Is it wrong to mount burner on the cylinder directly?
Very wrong. Car designers understand this. If the engine is at the front of the car, the fuel tank should be @ the rear and vice versa. Having the engine and tank at same spot is high risk.

People that are using small cylinder usually keepnit at home.
Gas cylinders whether big or small are meant to be outdoored and hosed to an indoor burner.
