To me honestly, I think it shows the human nature in Christ himself. As first person to comment put it, it shows some anger or frustration been transferred to the innocent fig tree since that wasn't its time to produce any fruit.

This is where I like Moses of the Old testament, he would have challenged Jesus to know His reason for such actions like what he did to God Himself when he wanted to destroy the children of Israel in the wilderness. He asked God what's the point of bringing them out of Egypt if He knew He will only come and ridicule him and Himself in the wilderness by destroying them, because by the time the Egyptian and the rest of the world will hear the news later, they will not respect Him again.

Sometimes as a christian, I think we ought to challenge God or Jesus in some ways at least to the best of our knowledge. Jokes apart, I think one of Jesus guys then should have summon up courage and asked that "Baba, but you don't need this now. Why do you curse the innocent tree?". But none of them ask questions only for Peter to be making reference to dead tree the second day, and knowing that whatever comes out from Jesus mouth is Yes & Amen.

Peter & others could have stand in defence for the poor tree at that moment and who knows, if our humble Christ would have revoke back from the tree. Imagine the people within the surrounding that feed on that tree and later heard the story about it demise will definitely not be happy with Christ and His boys.

So, in my conclusion, I think Christ was that day upset with something and over reacted on the poor tree.

To be honest, the fight for independence for my SE brothers should begin rigorously with them. Not only the few struggling and fighting a battle they cannot win. Let them pick a capital and start building all their business entity and diverting all other business there.
