As a graduate of Engineering (Graduated in 2008) and worked 12/13 years in Oil and Gas, here's my advise:

1. Follow the tech route (start with software development/engineering or computer science)
2. Apply for a relatively easy 4-year course. Enroll for either ICAN/ACCA simultaneously. Upon graduation, enroll for a CFA Level 1. Choose from the multiple and juicy opportunities the finance world will bring your way - Investment Banking, Trading, Private Equity etc.

What is the function of NNPC maintenance department Are they not being paid When you see ministries and agencies excesses and redundancy...it's better you condemn.

You think Prof. Orosanye's report and recommendations of merging agencies and scrapping redundant ones to curb wastages is nonsense

You comment shows you don't know how government agencies, ministries works.

Oga, you are the one that knows nothing about how NNPC works.

NGC, a subsidiary of NNPC offtakes natural gas from gas fields and transports it via trunk lines (property of NNPC), to be further redistributed to end user customers by Franchisees.

The Franchisee is responsible for constructing the low pressure lines and building the citygate (where high pressure gas from the main trunk line is stepped down).

The franchisee in this case is Axxela (formerly Oando Gas and Power which acquired Gaslink).

The Franchisee Operates and Maintains the line on behalf of NNPC and recover their costs over a period of years.

Nothing new has been said here. Google Algorithms change everytime, requiring you to constantly update your SEO strategy.

I'd rather you talk more on actual SEO strategies
that will help boost SERP rankings.

Link building for example, is one of the most natural ways to boost your Domain Authority. Tools like Ahrefs, Moz, SEMrush, Buzzstream etc. are the kind of things I would have expected you to discuss. You also want to discuss how to build backlinks the White Hat way - cold outreach emails, fixing broken links, resource pages, student discounts, Guest posts etc.

Career / Why Expert Translators Are Needed In Legal Translation by bulletproofmonk(m): 5:00pm On Sep 19, 2019
The language of the legal industry is very precise and it would not tolerate any error which is why an expert translator is needed for legal translations.

Trust is something very valuable especially in the legal industry. It is something that you have to earn. If you speak the same language as your clients, it's one way for you to gain and keep their trust.

Legal clients require advice and information in their own language and it is vital that legal documents remain true to the source material. It is imperative that the legal language and the integrity of the translated content are always maintained.

What is legal translation?

The translation of text used in the legal system is called legal translation. It is required that documents for legal purposes should be available in the official language used within a specific jurisdiction. Therefore, legal translation involves a variety of materials from court documents to patents, identification, contracts, financial, transcripts and more.

Legal translation may also include the translation of documents that are related to a case. Some of them could be text messages, emails or bank statements as well as documents coming from overseas.

Various law enforcement agencies need legal translation, such as courts of law and immigration agencies. Others groups who need legal translation include corporations, patent and trademark applicants, real estate agencies, property owners and educational institutions.

What are the qualities of legal translators?

Aside from the exemplary linguistic and cultural skills, legal translators must be highly educated. They should be experts in a particular type of law and has the required experience in handling documents related to their area of expertise.

They work with very important and sensitive documents from a particular organization and should be able to deliver high quality translation work that conforms to the stringent demands of the client.

Legal translation is very challenging and demanding. Accuracy in their translation work is a must. Every subtlety found in the source document must be captured and translated without losing the original's integrity, so it will be legally understood in whatever language the document in translated into.

Legal translators should be native speakers as they have a better knowledge and understanding of their mother tongue, compared to people who speak it only as a second language.

A college degree is essential for a legal translator. Although not required, it is advantageous for a legal translator to have a graduate degree or a master's degree in language or law.

The ability to absorb, understand and engage in the complexity of legal texts is necessary for legal translators. These traits will help them in effectively delivering the required translation according to the criteria set by the client. Legal translators must be experts in the legal systems of two or more countries.

"Challenging" is a term that is associated with any form of translation work but more so in legal translation, where the translators often work under pressure. Often, the work has a very short deadline and the clients expect a fast turnaround.

Not many people venture to be legal translators because it also carries a lot of risks. There is no room for error because mistranslations could have very adverse effects. There should never be any ambiguity in the translation, as well. Everything should be very clear.

Other than having a very good command of at least two languages, expert legal translators should have special knowledge of the different branches of legal systems of different countries. Clients will be more confident if the legal translators they hire have a vast knowledge not only about local laws but also the cultural differences.

Because legal translation is not confined to just the court cases, the expertise of the translators manifests in the ability to properly analyze and put into context the legalese between two differing systems. It shows that the knowledge base of the translators is extensive and current.

The demands for legal translation

Legal translation is very much in demand in the business world right now. Because a number of companies are increasingly developing and exploring new markets in various parts of the world, the amount of paperwork, not just business contracts, require the expertise of legal translators in many aspects.

It is not always smooth sailing within the business world as competition is very fierce. Corporations now cross borders and millions of dollars are exchanged each year. With so much at stake, corporations need to properly communicate with each other, which means the demand for legal translation today is rising.

Corporations have to react quickly to things that are happening within the community, in the same way that they have to be very vigilant throughout each phase of the business process.

An expert legal translator is a valuable partner for many companies that are going global for several reasons.

1. Speed in communication

Speed is a very essential factor in legal translation. Business deals can be acquired or lost in a matter of seconds or minutes. It is very important for a company to have someone on their side who would be able to quickly translate a document accurately and legally. It is necessary so that cases, deals and contracts are not delayed unnecessarily.

Speed to market is essential in legal translation for business as slow translations of important documents such as patents, offers and contracts can hinder the global movement of companies. Small and large enterprises do not want delays in their required documents because it could mean losing service providers, clients, partners, distributors and consumers.

2. Business law is not static

Among the many people who are engaged in business, a legal translator should be able to keep up with the changes in business law that happen all the time. The translator must be able to grasp the changes in the countries concerned. Legal translators must not stop learning and should always be abreast of the changes happening in their areas of expertise. This is another reason why speed is critical in legal translation. Changes can occur in the blink of an eye and if the translation is done slowly, it might no longer apply because the regulations have been changed.

3. Knowledge of the legal language

The legal terminology is not something that everyone can learn. Words and phrases that do not mean anything per se could carry more weight in legal terms. It is important for companies to have someone who has a deep understanding of the legal terminology and how they are applied to various legal documents.

4. Legal and linguistic diversity

The business world may be global but technically, there are legal differences among countries. Some things may be acceptable in other countries while taboo in others. An expert legal translator has the right knowledge to understand the linguistic and legal differences of at least two countries, has a deeper understanding of the nuances of the language and how the countries' laws are applied to ensure that the documents they translate remain useful and relevant.

5. Accuracy in the translation

Accuracy is a must for all types of translation work but legal translation demands so much more. In the legal sector, accuracy is vital because even one word can make so much difference to the document's gravity, tone or meaning. An expert legal translator can help secure the legal success of your business. While quick turnaround is often required, accuracy should always be maintained.

The legal market is one of the few sectors worldwide where quality and precise translation is highly required. Because companies are going global, they are required to operate in a variety of languages, which means preparing court documents, agreements, deeds, tenders, patents and contracts in several versions.

The most significant component of legal translation is the ability to understand the nature of what is important to the client. The legal translator must deeply consider the need for quality and speed in the translation to provide the client with the most effective and significant solution.

A deep understanding of sector-defined language and the law is vital to a legal translator. It helps them to tailor their translation work to any client without affecting the quality of the translation. For legal translators, they must appreciate that legal translation means working within very short deadlines most of the time.

Thought the fire has been put off

No, it hasn't. Infact there is a new political twist to it, involving the Brazilian President who is accused of being in the know,

Apparently, Jair Bolsonaro the president of Brazil, had vowed to eliminate all protected areas in the Amazon and open them up for business. Often referred to as the Trump of the Tropics, Bolsonaro doesn’t believe in climate change and he sees the Amazon as Brazil’s cash cow (pun intended). He sees the demand for Brazilian beef and stops at nothing to make sure that the demand is met with adequate supply. He wants to open up the Amazon for mining and agribusiness, he says he’s going to pardon people charged with fines of deforestation. He thinks Brazil doesn’t owe the world anything when it comes to environmental protection.

Foreign Affairs / How Destructive Is The Amazon Forest Fire To The Earth? by bulletproofmonk(m): 5:02pm On Aug 30, 2019
The fires raging at the Amazon rainforest this past three weeks have put the region in the news once again. According to the news, about 9,500 fires are occurring right now across the Amazon. The public is alarmed since the fires in the Amazon are killing the trees and wildlife in the area. Moreover, the forest fires contribute to the higher levels of emission of greenhouse gas destroying the ozone layer.

The Amazon rainforest covers an area of 6,000,000 square km. or 2,300,000 square miles. The tropical rainforest is the most biologically different and richest reservoir in the world, containing a variety of flora and fauna, many of which are not yet on record. The consistent high temperatures, high humidity and high rainfall in the rainforest contribute to its continuity and extent.

Effects on the Environment

It is said that over 20% of the oxygen in the world comes from the Amazon rainforest. This means that fires in the Amazon has a worldwide effect. Generally, tropical rainforests are cited as "lungs of the planet" due to their ability to release more oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. Under normal conditions, carbon dioxide is needed for plant fertilization. Therefore, if there is carbon monoxide, more plants will grow in the rainforests, which in turn will be able to release more oxygen. However, if the balance is tipped, it could have adverse effects.

Deforestation has a direct effect on global warming. If more trees are lost, the oxygen level the trees release will decrease, saturating the rainforest with carbon monoxide. Using the theory of supply and demand, if there is an oversupply of carbon monoxide which cannot be used by the rainforests, the gas will be released into the air again. This is why the tropical rainforests such as the Amazon are essential to Mother Earth.

Climate stability depends on the ecosystem of large and dense rainforests such as the Amazon, which is the largest rainforest in the world. Reforestation can be done. However, it would take several centuries for a denuded rainforest to return to its original state. Thus, what is happening in the Amazon is alarming many concerned organizations, scientists, environmentalists and people around the world.

Career / Digital Nomads: 6 Remote Jobs That Allow You To Live Anywhere by bulletproofmonk(m): 4:57pm On Aug 23, 2019
Do you ever wonder what it's like to have a remote job that gives you the chance to be mobile and live anywhere you like?

The Internet, mobile devices and advanced communication technology all contribute to increasing your productivity. Ideally, these developments allow you to work faster and achieve more each workday. Even if you are on the road, you are able to check on your emails, view the progress of your current projects, communicate with company executives and clients, and even close deals.

Having a remote job means the same as telecommuting, working remotely or working from home. Essentially, it means that you are working from your desired location instead of in an office.

Telecommuting is an option that new graduates, young professionals and senior people who have retired but are still capable of productive work. Some people consider doing part-time or full-time telecommuting. Does having a remote job hurt your career? Will you be considered a slacker if you work from home?

If you are practical and a forward-thinker, the answer to the question is a no since there are many ways in which you'll still be very productive and be an essential part of an office or a department. It means that it is your attitude towards working that will be the gauge on how effective and productive you'll be.

You can use video conferencing, various communication technologies like emails and social media to stay connected with your office and colleagues. In the modern business setting, speed is essential and more often, most people are needed to be on their job throughout the day, every day of the week. An increasing number of companies offer flexibility programs in their workplaces for various reasons.

Advantages of working remotely

Offering remote jobs is advantageous for workers and business owners. In many cases, employees become more efficient and productive when there is no traditional office setting and office hours. Workers become happier as well, particularly parents who want to supervise their young children.

Here are more benefits for business owners and workers.

1. Commuting time is reduced

Employees often complain about the unpleasantness and stress of commuting due to heavy traffic, cost of fuel and pollution. Without needing to commute to work every day, employees become happier. The business is given a boost as healthy and happy employees contribute to their productivity. It also reduces absenteeism. Moreover, allowing them to do their jobs remotely reduces their cost of travel, giving them more money to spend on other essentials.

2. Greater retention of employees

There are employees that offices do not want to lose. Offering them a remote job can help retain them. It is beneficial to small business owners as well who cannot compete in terms of salaries and benefits. They have the chance to access employees with the experience, capability and skills they need without paying them a premium. Many employees who do not want to be tied to their desks welcome the freedom to work on their own that small business offers them.

3. Option to choose and use better talents

Large companies cannot afford to hire and fire employees at will. If they embrace workplace flexibility, they have the option to choose from and work with highly skilled talents who are not interested in full-time jobs. Businesses can hire talented workers regardless of commuting distance particularly for jobs or locations where there is a shortage of skilled individuals.

4. Gives employees autonomy

Offering employees the chance to telecommute allows them to work at their own pace. There are people who are not suited for desk jobs. While some people want the order and routine of the environment inside an office, other people, especially the younger ones, are not adaptable to it. If they are allowed to control their own work environment, they become more effective workers, efficient and productive. Creative employees often produce their best work when they are located elsewhere other than an office. Some of them do not mind what time or how long they work.

Although you offer some employees remote jobs, it is still important to set rules, guidelines and schedules for your team to follow.

5. Online teaching

Faster Internet connection and better means of communication open the doors to a variety of jobs, such as online teaching. You can connect with an organization that offers online teaching or do it on your own. You can teach any subject based on your experience and expertise. Several students around the world who are looking for tutors. If you speak other languages, you'll be able to find many students. Your ability to generate a good income depends on your qualifications. Likewise, your location does not matter for a worthwhile remote job as online teaching.

6. Social media marketing

It's not a secret that many brands today maintain accounts in various social media platforms. They use these platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, for brand and product updates, provide consumers with information that are interesting to different users and make announcements. But updating their social media pages needs a dedicated person. If you are good at copywriting and very well versed in using social media platforms, you can be a social media marketer. You do not have to leave your home. You can use email to communicate with your clients and receive information. You can write the articles, have them approved and upload them to their dedicated pages. Being a social media marketer is one of the perfect jobs for a digital nomad.
