bbbabes: The xenophobic attacks in South Africa took a different dimension yesterday when a group of unknown gunmen appeared in a video attacking a man, who looked so much like an immigrant in South Africa.
The man was filmed being questioned with evidence of mugging as blood could be seen dripping on his face. At a point, he attempted to escape and was being shot at several times. He eventually got hit and was down.
His assailant were captured shooting at him severally, even as it was evidenced the man was defenseless and probably dead. He got so many shots in his head and the unknown gunmen didn't in any way feel remorse for the crime being committed.
We hope something is done quickly about these incessant occurrences of xenophobic attacks in South Africa. It is surely getting out of hand.
Freewoman: This is stupidity of the highest order, DANA AIR were yet to settle their plane crash victims, they secretly come here to operate under Imo State government, cos of some selfish interest of Agboho hausa called the governor of the so called Imo state, he should go and pay their contractors who he tricked to work with their monies and never care to refund them, rather he take glory to commission's those projects.......shameless he goat
You know this because you were at the kickoff meeting?
ilynem: Forgive my ignorance. But where do they get their money? What Job do they do? Or does government pay them?
From my knowledge of one the states in the north, the Emir gets paid a tidy sum plus allowances from the FG every month. The Emir is also entitled to 5% of all monthly LG allocations.
Whynotthetruth: It is getting to that period in Nigeria diary when politicians are out of their wits, trying to outdo themselves in convincing Nigerians to their side. Nigeria is a UNIQUE country in that EVERY decision is analyzed, weighed, accepted or rejected after going through three(3)distinct criteria; ... Religion ... Ethnicity ... Political Party These trio criteria has also ensured that Nigeria has never reached her potentials and won't attain such if she doesn't look at individuals beyond these myopic lens.
ATIKU Abubakar is by no means a saint but stands out among the Northerners to be considered for presidency given his not being contaminated or hindered by these myopic criteria in his dealings so far. Some other outstanding factors for which I feel ATIKU is among the best candidates from North include;
1) Exposure, Experience and Expertise: ATIKU has proved himself worthy of emulation in several, different and diverse sectors. He rose to echelon of service as a Custom's Officer. As an Entrepreneur, he has broken bounds and achieved uncommon success. And as Public servant, led successfully the privatisation exercise of government as anchored by BPE, alongside other assignments as Nigeria Vice President between 1999-2007.
2) Extremism & Extremists Views: ATIKU seems liberal in his views and his continued support for decentralization of government which most northeners don't support make him to stand out as a man with a mind of his own. Who also considers the views of his neighbor's in taking decision and not necessarily selfish decisions always. Fanatics and extremists have done Nigeria more harm than good.
3) Leadership Quality; A journey through his successful career will put flower to this point. He has succeeded both in personal, public, and organizational leadership positions.
4) CORRUPTION TAG; It is a fact that this tag came to life when he challenged the unwholesome appetite for power by his then boss; Obj .Nuhu Ribadu who led the onslaught against ATIKU then has not denied begging ATIKU for forgiveness for wrongful accusation. US government has declared through some recent publication of having no case file against him as against public perception. With no court conviction against him with regard to corruption and looting of Treasury, we can assume him innocent in that regards.
5) ECONOMIC BLUEPRINT; Any avid follower of APC primary election in 2015 will agree with me that ATIKU Abubakar was the ONLY APC presidential candidate with VERITABLE, VERIFIABLE, & VIABLE economic blueprint . He has always being ready for the job with his simple, concise and implementable blueprints.
There could be other good products from the North yet to declare open their interest but in all, ATIKU is a FAR UPGRADE on a country that could tolerate a Buhari presidency.
Thanks and God bless us all...
What is wrong with Nigerians and recycling old people? Aren't you fed up of the same old names. No televised debate,nothing...just blind followership. I tire mehn
Governors of the South-Western geo-political zone have resolved to forge a common front at regional integration by jointly staving off external influences capable of stifling the region’s economic and social interests.
Irrespective of their political affiliations, the governors said they have decided to be their brother’s keepers by promoting common programmes and projects capable of enhancing the human capital development of the region.
This was one of the highlights of the meeting of the governors’ economic forum, hosted on monday by the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, at the Executive Council Chambers, in Ibadan.
The governors mulled over the need to introduce uniform tariffs on commodities, while agreeing on the need to seek areas of cooperation in agriculture, transportation, rail system, sports and other areas of common interest.
Other Governors at the meeting were Mr. Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State; Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State; Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; and Mr. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, while Secretary to Ondo State Government, Mr. Rotimi Adelola, represented the Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
In his welcome address, Ajimobi said that the attendance of the governors signposted the high importance they paid to the common challenges besetting the zone, part of which, he said, was the difficulties in the prompt payment of workers' salaries and pensions.
Ajimobi said, "Your presence at this meeting is a clear testimony of the importance you all have attached to the common challenges confronting us as a people. Today our country is buffeted by economic and political challenges.
"Several States are struggling to pay basic salaries with arrears running into several months; manufacturers struggling to access foreign exchange for raw materials are shutting down leading to mass redundancy of our people.
“Unfortunately most of these people are resident in the South-West region, which is the industrial base of the country. We need to quickly explore escape routes from poverty through empowerment and equipping of our youths with requisite skills.
“We must also seek common paths of boosting agriculture as well as dealing with security challenges that has pervaded the country. We must seek a way out of the biting hardship in the land.”
The governor expressed optimism that the outcome of the meeting, which, he said, was an economic forum, would lead to steps that would impact positively on the social and economic development of the people.
A communiqué read at the end of the meeting by the governor of Ekiti State said that the forum reiterated the need to use regional integration to create economic relief for the people of the South-West in the face of the pervading economic recession.
Fayose stressed that the conversation dwelt on pragmatic steps necessary to be taken to enhance the development of the region and to proffer the surest way to put food on the table of the common people.
Regardless of their political differences, he said that the governors were more concerned about their relations by the force of history and geographical location, the unity of which, he said, the regions forebears fought for and defended.
Fayose said, "All states, including Ekiti, have subscribed to and agreed that regional integration is the best way forward. We must do everything humanly possible not to go back on our resolves. It is forward for the people and for the Yoruba race.
"We agreed that the next meeting, which holds in the next two months, will be held in Ekiti State."
He said that the meeting was unanimous in its resolve to strengthen the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN Commission) and the Odua Conglomerate to foster regional integration and development.
Fayose said that the managers of both pan-Yoruba organisations have been admonished to remain apolitical and to play a neutral role in their relationship with the owner states.
Earlier, the governor had told the forum to examine issues of common concern and learn from models that had worked for one state, with a view to replicating them for the common good of the people.
For instance, Fayose disclosed that the grazing regulation Law just passed in Ekiti had restored sanity to the land, adding that others could take a queue from the Law in order to protect farmers from avoidable losses occasioned by destruction of farm lands by straying cattle.
Aregbesola pleaded with his colleagues to take advantage of the remaining period of their tenure by ensuring that they redoubled their efforts to ensure the survival and prosperity of the people of the region.
Amosun also restated the need for the governors to shed their political differences by walking in the footsteps of the region’s nationalists and torchbearers, stressing that the unity of the region would be its strength.
He noted that the political differences of the governors of the region should not be a hindrance to exploring the economic possibilities in each state using comparative advantages as measuring index.
Ambode reminded his colleagues that the touted prosperity of Lagos State could only be sustained by the prosperity of its neighbour states.
He said he was committed to the improvement in the revenue base of the South-West such that a rail system would make it possible for people to work in Lagos State and live in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has stated that the state would get its first share of the 13 per cent Derivation Fund for oil producing states in December this year, following the first shipment of crude oil from the Aje Field located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 113, offshore Lagos, ThisDay reports.
Speaking yesterday in Lagos at the 2016 Annual International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), the governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Wale Olowu, said he was pleased to announce that the first export from the Aje oil field had happened.
According to him, the state was also closely monitoring and “getting ready to massively support other Oil Prospecting Licences in Lagos to make sure they can quickly transform to Oil Mining Leases.” Ambode also said the state government had established its own oil and gas corporation called Ibile Oil and Gas, which would open for business by next month.
Last week ThisDay newspapers published a story about how the CBN had fined StanChart Bank N2bn for a forex offence. Please read the story here.
Who gave this story to ThisDay? The story is not true so we strongly suspect it was someone in CBN who gave them the story.
So what really happened?
ICBC bank of China wanted to bring some dollars into the Nigerian economy. They called Stanbic IBTC who they normally use for their transactions and told them that they wanted to exchange the $60 million for naira and that they wanted a rate of N390 to $1.
Please be aware that Godwin Emefiele has previously warned all the banks to phone him before they do any foreign exchange transaction above N315 to $1 or else he will sanction them. Yes, you must phone Emefiele before you can buy dollars at more than N315 to $1!
So Stanbic called him to ask for his permission to buy the dollars from ICBC. Emefiele refused to give them permission. Stanbic now went back to ICBC to tell them they could not buy the dollars at that rate as CBN had refused them approval. Lo and behold, ICBC then informed Stanbic that they had already sold the $60 million to Zenith Bank at N390 to $1!!!
How did Zenith go behind Stanbic’s back to buy the dollars for the same rate when Emefiele had refused to give Stanbic approval??!
Please be aware that Emefiele has instructed banks to always post their transactions on Reuters. It is through Reuters that international investors and foreign media see Nigeria’s daily foreign excahnge transactions. But in this case, Zenith Bank did not post the $60m transaction on Reuters. Why? Is it because Emefiele wants to continue deceiving the world that Nigeria’s exchange rate is below N315 to $1?
But other banks heard that Zenith Bank had done a transaction for N390 to $1. Based on this, they thought that Emefiele had released his tight control of the market. Some of them quickly started calling their foreign clients to bring in money that could not be brought in because of the artificial low rates enforced by Emefiele.
This was where Standard Chartered entered Emefiele’s trouble. They called one of their foreign clients to arrange a $25m transaction at N380 to $1. They quickly bought it and then sold all the $25m to various Nigerian clients at N380.50 to $1. This is because Emefiele has another rule that banks must not charge more than a spread of 50kobo on forex deals. But typical of Emefiele, he allows some people break this rule!
The $60 million that Zenith Bank purchased from ICBC at N390 to $1 was sold to a Nigerian client at N420 to $1! Emefiele allowed them to do this and he also allowed them not to put the transaction in the Reuters system.
Standard Chartered then committed another offence according to the rules of Emefiele. They updated the $25 million transaction in Reuters. This means that Reuters then showed that rates on the interbank market were going up. They also did not call him for approval before doing the deal.
These 2 offences made Emefiele very angry so he immediately wrote Standard Chartered a letter (we have seen a copy of this letter) asking them to explain themselves. He immediately debited their account with a N1.7bn fine (Please note that the profit that they made on the deal was N12.5 million!). He also asked them to suspend their Chief Treasurer. Standard Chartered have placed the Treasurer on suspension as instructed.
***
Please be aware that we are not here to defend Nigerian banks and bankers. They are not saints. We are here to tell the truth about the damage Emefiele is doing to our economy. This forex scarcity has increased his power over the economy and he is now doing anything he likes. Is this because he is protected by Abba Kyari?
From this story we inform you of 3 things that Godwin Emefiele is using his office to do:
1. He is using the CBN to enrich Zenith Bank and allowing them break the rules he applies to other banks. For those who don’t know, Godwin Emefiele used to be the CEO of Zenith Bank before he joined CBN. 2. He is blocking foreign exchange from entering Nigeria at a time when the country is suffering a serious forex crisis. 3. He announced to the world in June that he was floating the Naira and then turned around to do another thing. In the eyes of foreign investors, Nigeria has no credibility again because the Central Bank governor can say one thing and do the opposite.
Godwin Emefiele is destroying our industries and our economy. Nigerians need to know the truth about what he is doing and we will reveal more of his corrupt deals and bad policies on this website!
If you have any information on Godwin Emefiele you will like to share. Please send an email to us at savenigeria@protonmail.com. Your anonymity is 100% guaranteed!
Earlier this year, Nintendo announced they were going to release a classic edition of the 90s favourite. This time, the 8-bit classic will be in a miniature version with 30 of the most popular games pre-loaded. Popular games such as the Super Mario series, Mega-Man, Ninja Gaiden etc. were headlined. The graphics have been stepped up with modern day advancements, compared to the original Nintendo visual quality.
IGN’s Jose Otero has conducted a thorough review, highlights of which are detailed below:
The controller cables are short (2.5 feet) An HDMI port and USB power input has been introduced The D-pad feels smoother and lighter than the uncomfortably hard original one Nintendo used You have different viewing options – crystal 4:3 mode, fuzzy CRT mode and pixel-perfect mode You are limited to just the 30 classic games pre-loaded

It’s common knowledge for anybody that follows international news that the more than two year long roil in global oil markets has caused pain across the oil sector, with little immunity offered.
Oil majors have lost billions, globally over 350,000 layoffs in the oil sector have ensued – while oil producing nations, ranging from U.S. shale oil producers, to various OPEC members, to the world’s largest oil producer Russia – have felt the pain.
Saudi Arabia, once thought immune to any prolonged downturn in oil prices, has also felt the pinch as prices have trended downward from $115 per barrel in mid-2014, to dipping into the $20s-range in January and now hovering in the high $40s to low $50s range.
The kingdom ran a record high budget deficit of $98 billion last year with an estimated $87 billion forecasted for this year. Low oil prices have hit Riyadh’s state coffers so hard that it offered it first international bond sale last week worth $17.5 billion, in efforts to bring in much needed cash.
In order to reign in expenses, the government has done what was once thought unthinkable – cutting costs and expenditures. At the beginning of the year, Saudi state media reported that the Finance Ministry would cut spending, adopt new taxes and reduce price subsidies for fuel, water and power.
