LemuelIrabor:
***

A nudge in the guts from my impossible seatmate and pal, the irrepressible Joseph Etuk was all it took to bring me back to base. And damn, it hurt.
“What, is this Frustrate-Martin-Till-He-Does-Something-He’ll-Regret day now?”, I spat angrily as I faced him.
Joe had been laughing at something he’d read in a piece of paper in his hand, but with the unrefined manner in which I reacted, his lips became taut with apprehension.
“Is anything the matter, Martin?”
I could tell Joe was mad at me, or at least so confused that he didn’t use his usual choice of words, preferring to call me directly by my given name. Who wouldn’t be?
I didn’t answer Joe’s question right away. I turned towards the front where Miss Alabi was answering the questions she’d written on the board as a classwork exercise. Why she even tried, I wondered.
Perhaps she..
“Martin, buddy, answer me,” Joe said as he shook my sleeve. His tone had changed from one of indignation to one of concern.
I shook my head pitifully. I was ruining my friendship with my present attittude.
“You won’t understand, man.”
“Try me.”
Joe refused to back off so easily. Maybe he thought he was finally getting somewhere.
I was just about to throw another temper tantrum at him, when the bell rang for a change of classes. As if on cue, everyone proceeded to dump their English texts and notes in their bag packs and slowly file out enroute the Physics laboratory. Miss Alabi was no where to be found. Apparently, she too had been waiting for the toll of the bell to take-off.
Joe grabbed my arm as I tried to join the line ahead in a bid to escape any more uncomfortable questionss from him.
Why is everyone stopping me in my tracks these days?
“Tell me, after Physics class. We good?”
OK, now Joe was beginning to sound like my father.
And before I could say another word, he disappeared into the exodus of final year students, moving to the Physics lab.
Oh, crap! Can this day just end already?

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN
I had to quote, forgot how to mention. I just reread the whole thing this night and I must say, I regret being a silent reader.

Heard the story is an ebook I would love to get a copy. I badly want to know what's up with the characters.

PS: I ship Marty and Tessy.

Love your choice of words funny puns, character and world building, it's more like you bring what you are to the world and let them see the you, you are.

This is awesome believe me, anyone who thinks otherwise can visit the place of damnation and stay there.

Honestly, this was one of the most beautiful stories I've read so far. it's been years since any sign of progress.

it's so sad that it's abandoned, I feel really sad. most times I reread it, to feel the thrill I felt the first time.

it's heartbreaking to see it come to an end like this. I know you're busy and all, everyone is aiming for something. Just so you know, I was touched by this awesome story and would love to read the whole thing.

More grease to your elbow bruv.

Chapter 4: My First Kiss: Part 1

I had my first kiss when I was 21 years old, during a party at the end first semester, year two. It was with a girl from my past called Dumebi. Dumedi and I had attended the same tutorial centre while preparing for Jamb a few years before I got into the university of Lagos. Actually she wasn’t really my friend at the time, her half sister was.

Dumebi was shy light skinned beauty that sat quietly at the front row of the class, and left as soon as the last class was over. Her half-sister, Ejiro on the other hand was an extrovert that was friendly with all the boys. Ejiro had a friend called Grace my friend Fola was crushing on back then, and Fola and I would always walk them home after classes. Even though I had my eye on Dumebi, I was always mostly with Ejiro to help my friend get some alone time with Grace, so I never really got a chance to talk to Dumebi.

Along the line, we found out Ejiro and Dumebi had an elder sister that was in the same university with my elder sister. Not only were they in the same school, they were best friends. We then started visiting Ejiro at home with the pretense of delivering messages from her sister without their parents thinking otherwise. And Grace’s parents were strict, but she was always allowed to visit her friend, Ejiro. They never knew the real persons she always went there to see was my friend, Fola- It was a well executed plan for a bunch of 16 year olds.

We started getting into school one an after the other, as time went on and the whole friendship fizzled away. One weekend during my visit home in my year 2, I drove my sister to the market and on our way back home, she said she wanted to make a quick stop at her friend’s house. She gave me directions, and I didn’t know where we were going to till we ended up at Dumebi’s house.

I turned off the car engine, and waited while my sister went into the house. She had told me she would be real quick, so I thought there was no use going in with her. Some seconds after she went in, the house gate swung open and I saw Dumebi step out. She looked here and there till she saw the red Benz and a big smile appeared on her face. Dumebi had blossomed like a flower. The blue tank top she had on clung to her busty upper body, and the white shots she was wearing exposed thick, fresh yellow laps. She was like a totally different person.

I was frozen in my seat just looking at her as she approached the car. She opened the front passenger door enthusiastically and got in with me. “Wow! Kunle, I can’t believe it. It’s been ages.” She said, so happy to see me.

“Yea, it’s really been a while. Wow!” I said, looking at her from top to bottom, still not believing how much she had changed; both physically and in her mannerisms.

She giggled a little at the way I starred at her and nudged me before saying, “Why didn’t you come in?”

“I thought…I thought you would be in school or something.” I said and cleared my throat.

“Well, I am in Law School now; Victoria Island law school. I just came home to get some things.”

“Oh! Okay.” I said as my mind travelled. I couldn’t believe she was already in law school.

“How is Lag? I know you have a lot of girlfriends right now.” She said and laughed lightly. I didn’t say anything back, and she went on to say, “Tony always tells me he sees you every now and then.”

“Yea. Our faculties aren’t too far apart.” I answered. Tony was her elder brother, but was also my friend from the neighbourhood. I was lost in thought for a second, thinking of what she had said about being in law school. It meant she had spent at least five years in the higher institution, and I was just on my second year.

I turned to look at her and I saw her staring at me, smiling so strangely. I thought she would look away but she kept the gaze, till I looked away. She laughed a little before saying, “It’s really funny.”

“What? What’s really funny?” I asked her with a curious look on my face.

“Nothing. Don’t worry.” She said and looked out the window.

“No way, you have to tell me.”

She was quiet for a few seconds before going on to say, “It’s funny that I used to have a huge crush for you back in the day.”

“Are you serious?” I said and looked at her intensely. “You had a crush for me? What about now?” I asked with a smile on my face.

“The crush has turned to Fanta.” She said and laughed.

I joined her in laughing after I got the joke. I almost didn’t catch her play on words. The car got quiet after we stopped laughing, and I asked her, “So I’m not fine again?”

“I didn’t say that o. I just said the crush has turned to Fanta.” She said and laughed a little again. Just then, my sister came out of the house with her sister. “Okay. I got to go now. I was actually cooking inside.” She said and tapped my shoulder before opening the car door. She was about to step out of the car when I grabbed her arm. “Wait. Let me have your phone number.” I had gotten a Nokia 1100 at the time, and I pulled the slim phone out of my jeans pocket and handed it over to her. After typing in her number and handing me back the phone, she leaned in slowly and for a second, I thought she was going to kiss me on the cheek. But she whispered in my ear “you’re still handsome” before getting out of the car.

I watched her walk away as I felt butterflies in my stomach. She stopped to greet my sister briefly and then turned around by her house gate to give me one last smile before she went out of sight.
My oga is back

Hello guys...I'm back; after just a week of retirement. lol. I guess I'm a WRITER...and a writer must write. Anyway, I was going to really take a break, but over the weekend, I met up with a girl I met here (Literature section), and while having drinks and Asun, I asked her to tell me a story. I do that a lot when I meet people in real life. Everyone has a story to tell, and truth is stranger than fiction. Anyway, after hesitating for a while, she started with a love story of when she was in school. Her whole stories all revolved around this one guy...a reserved guy that seemed to be loved by everyone. When i got home that night, the idea for this story was formed. So, thanks to that girl...she knows who she is. Also, thanks to olufemiwhit who urged me to be persistent with my writing here.

Unlike my other stories, which are written in third person narrative, this is written in first person point of view. It is a little different from my normal style, but it is still romance. I just wanted to be a bit versatile with this one. And this story is going to be a lot longer than my other works. I hope you enjoy it.
Finally... At least I never waited in vain
