Why Ndi Anambra Queue Behind Soludo Second Term Ambition From Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu, Awka In a rare show of unity and political maturity by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, the entire political architecture of Anambra State converged with a single voice as all 21 Local Government Areas rallied behind Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, unanimously endorsing him as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the forthcoming gubernatorial election. In a release signed and made available to Newsmen, the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime said the APGA convention, held in a charged but peaceful atmosphere, recorded 3,260 accredited delegates, out of which 3,175 cast their votes. Of those, 3,168 were valid, with only four invalid entries—each one of the valid votes going to Soludo, a clean sweep that underscored the confidence reposed in his leadership. Chief Nwaegbo Uche, chairman of the electoral committee, officially declared Soludo returned as the party’s candidate, citing the unprecedented support across the board. The votes came from every part of the state—Aguata, Anambra East, Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Ayamelum, Dunukofia, Ekwusigo, Idemili North, Idemili South, Ihiala, Njikoka, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Oyi—all affirming one voice, one vision, and one candidate. The exercise was transparently conducted under the watchful eyes of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from both the federal and state levels, who monitored the entire process from accreditation to collation, attesting to its orderliness and credibility. Taking the stage amid thunderous applause, Governor Soludo was visibly humbled. In his acceptance speech, he paid homage to the founding spirit of APGA, describing it as the first registered progressive party in Nigeria, dating back to 2002. “Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra,” he declared, a phrase that drew cheers from thousands gathered. He spoke of his gratitude to Ndi Anambra, to the clergy, traditional rulers, the over sixty support groups, students, and countless individuals whose voluntary cash donations and constant encouragement had propelled the journey thus far. He acknowledged their testimonies, many describing his administration’s performance as “magical,” yet he reminded everyone that progress must remain a collective mission. “It is only together that Anambra can do better,” he said. Governor Soludo outlined the core of his administration’s accomplishments—an ambitious but realistic blueprint built around five critical pillars. He cited the recruitment of over 8,115 teachers and public servants from across the country as part of his push to revamp human capital development. He highlighted gains in security and law enforcement, where criminal hideouts had been dismantled and peace gradually restored. He spoke passionately about the economic transformation ongoing across the state, support for micro and small businesses, and the empowerment of artisans and traders. He reflected on the massive infrastructure development, especially road construction connecting rural and urban centres, and the drive to make Anambra cleaner through aggressive waste management and urban regeneration. Soludo also touched on his strides in digital governance, value system reforms, and efforts to deepen transparency and accountability in the public sector. He reassured party members and the entire state that the journey was far from over. “We have only scratched the surface,” he said. “I will not let Ndi APGA and Ndi Anambra down. I cannot and will not take this trust for granted.” With conviction and clarity, he declared the goal of winning not just the election but every ward and polling unit, insisting that the vision is to build a future in which no one is left behind. In an expected but strategic announcement, Soludo reaffirmed Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as his running mate, stating that their partnership, which had produced visible results, would continue to drive the next chapter of transformation. As the crowd erupted in renewed chants and applause, it became clear that this was not merely a political event—it was a people’s movement. From every ward and every village, the message rang loud and clear: Anambra has chosen continuity, vision, and leadership. The 21 LGAs had not just cast their votes—they had cast their future.

Anambra’s Solution Lens Platform Earns Stakeholders’ Praise at OGP 2.0 Action Plan Launch By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu Anambra State's commitment to transparency, citizen participation, and technology-driven governance received a major boost recently, as the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in collaboration with UNICEF, launched the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan 2.0. In a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Angela Nwanodu noted that the major highlight of the event was the sneak preview of the Solution Lens platform — an innovative digital tool developed by the Anambra State ICT Agency and championed by the Ministry to operationalize open governance and enhance citizen engagement. 'Though yet to be officially launched, the platform was presented to stakeholders as a powerful demonstration of how technology is being leveraged under Governor Soludo’s administration to bridge the gap between government and the people. It drew high praise from stakeholders, including UNICEF, civil society organizations, private sector players, and the National OGP Coordinator. 'Described as “open governance made easy” by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, Solution Lens is a citizen engagement platform designed to empower the people. It provides a centralized space for citizens to track government projects, voice their concerns, and engage directly with policymakers. “The goal is to make a real, tangible impact on the lives of citizens,” she emphasized. In his remarks, the MD/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, highlighted that the platform reflects Mr. Governor’s vision of building a smart, livable, and prosperous megacity. He noted that Solution Lens is a user-generated content platform that grows more dynamic and impactful through active citizen participation. “This platform is the result of many months of dedicated research, strategy sessions, and high-level approvals,” he stated. “Anambra is among the first states to consolidate all its digital resources into a single unified platform — anambrastate.gov.ng,” Agbata added. “Solution Lens, with its dedicated URL lens.anambrastate.gov.ng, serves as an extension of this central domain. Its true strength lies in the interaction it fosters — the more Ndi Anambra engage, the more powerful and impactful it becomes.” CFA reaffirmed the Anambra State ICT Agency’s commitment to the state’s ongoing digital transformation. “Our push for OGP 2.0 is powered by technology,” he said. “We understand that without technology, bridging any governance gap in today’s world would be challenging.” Stakeholders at the event praised the platform’s transparency and interactive features — including real-time access to state projects mapped using GPS, with project details and timelines. These features offer an unprecedented level of visibility and enable citizens to monitor the progress of projects in their communities. Several stakeholders shared their excitement about the platform’s potential: Dr. Victor Chima, Social Policy Officer at the UNICEF Enugu Office, commended the Anambra State Government for developing such a laudable platform. He noted that, if properly implemented, Solution Lens could serve as a one-stop hub showcasing all of the state’s achievements. “People can easily see how Anambra is performing — locally, nationally, and globally — all with just a click, without the need for long explanations,” he said. “Anambra State has not seen anything like this before. The Google Map on Solution Lens shows each individual project, its location, and status. One of the projects a traditional ruler recommended some time ago is already being implemented on the platform,” said Mr. Ezeodili Francis, a private sector representative. Ugochi Ehiahuruke, Executive Director of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), speaking on behalf of civil society organizations, described the platform as a “charter of demand made easy,” urging citizens to take advantage of it to ensure their needs are captured and to follow up on government interventions. The National OGP Coordinator, Dr. Gloria Amadi, described Solution Lens as a fantastic “citizens’ feedback mechanism.” She applauded Anambra’s leadership and pledged to spotlight the platform at the national level. As anticipation builds for the formal launch of the Solution Lens platform, one thing is clear: Anambra is setting the pace for citizen-driven, technology-enabled governance in Nigeria. The state is not just talking open governance — it is living it, digitizing it, and putting power back in the hands of its people.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim; the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze; the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme; Deputy Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Chinedu Nwoye. Others are the former House of Representatives member, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe; former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor; Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne; Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; among others. Governor Soludo, addressing the gathering, described the event as “a unique commissioning, considering the calibre of people present,” and emphasized that the gesture was more than symbolic—it was a message of unity, continuity, and respect for those who contributed to Anambra’s development. 'I don’t really need to be thanked because I am doing what I applied to do,” he said. “Doing what has not been done and improving what has already been done. The philosophy remains—one state, one people, one agenda. No one should be left behind. To me, the state is one constituency. Therefore, everyone and every area must be carried along.” The governor further explained the inclusive developmental model of his administration, recalling his visits and interventions in neglected regions of the state, particularly the northern axis. 'We must recognize that the North, which has the largest land mass but lacks heavily in infrastructure, is the reason I started work there, particularly in Okpoko,” he noted. “A few weeks ago, we returned to Okpoko to commission what we have done—projects that give people life. The same applies to Olumbanasa, where no governor had ever visited before. Now, we are opening up that axis with planned connection roads to Eziagulu-Otu, Mkpumnando, and others.' Soludo recounted his emotional experience when he first visited Enugu-Otu, Aguleri. 'I cried publicly when I went to Enugu-Otu for the first time. Past governments may have ignored it due to the difficult terrain, but that must change. We are working to ensure that no part of Anambra is left behind.' But the climax of the event was the honour bestowed on Chief Willie Obiano. Soludo lauded the former governor’s efforts during his tenure, particularly in initiating the airport project and constructing the International Convention Center (ICC) in Awka. 'Today, we celebrate one of our own—Chief Willie Obiano. He did his best. The airport, the ICC, and many other legacies. We must appreciate him and send a message—not only to him, but to all past governors of Anambra State. They must be appreciated and immortalized.' He compared the naming of the road to “Willie Obiano Boulevard” to the famed "Bill Clinton Drive” leading to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, describing it as a fitting tribute to a man who dared to dream and deliver. Stakeholders from Oyi and Anambra East—including traditional rulers, legislators, and the Mayor—showered praises on Soludo for his inclusive governance style and for recognizing the contributions of his predecessor. His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Sir) Ben Emeka, the traditional ruler of Umueri, thanked Governor Soludo for completing the road and other impactful projects, and passionately appealed for the extension of road infrastructure to link Anambra East, Ayamelum, and Anambra West to the airport. 'This is how leaders ought to lead—with a sense of history, unity, and purpose,” remarked Igwe Ben Emeka. His Royal Majesty, Igwe P.N. Anugwu (Ogilisi Igbo), traditional ruler of Ukwalla and Chairman of the Anambra North Traditional Rulers’ Council, commended the governor and pleaded for the ongoing Anambra West road to be extended beyond Nzam to the remote Olumbanasa communities. Barr. Obiora Nweke (Elegelede), representing Anambra East in the Anambra State House of Assembly, and Hon. Innocent Ojike (Ojicam), representing Oyi Constituency, also expressed their appreciation to the governor for siting key developmental projects in Anambra North, saying it reflects a balanced and inclusive administration. The unveiling of the new boulevard was marked with applause, cheers, and cultural displays—capturing the moment’s deep significance. It wasn’t just a road that was commissioned—it was a bridge across generations of leadership, a statement of shared destiny. Governor Soludo ended with a powerful message: 'We are building Anambra and its children for the future. Let history remember that we honoured our heroes, united our people, and laid a foundation that could not be shaken.'

It equally had a five days Psychological screening, consultations and counselling services to the public at Pearl Suites, Ifite Road, Awka and a wrap up with another Radio Talk Show on Anambra Broadcasting Service Radio Awka on 7th, April, 2025. Speaking shortly after the event, Dr. Vincent Onwughalu, Capoon, Honduras Deck said NAS Medical Mission is the association's special purpose vehicle to reach out to those who do not have access to health care. The ongoing Mental Health Fair is part of the association's concerted efforts to promote access to health care in commemoration of World Health Day 2025 in our own immediate environment. He pointed out that different decks of the association globally are also carrying out various activities and events that are health and wellbeing related based on the peculiarities of their respective immediate environments for the benefit of the public. According to the Capoon, "Given the level of hardship in the country and how this impacts the mental state of people, it became imperative to create an avenue where professionals in the field of mental health can attend to the members of the public who leverage the opportunity of Mental Health Fair provided by the association. "In this case, beyond the consultations with the professionals for screening, assessment, diagnosis, etc, at least ten (10) persons whose cases are considered to be beyond benign would be escalated for treatment. Furthermore, those who attended the Fair and those who listened to us over the radio know that they can easily access our partner in this event, Nedal Psychological Clinic, Awka, any day in person and/or virtually. Importantly, it is not a one-off event. As far as the conditions that cause depression, anxiety, suicide, suicide ideation, etc, are prevalent in our environment, we will continue to come up with similar events based on the findings of our research". He added that Credible organizations that share our vision of a just and egalitarian society, where no one is a victim of discrimination, marginalization, colour, sex, belief, etc, are at liberty to partner with us. We are open for functional partnerships and effective collaborations. He called on the public to take their health and well-being very seriously. "We need to be alive and healthy, to enjoy the fruits of labour. In this part of the world, mental health is yet to be given the desired attention. I enjoined the members of the press, especially the journalists who cover health, to join the advocacy for the awareness. " In his address, Prof. Nnaemeka C. Abamara, Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Mental Health Expert and the MD/CEO, Nedal Psychological Clinic, Awka, “mental health is part of a bigger health issue but has a problem because most Nigerians do not take care of their mental health, which can affect the general health of humans.” Abamara described mental health as a collective response to behavioural changes. Good mental health will enable a person to live a life free of stress. People should pay attention to their mental health. The Unizik Don attributed some root causes of mental health among Nigerians as abuse of drugs, economic meltdown, and high price of commodities, leading to excruciating mental problems such as depression, stress, anxiety disorder, and bipolar disorder, as a result of inability to pay school fees feed, pay rent, among others. He advised the public to seek the services of a clinical psychologist/consultant for expert advice and prophylaxis, do things like relax your mind like exercise, sightseeing and do little you can and leave the rest for nature. While adding that people should reduce high work where they work from January to December without taking time for vacation to rest. For his part, Vincent Uwukhor, Second Mate, Blizzard Deck maintained that despite the growing awareness of health and wellness, many communities still lack access to reliable, preventative care resources and lifestyle education "Mental Health issues is a public health concern and must be taken seriously this advocacy is needed to bridge this gap by offering accessible wellness services and raising awareness of practical steps individuals can take to improve their health. This initiative is designed to bring these resources directly to the community in a relatable and engaging format.” He noted further that “raising awareness around preventive health practices and accessible wellness resources, facilitate community interaction with health and wellness providers, to promote Blizzard Deck’s community health initiatives, provide free blood pressure screenings and personalized health advice and encourage sustainable Mental Behavioral lifestyle changes among community participants are some key plans put in place to ensure a progressive society. Project Officer and Second Mate, Honduras Deck, Emmanuel Udeh said the initiative to host the event was as a result of the abnormality in the country where people are under strains, struggling with economic hardship. "You notice an increase in stress and depression and we observed particularly among students, incidences of [attempted] suicide and regular complaints by academics. As a responsible organization known for foresights, instead of waiting to see the worst, we decided to take proactive steps where we can address this issue rather than allow the individuals to deteriorate to that level of degeneration, taking drugs, self-harm, or suicide ideation. We say, let's allow them to talk to professionals and share their concerns. That way, we are investing in their future and our collective sustenance. "The programme started on 3rd April with a Radio Programme at Unizik FM where we sensitized the university community, which is the primary target. The event proper continued till this day at Pearl Suite Awka, wrapped with the ABS talk show. It's been impressive, and I commend those many courageous individuals who came up to share their thoughts, utilize the opportunity, and Nedal for offering their expertise and experiences. " The event will set the groundwork for ongoing partnerships between Blizzard Deck, Honduras, and community-based organizations. Insights and contacts gained will inform future community health pop-ups and outreach events.

Anambra APC Lampoons Umahi for Saying Soludo Has No Opposition, Says He's Protecting His Interests By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The Anambra State branch of All Progressives Congress, APC, has lampooned the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for saying that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has no opposition in the November 8th gubernatorial election in Anambra State, accusing him of working for his pockets and interests. The party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr. Valentine Iyke Oliobi, who made this known at the party's Secretariat Awka, while addressing, emphasized that despite internal disagreements, the APC remained a united family determined to conduct credible primaries and win the governorship election,' even as he expressed the party’s desire to connect the state to national politics. He said that this time, the APC would get it right, and surprising those who expected a crisis would be ashamed. According to him, unity is what defines a party, and the APC is ready to approach the election with a united front. He further noted that the party’s National Working Committee had directed the conduct of credible and transparent primaries and that they are committed to pursuing the election as one united entity. 'As of today, APC is one united family, and any internal issues we have will be resolved internally as a family. On April 5th, we will hold primaries that will be accepted by all of the aspirants,' he said. The state publicity secretary of APC, Dr. Oliobi said the party has all it takes to take over government from Professor Chukwuma Soludo next year. According to Oliobi, Anambra people can not be carried away by the praises recently showered on Governor Soludo by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, during his recent visit to Anambra State. He argued that a core party man can not come to a state controlled by another political party to make such a statement. 'Our party frowns at Umahi’s statement and would take necessary action at the appropriate time,' he added. His words: 'Recently, the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, while on an official working visit to Anambra State, showered Governor Soludo with praises, but let’s not be fooled—that praise was hollow, contradictory, and oxymoronic. 'Anambra people cannot be carried away by Minister Umahi’s sugar-coated words because in-between the lines of the so-called praises are nothing but a diplomatic way of expressing disappointment by the Minister. 'If Umahi truly meant his words, why did his tone sound more of surprise than genuine admiration? Let us not mistake a handshake for a hug. 'Umahi, being an engineer himself, knows what real infrastructure looks like. He was sincerely very disappointed with the politically motivated awards of contracts by Gov. Soludo in the bid of seeking reelection. 'What he saw in Anambra was not impressive, but underwhelming. His remarks were not a validation of success but a subtle reminder that Anambra is not where it should be. 'Aside from Minister Dave Umahi’s unguided utterances in support of his business ally, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, during his recent visit to Anambra State, it is equally worthnote that Minister Dave Umahi and Gov. Chukwuma Soludo has a joint interest on most of the federal road constructions in Anambra State,' he concluded.

Chika Ekwenugo, Director Media Publicity, Comrade Magnus Eziokwu (ANEM Director, Contacts & Mobilizations) and Convener/National Coordinator, APC First, .Hon Engr Ifeanyi Obidife, Director Finance, Hon. Ezekwelu, a former Chief Whip, stated that the group is a coalition of Socio-Political & Religious Pressure Groups, Civil Societies and Non-Governmental Organisations, which strongly believe and committed to bringing Justice, Equity and Fairness in distribution of elective and appointive political offices in Anambra State and Nigeriaat Large. 'This will ensure that all facets and classes of Ndi Anambra are given Sense of belonging irrespective of Geographical Origin, Religious belief/Creed, profession/class, Gender, Education and other classifications, in order to save the state from potential political cum electoral violence that can emanate from obvious frustrations from sustained political domination and intimidation. The group is poised to assiduously employ every effective means of Mobilization and enlightenment to achieve our set goals making Anambra truly the light of the Nation. 'The Flag-off Ceremony of the Equity Campaign for Anambra Guber 2025 was held on Thursday 20th February 2025 was well attended by capacity participants from all wards in the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State. Deliberations were deep, frank, dispassionate and far reaching without fear or favour. 'EQUITY RESOLUTIONS ON ANAMBRA 2025 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION AND GOING FORWARD- PASSIONATE APPEAL TO NDI ANAMBRA TO UPHOLD JUSTICE, EQUITY, FAIRNESS WITH BROTHERLY CHARITY 'ON ZONING BY GEOPOLITICAL EQUITY: The movement resolved that the Anambra Governorship by geopolitical should remain in South Senatorial Zone for the next four years. In South Senatorial Zone should be zoned to Old Nnewi Division made up of Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo LGAs; whereby Aguata/OAU have got over Six , 6 years of Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife and Prof. Charles Soludo and Ihiala held Governorship for Four, 4 years under H.E. Dr. Barr Chinwoke Mbadinuju; both divisions having held power for over Ten, 10 years to the exclusion of Old Nnewi Division in Anambra South. The concept of geopolitical zoning can not be over emphasized, among its importance include but not limited to political stability, political tension management, cost effectiveness etc. In the spirit of sportsmanship and brotherhood, we shall not fail in acknowledging the political party that have adopted in its earnest the zoning formula. As matter of fact, a certain political party in Anambra has made it a condition precedent to purchase of its nomination form. According to the dictate of the party, if an aspirant is not from Anambra South and particularly the old nnewi such aspirant will not be entitled to purchase the parties nomination form. Kudos! We hereby appeal to other major Political parties to follow same dictate. '.ZONING BY PROFESSIONAL/CLASS EWUITY: That Non-Practicing partisan politicians recruited from diaspora having held stranglehold on Anambra Governorship for Twenty, 20 uninterrupted years, scheming out real practicing grassroots politicians who work assiduously to keep the political parties and democracy alive in Anambra out of power, since H.E. Dr. Chris Ngige, OON, Onwa left office in 2006; It is just, fair and equitable that a well known, credible and capable candidate from the practicing political class should be zoned/elected 2025 Governor to give sense of belonging and life back to practicing politicians. This will make for sustainable political succession plan, mentorship and proper training (Iko Akpa Politics) for current and future leaders as is the case in Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia States and other states in West and Northern Nigeria. 'ZONING BY POLITICAL PARTY EQUITY: The meeting by overwhelming majority resolved that for Justice, Equity and Fairness, the next Governor of Anambra come November 8th 2025, APGA having ruled for 20 years, PDP for Seven (7) years, Anambra should try another political party and best option for next Governorship by all considerations, All Progressives Congress, APC which is the ruling Party at the center or any other viable Party with strong Non Catholic candidate. All participants pledged to work assiduously to ensure the APC and other parties meet our criteria of bringing out candidate who has been practicing Politician on ground from Anglican/PFN/among other CAN blocks from Old Nnewi Divisiom (Nnewi North, South and Ekwusigo) of Anambra South Senatorial Zone. 'We agreed to meet formally reach out the potential candidate(s) who meet all our zoning criteria to partnership/collaborate towards achieving desired victory come November 8th 2025. The candidate shall be formally unveiled in due course. 'Our Structure under the able leadership of Hon Sir TonyUche Chukwudi Ezekwelu, KSJI as the Convener/Chairman of the movement with Comrade Engr Anthony Aniebuo as General Secretary together with the Central Working Committee, LG EXCOS, Ward Excos are fully in place advocating and mobilizing massively towards achieving our set goals. 'We resolved to unleash massive media awareness/enlightenment and stakeholders advocacy to ensure that all major Political parties Guber Ticket inclusding APC, APGA, PDP, Labour, NRM, NNN PP among others go to the best, competent, capable Non-Catholics candidate that can win the November 8th Guber. 'For 7 above, we resolved to formally write and pay advocacy visits to convince all Party leadership, Hierarchy of Catholic, Anglican, PFN and other CAN Bishops/GOs, Ndi Igwe, Town Unions, Youth Groups, Market leaders, Labour Unions, CSOs among others that the only way for Anambra Guber 2025 is for power to shift Nnewi Division from Catholics to other CAN Block especially Anglican/PFN for Justice, equity, fairness and Christian charity/brotherhood as the only way to ensure lasting peace, good governance and development. 'Our working documents and instruments has been adopted and put into action since Thursday 20th February 2025. We resolved to leave no stone unturned in achieving our set goal. Our adopted candidate who meets all these set criteria should personally assure the members and All Ndi Anambra that they will be fully supported and carried along before, during and after the Guber primaries and election proper and in government. Addressing newsmen in Awka, Onyedum stated that the briefing was part of the 2025 and the 3rd edition in the series. 'Inasmuch as this is the 3rd edition, a lot of questions are still been asked as to what ANSSI is all about and its relevance to sports development. 'It will interest all of us to know that part of the manifesto of His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo was to develop sports from the grassroots 'As a product of school sports, I saw it as the opportunity to actualize Mr. Governors vision, hence the birth of ANSSI. 'ANSSI is a sports competition involving primary and post primary schools, including public, federal, private, and mission, at various age categories (U-12, U-14, U-18). 'I make bold to say that within two years of ANSSI, the State is now the cynosure of all eyes as our athletes have performed creditably in national and international competitions 'Our ANSSI products are scartared all over the world, including the United States of America, Europe, and Asia. In Nigeria here, two of them are enjoying full scholarship from a sports academy in Abuja. 'Our records at the National Youth Games have continued to improve. As of the time ANSSI came on board, the madal haul of the State was not more than 5 gold medals. But as we are sitting here now, we have moved from 7 to 9 gold medals in the last NYG in Asaba. To this end and to maintain the tempo, we have donated sports equipment ( tennis boards, basketball courts, etc to some schools to encourage them. 'Let me also inform you that, as I mentioned earlier, many states are now copying the ANSSI model of going back to schools to bring back the glory days of sports in Nigeria. 'I call on all the participants (officials and athletes) to adher strictly to the rules of the competition. 'This 3rd edition, which will we commence on the 19th of March, 2025 across the 21 LGA and 3 Senatorial zones, promises to be an improvement on the last edition. 'I want to use this opportunity to thank our collaborators, the Ministry of Education. We have to appreciate that without their approval for schools to take part, ANSSI will still be in the incubation stage. We are deeply grateful. To private and mission schools, we thank you equally for your unflinching support. I also wish to thank the various committees (MOC, Sub Committees). 'I also wish to thank members of the press, especially SWAN members, for their continued support. 'For this third edition, we are giving out cash prizes worth more than 15 million naira to various winners in all categories as 11 sports will be competed for. 'This is our score card, and we look forward to having a great and bigger 3rd edition of ANSSI. She warned the public to beware of certain bad elements in the ministry who dent government’s image through their illegal activities, urging them to report such to appreciate authorities. She said, 'Chinyere is actually a staff in my ministry. On assumption, I carved out the SGBV unit and deployed some staff there, with Chinyere as the coordinating officer. After some time, I discovered some unholy acts from her and relieved her of the responsibility. For the past one year, Nwofor has not been representing us in that capacity. I also discovered that she was using the ministry's name to perpetrate crimes. you. I wouldn’t mind going begging on your behalf. If you don’t have the passion to assist the less privileged, we can excuse you. 'You can’t hide under this administration with zero tolerance to rascality commit any kind of offence. Mr Governor is ready to disgrace you anywhere. The era of if you can’t beat them join them is over. 'Meanwhile, those taking advantage of social media to tarnish the image of people to desist forthwith. 'There’s nothing you do on earth that you don’t get reward. I know some of these persons paid to do the job. Tell those hiring you to talk about me that the person is wasting he/her time. 'By the grace of God, I’m too decent to get to that level. If I need help, I beg people, and I know they’ll assist me.” During interrogation, Mrs Nwofor, however, denied the allegation. End To Erosion Menace: NEWMAP- EIB Team Inspects Designated Sites In Anambra, Lauds Soludo By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu Following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts geared towards reclaiming major parts of Anambra State lands ravaged by gully erosion, a team of experts from the European Investment Bank (EIB) assisted Nigeria Climate Adaptation Erosion and Watershed Project (NEWMAP-EIB), led by the National Project Coordinator, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks, on Tuesday, 11th March 2025, visited some designated sites in the state to ascertain the level of the environmental degradation caused by the menace. Some of the sites inspected include: Ndiagu Ikenga Ogidi Gully Erosion site, Nkpor Flyover Gully Erosion site, Ugamuma Obosi Gully Erosion site all in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and Abagana Erosion site, in Njikoka Local Government Area. Speaking during the inspection, National Project Coordinator, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks noted that they were in Anambra State on the instance of Mr. Governor to come and assess the state’s readiness to participate in the project or not, saying that they were certain things they needed to confirm to be sure that the state is actually ready, and one of it is the exercise they are doing at moment, adding that they needed to confirm whether the state has some selected sites, whether those sites are priority sites, and whether those sites met the conditions of the criteria to be enlisted as a site. His words, 'You can see we have visited about five different sites, and all these sites can be said they are candidate sites. What is very much important about those sites is that they are uncompleted sites that have not been completed before now. They are ongoing sites. It is pertinent that anything that has started needed to be completed 100%. The lack of completion was not a deliberate attempt. 'The funding of this project was initially by the World Bank, and this is a project that closed as of 30th June 2022, and the resources for that have been exhausted. The government of Nigeria and with state government both at national and the sub-national understanding the gravity and negative impacts of those challenges with the regards to land degradation did not rest on their aors. They ensure that funding are being secured to continue what has been done before and to complete what has not been completed. 'It is also of importance to note that His Excellency Governor Chukwuma Soludo has the passion and the heart to ensure that these sites are completed and, as part of his campaign promises to the people of Anambra State and he has told them that he has come with hope and not only hope and that he is coming with Solution. I can see that part of the solution is while we are here. 'He is working to ensure that when the project kicks start, Anambra will not be left behind. He is very much aware of the success story that has been recorded under NEWMAP, and he is aware that whatever has been done before needs to scale up, and it is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President. 'He has a renewed hope for Nigerians to have a sustainable environment and an environment that is climate resilience, and at the end of the day, he wants to leave Nigerians with an environment that is climate smart. So this is a project that is the federal government's priority, and that is why the Anambra State government has also keyed in. This funding is coming from European Investment Bank (EIB) . Yes , people will be calling World Bank because they are used to that. Going forward, the funding will be coming from EIB. It is going to deepen what has been recorded under the World Bank. We are continuing from where they stopped. The project objectives and strategic approach still remain the same,' the National Project Coordinator concluded Mr . Anda assured that most qualified contractors would execute the projects, adding that there would be no room for unqualified contractors. Corroborating the National Project Coordinator, the State's Project Coordinator, Professor Philip Ogbonnaya Phil-Eze, said the Federal government Management Unit released criteria to them to prioritized the ones that have not been completed under the World Bank, stating that a total of of 13 different sites have been completed in the state, acknowledging that it was of a very low percentage. He thanked Governor Soludo for paying the counterpart funding and for being proactive and concerned towards the plights of Ndi Anambra. In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Ndiagu Ikenga Ogidi, Chief Chigozie Etuka, Mr. Obieze Ifeanyi, a victim whose house caved in at Ugamuma Obosi and Chief Okonkwo Nnamdi, Vice President General of Abagana, showered praises on Governor Chukwuma Soludo and NEWMAP-EIB for coming to their rescue, praying God to continue to bless and protect them.

Soludo Clears Air On Latest Ban, Says It is About Noise Pollution, Not Against Evangelism By Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu The Anambra State Government wishes to address the misconstrued reports surrounding Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's recent encounter with an itinerant preacher at Onitsha Market. The Governor's remarks were misinterpreted as a ban on evangelism, whereas his focus was on noise pollution, which has been banned by an extant law on public health. This was contained in a press release issued by the State's Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor and made available to Newsmen in Awka. 'To clarify, Governor Soludo drew attention to the Public Health Law 2006, which prohibits noise pollution and preaching in inappropriate places like markets using loudspeakers. The governor advised preachers to conduct their activities in churches or designated areas where people can gather and listen to the word without disrupting others’ activities. 'The issue at hand is noise pollution, not evangelism. “Noise pollution” is punishable under *Sections 8(1,4b) and 9(1,2) of the Public Health Laws of Anambra State, 2006. As a matter of precedence, a magistrate court in Nnewi made this law actionable against a church in 2019 (link is attached herewith: https://search.app/xBiq2v7wDBUwvTmE8). 'The public is therefore advised to disregard any claims suggesting Governor Soludo has banned evangelism or public preaching in Anambra State. Instead, we urge citizens to adhere to the Public Health Law and respect the rights of others.
