“I do not think that N1,500/$ is the fair value of the naira. I think the naira is undervalued,”Unfortunately, thinking does not determine fair value. The market determines it, and have said about ₦1,500/$ is fair value. As for high interest rates creating inflation, that's a chicken and egg thing, as it could equally be said that high inflation creates a need for high interest rates, as money depreciates fast otherwise and would cause capital flight instead of inflows. |
happney65:And pathetically unashamedly childish. |
Cocolatti:Bight of Benin, its called. And there's a Gulf of Guinea. I think Republic of Benin and our own Benin people and those of Equatorial Guinea might go to war against Tinubu Republic if he dared, lol. |

Graham emphasized that the bishop “took advantage of that national pulpit for her own personal agenda – and that was wrong.”Dump never uses the presidential pulpit for his own personal agenda. 'America first' does after all not mean 'dump first' now does it, except to us woke libtards? “It has nothing to do with compassion. It’s to do what’s right to do. If you want to have compassion, then have the law the same for everybody,” he stated. “Don’t have a law for one group and another law for another group. No, it’s one law fits all.”Hypocrites make me laugh. They think they can gaslight and can't be seen through. |
IjeBos:Of course he practised it! He ain't stupid like some think, and he knows what he's doing. In fact, being South African, I'm amused there's little about his family and apartheid, though I understand why not. https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/the-world-according-to-elon-musks-grandfather

Owologbo:Somehow, we might have a say. We can sell at a discount to Opec for instance, if no one is buying from us, or at a premium if everyone wants to buy from us. Our Bonny Light is after all a high-grade crude oil known for its low sulfur content, which makes it less corrosive to refinery equipment and has a lower environmental impact, and is in high demand by refiners in Europe and America. We might even sell more than our allocation, though we actually sell less than allocated due to our inefficiency, which oddly adds a premium to what we do sell. We'd have a bigger say if we got our act together and produce our OPEC allocation, and a much huger say if we refined it ourselves instead of selling crude. And on that last note, let me annoy some people so I'm insulted. Dangote is the new God. He said, "let there be local produced petrol", and there is local produced petrol, and I can't wait for him to say, let there be uninterrupted light. |

LegendHero:I am a Yoruba Obi supporter, and I will rejoice when Nigeria is renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu. What's he waiting for, in fact!? |
Yourprick:Kamala spent $3.8 million in upgrades and refurbishments, which is ₦5,871,038,000.00 (NGN) today or 🇳🇬 five billion eight hundred seventy-one million thirty-eight thousand naira as of 17:00PM UTC, and it took a year. And that's not taking in to consideration the rent paid where she lived while work was ongoing in her official residence. We'll see what the current VP spends in 12 months time.

Does Nigeria not have a Gulf of Mexico? It should be renamed Gulf of BOLA AHMED TINUBU, perhaps. |
SalamRushdie:A lot will change! Nigerian, which earns a lot of its revenue from crude oil sales, will earn less money and have less money to squander, and will therefore borrow more money at higher interest rates to squander, leaving less money for anything else like wages. And no, petrol prices will not go down, but will go up because Naira will depreciate if Nigeria earns less dollars from cheaper crude exports, and crude imports (by Dangote) will cost more forcing him to charge more Naira per litre. Double digits of 30 something percent is not the same as double digit 50-70-90 something percent, note. |

LegendHero:There definitely must be a difference. Tesco is a non-African store. They sell Nigerian Guinness, just like most other stores do, especially liquor stores. LegendHero:Better product than only Trophy, I implied. Even Gulder do not do in UK the recycled bottle we get in Naija that Trophy do in UK, and neither do Guinness. In most shops, the UK, Irish and Naija Guinnesses will be on a shelf next to each other, and our recycled bottle would look kind of shabby in comparison, so that's not what's sold, mainly. LegendHero:I doubt there's more demand for Trophy than Gulder and Star, and definitely not for Guinness. There's definitely more stock space of the latters than Trophy on the shelf, and its not because the Trophy's been sold. We were just trying it out on the day, and on getting our preferred Gulder, concluded was far better tasting than Trophy, so that's no more Trophy for us from now on. LegendHero:I agree they were more likely talking about their own direct exports. But if I buy local in Nigeria and export, that, though being booked as a local sale for them, is actually an export, and with shortage of Guinness in UK demand of imports would increase. LegendHero:They might not factor it in, but I am, plus unlicensed exporters too. Unfortunately, I lack supporting data. It says £2m below, but I'd reckon 10 times more at least, considering Nigerian drinkers alone. And there's many local Brits who drink it too, as its far superior to the watered down Guinness they get in pubs. Golly, some pubs even sell bottled Nigeria Guinness these days.

jflower06:Nigerian Christians and Muslims tend to not acknowledge the fact there are 1000s of Gods, despite their going to sacrifice to some other gods, which kind of indicates those other gods are partners or all gods are figments of human imaginations. |
basilico:Please stop lying! I have been calling you a stupid ignorant liar, along with bad conspiracist, about everything you post here. For your information, it is likely Corona Virus did start in Wuhan, though it could also have started in USA or at least been allowed to spread so much there by dump. But I'd in fact be rather surprised if China (or somewhere) do not introduce another virus into America in the next 4 years to teach dump lessons. As for your claims, what's new? https://www.politico.com/news/2020/09/11/exclusive-trump-officials-interfered-with-cdc-reports-on-covid-19-412809

jflower06:I know Gods are human creations, and that humans create their Gods in their own images, some with partners and some without. I also know Nigerians know only one God out of all the thousands of Gods that humans have created since the beginning of time. That will change though, once we free education from the grasp of theology. |
LordReed:Where have you been, my Lord! Happy New Year. |
LegendHero:I'd be very surprised if only UK sales of Nigerian Guinness is not much more than 2%. The image I posted above, £8 for 4 small, is from Tesco's, the largest retailer in Great Britain with a market share of 27.5% at the end of 2022. They sell to far more than Nigerians, and all the top others stock it too including the local corner shops and Nigerian wholesalers and retailers and restaurants. And not Tesco's fancy 4 bottle pack, which likely came from Tolaram, but in our local packaged boxes and in singles which are likely imported by others. P.s. I bought 4 Trophy last week from my London corner shop for a friend who came to visit, and found one was flat. I took it back and got a Gulder replacement and the salesperson told me to take the Trophy too, thinking flat Trophy was drinkable, lol. I refused. He told me it is common with some Nigerian drinks but hardly with Guinness, which kind of shows Guinness produce a quality product, which undoubtedly would drive their international sales, as retailers would like to stock it due to low returns of faulties. |
winnah: Frezhkid10: Mayflowa:No insult taken. When I buy a truck of Guinness in Nigeria and export it myself to UK, its a local sale for Tolaran but an export sale for me. And at a bottle of small Guinness at £2 and a large at about £4, you might see how my local purchase might be 20 trucks, and that's just me since Nigerians are not averse to money and profiteering and benefiting from scarcity. There was hardly any local Guinness on the shelves of London retailers during the scarcity, note, and we Guinness drinkers are very very loyal to the brand. |
|
Dynamicboss:Nigerian Guinness is big in UK already, and a shortage of local Guinness increased demand of all available stouts in UK including Nigerian Guinness. And I wouldn't be surprised if that increase in demand was all over Europe and even worldwide. That's not to say Tolaram didn't do "some good sales and marketing", though I doubt their increase was mostly from Nigerian sales. The below is for 4 bottles. Tell what that would be in Naira.

Guinness shortage in UK must have helped.

I have this fear that someone will blow up Dangote Refinery, and it wouldn't be Nigerians behind it even if in front. It will be like stabbing a heart. |
