The amount of money Nigeria was making at the time makes it hard for most to realise how much was being stolen so some don't mind. We make a lot less today and see how much we suffer.

My former governor Mr O-no Aregbesola plundered my state for his boss you are asking me to consider for president. And there's the little issue of his bullion van on the eve of elections. If anyone else had one of those most would choke on Gandollar, but here we are forgiving such deeds and because Ọmọ wa ni, you dare ask me to overlook it and you call him ọmọluabi!

Of course I am emotionally disgusted just at the thought of it!

Vaughanlanrewaj:
You're not much different from him by allowing emotion to rule over your judgement sir. We have seen what Asiwaju Tinubu achieved in public service running the most complex state in Nigeria and if your priority is on merit, you should zoom into that so you can make an informed decision. I campaign and will vote Asiwaju Tinubu, not only because he is an Omoluabi Yoruba but because by extension, he is the most tested and best qualified based on his performance in office. Can you say that for those hating him because he is Yoruba or HE Atiku's performance in office?

Below is just a summary of Asiwaju Tinubu's score sheet in office when a Nairalander who perhaps does not live in Lagos or was too young or not born then when Asiwaju Tinubu was in government.
These legacies are still standing today and it is a patriotic desire to see such an excellent public administrator run the affairs of this great nation after this current administration. Those hailing the conference of Southern Governors don't even know that Asiwaju Tinubu once rallied mobilized the southern governors to form a bloc but the group was destroyed by the same PDP especially after Asiwaju successfully got HE Ngige to cross to ACN.

If the PDP had not killed that bloc, it would have been a rallying platform to resolve the farmers-herders issues soon enough before it degenerated yet today the same southern PDP states that frustrated Asiwaju Tinubu then are ready for a southern governors bloc they rejected then. Please don't allow them to convince or confuse, a vote for Asiwaju Tinubu is a vote for excellence in public service. God bless Nigeria.

--------------------------------------------------------------

You're right to some extent but the period between Jakande and Asiwaju Tinubu were the period we suffered our worst decline. As a matter of fact, we suffered both human , political and natural adversities.

From the abandonment of Lagos by FG as soon as capital moved and we opposed the military's annulment of June 12 to the abandonment of Lagos by investors ( Lagos CBD was a ghost town) to the incessant state sponsored assassinations on the streets of Lagos to how Bar Beach destroyed and on its way to submerging the whole of VI.

Today, many of the endSars generation and the IPOB terrorists who infiltrated them won't even know that the bar beach water reaches close to where they gathered then and where they gathered was around maroko,a slum, and from that point to Epe was just a small two lane road with untarred road branches until you get to Jakande from which you trek to Eleko beach on feet because no road existed there then. No Lekki Phase this and Phase that and no round about and most of my friends who are natives of the villages there like Ogombo actually live in real village settings unlike the sprawling estates all over the place now.

How about Ikeja, it was a nightmare and it took Asiwaju Tinubu bringing order there from medical road to Oregun to Lateef Jakande roads he built and still standing till date.
Asiwaju Tinubu was the one who upgraded lasu to having a college of medicine and the brain behind the Lekki Free Trade zone, brt and train to link island to Mile 2 and co and the projects are still on due to the vision carried forward.
The biggest problem Asiwaju Tinubu helped us solve that even the military era could not solve, is the waste challenge. Waste took over Lagos even during marwa tenure and it was solved by Asiwaju Tinubu administration.

There are so many other great initiatives started by him like lastma, lasaa, etc he started and now copied by other states today. States were practically sending their senior civil service bureaucrats to have internship in Lagos then and till date. Asiwaju Tinubu, unlike Chief Ibori, didn't steal the shares of Lagos in Econet. LASACO and Eko International Bank were recapitalized and we even brought Enron to Nigeria and if not that Enron is now dead, it would have been a major player in our developing power sector now. We stood against the tyranny of Pa Obasanjo when he withheld our money and throughout that period, Lagos did not owe salaries but today, you see governors receiving full money from FG yet owing salaries!

Go and read about Ehingbeti which holds yearly in the historically important place Pa Awo was held in house arrest. Asiwaju Tinubu started it and to his credit and to the glory of God , Asiwaju Tinubu is the architect of the modern Lagos. He fought tirelessly to ensure his successor is another genius, BRF and looking back now, we could have ended up with a mediocre Obanikoro and PDP ravaging everywhere like they do in all their states.May God bless Asiwaju. God bless Lagos State. God bless Nigeria.

My own is that SE and SS will not vote for Tinubu after he joined an alliance to overthrow a president he felt was favoring us.

So of the two thieves, I will vote the northern thief instead of the Yoruba thief.
I would rather neither thief be voted for since they are not the only Nigerians and thieves will only steal. But I guess some Nigerians don't mind being ruled by thieves, I only hope they are the minority.

We shall see at the next elections.

Atiku is a moderate Muslim, he will support religious extremists.

Atiku is a business man, he will make business friendly policies. Unlike this herdsman in Aso Rock that is making cow friendly policies.

I agree we shouldn’t be considering Atiku but he, unfortunately, seems like our shortest route towards escape these marauding jihadists that have grabbed power.
Sorry, but I do not agree with you. Your position is no different to:

Tinubu is a moderate Muslim, he will not support religious extremists. (I am certain you in error missed out the not).

Tinubu is a business man, he will make business friendly policies.

And shortest routes are just false hope because as far as Nigeria is concerned the route will be long.

We have 2 or so years. I hope a younger less tarnished person will arise because I would hate us to vote for a person who will sell the goose that lays the golden eggs to himself or one that will hoist it away in bullion vans right beneath our noses.

That's the thing: Any POTUS who tries to renege on any agreement or accord with Israel would be only seen as anti-Semitic. You don't want to mess with the Jewish delegation/power players in the U.S. socio-politics. You know this. Obama was smart enough to just dance around it and never really on the dance floor.

Would Israel change its stance with its PM gone? Maybe; but then again, maybe not. Still, you are forgetting one thing: The war and the optics favour Netanyahu very much.

He's playing the "We against the world" card and it's working. Did you follow his comments thanking Hamas for finally get the Israeli people to unite as one? What he really meant is, the Israeli people unite behind me. The optics favour him and he's playing (like he always has) that nationalist card more than ever. There's even a campaign urging famous Jews to speak up for Israel - cue the Gal Gadot controversy, and all Israeli government social media handles are on overdrive now.

Netanyahu is not going anytime soon. This favours him. All the corruption and allegations against him have been put to a back burner since the hostilities began.
I wouldn't say Netanyahu isn't going anywhere. Not all are in support of his land grabbing stance (I bet many are more militant than he is even), and the allegations against him are probably part of the politics of change. But we shall see. One thing as far as Israel/Palestine is concerned is its constant evolution as the players come and go.

Ordinarily, you should allow him believe whatever he wants. 50% boycotting elections means no election....are southerners not the ones to run the elections in their respective states and regions? how many southerners still want a country with fulani terrorists in present day Nigeria?
Are you believing what you want? Where did you get that from, that "50% boycott means no election"? Can you even get 50% boycott, you who are struggling to get even one single me boycotted?

I'm sure you are very intelligent. Maybe read about past boycotts to see you are not the first to try this failed strategy instead of repeating their mistake.

Parliamentary elections were held in Nigeria on 30 December 1964, although they were not held until 18 March 1965 in some constituencies in Eastern Region, Lagos, and Mid-Western Region due to a boycott in December.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_Nigerian_general_election?wprov=sfla1
When an influential secessionist group called on people to boycott Anambra state’s election, many people expected the worst.

Ahead of the governorship poll on 18 November, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) insisted that no election would take place unless Nigeria’s federal government agreed to hold an independence referendum for certain south-eastern states. A week before the election, IPOB supporters stepped up this campaign, marching on the streets and vowing to disrupt the election.

“If you vote you will die. Don’t go out, stay in your house. If you vote on November 18, you will die,” one of the protesters threatened in a video that soon went viral.

Nigerians therefore awaited the November poll with bated breath. IPOB has shown itself to be popular and its calls for a separate state of Biafra have significant support in the region. However, on the day itself, the process went ahead smoothly.

It's not necessarily about Trump (or Jared who is openly Jewish). Blaming Trump (if there's anyone to blame asides the main state actors in the Middle East) is looking for an easy target. Not even Biden can be blamed for what's happening. The U.S. policy before Trump has always been pro-Israel. You know this so why blame Trump?

With or without Trump coming into the picture, the conflict would still rage. It's an impassé. The Arab world wants Israel to leave, Israel wants a share of it. There are no grey areas and the Arabs do not want a middle ground.

It's easy to blame Jared Kushner (and Trump) while completely ignoring the Biden adminstration tacitly reaffirming U.S support of Israel with "Israel has the right to defend itself". Pretty convenient.

I'd ask you pointedly: Do you honestly think Biden would alter the status quo as regards U.S-Israeli relations/support and the U.S position on issues between Israel and Palestine? Even Obama couldn't and he's supposedly seen as pro-Arab. Supposedly.
Hello disstroy. Long time. No, it is indeed not necessarily about trump or Jared since the embers of this fire never went out. But Jared/drimpfts one sided peace accord was always like fuel that would ignite at some point, and here we are. Its like Soleman was murdered and Iran retaliates somewhere down the line, we wouldn't say the time between means there's no connection.

Yes, I honestly do not think Biden would alter the status quo as regards U.S-Israeli relations/support and the U.S position on issues between Israel and Palestine". Though, as most American Presidents, his current stance sucks.

I would have responded with a no, but that phrase "status quo", as in the current trump imposed stance, will need to be altered because it is just far too onesided and never involved the Palestinians. Besides, Israel might change its stance itself once that Netanyahu is kicked out.

It means INEC will not be allowed in. NO ELECTION ANYWHERE IN ANY POLLING BOOTH IN SW, SE and SS.

Going by your position, it means that the South is helplessly trapped in Nigeria project. Perish this mentality. Unless you protest, the person standing on your feet stays firmly and blamelessly. Nigeria's Independence did not come by accepting status quo. No!, people agitated and protested before the colonial masters responded.
Pdp and Apc in my one local government of the Orolu Kingdom can not do consensus but you will do consensus with all the partys in the Southern States of Nigeria? Good luck with that. Just know that INEC is federal and you might have difficulty keeping them from holding elections since someone somewhere will want the elections to hold. And say, no next elections, bubu 4 more years plus his 4+4? Even Sai Bubu me shudders!

Not agreeing with your one single helpless solution of boycott election does not mean the entire South of Nigeria is helpless. And Nigeria got its independence through the ballot you are now asking to be boycotted, you will find.

I would go the opposite of boycott and get even more participation myself. When those promoting what I want get more votes than those promoting what I don't want we will gain power and can then impose our democratically won whatever we want on you boycotters. I just hope its what you like, but if not, sorry but you boycotted so don't expect to have a say.

Please take the time to learn about democracy. And consider joining the Nairaland Democratic Party so your vote counts for us please because we need you to keep the goats out of power. Your vote is far too powerful for you to throw away in a boycott.

I insist dtruth, Ignorance kills. And you are capable of seeing beyond the letter and the words to see the Spirit, so long as you stop worshipping the idol!

And of course, I did believe what I was told especially adverse tellings, so when I wanted to lick watapiapia and my mother screamed, I did not check whether what she said was true, I just obeyed and went in to my play and viola, I am still playing today.

So do I know if watapiapa kills? I still don't know!

Do I want to know if it kills as mummy said? I do not care, as long as mummy used the magic word "die", I was very happy to comply.

May we be empowered to find the tree and pluck of its fruit and eat to see for ourselves with our own senses if on the day that we eat we shall surely die or if our eyes will open and we gain wisdom.

Dtruth, have you and I moved forward enough for this I wonder? Let me tell you a lie to see if you will confirm it.

You are not an Adam who just believes what you are told. If you are placed in the Garden of Eden and told not to eat a fruit of a tree of the knowledge of good and evil you will ask why because you seek the truth. You will be like Eve and pluck the fruit and eat it to test with your own senses for yourself if it is true that you will surely die on the day that you eat. If you eat it and you do not die on that day, you will not be like some who then redefine "die" and "that day" to mean something else especially if you find that on eating your eyes opened, you found you were naked and the fruit was good for gaining wisdom, and lived another 800 or so years and filled the earth with your descendants and eventually died at age 900+.

Tell me I have told a lie about you Dtruthspeaker. Tell me that the truth is you are Adam who walks past the tree of the fruit if the knowledge of good and evil without plucking its fruit to eat and therefore remain ignorant and enslaved and naked and dead.

I will of course argue otherwise because I think you are like Eve. Especially indicated in how you have defined "The Law", one of which states that "ignorance kills".
