@ mrpataki, i fail to see where i insulted you or took issues personal, my reference to your philiosophy as "comedic" seems to be the issue, that remains my candid opinion.

For starters since you couldnt answer my questions. Let me answer yours. In the most basic terms my responsibility as a citizen is to act within the tenets of the law in all my endeavours i.e. be a law abiding citizen. It is the responsibility of the govt to enact the law, uphold the consitution and ensure the laws are obeyed by all. Such laws are promulgated in acts which empower the various tiers of govt.

The Govt designs policies at the macro level and the effect of this policies filter and affect the micro environment. What should my tax and other revenues be used for, if i shouldnt be spoon fed, then i shouldnt be taxed simple and the income from the oil in my village should be shared to me, but as long as i am taxed and that revenue is shared by the different tiers of govt, i expect the money to be utilised constructively.

I hold myself responsible for my actions and inaction and none goes against the consitution of Nigeria. I am not lawless and wont act in a lawless manner. Hey am civilised and educated mate, wake up.

The issue is simple the govt has a social responsibility to meet and that includes providing affordable accomodation directly or indirectly, this singular action is parallel to that responsibility. Its not about pointing accusing fingers, its about the govt waking up to its responsibilities.

NB: Please get yourself together and present your case, the spoon feeding falacy of yours again is comedic.

How can a govt not be held responsible for its action or inaction. Blame me for the power, Why should we even have a govt since you cant define the responsibilities of the state. The story suggest that 2-3 years ago LSDPC officials came to take a list of all the existing residents and assured that they would be relocated before any demolition. 2-3 years later the govt has not completed the promised relocation, then commence demolition, fool where do you expect the people to go. Why then are we surprised that armed robbery is on the increase, its not rocket science buy sub machine guns for the police it wont solve anything as long as you dont empower people positively they will survive anyway, where govt philosophy is like the private sector, ignoring the social responsibilities, this is the nonsense we get.

Later we would say the pople dont listen that they would come back and hang around, people that ordinarily have no choice. I think its time lawyers start suing the govt and forcing them to do the right thing. Its really annoying, rejuvination is done worldwide, the result will depend on how the whole process is managed, any rejuvination should have the interest of the average citizen. Yes its laudable a multi billion shopping complex is built but hey the people cant afford, how has that empowered or reduced the poverty rate. The govt has only succeded in empowering the already empowered.

Your crust seems to be palestinian authority / palestinian organistion, comeon its a discussion forum, and looking at it in a context the palestinian authority is a palestinian organisation, since the so called palestinian aithority rule/authority is divided its authority is limited to only the west bank as hamas controls the Gaza strip, it cannot be considered a govt it does not have power and legitimacy, its really just an organisation, a Paramilitary organisation maybe. The summary is therefore right, it gives a snap shot of longer statement.

In theory you might be able to consider a single party state a democracy, since democracy is just a govt chosen by the people, so if the people say they want a single party, then that should be a democracy. But practically how feasible is that, every body wants options.

I personally wont consider a single party state a democracy, because sustaining a single party status quo would involve the infringing on the rights of so many. A major input of democracy is the freedom attached to it, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and all the may freedoms,

Look at the case of China, a good example of a single party system. In China a lot of this rights are non-existant, the media and even the internet is highly censored. This is a party that has been ruling since 1949, the society is highly regulated by the govt, you just cant talk against the communist party, i know many chinese that far away cant talk against its govt, even if they want to. its institutionalsied in them, the way we should respect our parents.

@ presido, i leave you to your search for a map, i wont do that for you, it might be a bit of hard work but you will be amazed the volume of information you will get. The demarcation of the villages is being done by that commission and at the end of the day a lot of things will be sorted (including adjusting the map) it takes time. Expect a similar upward swing when the dollar starts to make its recovery.

My own conspiracy theory (please don't crucify me) is that the devaluation is driven by speculators who will definately hedge their positions (currency options and swaps) because of the subprime wahala which are in dollars attempt to reduce the value of this holdings which is causing them to loose, make substantial gains and speculate back in favour of the dollars after a while.

Though the fundamentals suggest a devaluation, the way its going suggest an invincible hand at work. This investment banker and traders are not happy, they don't want to loose alone.

I hope our govt have hedged the reserves (i have a bit of confidence in Soludo he would have) so theres really nothing to worry na only premium we go loose, which we would have lost anyway.

@ denex, let me attempt to clarify. In the Uk, they run a parliamentary system of government, where as you rightly said the leader of the winning party in the polls becomes the prime minister. Theoretically it aims to achieve a situation where there they dont have an all powerful President. The party can choose to change leader and therefore change prime minister. Most importantly is that you have an opposition that runs a shadow cabinent just as the govt, they appoint all the secretarties (what we call ministers as well) who as the word suggest acts as a shadow on the govt, but have no responsibilities what so ever than to shout when they want to. basically keep the govt on their toes. In the UK, its the conservative party. But also there are not so major oppositions, the Liberal democrats and other smaller units too little to mention.

The issue here is that the pople have a choice to vote for someone else.

But in china, you have only ONE PARTY, the communist party, there is no option to vote for someone else. If thats a democracy, i leave that to you.

We are not talking of economic systmens i.e. capitalism, communism/socialism or mixed ecomonies, we are talking of forms of government dont be confused by the nomenclature communist party.

A - A judgement has been passed by the ICJ, which should be respected by the parties, because they are signatories and the ICJ has jurisdiction in the dispute.

B - The senate should let the matter be as it is no matter how painful it is to all.

C- If the previous govt (not only OBJ as he didnt act alone) was found to have acted unconstitutionally they should be held accountable.

I can't see from the above where i called for war, where i said bakassi is still part of Nigeria, where i said ICJ has no jurisdiction. These are things you concur in your contribution so please don't you compare my contribution to yours, i consider that an insult.

Which govt took the decision to go to the ICJ? I can't remember i don't think it was OBJ. If OBJ erred in erred consitutionally, then OBJ should be held accountable for his actions. These are the questions we should be asking, how it was possible for OBJ to unilaterally take that decision at the time.

Why didnt the previous senate raise issues, most of the current senators are returning senators.

No, because Nigeria agreed to be bound by the ruling of the ICJ. We should be more careful when we sign treaties, our mumu mumu is enough, we need to re-awaken the giant within, but to do that we must be a giant and get our acts together.

And in this particular dispute gave consentual jurisdiction to the ICJ, why didnt people raise those questions. We agreed to abide by the ruling so please those arguement can not hold.

@ babasin, the ICJ has consentual jurisdiction in this dispute, we agreed to go there and abide by the decision of the ICJ. My problem is that of contradictory stands, i read a lot of "rule of law" supporting the AGF, should that be only when its convenient and perhaps protect (sorry) allow the rich and powerful protect themselves. The ruling by the ICJ was painful to me, more painful was when OBJ obeyed it, like there was a choice , but my opinion is that the senate should let it be. The lesson to be learnt so that such doesnt happen again is our mumu mumu approach of signing any treaty for the sake of it.

The US are always so smart, they are not signatories to a lot of this sometimes stupid treaties, and in the ICJ for example there is no compulsory jurisdiction on them thats why they can act the way they do at times, and legally you can't hold them.
