@Franknetter You can consult a credentials evaluation agency(I have forgotten their name)to evaluate your transcripts for a possible transfer to a medical school in Chicago. You are on greencard and not citizenship and under American law if you stay outside u.s for particular number of months it will be revoked automatically meaning that you will have to start the whole process all over again.Contact an immigration lawyer there to confirm what I just said.
and you think it's easy to transfer to a med school in chicagohuh are you aware that med schools here are for people with Bachelors degrees? @Op don't even have a Bachelors degree

Even me that that had my medical degree in Nigeria, it hasn't been easy trying to hustle my life here as an Immigrant not to talk of coming with no degree!
who said you can't work with a Nigerian degree here?? for Medicine all you need to do is to write the USMLE and apply for a NON COMPETITIVE speciality for residency! get done with it and start your life!
you only need a US Degree if you are a Dentist.
as regards your family's decision to going back to Nigeria, here is what you should do, "MAN KNOW THY SELF"
let them know your stand! if you ain't interested in Being a doctor, you've got to tell them straight up! they may allow you stay! else, it's never too late bro!
https://anpa.org/

that's The website of the Association Of Nigerian Physicians In America! look for the anpa chapter closest to you contact any member of that chapter for guidance and advice!
all the best

Hello frank! have been a secret follower of the thread! nice job though! Am a Nigerian Doctor here is NC! @Osahon7 has taken the words of my mind so I guess I really don't have much to say!! You may want to go back and read some of his comments! abandoning your medical school in Nigeria for the US trip was a very wrong decision if you really had a passion to be a Doctor!People say getting a admission into Medical school in Nigeria is tough but here in the States is SUPER HARD AND DIFFICULT! You've got to have excellent high school grades, excellent Undergraduate grads as well as "GOD'S FAVOUR" to get in!
you complain of not knowing when to graduate in a Nigerian University, medical school in Nigeria is 6years Officially but it's actually 8 years(with or without strike depending of the school) Isn't that the exact duration you spend here? 4 years Pre med/ Dent and another 4 years med school proper??
I have a friend that took same decision years ago, he abandoned his med school in Nigeria with the Hope of starting over in Canada, on arrival, he became so frustrated with the system that he eventually went to a technical school and he's now working in a technical coy

@FRANKNETTER Thank you for this thread, I actually read every comment on this 40 page thread, God bless you bro
but I will say, to me oo, you should have finished med school first before leaving oo, Nigeria is a Hell yes we agree, but it's actually the cheapest place to get a professional education before emigration ,Getting a Medical Degree in US is Money,a lot of Competitions,Huge Student loans etc You and I know how much Medical professionals rack in per month in the US. and you can't compare Jobs like Medical Doctors, Dentist,Nurses and Pharmacist with ANY Computer or IT JObs.Except you never had the passion to be a Doctor though . Am a student Dentist still in medical school here in Nigeria , am finishing Next year December by God's Grace, my Dreams is going to US to have my chains of Dental Clinics.
I wish you all the best my brother! the God that did yours will do mine when am ready to leave the Zoo in Jesus Name.
This man is very wise and exposed!! kudos man

You're just being foolish
I asked you the advantages of American passport or citizenship and you don't even know what Citizenship or passport means.

Dumb head, a person living in America who is a permanent resident can work, go to school, marry, stay here for more than 200 years, American citizenship is when you stay here for more than 5 years or you were born here, citizenship means that your country is now America, there is no difference between a person who lives in America and an American citizen.

And if you come here to give birth, your child will automatically become an American citizen but the child must stay in Nigeria for 18 year before he/she can come to America to live permanently.

You're dumb as fuvck
A Citizen can Vote and be voted for but a PR can't

I just want to know the reason why Nigerian pregnant women travel to the USA to give birth.

It still baffles me
They Come abroad to give birth and move back to Nigeria! When the child is grown,he/she relocates to the US and start enjoying the benefits of a US citizen meanwhile thier parents have never paid any Tax what so ever form to the US Govt.

Thanks so much for the enlightenment.

Those private lenders do they operate throughout the US or regionally or on a state by state basis?

In short how do I find them so I can apply? should I send you a PM or can you answer here?

Whichever is convenient? I really appreciate your time
getting a student loan if you have a co signer shouldn't be what you should worry about. Just Focus on passing your board exams.Regards and best of luck !

Thanks.

2 year degree program BSc Nursing

Already have a Nigerian RN and several years of experience

Seeking more challenges and better pay

Still struggling with CGFNS verification. problems have to do with the nursing council back home having a policy of attaching their transcript to CGFNS documentation instead of filling the documentation the CGFNS sends.

Once that is cleared will be able to take the NCLEX exam

I just hope the student loan thing works for other health disciplines not just dentistry since it should not be impossible to pay back within a couple of years once employed

Maybe the professional exam thing is going to stand in my way of the loan
International Students are usually not eligible for US Govt funded loans. The loans am talking about are private loans.. You may be eligible for Private loans.
