Arielle: Anything oh! At this point any advise would be really helpful. Canada is a weird country, though. Where you decide to settle depends on the kind of job you want. I also hear there is still high unemployment in a lot of areas. Are you in HR? In Toronto? I really don't want to go to 'Winterpeg'! I'm in HR and in Toronto. To be relevant in this field you need to write the certification exams like Cke 1&2 to be a Certified Human Resource Professional. That will be your starting point and you can move up from there.... You could also do other certifications depending on ur area of expertise such as payroll certifications, compensation and benefits, etc You will also register to be a member of HRPA. Human Resources Professional Association. They usually organize job fairs and you can apply to HR jobs from their portal. If you have the required skill sets for a job; you won't be unemployed. You will definitely find something. Also, while searching for jobs you could offer to volunteer with united ways,Costi,Ymca, etc. Volunteering is a big thing in Canada and looks good on your resume as an immigrant. |

Arielle: Hi Hamilton. I'm wondering the same thing. I saw your post several days ago and have been looking out for a response to it. It seems HR is not popular among immigrants hence the dearth of response and information on this thread. From some eesearch , I get the impression that its a difficult field to break into. I thought of doing a PGD, but I'm getting a bit confused. Please share any additional info you may come across. Good luck! What info do you need about HR in Canada? |

My prof in uni (over 13 yrs) still uses same lesson notes to teach engineering with (theoretical) practicals as the lab equipment never functioned for a seconds...so u use readings that was collected over 15 years ago when the machine was working or better still u inter polate & extrapolate... |

FlirtyKaren: Lawyer and Human Rights activist, Emeka Ugwuonye shared this story of a Nigerian man divorcing his wife in America on his Facebook page:
His wife filed for divorce. He came to me. I didn't want to represent him. I sent him to another lawyer, an American. When he came to the lawyers for interview, they called him into the conference hall to talk with him and to assess his case.
They asked him to tell them the problem between him and his wife. He told them that his wife and her relatives have been trying to kill him. They asked him to explain further. He told them that his wife's relatives use diabolical means to attack him. The lawyers got really confused. They stopped writing. They told him to please explain what he meant. He said his wife and her relatives are witches and they attack him at night.
Each lawyer went to get a cup of coffee to listen. He told them how his wife and relatives would turn into birds and flight to his bedroom and attack him at night. The lawyers asked him where those relatives of his wife lived. And the lawyers picked up their pens to write down the names and addresses of these witnesses.
The man told the lawyers that they live in Nigeria. The lawyers asked him how would they come and attack him, expecting to hear the airport they landed in. But the man was so sure of himself.
He even became argumentative and said: "Don't you know how witches move?" The lawyers were flabbergasted. The man went on: "They fly to my house at night".
The lawyer asked: "Okay, when they enter the United States where do they stay?".
The man fired back: "They don't stay. They just attack me and in the morning, they will fly back".
The lawyer asked: "Where do they fly back to?".
The man replied: "Nigeria".
The lawyer had to be sure, so he asked again: "So, they fly from Nigeria to your house each night, and fly back to Africa in the morning?".
The man said yes.
The lawyer called me to ask me if I had any objections if they sent the man to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. I told them I had no objections. That would be in his best interest.

Feygbe: Hi.Is your sibling the principal applicant? If yes, you do not need to show your proof of funds. Transfer the money into your siblings account and keep the proof of transfer. You can either transfer it in naira into her naira account or USD into a dom account. Prepare the gift deed on A4 and notarize it. You can also do an affidavit for her. Then she uploads the gift deed, the affidavit, the proof of transfer and the bank letter.
You can also send me a PM. Thanks. Will send u a PM shortly |
