Just watching some past FIFA WC highlights

Is it that Africans don't understand the game of football?

Why are we lagging behind?

In every FIFA tournament, the majority have a poor outing.

What could actually b wrong with African football? (rhetorical though)

Why corruption and thief thief never let us see road?

Is it a curse or what?
I think it has to do with our leagues. majority of our players are assembled from different leagues couple with little time to make the team gel before a major tournament.
also our players are not consistent at the top level making it difficult to have a stable team for a long period of time. we may likely have new sets of players when next we have another competition.

Nigerians always overrate the Super Eagles.

This is a team that has failed to qualify for the previous two AFCONs.

Getting to the Semis is a pleasant surprise.

If you like bring Mourinho, they are not going to play better than this. You can only use the available players and right now, Nigeria doesn't have players to dominate the continent. How many Nigerian players are playing in top clubs?

Rohr is not the problem. Nigeria fans' unnecessary expectations is the problem.
This is the simple truth people fail to see. we are not there yet in terms of quality players.

We need Amunike's tactical insights and brilliance. When it comes to tactics, he know it well.
Amunike will sound good until we lose a game. if Tanzania was not patient with him do you think Nigeria will?

I am glad we made our mark. this stage in any cup competition is usually not easy, you will always need a bit of luck.
we must win the 3rd place match.

from what I saw we were the better side in the 2nd half. our midfield collapsed towards the end of the game.

best response so far. Op, even if the court gives d child to u ( which is almost impossible), shey na 15 k u go dey use to take care of a 2 yr old child? very unfair to d child. if u want a chobby, intelligent, smart, sharp and neat kid who can compete with his mates, abeg 15k no fit do anything, except u want him to start begging from his friends. a below average creche in my area is abt 15k per month, food nko, shoes nko, cloth nko, oga just increase your huzzle and pray make God bless d huzzle before you release another sperm next time. just wondering.... if u send 15k to d child, wat would u send to d mum? u think say to born pikin na beans, a friend of mine who loved kids planned to get a nice bus after marriage so as to always carry his 'many' children, after 1 child, my guy told me say e be like say hin go stop child bearing.... 15k cannot do nothing for that child. How much is baby food? How much is daycare? etc

I will be honest with you - allow that rich man to look after that child biko and try and make money - take courses, hustle, get a job etc.

A child belongs comes out of who? the father or the mother?? it is who a mother gives her child to that is the father. Ok!? No one is sure who thier true father is - it is whoever your mum tells you is your father that is your father! Ok!?

Get money before you try for another baby with the next lucky lady or that one too will give your child to the highest bidder.

Most woman don't know babies are expensive until they have them - a mother's job is to do what is best for her child. Try and understand. Go make some money.

I have included prices of baby things below - does not contain school fees. He is mine is not the point here - It is can you give him a good life? You need to man up it is not about sperm. Once a child is on earth it is about provision. People will say otherwise but don't let anyone trick you. If you love that child you will let the rich man adopt him and use your ego to make money. Your child does not need your love as much as he needs diapers and formula

The truth hurts and I am sorry
you are a proper fool.

I have recently seen replays of some of our matches at the 2013 afcon, all the group matches and the final menh to be honest our play was crappy.

many fans on this thread hate Rohr not necessarily because of the way we play but because of some of their favourite players not featured by Rohr.
It bagan with Shehu against Ebuehi. Shehu is arguably the most criticised play here irrespective of the team performance Shehu would always be singled out for criticism, up till now the hatred for Shehu is still there.
I am sure if it was Shehu that allowed Bassagog make that cross for Cameroon's equalizer this thread would have been filled with condemnation. I can even recall the panic clearance by Awaziem that landed on the chest of a Cameroon player ThankGod for the poor control.
I am not trying to compare or criticize any player but just to point out the obvious hypocrisy on this thread.

Let me tell you the guys that'll stop getting call ups when Rohr is sacked and a better coach is hired:

Mikel

Musa

Ighalo

Ogu

Akpeyi

Ezenwa ( because his uncle Aloysius may be sent packing as well)

Iheanacho (unless his club form improves drastically)

Awaziem (I fail to see what this guy offers. Even if he is played in CB, him go still Bleep up)

Balogun (unless his club form improves or he starts playing regularly)
Musa will always get invitations. he is just 26 with lots of experience.

the level of pessimism and negativity on this tread is becoming too much, the place is becoming toxic. can we just play our role as fans and just support the team not because winning is guaranteed but because that is what we should do I.e support respective of the situation. irrespective of our opinions on Rohr and the team the fact is we are stuck with them for now. Rohr will not be with us forever so let's just enjoy the afcon and hope for the best for our team.
if you really can't stand losing in soccer then support a team you are sure would always win.

musa is just 26 and still in his prime. he is one of the most patriotic and loyal super eagles player who has always made himself available whenever being called upon. musa should be respected and be seen as model for upcoming players in the super eagles. Besides there is a reason musa has survived several coaches in the SE, he has a unique quality.
the way I say it, it will be difficult for any SE coach to completely discard Musa.

I think the Argentina game was his best. He's a good man manager and he's given us some results (qualifying us for AFCON after two missed tournaments, Worldcup with a game to spare...we haven't really needed our calculators with him) but like someone here suggested, he needs a tactician to help him if he's going to stay. He seems to have problems reading the game and making changes.
The midfield needs work. Another AM, a DM/CM (Semi Ajayi?) and definitely a goal keeper. We might need another CB although I don't think that is as urgent. I think this should be Mikel and Ogu's last tournament for us; probably Akpeyi as well, Uzoho seems to be struggling.
Cohesion is a problem at times. There are days we do really well and some days you just wonder...I admit that the coach has a bigger role to play with player selection than the players.
I really feel the coach decided to use this match as an experiment.

That is why I am me. I believe in the possessive offensive system and believes it needs time to grow. I believe negative football masks the true strength of a team and with time the weakness shows. More like the team losing quality, while to possessove/offensive grows with time.
everything changes with time either for good or bad. How come Spain is finding it difficult despite their constant offensive style?
the true strength of a team lies in the type of players in the team. there are players who are better suited for conservative play. It is for the coach to realize the type of players in his possession.

I hate what he stands for. Simeone is not fan of the game. Never will I be a fan. I am talking of him losing did not mean his philosophy can not win titles.

As for supporting him? Nah. I do not even like watching his games.
cup competition is different from league format any mistake you are gone. Amunike did not manage the game properly.
what do u mean by negative football? football is football there is no single way of setting up and playing the game, the aim is to win.
that you are not a fan does not make the style of play negative or bad there are still so many fans in love with it.

That is why I keep talking about offensive systems.

In the game between Manchester City and Steaua Bucharest in one of the Champions league playoffs, Aguero missed two penalties. Going by your above point, then Aguero's career would have ended that day. He went on to score a hat trick in that game.

Misses are part of the game but our conservative plays make misses vital instead of part of the game. I have seen Aubameyang, Messi, CR7, Suarez miss loads in game and still deliver. This is due to the system of play creating chances for offensive players to excel.

However, with Rohr packing the bus, Nacho missing means the end of the World.

I would not blame the player there but the system. We need to be more inventive in our play and create loads for our forwards to excel.
you failed to factor in the fact that not all players are equal in terms of pedigree and club situations. vardy, Messi, Aubameyang, Aguero can all afford to miss chances and still have their spots intact. Kelechi is in a different situation. he will have to learn to make use of every opportunity.

the point goodjoe is making is that other clubs are also not spending peanuts everyone has spent big to compete. when it gets to that point it's then coaching ability that will separate men from boys. let's even analyze who were the lynchpins for pep's success last season aguero, sterling, david silva, de-bruye, fernadinho, Kompany was it pep that bought all these guys?

one thing i always find funny is why the same energy is not maintained to criticize mourinho, alex ferguson, ancelloti to say they bought the league
pep is the best coach at the moment but let's not act as if money has not played a role in his successes at city. any good manager will once in a while win the league with city but pep is doing it in grand style that's what differentiates him from the rest.
do you think pep would have achieved much with 70m transfer budget to start with?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Bunique: 2:33pm On May 09, 2019
TheGoodJoe:
First of all, I stand for the truth than build a reputation to appease people. Guardiola, Nacho or whoever is not worth as much as the truth. I will always stand for the truth.

The idea that Guardiola would flop without money is far from fact. Purely fiction and you have no statistical backing to prove that.

Guardiola lost five defenders due to age coupled with the fact he was using Kolarov as a central defender to steady the ship. Shows his ability to deal with pressure.

Guardiola had to replace those players, not buying to bolster his squad. The likes of Bernardo, Sane, Gabby Jesus are young players which are to make an impact later. Even Mahrez is not a regular in the squad but someone with the sight for the future.

So where the idea of Guardiola needing money to excel comes from baffles me. Klopp has actually been the one spending to build the formidability of his team.

They are both fantastic managers and I will not run both for buying because all coaches need to spend to compete at the highest stage. You can not crucify one for buying and praise another for doing the same. That shows bias and not standing for the truth.
you are not really getting the point. pep for me is the best coach currently but to be honest, his quick successes in the EPL is largely due to the amount of cash at his disposal.
the replacements were necessary and justifiable but pep was able to carryout the cleansing exercise quickly because there was cash available to do that.
look at Arsenal for example, the coach will have to work with the players he has despite everyone knowing the players are not really good enough. It will take Emery several transfer windows to get the squad of his own choice.
in all honesty do you think pep would have achieved this much with city if he was handed 70m as transfer budget? pep would have eventually transformed city but it would have taken time like say 2 to 3 seasons to get them to this current level.
