Olalan:This is by way the most sensible comment I've read so far. No one wakes up and decides to end it all just like that. It's a gradual process. The people around them apparently didn't pay attention. |
Professor Awojobi, a man of exceptional brilliance. He was also politically active. He gave the government of his day a hard time. He was once bundled off the pulpit when he was addressing the congregation in church. If we had ten of such men right now, these politicians will pee in their panties daily. |
Oshisco lodun tuntun. That's how people behave when success comes on a platter of gold. |
Have no regrets bro. A girl like that is a speeding trouble truck. A girl comes to your house for the first time and ASKS for sex, mehn. There's more to it than meets the eye o. Abeg take a cup of coffee n chillax jere. |
Thanks First Counsel. I'll do exactly that. I felt so belittled that I just couldn't let this pass without doing something. The ultimate is to make sure these people become aware that they can't act with impunity. Thanks once again. |
On the 29th of September at the close of work, I went to see a good friend who has a tutorial centre around a place called Ibefun street in Alapere,Ketu. We strolled to the bus stop ( Ibefun bus stop)where each would go his own way. My friend met a female friend and while both of them were talking, I spotted a police van and another car both filled with gun totting policemen. I shifted backward and began to call on my friend that it was time to leave. I did this because every now and again, one hears atrocities committed by these men. Well, they arrested my friend and I and took us to their station. We barely had time to call somebody then they threw us in a cell! This happened on around 10pm and we remained behind bars till 5pm the next day when Soldiers and a lawyer came to our rescue. The DPO who led the operation alleged that we were armed robbers. He claimed we broke his phone and pushed him inside a gutter. The next day when one my friends who was livid with rage told the DPO that he had jailed innocent guys who are gainfully employed,he retorted: ' I don't care!' Fellow Nairalanders, I want justice and I need your honest and candid opinions as to how I can go about this issue. I can't afford the exhorbitant fees of lawyers and the one who came to our aid is our pastor. Mature contributions, please. |
Sai Buhariiii!!! And I typed that dancing skelewu. |
This professor was kidnapped some 8years ago! I remember reading that in Tell. Well, I just checked with a friend who's working on a Master's in that dept. The prof,he says, has been kidnapped again. The second time in less than 10years. Tooh. Happy 'kidnapping!' |
No Time like the Present by the South African Nobel Laureate,Nadine Gordimer. On pg 63. |

1. Dr.Tai Solarin 2. Prof. Chinua Achebe 3.Pastor E.A Adeboye 4.Prof. Wole Soyinka 5. Fela Anikulapo-Kuti |
You see, just what Achebe meant when he said those whose teeth are cut for them by benevolent spirits should not forget to be humble. Those statements smack of idiotic arrogance! |
Tu baba anyday...1 love mehn. |
This is looong overdue. |
But the girl hot sha...#na waka I dey waka pass o# |
asala1: I love the concluding part "We have to build a nation, whether we like it or not. Some people still believe they can secede. I think it is fantasy. Well, good luck to them."#smiles#...and he seemed to have played on the word goodluck- Oga Jona to them. |
Special thanks to my mother, who though uneducated, spanked me relentlessly and forced me to read in spite of my crocodile tears. Special thanks to my primary 2 class teacher Mrs. Akinkuotu and later Mrs. Bello. Mrs Akintola,my Business Studies teacher in Junior school praised me to the high heavens. Miss Ebohon my English teacher believed in me to the point of insanity and a huge crush on my Maths teacher,Miss Ogunsowobo.Maybe that's why my Maths' so abysmal. My university teachers are super special. Dr.Adedayo Adedun took a special interest in me.Prof. Eruvbetine pushed me hard and taught m generousity. It's a long list really. To all these people,I saw a vewi biiiig thank u. May you all find your dreams. |
Funny post.When you're nearing 35,'terms and conditions' won't apply anymore.Then it'll be free for all. |
We have been told time and again that man's the master of his fate.Is this really true?Anyone vaguely familiar with the exploits of the Olympians(in Greek myth)knows without a doubt that man is merely a plaything of the gods. This view again is supported in Soyinka's ground-breaking A Dance of the Forest. To what extent can we agree that man has little control over what happens to him? Man has no control over the family into which he's born. He cannot help it whether his parents are rich or poor. We know it's defeatist to absolve man of blame but the odds against him seem staggering. So without letting your emotions becould your judgement, would you kindly contribute meaningfully and logically. Thanks all. |

Odunnu: Did that dude just say UNILAG is the first federal UniversityYes ooo...by all means. It's the first UNIVERSITY established by an act of parliamment and it takes only the national assembly to ratify it! |
She may have said that out of anger, she's still on point! It would only follow, however, logically that since her father was a poliitician,he was also a B.....ard before his death. |
I finished from the University of Lagos and had a near similar experience.I flunked a GST course(214).My exams officer called me after I had failed the paper again in final year and wondered whether I had chosen not to graduate.Fortunately, the school organised a make up exams for graduating students and God saved my arse! My CGPA was above 4. too.so,you see, shit happens. She should prepare to write it again.God'll support her. |
Gaggi: My family is pretty much reserved. It's actually d immediate family, her pops, moms and siblings dat shld knw d details of d relationship. Her parents are well to do and so finance for d wedding wasn't an issue. Even we d cousins contributed. Raising mny for wedding isn't really a big deal. It seems like d guys family is also comfy. I want to believe dat he is just a black sheep. I dnt really knw much abt d guy's end. Gaggi: My family is pretty much reserved.
