least from my personal experience. 2 Likes |

eniola1010: 2. When you invite a friend from Nigeria for your graduation, they are assessed on the merit of their application (and risked-assessed based on that). The UK is very unlikely going to issue a visa to your friend who is capable of ‘elopes’. (I think your use of the word is improper in this context, but that na talk for another day). It is the reason why your friend who is single, earning less than £50 per month, owns no businesses and with zero history of international travel is likely to be denied in the first place. 3. Ever heard the word estimate / forecast? They will use a forecast and deduct. End of tax year, if they deducted too much, they refund you. If they deducted too little, they send you later to pay the balance. 4. Ever heard of HMRC Starter checklist? See page 2 of the checklist. I have attached a screenshot for you to see. 5. It’s not exactly true to say ‘most jobs ask for DL’. Maybe most of the jobs for which you are qualified and looking for are asking for DL. If they do, it’s because it’s required. A Project Manager working for HS2 (for example) may be required to travel to site where public transport is not readily available. 1 Like

babajeje123: Decision email is usually pretty standard, doesn’t tell you whether or not visa has been issued. What is important is whether or not there is visa vignette in the passport. Wait and receive the passport. The real decision will be there. |

bigtt76: Ordinarily, I will leave you to bask in your ITK. Problem is, a lot of people who seek to get good recommendations & advise on this thread could be misled, by you. To every newcomer wanting to apply for a Credit Card (if you must): Instead of jumping and clicking on referral links straight up, please use online tools to check cards that you are pre-approved for. These checks do not leave any ‘hard’ footprints on your credit file. And like I mentioned previously, once you have a ‘pre-approved’ status for a card & you apply, you are 99.99999999% sure of getting approved. The online tools also show you % likelihood of getting other cards. My advice: On the flipside, a first timer simply jumping on a referral link (because of the glamour of Avios points) could get rejected, leaves a hard search on their credit history and makes it MORE difficult to get credit facilities. Neat trick: if AFTER using the online tools and you are ‘pre-approved’ for AMEX, then, you are free to now come back here and click on bigtt76 (and others’) referral link. I choose to ignore that bit where you resorted to insults. Afterall, I am a grown up, and can only vouch for myself that I am. Don’t know about you. 6 Likes |

bigtt76: Surprises me the sort of comprehension some people have. Someone used a referral link, and applied for AmEX credit card. And was rejected. That someone is advised to go for pre-approved cards to be near certain of eligibility before applying, rather than blindly clicking on referral links and getting rejected. If that is not a good advise, then I don’t know what is. But well comprehension is hard. 1 Like |

Overthinker: Several factors to consider. Ages if the children. Visa type (you didn’t mention if both parents are working or will be working. Or if there is a student visa involved. If you are on a workwr visa, you need to consider if it’s an A-list sponsor or just some mediocre sponsor who will ‘bring you’ to the UK and then decide to put you an a queue for training and not pay you for >1 month. Do you have plenty plenty money to spend should things not go on as expected within your 1st 3 months (for any reason)? Etc…. 2 Likes |

CowbellY: Context bro. Context. If you had taken time to read the original post, and what I was responding to, you would have understood. ‘Also, if they apply themselves, they get fewer points…’ while that sounds right, the crux of my message was: Do not just jump on the bandwagon & use a referral link to apply for a credit card. If you apply , and you are refused, it damages your credit records/scores. If you had read more, you would have seen where I suggested that newbies should use comparison websites to see cards that they are Pre-approved to get. 99.9999999% of the time, pre approval means acceptance. |

Phil46: Calm. Down. Why do you badly need a credit card? Scroll through the thread. You will see links of comparison sites that allow you to enter your details and check your eligibility. These sites can actually show you the cards that you have been pre-approved for. Apply for one of those pre-approved ones. Then begin the journey. Small small. For now, you may want to ignore people dropping their referral links (I mean, ignore the referral links, not the people). Trust me, those referral links are for their own interests, not yours (in the first instance). 4 Likes |

Some very helpful individual will come and say… “ you mean you came to the UK without having enough money to take of yourself for 7 months..” Bla bla bla… And the person(s) will even go the whole distance of blaming the victim for not having enough buffer or planning well. 11 Likes |

Emmy2023: Do not allow some very sanctimonious humans on this thread to gaslight you. You did nothing wrong. You did not make any mistake. You trusted the process. You believed that the anyhowness in Nigeria remains in Nigeria. Never in your wildest imagination did you think that in the UK, an employer will delay your pay for over a month, for any reason. It’s the company that sponsored you that is the problem, not you. It was not a mistake. Maybe a learning curve, but definitely not a mistake. There are bullies everywhere, even on this thread. They may want to gaslight & bully you, using different kinds of words and sometimes outrightly disparaging statements and phrases. Give them no heed. 31 Likes |

justwise: I agree 100% with @Solumtoya that this response is 'Privileged Opinion'. It is possible there is some sense in what Justwise was saying, but the way it was put across is just not wise (my opinion). Granted, Justwise has done some fantastic work on nairaland but sometines his responses (like this one) is'nt fair. I think Justwise conflated the financial requirements for STUDENTS (Tier-4) with that of workers (Tier-2). As someone who has worked (as admin) in a firm that issues CoS, I know for a fact that we have the choice of either selecting that we will make maintenance funds available to the worker we are sponsoring, or we could tick NO. In the latter scenario, the worker is responsible for keeping their PoF in a bank for 28 days to show that they have money. There is a reason why the maintenance PoF for WORK visa is different from STUDENT visa. This is because for WORK visa, the worker is expected to be paid (IN FULL) from date of commencement of 'Work' (I put work in " " here becasue onboarding/induction/training is considered as Work. It makes sense for a student arriving to have some 'buffer' of more than a month (well, that would already have been submitted in PoF anyway). But for a worker, 1 month is enough, as the worker is expected to receive their first salary not more than 1 month of arrival... This is common sense. References: https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/how-much-it-costs The first screenshot is part of the CoS application for a worker where the sponsoring company is agreeing that maintenance funds will be available for the worker. In this screenshot, we ticked YES. It means the worker is not expected to show any PoF. If we ticked NO, then the conditions in the second screenshot must be met by the worker. 16 Likes

gratefulme40: I would think carefully… There is no such thing given by the Lab (or GP) as STI-positive. The lab (GP) result will clearly state what is the causal organism. Infact the labs may state the method and or equipment used to arrive at that result. Additionally, it doesn’t take someone’s husband to play away match to get a UTI - a UTI can be an STI. Finally, the You said the person is ‘fairly certain’ Oga has not played at Old Trafford. That leaves the slight possibility that Oga may have played in a Sunday league team. ….. I would be cautious in going down the legal route. I would demand explanation from the GP. I would make sure I clearly get a ‘sorry we made a mistake’ or at least I get a non-reasonable explanation before I sue. 6 Likes 1 Share |

A quick question please. We are doing a massive decluttering of our house. We have 3 Large Ghana-must-Go bags containing our used clothes . These clothes still have a lot of life in them- some are still with tags... I have put them in 3 Ghana must go baggs, and each of them weigh 25Kg. If I want to ship them to Nigeria (It will be useful for Internally displaced persons in my state). Does anyone have any recommendations? Shipping them to Abuja? |
