Remarks of Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers at Press Conference on Bombing Investigation Our collective law enforcement team has pursued thousands leads and tips. As I said two days ago, we are working methodically and with a sense of urgency to identify those responsible for the bombings. Within the last day or so, through that careful process, we initially developed a single person of interest. Not knowing if the individual was acting alone or in concert with others, we obviously worked with extreme purpose to make that determination... More importantly, it was done to ensure the future safety of the city, the commonwealth and the country. Indeed, through that process, the FBI developed a second suspect. Today, we are enlisting the public’s help to identify the two suspects. http://www.fbi.gov/news/updates-on-investigation-into-multiple-explosions-in-boston After a very detailed analysis of photo, video, and other evidence, we are releasing photos of the two suspects. They are identified as Suspect 1 and Suspect 2. They appear to be associated.

The Abuja Police Commissioner, Olufemi Ogunbayo, has rubbished Dino Melaye’s story that there was an attempt to assassinate him on Monday night. Speaking in a telephone interview with Premium Times, Ogunbayo pointed out a number of facts, that did not support the former lawmaker’s account of the incident. Ogunbayo confirmed that Melaye had reported the assassination attempt to him, but when they visited the site of the incident, there were no traces of shells and no evidence of gunshots. “The car was said to have parked few meters away from his and the next thing he (Mr. Melaye) heard was a loud sound which he taught was a gunshot. Dino Melaye never said the shot was aimed at him,” the police boss said. “The police have gone to the scene of the crime and we could not find any car parked there; no trace of shells on the ground.” “And there is car dealer store at the area which we went to ask if they heard any gunshot and they said no they never heard any gunshot.” Ogunbayo also confirmed that the car window was not bullet proof, which means if it was shot at, Melaye would have been dead and that the crack on the window, could be as as result of a loud sound. “If they had wanted to kill Dino, they do not need to drive and park meters away from Dino’s car before shooting, they would have just blocked his car and shoot him at the spot, so that cannot be called an attempted assassination. And how then is it possible for you to be in your car wind up enjoying the air condition and a very cool music and then you hear a gunshot?” he said. Investigations are still ongoing, but Melaye’s car has since been returned to him http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/04/17/alleged-attempt-to-assassinate-dino-melaye-there-was-no-trace-of-shells-on-the-ground-abuja-police-commissioner/

patriot4: If someone came and killed, you father, your mother, your children, your nephews and your friends; and then an other person comes to the scene and says that the killers should be given money and that those of them who were arrested should be unconditionnally released, then what would you do ?I have said times without numbers that I don't support his call for release! Don't you get it!? BTW, if somebody came and killed the whole of your family, you may decide to forgive him/her. That depends on your believe |
patriot4: The sultan is a religious fanatic, I saw an interview he gave to the BBC, in which he said god at list 100 times, it was the puntuation line of everything he said. He said that he did everything he did by thinking only of how it relates to his religion. No consideration for humans, none at all!!! That is the man you so deerly respect.Sir, I am sorry you are missing the point! I don't have respect for him |
patriot4: "She added, “USCIRF has recommended since 2009 that Nigeria be named a “country of particular concern” (CPC) due to the government’s failure to hold accountable perpetrators of religiously-related violence. While since 1999 more than 14,000 persons, both Muslims and Christians, have been killed, USCIRF has been able to document that only 1% of the perpetrators have been prosecuted.”"I am not advocating for their unconditional release. I only oppose the name calling and the hasty conclusion of the first guy, before you put it upon yourself. |
patriot4: How can you reason with someone who has condemned logical thinking? You don't get something right here! I have not condemned logical reasoning in any sense |
patriot4: now you are proving I was right to call you the names I called you. How? Bring forth your reasons, if they are convincing, I will accept the names you called me |
patriot4: Logical thinking, and common sense suffice. It doesn't work that way bro! |
patriot4: I think you need to get your brain examined by the best physicians alife. Logical thinking is to you a personal opinion that doesn't stand on proof. You are a literate waste. Go and line up with those who doen't care for the commun man and defend the terrorists, since that is what you consider the best thing to do.Easy bro, don't insult! I have made my point clear without insults. If you are so sure that you are not being driven by emotion and sentiment, bring forth your evidences against Sultan |
patriot4: How else can you call him since he has become the spokesman of terrorists. Have you ever heard him condemn boko haram ? Have you ever heard him sympathize about the non muslim victims ? All he does is defend boko haram with inconsistent logics. But you know he can have all he wants, but not without the division of this country into 2.Still not enough reasons! I am not a muslim and I don't know Sultan from nowhere, but I love to approach issues logically. I quite understand where you stand, but all I see from your post is personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof. I hope you get my point |
The Oodua Peoples Congress has told the kidnappers of the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Authority, Kehinde Bamigbetan, that they would regret their action. The OPC, which revealed it has joined in the search for Bamigbetan, said no one touches a Yoruba man the way the kidnappers have done to Bamigbetan and goes scot free. The President of the OPC, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, who made the position of the group known, said members in Lagos State and the South West will collaborate with security agents to free Bamigbetan. Fasehun said: “We just heard about this unfortunate incident, which has filtered through Lagos State and is all over the internet. “Kehinde Bamigbetan is our son, a Yoruba man. “Whoever touches any Yoruba man touches the apple of OPC’s eye and will pay dearly.” The statement by Fasehun added: “We warn whoever is behind this evil act that Bamigbetan must be released unharmed. “Not one strand of his hair must be hurt.” http://theeagleonline.com.ng/news/opc-to-bamigbetans-kidnappers-you-will-pay-dearly-for-this/ |
patriot4: Come on, this unconditional release he is asking for doesn't sound well at all.I am not in support of his call for unconditional release for detained Boko Haram members. In my opinion, that is not enough to call Sultan those names |
obyrich: The Devil's Advocate at work. They are his foot soldiers. He is the religious leader and likely gonna be the leader of the Islamic Nation the BH sect is fighting for. What do you expect? He wants more blood to flow because his religion is sustained on blood sacrifice- from those of cows and rams to human blood!Well, that's your opinion |
The sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar called on President Jonathan to unconditionally release all Boko haram members to show good faith in the proposed amnesty offer at a meeting in Aso Rock yesterday evening. According to the Emir, “The meeting was about the state of the nation, the security challenges we are facing. We sought the appointment and the opportunity for the President to know our views about the security situation and how to go about resolving the crisis. We recommended the use of dialogue as one of the strategies to resolve the security challenge and at the same time to devise strategies that will encourage or lay the foundation for sustainable peace in this country. “Our presentation was preceded by long time discussion and deliberation. In a nutshell, what we sought to do is to give our views having regards to our background, our knowledge of various societies, various communities what we think should be done to resolve the crisis and ensure sustainable peace in the country. The issue of amnesty came up, it formed part of the strategies we are recommending but of course it has to be done properly with better appreciation of the situation rather than haphazardly which people think should be the case. We believe that we have to give very serious consideration and make sure that whatever we do is sustainable.” He concluded http://www.naijapundit.com/news/unconditionally-release-all-boko-haram-members-in-detention-sultan-tells-jonathan |

Stamford Bridge return on the cards and targets already earmarked by the ‘Special One’. Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal to return as Chelsea boss and has been handed a transfer warchest by Blues owner Roman Abramovich and has already begun earmarking targets for this summer’s transfer window according to the Daily Star. The 50 year old Real Madrid boss has apparently agreed a three year deal with the Stamford Bridge club and has been handed the final say on transfers, a stipulation that was a key part of negotiations to return to Chelsea, and will target Zenit striker Hulk as one of his first additions this summer. The 26 year old has not had the best time of it since his move to Russia, netting just four goals in 13 league appearances, and would probably jump at the chance of a move to Chelsea. This source suggests that links between Abramovich and Zenit’s owners Gazprom could be the key to securing a deal to sign the Brazilian international. Mourinho knows just what Hulk is capable of having taken note of his achievements in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, and in particular his exploits during his stint at FC Porto. During his five year spell at the Estadio Dragao Hulk netted 78 goals in 169 appearances and helped the club to three domestic titles and a Europa League success before he left for Zenit in a £42m deal and one would imagine that a move to Chelsea would cost the West London club at least as much as the £50m forked out for Fernando Torres, who’s future at the club seems to be under threat by such advances for the powerful forward. Hulk would join fellow countrymen David Luiz, Ramires, Lucas Piazon and Oscar at Chelsea should he make the move to the Premier League side. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/04/10/jose-mourinho-agrees-three-year-deal-to-take-over-as-chelsea-manager-brazilian-striker-targeted-as-first-signing-of-blues-return/ |

The “Reform and Rebrand Alamieyeseigha” project is well and truly on. To achieve that, the ghost of Nigeria’s late former president, Umaru Musa Yaradua has been summoned. The former Bayelsa governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, whose pardon last month by the National Council of State has continued to generate uproar and disgust by most Nigerians, gave his first interview since his pardon to the London based NewsAfrica magazine. In the interview, which was published in the April edition of the magazine, Alamieyeseigha said something which has never come up since the conversation on his pardon began, not even by the presidential spokesmen. he said that the state pardon recently granted him by President Goodluck Jonathan was part of the plea bargain deal between him and the Federal Government, then headed by Umaru Yar’Adua. That would come as a shock to most Nigerians. Many would have assumed that if Alamieyeseigha’s assertion is really true, then the president, through his handlers would have brought it up, especially as President Jonathan allegedly was aware of the agreement. Alamieyeseigha said: “This pardon did not start from Goodluck (President Jonathan). It was part of the agreement with the government. Because Goodluck knows the story from the beginning, he was just carrying out part of an existing agreement.” READ: No Comments Today; But Here’s What Okonjo-Iweala Said About The Alams Saga In 2007 (Video) So what was Alamieyeseigha bringing to the table? Peace in the Niger Delta, he says. “My own part was to deliver on peace in the Niger Delta by convincing the militants to accept the Federal Government’s amnesty programme. I convinced the militants to accept the FG’s amnesty and I have not stopped ever since. The country owes the peace in the Niger Delta partly to my efforts. Till today, every day, I get one report or the other and I intervene because they all see me as their father, leader and governor general.” If that’s the case, then Alamieyeseigha’s phone lines would currently be ringing non-stop, following the renewal of hostilities in the Niger Delta by terrorists. MEND claimed on Sunday that it was responsible for the killing of 14 policemen a day before. Just like in 2010, when their claim of responsibility for the October 1 bombing was hastily dismissed by the president as untrue, the police has also faulted MEND’s claims of being responsible for the murder of the officers. READ: MEND Claims Responsibility For Killing Of 15 Policemen Alamieyeseigha insisted in his interview that he was innocent of the charges against him, and was prepared to fight the corruption charges against him to the end but accepted the plea bargain for three reasons (which he had also said in the court then before the judge passed the sentence): His age and deteriorating health; the escalating violence in the Niger Delta and the loss of the lives of the youth protesting for his release; and because he saw Yar”adua as a man of integrity. Alamieyeseigha said he was in Dubai on medical treatment when Nuhu Ribadu, the then chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) generated a letter purportedly from the government that he ’was persona non grata and planned to overthrow the government of Nigeria”. The allegation came about after his five of his former colleagues and Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, visited him at the hospital. The Federal Government then sent security men to whisk him back to Nigeria and straight to the EFCC cell, although he was in the middle of his medical treatment. “I could not even walk because I had a metal implant in my groin’. He said: “Ribadu said he did not care if he died there. The following night, Ibrahim Lamorde, (the present EFCC boss) brought a phone to me and said it was President Yar’Adua who wanted to speak to me. He (Yar’Adua) said ‘Ginuwa (his traditional title in Katsina), I cannot be President and see you die because they will kill you. I am the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria not Olusegun Obasanjo (anymore). The information available to me suggests that they will kill you. So come out. Do not contest anything’. Asked by the magazine who he thought the ‘they’ were, he responded ‘forces in government’. According to Alamieyeseigha, Yar’Adua, promised him that ‘you are not going to spend one day in prison. I will give you pardon. Come out and help solve the Niger Delta problem. But I know how stubborn and difficult you are when you believe in something. So, I am going to send your younger brother (Goodluck Jonathan) the Vice President to you: to speak to you and to convey my decision’. The former governor said the Vice President came following day and was shocked to see his state of health: ‘He (Jonathan) made a statement, “This is the man in this state that wants to overthrow the government of Nigeria? He conveyed Yar’Adua message. I slept over what the President and the Vice President said and I felt they were making sense’. On why Yar’Adua did not give him the pardon before he died, Alamieyeseigha said the then President had asked him to apply but the political forces against him then generated a security report that he was paired with Atiku to contest the 2011 election against Yar’Adua and Jonathan. “They advised him to step it down till the duo got their nominations from the PDP. “I laughed because there was no way under the heaven that I could contest election against my younger brother, Goodluck Jonathan.” In comments that may reveal one of the reasons Yar’Adua removed Ribadu from office, he said he had gone to Abuja to thank the President for freeing him when Yar’Adua asked “when I will be ready to take up ministerial office to help him solve the Niger Delta problem. I told him I had a metal implant in my groin and needed to go and remove it.” http://www.thescoopng.com/late-president-yaradua-wanted-to-appoint-me-as-minister-ex-convict-alamieyeseigha-reveals/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter

After visiting the Awutu health clinic in Ghana, I’m impressed by their work on Malaria. Cases in this region have dropped by nearly 4,000 since 2011. One case is too many, but there are important lessons to learn from what is working. Ghana is making rapid advances on its path to development. There are now more mobile phones than people, the infant mortality rate has dropped 48% since 1990 and Ghana’s institutions are reducing inequity and promoting economic growth. That’s what I call progress! https://www.facebook.com/BillGates
