EasternLeopard: Ok, hear yourself on the bolded words. If Ikwere votes to reject Biafra we then take the ones that voted for Biafra and settle them somewhere northwards inside Biafra. I thought that majority vote carries the day? A NO vote ends it; they stay in naija. QED. Look, maybe to qualify my position more, I believe in FREE WILL of people, which means that we shouldn't cede them BEFORE a valid referendum is held, as if shedding a dead weight or liability. Ikwerre should get an opportunity via a referendum to choose. If MAJORITY of them reject Biafra, then they stay in Nigeria. No force whatsoever, but NONE will be resettled in Biafra because it doesn't work that way. But we mustn't cede our land before anyone SERIOUSLY contested it. Ceding it apriori is tantamount to irresponsibility and weakness. 4 Likes |

pazienza: Bros, you know I don't joke with your positions on issues. In fact you are one of the brightest Igbo brains here in Nairaland "foreign visa" or not. Here,s the way we should view this: We have a history that show that our enemies can NEVER be pleased by our concessions. You yourself alluded to that fact earlier in this thread. We must not cede an inch of Igboland to anybody. I personally don't think that Biafra will come overnight. I think it will come years down the line (I don't know when). We must not hurriedly dig the yam else we may have to sit down later to dig up the broken tail. 1 Like |

Some of my brother here have never contested for landed property before, obviously. haha. How can you EVEN THINK of ceding what history says that you own? If you cede what history says that you own, why would your opponent allow you to own anything? Once you show that thoughtless concession, you lose respect and your opponent sees you as ready meat for taking. Nna did anybody actually think this proposal through at all? Nigeria is bad o, but I don't think it is bad enough for me to sell my father's lands including the "ime obi" land. Concession on land is a slippery slope; concede one, you concede all! Honestly I respect Yoruba on this type of thing. Yoruba took effective charge of Lagos (whether Awori and Egun) claim Yoruba or not. I sometimes don't understand Igbo kind of weak thinking. Anyway, let me assume that the proposal will never see the light of day. 8 Likes |

I didn't read the whole thing but I read enough. So here's my position. WE ARE NOT CEDING ANY INCH OF IGBO LAND TO ANYBODY. EOD. If we must cede Igweocha to whoever hates Biafra, then we may as well stay in Nigeria forever because it means we are not ready to do what is necessary to free ourselves from slavery. WTF ? So, we cede Igweocha, then what? Do you think they will stop there? Hahahahahaha! They will claim ALL Igbo lands in Rivers, and then they move to Ngwaland in Abia. And you better believe that we can't get any Igbo land in Cross river because we have shown that we don't value our lands. From Ngwaland, they send their probosis into Anioma. By the time they finish with us, the entire Igboland will be in patches, unconnected whatsoever with each other. My people, leave this matter to seasoned strategists. This should not be discussed by every Tom D.cik and Harry. Though Nnamdi Kanu has his faults, but he by far has the right mind and understanding to handle this issue. So far he has not failed yet. Asking that we cede Igweocha is irresponsible. 4 Likes |

When will Gowon apologise for an unnecessary war that killed 3 million people for nothing? The war was totally unnecessary because Gowon could have simply implemented Aburi. He failed and instead started the war. Fastforward 45 years after, Biafra is issue still very much around. So why did Gowon launch that war? 52 Likes 4 Shares |

nwanlecha: Eziokwu Chineke. And Biafra we must have with or without non-Igbo easterners. ezeagu wants a strictly Igbo only country but Biafra is a spirit in the east and welcomes all true believers in that spirit irrespective of tribe. the aniomas in delta state bought into that spirit when their sons and daughters fought and died for Biafra. Igbo and non-Igbo died for Biafra in 1967-70. It would be unconscionable and irresponsible not to at least extend an invitation to everyone in the east before we shut the "Noah's ark" that is Biafra. And yes the name remains BIAFRA. |

tpiah11: First, they will be forcefully converted to Islam. Note that Igbo have been the only major Christian population in Nigeria, and the east. The Igbo shields the east against forceful Islamization as is happening now in the middle belt. Once Islamized, they become like northern minorities, at the killing whims and caprices of the Fulani overlords. Cattle will finish off the rest of the farmlands left after oil pollution. Soon there will be an Emir of each of those minority clans, and they can do nothing about it. Stay in Nigeria will be pure HELL for any eastern minority. Biafra is all about equality, and Christian type of freedom. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Biafra will be totally different from Nigeria. I read today that the IMF is pressing Nigeria to devalue the Naira. The main reason IMF gave is that 90% of Nigeria's foreign exchange comes from oil exports. While watching a show concerning South Korea, one Korean said that Korea is constantly working and producing products because his country has no natural resource. For a country without natural resource to have 3 times Nigeria's GDP with only about a third of Nigeria's population speaks volumes about how flat footed Nigeria is. Biafra, the only hope for African humanity. 2 Likes |

After lamenting, the rational thing to do is to seek a lasting solution. My recommendation would be that all vigilantes in Igbo land and eastern nigeria should band together into one security force that roots these vandals out of our lands for good. Our people do not constitute a menace to the Fulani in Northern Nigeria. We must not allow their menace in Eastern Nigeria. How hard would it be for all the vigilantes in the east to band together and seek good arms? Your enemy is not sleeping. Soon they will be collecting taxes in cash and in kind (your wives). Any Igbo supporter of the system that allows this is cursed. |

oluwaSmith1: I just highlighted in bold letters above why no sane Igbo or easterner can believe in one Nigeria. Just read the import. These guys are BETTER ARMED THAN LOCAL VIGILANTE. And law enforcement is blind to their evil machinations. ... meanwhile the local politician still wants peoples' only recourse to be to report to the same law enforcement agencies that are probably arming these Fulanis. The most idiot Igbo is one that works for one Nigeria. The person's mother and sister must be raped by these animals. And their brothers and fathers must be killed by these vandals. Death penalty will not exist in Biafra. Anyone who has actually THOUGHT about it will come to the same conclusion that it does not stop murder. In fact, it inures societal conscience and makes the society more violent. But the most important reason I (and our ancestors) don't support death penalty is because the human being is not qualified to manage a type of a punishment which fall under the direct sovereign prerogative of THE MOST HIGH. Destroying a human being "legally" is tantamount to destroying the temple of the MOST HIGH legally. War is a different kettle of fish because it is a type of temporary madness by humans. Yes we plan for even that madness when some enemy forces us into it. That is why our defence policy is principally DEFENSIVE in nature. Legally scheduling a date for the taking of an unarmed human life is somewhat odd. Insanity argument of war cannot stand there. So, we do away with it in Biafra. 1 Like |

BlackTechnology: But bros I never said that the standing force would be enough to win ALL wars. I said that it should be enough to at least hold the forte while Biafra mobilizes the rest of the reserve force. Honestly Israel does it very successfully. I doubt that we have worse enemies than Israel; by worse I mean nations with ANCIENT hate and bile. Most Africans are frightened to death of a well armed foe. They won't dare try us. That is why a handful of about 5000 whites colonized hundreds of millions of Africans. 1 Like |

xyzhill: More like the nearest military manned weapon site. The thought of having heavy arms even under the control of police is frightening. There have been incidents of police coups in some countries before. Israel already does what I propose. For a country with a history of wars and invasions by bitter neighbors, Israel does an excellent job of keeping guns away from ordinary citizens. With the exception of the "settlers", the rest of Israeli society is barely armed; yet the country relies on a reserve force of all citizens of fighting age. The argument that guns must be in the hands of citizens to defend against invasion and coups if a false argument. We can have civil society as well as strong defence. |

BlackTechnology: Touche for bolded words... but then that is exactly why we shouldn't introduce a gun culture. There is a very important point that AAinEqGuinea made, and it is that we cannot simply assume that our neighbors will invade us. Nobody wants to invade a country with well trained military. I was watching a documentary on Youtube that stated that Israel trains her pilots for many many more years than any Arab country, and their thinking is quite simple -better training makes better soldiers. Hence one Israeli pilot flying the same plane can down 10 of Arab ones. There is relative peace among countries of the world today, and the reason is that almost every country has a relatively better trained military than in the 40s or 60s. No matter how greedy an invader may be, the invader risks death if invading a country with a well trained and well equipped military. A lot of countries will love to invade and overrun Israel, but they are not doing so for a reason. To me, the peace and serenity that will fuel our innovation will be defeated if we can't move around FREELY, ANY TIME, ANYWHERE in Biafra. A scientist might be in his/her lab for days and work many odd hours. Kanu said that we will build Biafra DAY AND NIGHT for 70 years, LOL. A bitter enemy armed with a handgun can waylay someone in the night. We are peaceful, but we are also human beings. 1 Like |

BlackTechnology: The US is a very well designed country with real political empowerment at local levels. That is what the founding fathers intended. The arms are for self defence. But let me ask you a question: Why has such public armed uprising NEVER happened in the US? Do you think people haven't been ever pissed off enough to try? If you are pissed of, you go to your Mayor! |
Politics / Re: Biafra Will Be Totally Different From Nigeria. Here's How! by carnegiefan: 5:54pm On Oct 14, 2015 |
BlackTechnology: As far as I know, Japan ALREADY has enough arms to defend herself against any invading foe. Yes, you are right that US protection is helping, but Japan can also defend herself. Actually bros, if Biafra develops the type of weapons she needs, NOBODY will invade her. Efficient and better armed militaries always win over poorly trained and not so well armed ones. Israel did it against massive Egyptian and Syrian militaries in the past. Single Israeli fighter pilots were downing tens of Egyptian and Syrian jets. Even in Biafra, with lesser arms, Biafra killed 2 Nigerian soldiers for every Biafran loss. War is fought with BRAINS mainly. Throw in weapons, we can stop any invader. We must not destroy our civilian serenity and peace from fear of invaders, else the invaders won't need to invade to derail our visions. |
Politics / Re: Biafra Will Be Totally Different From Nigeria. Here's How! by carnegiefan: 5:42pm On Oct 14, 2015 |
BlackTechnology: My brother the only reason why there has not been any coups in the US is that the system is strictly bottom-up designed, not top-down. People have real political power at the local levels, hence, power hungry people move from one political power base to another very easily. I've seen one individual be a city mayor after serving as state governor for two term. Same guy is back again as state governor and may do two terms again. No group or persons in the US has more arms than the United states military; and I'm being very conservative in this assertion. The peoples arms are mainly for killing other people -fellow citizens. 1 Like |

Curlieweed: My brother there is really no need for "the government to be afraid of the people"; our system won't allow anyone to sit too comfortably to start scheming evil. Japan remains my gold standard here. In Japan, the type of civility there is almost heavenly. The violent crime there is consistently among the least in the whole world, and the main reason is that people are not armed. Their politicians are changed like weather, so they don't have time to seek ways of becoming god. Even the just announced plans for a little tinker to their self imposed pacifism is getting fierce knocks from their own people. They've seen that horse before! Japan is surrounded by very bitter and powerful enemies: China to the west, Russia to the North, North Korea to the north west, even SE asians hate Japan with bitterness. US protection apart, Japan can still defend herself. We should be able to create a political system (as I highlighted in the first page) that only attract the right people, and even if the wrong person gets there, s/she will be stopped by the political system in place. And yes, like Japan, our would -be invaders won't dare. |

cheruv: Your ideas are hereby presented to the general house! For the record brother, the stated idea has been that Biafra will be structured into "clan" administrative areas (LGAs if you like), so the fear of being totally emasculated politically shouldn't materialize. But we must take deliberate steps to de-emphasize our differences and encourage "sameness and oneness" in Biafra. Division is always a primordial but dangerous slippery slope. Once we overemphasize the differences of the clans by discouraging persons not born there from contesting elections, then, it means that we have recreated Nigeria in Biafra. Next people would start noticing that they are not from the same "umunna"; then they next notice that they are not from same bloodline; then they notice that they are not from same mother! The principal reason behind Nigeria's political (and hence national) failure is the division embedded in the Nigerian system; the division that denied Zik the leadership of the western region; the same that Ahmadu Bello used against non-Northerners particularly Igbo people. Clans can accept new members irrespective of origin; what matters is that the person cares enough for that clan. A Ngwa person can be welcomed into the Nnewi clan provided that Nnewi people know him as a local person that helps to better their lives. Remember that Jaja of Opobo was so adopted and made a king. 1 Like |

BlackTechnology: You are mixing things up, quite frankly. The Swiss are far less populated than Biafra. The entire Biafran military reserve force will almost equal the total population of Switzerland, about 8 million. Biafran standing force (the ready to go force) should be small say 50,000 -100,000 highly trained, heavily armed force. That force, my friend, will be so well trained and so well equipped that it can stop an invading force ten times its size. The job of keeping Biafra free will first fall on the shoulders of the military, and then the reserve force. Ordinary citizens have no business carrying firearms around. Beat cops should work in packs to arrest errant citizens and diffuse potential incendiary situations. If we want true peace and security, we should keep guns away from our civil life, and work hard to build families up, provide social safe nets, and reform criminals. 2 Likes |
