Google rolled out “Messages for Web” support to all Android users earlier this week. That means you can now send text messages from any web browser, whether you’re at work or at home. Apple iPhone owners have long had support for iMessage on Mac, and this is sort of Google’s answer for Android users. It lets you start or continue a text message conversation from a computer, so you don’t have to keep reaching back for your phone. It’s a cinch to set up. Here’s how. First, download Android Messages for your Android phone. Some phones don’t have it installed already. Follow Google’s installation instructions, it should take just a couple of seconds. Next, navigate to https://messages.android.com from your computer’s web browser. You’ll see a screen on your computer that has a QR code and looks like this: [img][/img] -Open Android Messages on your phone. -Tap the menu button in the top-right corner. -Select “Messages for Web”: -Tap “Scan QR Code”: -Take your phone and point it at the QR code that appeared on your computer screen. It’ll detect it and launch a window like this: [img][/img] That’s it. Now you’ll see a screen that lets you start new text conversations with anyone in your phone book. You can send pictures, emoji, stickers and more. |
FunnyDude:I have an upwork account that i opened over 3yrs ago with Nigerian profile, though i haven't been using it lately. Is there any trick to get more jobs offered to me? coz i rarely get jobs offered to me. |
Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi said last night Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakin accepted that the ball struck the hand of Argentina’s defender Marcus Rojo in the 82nd minute, but refused to award a penalty. The penalty, if awarded and scored at a time the match was 1-1, could have wrapped up a second round ticket for the Eagles. Speaking at the post-match briefing in St Petersburg, Mikel said: “I asked the referee if he thought the ball struck Rojo’s hand and he said ‘yes;. The referee told me that the ball came off Rojo’s head before it hit his hand.” Mikel added:” I then asked Cakur why he didn’t award the penalty to Nigeria, he said: ‘ I don’t know.’ That was sad because we checked the match video in the dressing room and it was a clear penalty kick. “When the ball touches your hand in the penalty box, it’s a penalty. No two ways about that. Maybe he didn’t want to give us the second penalty. It is sad we had to exit the competition this way. The same referee was inconsistent. Twenty four hours earlier in the same circumstances, he gave a penalty to Iran against Portugal. Yesterday’s match ended 2-1 in favour of Argentina. Nigerians had looked forward hopefully that Eagles would get a draw to move to the second round. However, the Eagles failed to defend well in the crucial moments of the game. They were on the defensive most of the second half. Lionel Messi struck early before the Victor Moses equaliser in the 51st minute via a well taken penalty. Messi’s goal was fantastic. He collected a diagonal pass from Ever Banega with his thigh, dragging the ball into position before hitting it beyond the reach of Francis Uzoho. It could have been a brace for Messi, but 19-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper Uzoho pushed the Argentine’s terrific free kick off the far post. Wilfred Ndidi blazed a shot over the bar in the 71st minute as Nigeria looked to put an end to all doubt. Odion Ighalo also had two glorious chances to put Nigeria ahead but The China-based striker fluffed them to the dismay of Nigerians. Speaking about his future with the national team, Mikel said he would be most delighted to lead the boys going further into the future. I’m happy playing with this bunch of players. I expect them to grow into a great side and I think this team would make a good impression in the next four years. They are good boys with bright future,” he said.’Of course, we did everything we could; we pushed and pushed to get the goal but it was to be. “We want to thank all Nigerians for their support, and we have to keep going.”

Here's more about this news: http://www.fullgist.com.ng/2018/06/worldcup-mexicans-celebration-over.html |
Elated fans waved Mexican flags and donned traditional “sombrero” hats at the iconic Angel of Independence monument in downtown Mexico City as they sang the country’s unofficial soccer anthem, “Cielito Lindo,” or “Pretty Little Sky,” a popular folksong. In the city’s massive main square, families in Mexican football jerseys had watched on a giant screen in front of a towering cathedral as Mexico beat Germany 1-0 in Moscow. When star player Hirving Lozano scored a goal in the 35th minute, supporters jumped up and down, shouting, “Yes, we did it!” The Institute of Geological and Atmospheric Investigations said highly sensitive earthquake sensors registered tremors at two sites in the capital seven seconds after the game’s 35th minute. It called them an “artificial” quake. At the Angel of Independence monument after the match, Rodolfo Pulido, 47, led a chant of “Mexico! Mexico! Mexico!” perched on a concrete barrier that usually separates traffic on a busy thoroughfare. “I am incredibly happy,” said Pulido, with his girlfriend and son on a Father’s Day outing. “It’s a double gift: Mexico won and I get to celebrate with my son.” He also said he could now dream of Mexico reaching the next stage along with 15 other teams, getting a shot at reaching the quarter- and semi-finals before the final match. “El Tri,” as the team is called in homage to Mexico’s three-colour flag, has failed make it to the round of 16 in the last six World Cups. Presidential front-runner Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador offered his congratulations at a campaign event in Mexico state, telling supporters, “Just like the team won today, Mexico will keep winning.” Fans on social media celebrated goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa’s performance, circulating memes depicting him as president of Mexico. Others riffed on U.S. President Donald Trump’s pledge to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico, placing photos of Ochoa guarding the goal alongside the caption “Hey! We already have a wall.” Another popular meme depicted German Chancellor Angela Merkel holding a phone to her ear with the text: “Donald? It’s me Angela. Please build the wall.” Mexico will face South Korea in its next game on Saturday in Rostov-on-Dov, Russia.

READ MORE about this story here: http://www.fullgist.com.ng/2018/06/minister-of-education-proposes-extra.html |
The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, recently proposed that Nigerian university graduates may spend an extra year of studies in specialised institutions after graduation in the bid to make them employable. The minister, who made the proposal on May 8 at the two-day retreat for governing councils of federal universities organised by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja, explained that he made the suggestion based on the fact that many Nigerian university graduates were not good enough to be employed by industries. The retreat meant to address the challenges of the education sector was anchored on the theme: “Elements of Statutory Governance, Procurement and Financial Accounting in Nigerian Universities.” Prof. Anwuka also stressed that the proposal was similar to the extra year currently being undertaken by law and medical students. He further argued that if law students spend an extra year before going to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and medical students go for one year housemanship, it will be necessary for graduates of other courses to also pass through the same process. According to the minister, “the universities are producing products that are not matching the needs of the industries.” The minister was worried that the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) has failed in the universities. While the minister’s observation has underscored the crisis in the nation’s university education system, his proposal of an extra year for varsity graduates is not the solution. The fact that medical students and law students spend an extra year of studies does not make it necessary for history, philosophy and other liberal arts and science students to do the same. The minister’s solution is like attacking the symptoms of a disease rather than treating the disease itself. For a number of years, the standard of education in Nigeria is reported to be falling. The ugly state of our public primary and secondary schools epitomises the rot in the education sector. The growing education tourism to American and European universities by Nigerians shows that all is not well with our university education. The situation is so bad that Nigerian students now flood Ghana and other West African countries for secondary and university education. To worsen the situation, the government has not done much to improve the standard of education. Funding of education in recent times has been abysmally low. The nation’s tertiary education system has witnessed more industrial actions than any other sector in the country. The academic calendar is erratic and can no longer be predicted with students spending more years for a course than necessary. It is sad that research, the hallmark of any university education, has been relegated to the background. University teachers seldom have access to international journals and books. The situation of libraries and laboratories in most of our universities is nothing to write home about. We should accept the fact that the standard of education has fallen. The government should sit up and look at the causes of the rot. It is not the number of years spent in school that matters. Already, students in education, engineering and mass communication undertake internship training as part of their studies. Pharmacy students also go for one year internship after graduation. The practice can never apply to every discipline. The government should not use the additional year proposal to abdicate from its responsibility of providing jobs to varsity graduates. Government must step up its job creation schemes. Therefore, we urge the government to drop the idea of additional year of study for varsity graduates. Apart from its being unrealistic, it won’t serve any useful purpose. Let government fund the universities so well that they can produce world-class graduates that can fit the industries. Adding one year is not the answer to the problems facing the education sector. The proposal should be dropped forthwith. Government must adequately equip the libraries, laboratories in our varsities. There is need for exchange programmes between the nation’s universities and their overseas counterparts, especially in the area of manpower training.

READ MORE from here: FG Bans Shisha Smoking In Public, Police To Arrest Culprits http://www.fullgist.com.ng/2018/06/fg-bans-shisha-smoking-in-public-police.html |
The Nigerian government, on Monday, June 4, declared the banning of the use of flavoured tobacco, especially shisha, in public places, and directed security agencies to arrest anyone found inhaling the substance. While speaking at the 2018 World No Tobacco Day celebration, Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Monday in Abuja, said the Federal Government has banned the use of flavoured tobacco, especially Shisha, in public places, and directed security agencies to arrest anyone found inhaling the substance. According to New Telegraph, the minister who spoke during the event with the theme, ‘Tobacco Breaks the Heart Choose Health, Not Tobacco’, explained that evidence has shown that for every $1 gain from tobacco business about $3 was expended on healthcare cost. Worried over the increasing rate of tobacco-related deaths in the country and the world in general, a work plan was developed and launched by the minister on the National Tobacco Control (NTC) Act, which could be implemented by stakeholders before the approval of the NTC Regulations, to curb the use of tobacco products in the country. “The work plan outlines education, enforcement and monitoring for compliance including the ban on sale of tobacco products to and by anyone below 18 years of age; ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship of any kind; ban on smoking in public places; and ban on sale of tobacco products in piecemeal quantity but in packs of 20 sticks for cigarettes or 30g for smokeless tobacco. “The FMOH is also looking beyond the work plan as we are developing a comprehensive 5-year National Tobacco Control Strategic Plan that will provide the roadmap for complete tobacco control. In addition to this, the FMOH participated actively in the review of the Nigeria Industrial Standard for tobacco products convened by Standards Organisation of Nigeria in collaboration with Consumer Protection Council (CPC). “A key outcome of this review was the ban on all characterizing flavours including the addition of menthol into tobacco products. This decision is to protect our children from getting enticed by flavoured tobacco products. Let me stress that the ban on tobacco products with characterizing flavours is still in place and the ban includes shisha because it has flavour. I therefore urge the CPC and the law enforcement agencies to intensify arrest of defaulters,”he said. According to him, there were more than 1 billion smokers globally and more than 7 million people were killed annually by tobacco. Of this figure, he said more than 6 million die from direct tobacco use, and close to 900,000 die from exposure to second-hand smoke. “Data from 2014 WHO – NCD Global Status Report showed that heart related diseases, cancers, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease killed 38 million (68%) persons out of the 56 million global deaths recorded in 2012, and sadly, more than 40% of these deaths occurred before the age of 70 years. It is generally agreed that tobacco will kill more than 50% of its users when used exactly as recommended by its manufacturers. “Globally there are more than 1 billion smokers, and more than 7 million people are killed by tobacco annually. Of this, more than 6 million die from direct tobacco use, and close to 900,000 from exposure to second-hand smoke. I must add that the low and middle income countries including Nigeria bear nearly 80% of the global burden. “This indeed calls for increased awareness on the impact of tobacco use and exposure to second-hand tobacconpro on cardiovascular health,” he added. Adewole who exposed plans of tobacco producing companies to hide under the guise of non-governmental organisations on a Smoke-Free World to partner with thee public to further project their businesses, advised Nigerians to be careful in entering into partnerships they weren’t sure of. “May I inform you that we are not oblivious of the conscious efforts by the tobacco industry to project their business above the health of the public. In view of this we are duty-bound to protect Government Laws, Regulations and Policies from commercial and other vested interests of the tobacco industry in accordance with the WHO FCTC Article 5.3 and the NTC Act 2015. Recently, Philip Morris International (PMI) under the guise of the ‘Foundation for a Smoke-Free World’ is persuading the public to partner with the Foundation. “May I caution in strong terms that all Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Academia, Professional bodies, Non-Governmental Organizations and members of the public not to accept support from or enter into partnership agreement with this Foundation or any tobacco industry or their front groups as this might lead to irreconcilable conflict of interest. If the tobacco industry means well they must stop manufacturing tobacco products,” he added.

Lalasticlala do you believe d NFF or NIKE ![]() |
American-based sportswear manufacturers, Nike, has dismissed claims by Nigeria Football Federation higher-ups that it has received up to three million pre-orders for Super Eagles World Cup jerseys. As each jersey costs 85 dollars, it means Nike would have made a revenue of US$255 million (approximately N91.8 billion) from the sale of the jerseys if the information from the NFF was correct. Nike has also disagreed with the Nigerian Federation, who had officially stated that the release of the jerseys into the global market would happen on Tuesday, May 29, after clarifying that the jerseys will be available in June. Nike tweeted : ''The jersey has not been released yet, it is scheduled to be available in June. Also, there has not been an option to pre-order the jersey. Stay tuned to our site for updates.'' The Nigerian national team Nike collection features a travel suit, anthem jacket, training apparel, pre-game jersey, bucket hat, and kits. Nigeria's World Cup rivals Argentina, Croatia and Iceland are kitted by Adidas, Nike and Erreà respectively.

Meghan Markle is about to become a Royal and as she is about to become one with the Royal family, there are a few things she is now unable to do. As part of the Royal family, Markle now has to conform to some of the rules that come with being a royal. No More Selfies Markle will no longer be allowed to take selfies. Meghan has already been prohibited from doing them, and told a couple in Nottingham “we’re not allowed to do selfies” No More Outings Alone The new Duchess of Sussex will no longer be allowed to go out unescorted as this is against Royal etiquette. Meghan may have been used to it before, but she will no longer be able to. Social media The former Hollywood actress can no longer operate her social media accounts. Vote Meghan is going to become a British citizen as she is applying for citizenship, but while she’ll be allowed to have all the rights of a British citizen, she will not be allowed to vote. According to the parliament website: “Although not prohibited by law, it is considered unconstitutional for the Monarch to vote in an election.”. It is said that this is for the benefit of the queen, but that the whole Royal Family also abides by this. Wearing dark nail varnish The new royal can no longer wear dark nail varnish. Coloured nail varnish and fake nails are not part of the royal etiquette, and are typically considered to be “vulgar”. Hence, the new royal will no longer be allowed to wear this. Sign Autographs The last person to have gotten an autograph from Meghan Markle is lucky indeed as she will no longer be able to sign autographs. Royals are prohibited from scribbling their signatures for other people or on body parts. They are allowed to sign on official documents and other sorts of documents. Go to bed before the Queen It is custom for the Queen to go to bed before everyone and she determines when the night is over. This only applies when they are under the same roof.
