Aww I still have fond memories of Yankari. Visited when I was in primary school. Like 18 years ago. I remember the spring filled with many whites and thier kids. Then the north was very safe. No boko haram, no kidnapping. The food was intercontinental. Every race could eat from the restaurant. I will never forget the baboons lipsrsealed. They stole our chin chin from our car and were eating it right in front of us.
I would love to experience Yankari again.
Hahaha, exactly! Those baboons are criminals. Silly me was busy feeding them bread until they struck. Lol. Planning a trip there later in the year. Do you have an idea how much a night costs in there? Cheapest abeg....as I usually spend almost all my time at their bar there.

Oil is not a 'curse'.

It is certain people who are a curse.

Look at Nigeria's history, remind yourself who has stagnated development in Nigeria and which region still has terrible indices and that will explain it all.
While it is a blessing to you, it has been a curse to my region and all other non-oil-producing regions as these thieves called the elite have abandoned the exploration of all other revenue generating avenues in our regions to feast on proceeds from your oyel. I do not benefit from it anything special than these other resources can provide and as such if fiscal federalism is what will rewire my region into retracing it's steps in that regard, then so be it. At least, my state government wouldn't have been dull enough to hand over the keys to our only viable factory (the Benue Cement Company) to Dangote. It should have instead expanded it and also revamped the dead Taraku mills, BENRO, Otukpo Burnt Bricks Factory, Igumale Cement factory, Wanunne Tomato Factory, Katsina Ala fruit juice proceesing plant and a host of others lying fallow. The revenue accruing from the above listed would sustain my small state for centuries if well managed. That's how it should be in all regions. It is not the common non-oil producing man in my region that is feeding fat from the oil wells and quite frankly we all would be better off without it. Oil is not a blessing to my people in any way. It would be a thing of joy to see the ND be like Dubai and the rest of the U.A.E. However, make no mistake that the rest of us do not have our blessings too. The foolish old man who made that statement (drink your oil) should be ashamed of himself honestly.

Sudan is not 'thriving' - far from it. They're now crying to the Americans to life the sanctions that were imposed as a result of their compliance in harboring Islamic terrorists and their abuse of citizens in Darfur.

They were fine when the South Sudanese were financing their adventures but have been in decline ever since the South Sudanese fought and won their independence.
That will not be the case with the rest of Nigeria once this curse of oil is removed. We are way too blessed for that. Just hope our greedy politicians get a change of heart.

DeCleff:
If not for the destruction of farmland due to oil exploration, who will look northwards for food?

We can produce virtually everything we need to survive even without oil.

We never bought food from the north even before the oil was discovered but we survived. The oil is just a plus.

The same people who invaded our land through military rule, came in and destroyed our farmland so we can depend on them for food.

If an annual revenue from crude oil sales is invested in different sector in the Niger Delta, do you think we'll remain the same?
Calm down, I am pro- fiscal federalism. You guys should be given your oyel.

JKN Waku is wrong by assuming that the SS will die of starvation if the North withholds food supply, just as many of the chestbeaters on NL(and sadly many more offline) believe that other sections of the country will perish if they are deprived of SS oil.
Like I said earlier, we need to get this phase over with ASAP so the rest of the country can focus on other sectors as we are so abundantly blessed.
Last I googled, even less endowed Sudan is still thriving.

See? I'm on your side.

In as much as i don't support the way the Federal Government is treating the Niger Delta, here is one thing you should know partaking to your question.

The economy has enjoyed sustained economic growth for a decade, with annual real GDP increasing by around 7%; it was 6.3% in 2014. The non-oil sector has been the main driver of growth, with services contributing about 57%, while manufacturing and agriculture, respectively contributed about 9% and 21%. The economy is thus diversifying and is becoming more services-oriented, in particular through retail and wholesale trade, real estate, information and communication.
You seriously expect someone from the Niger Delta to comprehend or worse still agree with what you just wrote? The "AWA OYEL" crew couldn't care less o.
They should be given resource control abeg, so they can develop their lands and most importantly the minds of their people on time before "oyel" becomes yesterday's news.
That in itself will help the rest of the country focus on other aspects of revenue generation and long-lasting development.

Don't mind all these online analysts. Calling a sustained massacre of women, children, men and entire villages "slightest excuse."

Then they get hit by a parked wheel barrow and run online to rant.

The simple fact that she can be wielding that gun openly should suggest to even the dimmest of wits that security presence in those parts is almost non-existent leaving residents with little or no option to result to self defense measures.

But hey, we have access to smart phones now so automatically our society is ideal (with NAVY SEALS on 24/7 patrols of those areas).
Yeye full ground.

It did not make me mad, I only responded in the same line you made it.

Thankfully, Moral right does not apply in a court of law. If the Laws of the Nation says its illegal to own full automatic weapons, then anyone who owns one (Morally justified or otherwise) is afoul of the law and should be brought to book.

I have also faced my own fair share of incidents surrounding insecurity in the country including robbery, mob lynching and the likes, still does not make it LEGAL for me to take the law into my own hands.

Please cut out the Daddy's house nonsense, its too late to start acting grown uu after that childish drivel you posted in response to my post. I didnt start wishing you ill first, you did. So that high ground ship has sailed.

Sentimentally speaking, everyone who has experienced a traumatic event around insecurity can 'justifiably' own a weapon for self protection.. BUT LEGALLY, they will face the full wrath of the law (experience not withstanding).

Tell me about Tonto Dike and Olajumoke now assuming you can also have that conversation with your head and not your emotions and feelings.. grin

#MadCoww..
lol. Kai oooo. You Mad Cow, are quoting ideals. We, on this side, are facing a reality. A reality in which, quite frankly, your opinions don't count . There were times past when I'd engage in a back and forth with you on this. Not today.

What shoes?

Then you start praying doom on me.

Okay.. Let's allow her hold and her people hold on to high powered full automatic weapons because of herdsmen.

Let's also allow herdsmen hold full automatics as well because of wild animals and other threats to their livestock.

Let's allow farmers possess high powered rifles so herdsmen that trespass their games can be shot.

Let's allows drivers own rifles too against highway robbers.

Let's allow every Nigerian hold automatic weapons because we all face one threat or the other.

You are too stupiid even by Internet standards.

May your family find themselves in whatever situation you wish me.

Lwkmd! See just how mad (angry) a simple nairaland comment made you abi?
You have no moral right to say my people shouldn't bear arms given the reality of the situation they face, have been facing and will face.
See where I said "reality?" Good. That's something keyboard critics can't get a grasp of sitting comfortably in Daddy's house, eating mummy's food.
So please stick to the Olajumoke and Tonto threads and not these ones. You know nothing about war.

But if her father is not a Police officer, then he should be arrested as no Private citizen should be found in possession of such a high caliber weapon.

Some of us have no problem if they restrict their campaign to the ND and bomb it to pieces (just like BH did in the North) Taking it outside that region will bring with it repercussions solely to be borne by the common ND man.
PoliticsRe: "Niger-Delta Avengers" Threaten To Bomb Lagos And Abuja - Madoch Agninibo by caesaraba(m): 5:48pm On May 06, 2016
Nooooo! That isn't right. They should please as a matter of urgency concentrate on blowing up oil well-heads ONLY in the Niger-Delta as that is a more productive solution. You guys can't do jack in Abj or Lagos or anywhere outside of the creeks for that matter. No need wasting your valuable resources. Just bomb the ND to smithereens. The more oil spills, the better. I have no problem with that one.

I'd also expect you to understand that even middle-class folks avail themselves to home service when it comes to stuff like barbing, talk more of a president (of an African country at that), but I could be wrong.
