Politics is played at a very high risk of survival. If anyone with an ambition, and he or she is advised against it, the result shall be perpetual enmity. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, in 2015, the workers at the third tier of government in Rivers state have become beggers due to delay in payment of their monthly stipend, which had turned all local council workers in the twenty-three LGAs to debtors, even when the monthly Federal allocations are released as and at when due.
These salaries are sometimes delayed for two to three months before they are paid, and nobody has ever given any acceptable explanation; While their counterparts in the state civil service are paid regularly. But why?
