feedthenation:I was at Ketu Busstop some almost 50+ years ago when someone starting yelling "ole, ole". Suddenly, some man was grabbed and begun to be beaten. I jumped in, as small as I was, telling everyone it was not true, and eventually, he was let go. What had really happened and which no one saw was that the person who yelled "ole" was the ole, and only began shouting when his hand was caught in the pocket of the person he accused. And when he shouted ole, the members of the Ketu Busstop Pickpocket Association joined in to protect him. That's what's happening here. The party of vote stealers are accusing the innocent of the crime they themselves could not yet away with. That man, a teacher, paid my bus fare for that week, but we both had to avoid Ketu busstop for a while and walk to Ojota instead. |
TenQ:Not only overzealous, but devious too. And I am delighted you noticed. If you've been here long you'd have seen posts from Congo presented as Nigeria, and posts of atrocities that had nothing to do with Fulanis blamed on Fulanis and so on. Most people quickly believe but more evidence often reveals the lies. Please know that buda has an error in design that makes buda not believe. If buda believed, so called Fulani Monday would not be successfully managing buda's farm in the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun. |
TenQ:I read part of it despite being put off by the beginning. My opinion of such is expressed in this thread. Hopefully, you know how public sentiment led to genocide in Rwanda Fact is, quite a lot of what Fulani are being blamed for is done by our very own people, as we found with the gunmen in the East. Fulani may be kidnapping in Kaduna, but dem never yet born the Fulani to come kidnap anyone in the South. Local kidnappers wouldn't put up with the competition for starts, and we know where their cattle is if they dare.

elated177:Nobody owns the Scripture, elated, and no Lord wrote it. It is about Lords though, and lots of other folks. |
Here's what responsible Nigerians do.
|
Bonavi:Yes, we are that foolish. And irresponsible too. We claim "The politicians use ethnicity and religion to prevent us from uniting against bad governance, corruption, unemployment, hunger, police brutality etc", as if there is no brain in our heads and politicians remotely control us, when the truth is, we divide ourselves with "ethnicity and religion" instead of "uniting against bad governance, corruption, unemployment, hunger, police brutality etc". That will change though once we realise that we are responsible for our own salvation from "bad governance, corruption, unemployment, hunger, police brutality etc", and unite to fight against it.
|
elated177:No, I do not realize any such "simple matter". Scripture advises, be wary of peddlers of "simple matter". If Scripture replaces the Lord, a fundamental commandment in said Scripture is disobeyed.
|
elated177:As easy as a camel entering through the needle's eye, Christ would tell him. He can not become as a child so does not understand the Word and how it saves. |
TenQ:Sorry for your plight, TenQ, but as I said, a "tiny fraction" is no reason to condemn them all. If I were to become a kidnapper I will learn some Fulfude so that when I kidnap someone in Osun State, they'll be looking for cattle in the North instead of Yoruba me in the South. |
TenQ:Where was your relative kidnapped, TenQ? And what makes you claim they were Fulani bandits? Since its experience close to you I'd value your responses more than a pdf, but see advice above if you insist. |
shadeyinka:Upload to dropbox and post a link. |
Amujale:Your advice and your orders are obviously ignored. |
elated177:I am saying, please elated177, you be the judge of buda. Do note though that if buda is "hidden", you wouldn't see buda to judge. |
sonmvayina:No I don't think so. Jesus works even as an imaginary figure in a book. Anyone who learnt anything from the very fictional Things Fall Apart would know this already. sonmvayina:No that is not Marduk! That is a picture of an ancient statue of Marduk, and like claiming a picture of Jesus is Jesus. |
TenQ:I guess this is why some call we Nigerians yahoo since some "tiny fraction" of yahoos are Nigerian. Its also why some say we Nigerians are thieves even though most of the Nigerians we know like our mama and papa might never have stolen anything and brought us up to not steal. I, unfortunately can't reason the way of condemning the majority because of a "tiny fraction", especially based on "stories we hear". I know what happens when the Chinese whisper. Below is the recent "stories we hear" about Fulani's on my own farm. Make sure you read the follow up too. budaatum: |
elated177:He definitely is all over the place and buda is definitely what has been referred to as occult. Or at least, off the beaten track. I'm sure we'd have called Jesus occultic too though, if he were around today. His time people did said he was demonic, so not far off, don't you think? I feel Jesus' response would be "Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear", at least to those who seek to understand.
|
sonmvayina:I believe you. The evidence is in support. https://www.nairaland.com/search?q=+sonmvayina+Nirvana&search=Search |
sonmvayina:Well, I guess that is according to your own understanding. Some of us happen to know that humans have been becoming Gods from the very beginning of time. The Pharaohs, for instance, were great Gods in their time, as Amujale could teach you if you care to know. You would find it in the Old Testament too if you care to look to understand, and in case you did not understand it from there, Christ, knowing how important that simple knowledge is and its implications, reminded those who read about him too. Jehova is a Hebrew invention and has everything to do with God, as do the even earlier "Gods" created by Romans, along with Ogun and Sango and Allah and Shiva. A smart person might wonder why humans create Gods. |
shadeyinka:In the deep forest in the South, shade? Like in the deep forest in Ibadan and Enugu? Perhaps my Yorubaness is clouding my view here, but you are Yoruba too, least going by your name. Please, where are you from (or live)? How deep is the forest where you are from (or live)? |
sonmvayina:........= Jesus Christ, to some. I guess the question you need to first consider is, What is God, but we don't before we start adding and subtracting from what has not been established (at least a common understanding hasn't), and then we argue that we see more than others instead of admitting we read it in books and ignorantly chose to believe instead of understand what we read. You called God, the "Universal Consciousness", so you ought to respect the individual parts that make up that consciousness. It is the second commandment given by Christ, 'that you love your neighbour'. Paul inspires me to say: When one of you says, I am a follower of this,” and another says, “I follow that,” aren’t you acting just like the ignorant people of the world? After all, who is this? Who is that? We are only humans seeking understanding. Each of us did the research. Seeds are planted in our hearts by our reading and it grows. It’s not important who does the planting or who does the watering. What’s important is that the seed grows. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose of increasing knowledge and enlightening. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are all workers working in the field so we may build. Check here to see how much licence I took. |
TenQ:I know this TenQ. I have had them on my farm in Osun State with their cattle, as I mentioned here. They did not have ak47s and perhaps that's why I was not afraid of them despite being all by myself, and perhaps I am special or something and known in their trade. The herders of cattle in my own part of Osun State are herding cattle for the big people in my home town. You buy a cattle and they care for it and you share its calfs between you, so if anyone's cattle eats my plantings I know who to go get my restitution from. Besides, who would dare encroach on the farm of the Child of the Basorun not to talk of kill her? TenQ, please, where is your village (if you have one and are not just as city person)? Even in your local neighbourhood where you live, can Fulani come there and terrorise you without your area people fighting back? Dem never born the Fulani or any outsider who would come terrorise my own home town. The local terrorisers will not put up with the competition and our strong community cohesion must be a repellant, but if they dare, we will instigate a new local festival with a God that needs the sacrifice of cattles! |
Amujale:Do note that the opinion below is a minority one. Almost eveeryone else rates in 5*. Books like this are not historical. Cool if you want to feel good. And considering the terrible condition of African people, some just want answers outside of facts--then this book will fill your socks. But you have to ask yourself seriously now, is that all you want. This is the age of plurality of knowledge. It rejects egocentric universalism and exclusivism in the study of history. In our age we need to demonstrates that the methodology and tools that we employ are above those the colonialist used to describe us. It is fitting and reactionary for authors to make into myth the history of Africa, but that does not take us closer to the truth. The issue of race (us and them) is a modern problem created with the Atlantic slave trade. It is certainly not 4500 BC which is a ridiculous conspiracy theory.Your "email inventor" assertion was not about email invention per se, but about the limited way in which you arrive at your conclussions. |
shadeyinka:Are they in the deep forest in Enugu and Ibadan too or is it the locals terrorising and kidnapping in those places? |
shadeyinka:And I am telling you you are wrong. Nigeria is a huge country, and the local mayhem creators in certain parts of it would very not welcome competition. See the map below and tell me how Fulani can be the bandits there. Those who rustle cattle are thieves stealing from the cow owners. If they were Fulani rustling from Fulani it would have easily been resolved in their community where chopping off thief's hands is not so much frowned upon.
|
shadeyinka:If I were not biased, hard working trustworthy supposed Fulani herdsman Monday would not be working and profiting from my farm, my lazy village people that I am biased against, will. And they are the kidnappers in my own village because no Fulani or any other outsider dare kidnap anyone there. And I can't just abandon my own personal experiences and start ignorantly believing the media or my village people instead because I have a mind and a brain and the ability to use it. They are refugees because bandits in various forms have attacked them and their farm land and the Fulani's cattle, which is why they seek refuge down South. |
ono:Verily I say unto you, those who seek understanding of the book with their own heart and soul and mind and with the aid of the Holy Spirit and Ghost and Comforter he will send you when he returns to his Father to help you, you will have a better more comfortable fruitful journey through life than those who remain ignorant and enslaved like Adam. |
Amujale:Amujale, you contend because you stick your fingers in your ears and do not see nor read nor listen. Fictional, yes. And my favorite fictional part of it all is the fictional Garden of Eden where fictional Adam did not surely die on the day that he ate the fictional fruit of the fictional tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but his eyes were opened by fictional wise seeking Eve, and we read that they then went on to live for another 800 years during which they are written to have populated the earth. The poor in spirit believe it while the wise understand and are grateful that some bothered to reveal that story which originated in Egypt where some were kept in ignorant bliss by fear of death just as they are today.
|
Amujale:Talking about inventions, were you not supposed to provide credible evidence for your assertion about the inventor of email? That said, and even if your baseless assertion is true, I hope you understand how far the entire world has contributed to "concepts of Numeracy and Literacy". I mean, just look at you and I, using foreign literacy (technology) to discuss in 'foreign language of misery' instead of our own language! Abi Amujalẹ ki se Yoruba ni? Learning evolves, Amu. Egyptians wrote on stone columns in heiroglyph most called the Words of the Gods. A single letter took weeks, sometimes months and a single error was not easily fixed with rubber or tippex. Thankfully, they evolved to papyrus and stopped needing slaves to write on stone for them, but unfortunately the Gods stopped dictating the Words and the Egyptians stopped writing and even forgot how to read the Words of the God's on the columns of stone. And the slaves couldn't read either, being just copy artists, they completely lacked understanding, but they cobbled up what they could from what they had and voila! Out of Egypt came what we know today as the Holy Bible and thousands of equally old and informative books and the device you are communicating with me with. Its not the enemy, Amu, it's just a book. And we read books from antiquity to see where it has come from and how it got to where it is today so we can learn to do greater things than have been done instead of starving on the glory of past inventions. |
Amujale:You missed out, English, and Arabic, and books, and reading, and organised learning with your senses and eyes open, which are very not ideologies at all. Or do you wanna claim the Religions of Books have not reduced your misery? |
shadeyinka:I met Monday the day I bought my land, far in the bush right by the lake. I'd arranged to meet the land sellers at Owode and there he was, speaking proper English. They'd been chased from their land in Benue and now lived in our semi-abandoned village of Owode which is the last hamlet before my farm. Monday, who's mother is on my Christmas list, and who has been managing my farm for the past 6 years to fund his own education, is the fulani herdsman that my lazy village people are complaining about. Yes, Shadeyinka. buda is very extremely megabiased. |
Amujale:buda should defend a fictional character in a book? Amu is very funny. |
shadeyinka:There may have been a few, as I mentioned the last time we discussed this but nowhere near as many as was claimed and not as much as has been terrorising the North. I received notice last month that displaced people from Benue State were squatting on my land, though the person who informed me ignorantly called them Fulani herdsmen despite their being farmers with no cattle. |
