The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to spend over N1.9bn on legal fees and related matters as aggrieved candidates challenge the outcomes of various elections in court. Atiku, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, and others have already challenged the result of the elections in court. The information is contained in INEC’s 2019 Election Project Plan which was obtained by The PUNCH. The document reads in part, “N1, 796, 547, 500.00. Professional fees and expenses for external solicitors to be engaged by the commission to represent it at the tribunals and appeals; honorarium for legal officers that represent the commission at election petitions and appeals. “Analysis of fees: Governorship petition at N4.5m X 20; senatorial petition at N3m X 45; House of Reps atN2.7m X105; state House of Assembly N1.350m X 244. Honorarium to in-house lawyers is seven per cent of fees payable to external solicitors.” Of the sum, N6m was spent on pre-election cases which are disputes that arose from the conduct of party primaries. The commission will also spend a separate N26.5m on monitoring the hearing of election petitions and appeals across the 36 states and the FCT. The sum will cover duty tour allowance and transport costs for the monitors at the hearing of election petitions and appeals as well as the compilation and printing of reports of petitions and appeals. The electoral umpire also budgeted a separate N99.5m for the compilation and production of updated electoral legal framework including the code of conduct for external lawyers and code of conduct for staff. A separate N25m will be spent on the prosecution of electoral offenders. Yakubu had revealed in January that the commission battled 1, 134 legal cases arising from election disputes in 2015, 2016 and 2017. He added, “In the course of discharging our responsibilities, no public institution in Nigeria is subjected to more litigation than INEC. Over the last two years (2016 and 2017), the commission has been involved in 454 court cases in addition to 680 cases determined by the Election Petitions Tribunals arising from the outcome of the 2015 general elections, making a total of 1,134 cases so far.” In another forum, Yakubu said no government agency in the country had been taken to court more than INEC because every aggrieved candidate would join the commission in almost every suit. People are RENTING out their Facebook accounts in exchange for money (DETAILS) www.netfreebies.us/2019/01/people-are-renting-out-their-facebook.html |
From your personal details to photos, your Facebook account contains a wealth of private information. Despite this, many people are renting out their Facebook accounts in exchange for money, according to a new report by Buzzfeed. Several firms are offering the the service to exploit Facebook’s ad system. Once an account has been rented out, those running it can create a new page and begin running ads on it. And worryingly, even if Facebook bans the account, the firms can simply move to another rented account and start the process again. Speaking to Buzzfeed, John Amerrezvani, a security researcher at Novetta, said: “People who sign up for these programs are effectively ad-mules.” Mr Amerrezvani estimates that thousands of people have already signed up for these schemes - many of which offer users laptops or money. However, handing the reigns of your Facebook over to someone else is a ‘terrible idea’, according to Mr Amerrezvani. He explained: “They can easily install a backdoor or steal your personal files including but not limited to personal photos, electronic tax records, banking information, etc.” Facebook says it is aware of the schemes and is working to prevent them. Rob Leathern, Facebook product manager on the ads team, told BuzzFeed: “We’ve seen isolated examples of these kinds of account rental services and when we do, take action to find and terminate affected accounts. “Giving anyone else access to your Facebook account could not only compromise your information, but is a violation of our terms and could lead to your account being suspended.”

A very popular WordPress plugin was hacked over the weekend after a hacker defaced its website and sent a mass message to all its customers revealing the existence of supposed unpatched security holes. In a follow-up mass email, the plugin's developers blamed the hack on a former employee, who also defaced their website. The plugin in question is WPML (or WP MultiLingual), the most popular WordPress plugin for translating and serving WordPress sites in multiple languages. According to its website, WPML has over 600,000 paying customers and is one of the very few WordPress plugins that is so reputable that it doesn't need to advertise itself with a free version on the official WordPress.org plugins repository. But on Saturday, ET timezone, the plugin faced its first major security incident since its launch in 2007. The attacker, which the WPML team claims is a former employee, sent out a mass email to all the plugin's customers. In the email, the attacker claimed he was a security researcher who reported several vulnerabilities to the WPML team, which were ignored. The email[1, 2, 3, 4, 5] urged customers to check their sites for possible compromises. But the WPML team vehemently disputed these claims. Both on Twitter[1, 2] and in a follow-up mass email, the WPML team said the hacker is a former employee who left a backdoor on its official website and used it to gain access to its server and its customer database. WPML claims the hacker used the email addresses and customer names he took from the website's database to send the mass email, but he also used the backdoor to deface its website, leaving the email's text as a blog post on its site [archived version here]. Developers said the former employee didn't get access to financial information, as they don't store this kind of details, but they didn't rule that he could now log into customers' WPML.org accounts as a result of compromising the site's database. The company says it's now rebuilding its server from scratch to remove the backdoor and resetting all customer account passwords as a precaution. The WPML team also said the hacker didn't gain access to the source code of its official plugin and did not push a malicious version to customers' sites. The company and its management weren't available for additional questions regarding the incident. It is unclear if they reported the employee to authorities at the time of writing. If the company's claim is true, there is little chance of the former employee escaping jail time.

There are few things more alarming to a man than the news that his pen!s will undergo some gloomy changes as he ages. Be prepared men, your pen!s is going to change as you get older. There are some simple reasons for this, mostly though it’s all about testosterone. From the age of about 40 onwards the production of this hormone will slow and that drop is responsible for a load of changes to your one-eyed trouser snake. From less impressive erections through to shrinking balls it’s all a possible part of aging. Shrinkage is a reality As men age they will start to build up fatty deposits in the tiny arteries of the pen!s. These will reduce blood flow and that could result in smaller erections. Collagen replaces normal cells and makes the whole thing less elastic. Even your testicles may shrink. Like so much about your pen!s they are controlled by testosterone. As levels drop your sperm production reduces and your testicles may shrink as a result. Getting hormone replacement won’t help your balls either, because your body will stop sending signals to your testes to make testosterone and they’ll shrink further. Older men also report that their pen!s appears smaller, but apparently belly fat is responsible for this illusion. Stay trim to stay big. Reduced sensitivity As you age your pen!s will become less sensitive. This can cause problems becoming aroused or make it hard to have an orgasm. You might also find that your pen!s doesn’t get as hard when you get an erection, although this shouldn’t prevent you having sex. Colour and shape changes Sometimes it’s possible for men to injure their pen!s during sex or through general activity. This causes the tissue to scar giving your pen!s a curvature. The good news is that this problem can be treated with, of all things, botox. Blood flow will also affect the colour of your pen!s. The head can become less purple and lighten as you age. Perhaps some good news? If you’re no fan of pubic hair then you may be relieved to learn that it, like the hair on your head, may thin out. Of course like head hair there’s a big difference between losing it gracefully and trumping it up and pretending nothing is changing. Perhaps it’s time to go for that back, sack and crack wax lads? Worried about your pen!s? If you’re worried about changes to your pen!s you should always consult a doctor. STDs and other infections can be treated and may cause other, but similar, problems. Hiding from the reality of our changing members isn’t going to change anything, so keep an eye out for anything unusual and get expert advice. |
