The point is, the discos are not making enough money to pay for the cost of producing and transmitting and distributing power, because they are forced by law to charge band B to E Power consumers at a price far below the cost reflective price they charge band A consumers, and the monies made from band A are not enough to subsidise the bands B TO e.

Same issue India is experiencing.

I had always opposed removing subsidy from day one, but only silly people who don't understand economics can think you can reintroduce subsidy after the market has already fully adjusted to the reality of it being gone.

Transport will come down just a bit.
Food prices even smaller.
Rent, school fees and most goods won't budge.
Services, no way.
Salaries may even reduce back to N35k basic! (since in theory, transport is cheaper)

So who gains the most? Well the same people who have been milking this country for decades since the time Abacha decided to mess up our refineries to amass wealth.....

...obviously Atiku and 99% of our leaders are among them.
