RomanceRe: Can Still Serve Boy Boy At The Age Of 40 In Motor Parts Or Electronic Shop? by budaatum: 12:24pm On Sep 24, 2025
5 years, realistically. And you'd need to know how to eat humblepie, as your colleagues might be half your age and boss you around. Good thing though is it's better at 40 than at 60.

I'd have chosen mechanic if I were you. But I guess that would depend on my HND being related.

Foreign AffairsRe: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by budaatum: 12:14pm On Sep 24, 2025
Kimmel hit out against Trump, saying that the president “did his best to cancel me” but that “instead, he forced millions of people to watch the show.”

Kimmel added that “the president of the United States made it very clear he wants to see me and the hundreds of people who work here fired from our jobs. Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods because he can’t take a joke.”

“One thing I did learn from Lenny Bruce and George Carlin and Howard Stern, is that a government threat to silence a comedian the President doesn’t like is anti-American,” he added.
HealthRe: MRI Scan Test In Hyderabad by budaatum: 11:59am On Sep 24, 2025
I'm curious, why MRI Scan Test In Hyderabad?

I'm sitting in the MRI department of King's Hospital in Denmark Hill waiting for one now to detect abnormalities like tumors, cysts, or infections, and examine organs such as the liver, kidneys, or heart.

They'd likely do other tests though, and decide I don't need one.

Which human innovation (past or present) has blown your mind the most?

Why does it stand out to you?
The Bible.

It amazes me that humans can write such an enduring piece of software for human beings.

Before that it was Liverpool United. The smarts will see the lack of knowledge.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: To Be Sack From Work And To Resigned, Which One Is The Best by budaatum: 9:33am On Sep 24, 2025
SmartPolician:
Depending on the circumstances that led to the person being sacked, employees get up to 2 months' salaries in Nigeria, especially if you haven't done anything that clearly warranted your sack.
We clearly have a language difference. Where I am we don't say sacked if you were retrenched or were surplus to requirements.

A sacking must always be warranted, and reasoned, or you'd end up tribunalled and be forced to pay compensation.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Who Is The Most Trusted Living Nigerian You Know? by budaatum: 9:25am On Sep 24, 2025
Myself of course, as I trust no one more than me.

After me, my siblings of course, because they have imbibed the same trustworthy values I have.

But in reality, I wouldn't put just one person in charge because that would be naive and silly. A committee of 5-9 educated professionals would be much better.

Many people wait till they sack them from work just to collect some benefits while some resigned and forgo thier benefits. Due to toxic nature of the company.
But at this present economic of Nigeria, is it good to just resigned from work when you never see another one, Because of the toxic nature of the company?
I don't think you get benefits if sacked, while you might if you resigned with notice. And you'll get a better reference if you resigned, and it looks better on your CV than sacked.

Regardless, there's no reason to stay working in a toxic environment (unless you have no marketable skills), because you weren't going to get anywhere anyway, and the company would likely be sinking and take you down with it.

That said, your Maslow Chart shows it depends where one is in ones career and ones needs.

They know you are talking the truth but they just want to shut you up ... we all know Aso Oke isn't worn anymore like the 90s and early 2000s . Lack of government support and innovation , high cost lead to almost it death ; same with adire , an adire trouser cost over 200k . Who want buy am for this nigeria ?
Exousiang01 claims only those who can afford Rolls Royce buy it now, when it was what everyone must have in the days. They even sent dansiki to my sister and I in London when born, and it pained me when I outgrew it and it was given away.

It's death in my home town is devastating. Jobs and skills were lost, and I almost wept when I saw Made in China in Mapo.

I'm currently fighting the development of land in front of my grandma's house because of my memory of the ofi made there when it was more like Datsun than Rolls Royce. But I guess some are happy that its "those rich folks at weddings" affording and wearing it now and not poor him.

What's worse is Seun is not aware that some people are going about reporting posts so they are deleted, meaning old threads that should be his valued intellectual property are being decimated and made to be meaningless.

Just imagine, your old posts in a conversation are deleted and can't be read no more. Kind of kills the integrity of Nairaland, I'd think.

I think you are the first to say this so I'm quoting you.

I listened to his entire speech, and all the way through thought to myself that all those sitting there must have been amused at his ignorance and his disrespect.

I specifically love our 3 term Mayor Sadiq Khan's response who said he was "indifferent to President Trump" and had "more important things to worry about".
Christianity EtcRe: Can Christians Marry Someone From Another Denomination? by budaatum: 12:00am On Sep 24, 2025
My Christian aunt married a Muslim. They have 5 daughters and one adopted son. 3 of the daughters are cover your head Muslims, while the rest are Pentecostals. They respect and love each other fiercely.

I guess it depends on one's own understanding of one's own religion. If would be odd if any of them selfishly disregards the needs of others and decides to keep everyone awake with their God calling, because that would be unloving your neighbours, or siblings in this case

"After getting to know and fully understand", just shows he often opens his mouth without knowing nor understanding at all, and is not a person to take seriously, though his office has to be taken seriously.

World leaders around the world must wish there was a 'fast forward to the end of his term' button.

Iseyin is in Ibadan, Oyo State, lol.

On a serious note, this was huge in my hometown of Ifon Osun in the 70s, but died off in the 80s. I once went to Mapo in Ibadan and was surprised how much Made in China there was, which made me think a lack of innovation is killing us as we don't evolve what we do.

My father would say "all lizards are doing lakanlaka but those going to hell will get there". It basically is his way of saying "fingers are not equal", nor is ability. You can sit in the same class as others and learn much less than they do or not learn to use your learning like others use theirs.

Bachelor Degree Psychology 2025 graduate started work for Amazon in August. Pay is £45k plus company car. Not that this adds anything, but she's 4ft5in tall.

If this happened in Nigeria, Peter Obi and all his supporters would have made it look like heaven is about to fall in Nigeria. Obi would have tweeted that Nigeria is completely destroyed and then proceeded to call on United Nations, World Bank, ICC, IMF, WTO, UK govt etc to come and rescue Nigeria’s democracy.
If an ordinary oba treats another oba this way we'd definitely disapprove or ought to. And if this was our own president, I bet we'd not like it, though he might deserve it

Your love for Obi is blinding your reasoning, is what I think.

U can't claimed to be married and still hide ur money with your wife.
But he didn't hide his money from his wife. In her own words "So I later went to check the account myself and saw he had just about 14M there".

The sad thing is she seems maths illiterate, or she'd be able to put the difference between 15.8m and 14m into perspective, because it seems the man spends 600k a year "sending money to his parents and mine once a while and pay the kids school fees thrice in a year and it's nothing more than 300k for a term a year", which I can't see is too much, and think is actually reasonable.

I usually call men pork, but this particular man is a saint in my book, and deserves an award.

Alright. This is more or less what I was trying to get at. Your earlier posts seemed to suggest that there is already a viable democratic pathway in the country to fix the current issues.
Democracy by it's nature provides the opportunity to try different options every 4 years, during which we ought to learn what works and what doesn't. And the only barrier to fixing issues is our refusal to learn and continuing to do what does not work.

We may continue to not learn to be democratic, but the consequence is increased suffering to the extent we may die, for that is what happens to those who refuse to learn. And I don't think we Nigerians want to die, hence my faith in us.
