Barcelona vice-president Carles Vilarrubi has hit out at Jose Mourinho and claims he will be a 'disaster' if, as expected, he returns to Chelsea after announcing his departure from Real Madrid. Mourinho is ready to bid farewell to Spanish football after three eventful years at Santiago Bernabeu. The enigmatic Portuguese coach has courted controversy throughout his time in Madrid, with regular clashes with arch-rivals Barca seeing him hit the headlines for events on and off the field. Vilarrubi says no-one in Spain will miss Mourinho and his antics when he has gone and feels the Premier League would be ill-advised to welcome him back with open arms - six years after he brought a successful three-year stint at Stamford Bridge to a close. The Barca chief told The Daily Telegraph: "It is not good for English football. Chelsea maybe think they had a good time from him in the past, but you will see the real Mourinho now. "If he behaves like he did in Spain it will only be an unhappy relationship. A disaster. And at his age he is not going to change. "My position is not because he was the coach of a rival, but because of who he is and what he did. His three years in Spain he only creates disagreements, arguments. There is nothing positive he brings. "You can learn good things about life from watching people in football, or the circus, or the opera. There was nothing he brought that was good. There was no positive balance. I cannot see anything good about him. Not one thing. In sporting terms, maybe I am not the person to ask. But in cultural terms, he was a disaster. "Apart from his aggression to the coach of Barca, the ambience he creates everywhere he goes, the relations with the players, with the press, are absolutely terrible. I am happy that he is leaving. And so is everyone in Spanish football. "I am just glad he has gone. I am not interested in him. Go leave, goodbye." http://web.orange.co.uk/article/sports/barca_chief_blasts_mourinho |

• Diet soda: Isaac Eliaz, MD, integrative health expert and founder of The Amitabha Medical Clinic and Healing Center in Sebastopol, California, advises you to stay away from any diet soda or foods, sugar-free candies, and gum containing artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, aspartame, acesulfame K, and neotame, among others. • “The safety data on these sweeteners is shrouded in controversy and conflicts of interest with the manufacturers of these chemical compounds,” Dr. Eliaz warns. • Independent research strongly suggests that when metabolised in the body, these sweeteners can cause health-related issues and problems related to metabolism and weight gain, neurological diseases, joint pain, digestive problems, headaches, depression, inflammatory bowel disease, chemical toxicity, and cancer, among others. • Fast foods: Fast foods, typically, are loaded with all sorts of ingredients, including genetically engineered corn, food dyes, artificial sweeteners, and other bad actors in the food supply. The type of farming that supports this type of food business relies on harmful chemicals that not only threaten human health, but also soil health. • Canned tomatoes: Frederick vom Saal, PhD, professor of biological sciences at the University of Missouri, says the resin linings of tin cans contain bisphenol-A, or BPA, a synthetic oestrogen that has been linked to ailments ranging from reproductive problems to heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. • Studies show that the BPA in most people’s bodies exceeds the amount that suppresses sperm production or causes chromosomal damage to the eggs of animals. • “You can get 50 micrograms of BPA per litre out of a tomato can, and that’s a level that is going to impact people, particularly the young,” says vom Saal. “I won’t go near canned tomatoes.” http://www.punchng.com/healthwise/foods-you-shouldnt-be-eating/ Source: rodale.com |
Over the weekend at the African Union Heads of states summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan was nowhere to be found when it was his turn to address the assembly. In an attempt to defend what many critics believed is a terrible embarrassment for Nigeria before the comity of nations and showcased the country’s wobbling diplomacy under president Jonathan, Senior special Assistance to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Rueben Abati said the president was attending a smaller meeting on the sidelines of the AU event, at the time he was called to deliver his address. Despite the claims by the presidential spokesman about the absence of the President, one still wonders why his boss preferred to attend a smaller event on the side even when the primary purpose of the trip to Addis Ababa was to attend the AU summit with a full awareness of the speaking schedule for all heads of state at the meeting. But Mr. Abati insists there was nothing wrong in the President’s sudden disappearance at a time it mattered most to showcase the immense opportunities that abounds in the the country. That notwithstanding, several sources according to SaharaReporters confirmed “that the Nigerian president was too irate and inebriated to go and address the meeting.” He was said to have been so infuriated over the outcome of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum election which produced his arch rival in the person of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of River state as the winner that he drank himself to a stupor. “Mr. President made several calls to Governor Godswill Akpabio rebuking him for allowing the elections to take place even when it was clear that the president’s candidate Governor Jonathan Jang was likely to lose”, one of the source told SaharaReporters. Earlier reports had it that the president was in the toilet at the time he was called upon to deliver his address at the summit. This report was later confirmed by one of the sources to Sahara Reporters that the president had a problem with Diarrhea, adding that the ailment was a direct result of the president’s excessive drinking to the wee hours the night before. The effect of the excessive drinking and the diarrhea that resulted took its toll on Mr. Jonathan such that he looked unsteady when he eventually returned for a photo-op with other African leaders after missing his chance to speak at the when called upon. The question the presidency needs to answer is how exactly the election of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum is and whoever emerges the chairman a more important task to the president than the responsibilities placed on him by the constitution? http://abusidiqu.com/?p=13155 |

BREAKING: JOSE MOURINHO AGREES FOUR-YEAR CHELSEA DEAL JOSE MOURINHO will fly to London on June 2 – and sign a four-year contract at Chelsea worth £250,000 a week. Mourinho will jet in the day after his final game in charge of Real Madrid to seal his mega deal. That is a commitment of around £50m from owner Roman Abramovich for the second coming of The Special One. Mourinho is so keen to get started in his new job he will not waste any time after Real’s final game against Osasuna at the Bernabeu. He will be accompanied on the trip by his fitness coach Rui Faria and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro. But there is no prospect of Chelsea signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Madrid as the superstar’s relationship with Mourinho has broken down. Although Mourinho is coming to London on Sunday week – he bought a home in the capital last year – there are no plans yet to formally announce him as the new boss at Stamford Bridge. His salary this time is around three times what he was paid when he first arrived at the club in 2004. Real Madrid and Mourinho, 50, confirmed they will part company at the end of the season. And because the split has been mutually agreed, Chelsea will not have to pay any compensation to the Spanish giants. Via Daily Star http://www.pslnonline.com/ent1.php |

160 Nigerian Students Now Begging In Russia Over 160 Nigerian students who are on the federal government scholarship in Russia are now begging to survive due to lack the non-payment of their allowances in the last six months, it was revealed yesterday. This revelation was made yesterday by the leader of the Association of the Federal Government Doctoral Candidates in Russia, Godwin Ezinkwo, during an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs. Ezinkwo who stated that there are about 150 under graduate and 10 post-graduate students currently studying in Russia on the FG scholarship said that this is the worst form of scholarship by the Nigerian government. Ezinkwo informed the committee that for six months now, they have not been paid their allowances, a situation that made them to beg their counterparts from other African countries like Ghana, Zimbabwe and the rest for assistance. He said that the students also suffer in terms of accommodation because most of them are yet to pay for their houses, adding that they currently face eviction. “Russia is a very hostile country in terms of weather and other things. It is very embarrassing and difficult to cope. Nigerian students are now living at the mercy of other African scholarship students like Ghana, Zimbabwe and all that. They lend money to us, so Nigerian students are like beggars. They’re begging, if one has to use that word. It’s as bad; begging other students from African countries. It’s demoralizing. We also have to bring up the issue of accommodation. The agreement in its raw form provides accommodation for students, but unfortunately some of the host countries do not honour this agreement. Students are made to pay for accommodation, but they’re unable to pay for the accommodation, because their stipends and remittances for at least six months have not been paid. As I speak to you now, students are going to be evicted from their hostels because they cannot pay for the accommodation,” he said. “We have the issue of medical insurance. Because the allowances for all these have not been remitted, students are also going to be evicted, because you cannot stay in somebody’s hostel if you’re not medically certified,” he said. He said that they had written several letters to see the Nigerian ambassador to Russia in order to have a one-on-one interaction with him on their plight but in vain. “With due respect, this is the worst form of scholarship obtainable from Nigeria when you take a look at scholarship programmes such as the PTDF, NUC Presidential Scholarship, TETfund, NDDC, ITF and even state scholarship programmes. The irony of the whole situation is that students are sent to one of the most expensive places in the world with the worst welfare package,” he said. Chairman of the committee, Rep Abike Dabiri-Erewa (ACN, Lagos) assured that the House would do everything within its reach to unravel the matter in order to help the students. “It is shameful that Nigerian students that are sent on scholarship to other countries have resorted to begging. It is really a sad commentary. You don’t deserve this kind of treatment. We should be ashamed that this is happening. How can you be good ambassadors if you’re treated this way? “We are going to do our work. We’ll meet with the ministry of education and the relevant stakeholders and find out what the real situation is. We will get back to you when we finish our findings” she said. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php/news-news/54670-160-nigerian-students-now-begging-in-russia |
