Good morning everybody and happy Sunday.

So, I'm thinking.

Since this Covid-19 pandemic started in December last year, infection and mortality rates in the 0 - 20 years population segment is less than 0.5% (my assumption, based on reporting in the US, UK, Spain, France, China); maybe 0% sef smiley.

Is there something science can learn from this population segment? For example, do this population segment have the so-called "herd immunity?"

Can someone shed light on this? @Carshopper, @radautoworks, @bigleaf1006, @sexylassie, @dru23, @Izzou and my other bosses.
Since we still learning about corona virus and its mode of lifestyle, researchers are still trying to understand its love for the elderly and mid-range ages....

It reported that 0.04% of 10-19 year olds would probably require hospital care—as would 1.0% of people in their 20s, 3.4% of people aged 30-39, 4.3% aged 40-49, 8.2% aged 50-59, 11.8% in their 60s, 16.6% in their 70s, and 18.4% of those over 80.

According to researchers, if the age-dependency of COVID-19 disease was specifically due to immune function, we would expect babies to also show severe disease, as their immune systems are still developing. This is what is seen in most seasonal flu epidemics, where those under two and those over 65 are at a greater risk of severe disease.

In contrast to the flu, the 2003 Sars epidemic showed a fatality rate that increased with age similar to COVID-19 (4.26% for those under 44, rising to 64.2% for those over 74) and a 1.66 times greater fatality rate in men compared with women. The absence of severe infection in babies suggests that the age and gender disparity for COVID-19 may not be due to differences in immune response but rather something specific to the Sars viruses. Culled from an online publication....

I want to believe there is a distinctive separation in gene adaptation between age disparity when you look at population segmentation. The virus (which I believe is man-made) is been adapted to attack a particular configuration (weak vs the strong) maybe a population control tool huh ...

I have been wondering, if a certain age bracket is at risk or if a certain population segment should be test subject cuz they show a very low virus infection.

Remember, davido said chioma tested positive but baby is negative (she is a breastfeeding mother)

Brb ...still researching smiley

but is lockdown and social distancing not different?

you can lockdown a city and not implement social distancing
Experts say it's one of the control or steps or measures of Social distancing when speaking in respect to a pandemic

Several social distancing measures include isolation, quarantine, cancellation of mass gatherings...

at this moment since our universities both private and public cant find a vaccines against the virus, we have to practice what other countries did and that is lock down and social distancing.

We dont have the resources against mass infection, if everyone is infected, where is the hospitals that will treat them. sincerely speaking it will be a bad thing if people began to die up and down, even WHO will blame Nigeria for not protecting her citizens.

We are not china, Italy or USA, we do not have the resources like that but we can do what they did to stop the spread and that is enforcing social distancing and making sure people stay in their houses and only come out for essential purchase till a drop in cases happens

Money is good but also health is important
Lockdown is a sub of Social Distancing grin... not to worry sha, as @radautoworks we shall separate those for continued lockdown and those against it ...put them in different state

Control of spread in public space. Seems you underestimate how potent covid 19 is.

In South Korea, d index case spread it to church members, from there, it took anoda turn.

Rite now Kano testing/ isolation centre has been shut down temporarily, reason some of the staff were testing positive. A lot of committee members sef panicked n abandon deir duty posts.

Sure, LASG will relax d clampdown on Monday.
But afterwards, we are in the hands of God.,cos no measure in Lagos will slow down infection rates.
People will die whether they relax or not ...

Kano situation is one caused by themselves - many there will become statistics (can not be avoided)

Potency is in the mode of transmission ... till it gets into your system, you dont have it

If you like when you leave ur house dont use a facemask or stick to good hygiene

Try as much as possible to educate your environs on the need for all covid19 protocols .. limit the spread within your community

Note your community may just be the neighbors in a 5block radius that you interact with daily ....

Covid19 isnt a death sentence ... shebi Lagos state says they have discharged a few grin....

Let's spread be over a long term ...remember it may take 1-2years b4 d virus is controlled

Personally I give out face masks to my immediate surroundings... if I can keep that surrounding free, educated and enlighten it goes a long way to control spread within community which is the phase we are in

If LASG relaxes clamp down.

The three units you mentioned will NEVER work.

Lagos markets, have you been to Ebute Ero / Isaale Eko before, it's a madhouse, no social distancing will work there cos from inception, it's overcrowded.

Nurtw grin I laff, the only control d chairman has over members is REVENUE collection, it's free for all in the union. No yellow danfo will carry 3 people on a row when passenger yapa for ground.

What about the rickshaws? N d mini buses( Korope) Cos that one body contact dey dey wella

Facemasks. Lagos has a population of 20m people, let's say 50% will go out..

As it stands, can we boast of 5 million face masks in Lagos? @ least 3-5 million pple will b exposed daily.

I agree most lagosians earn DAILY.

Let LASG relax d clampdown n let everyone
hope PROVIDENCEwill protect him/her as dey step out.

But to think any measure apart from lock down will stop infection rates in Lagos is self deception.

Ordinary ikeja underbridge n computer village, see collision of people.
Lockdown doesn't stop the spread ... the lockdown tactic is to spread it over a long period of time witout putting pressure on d existence facility. A lockdown situation will lead to other crisis for survival over hunger, income and production.

Do you know the virus has been with us since November/December 2019 but only came to surface in Nigeria after global cry.

Truth be told - we can't save EVERY ONE - people will die .... if anyone wants to be d statistics - Great

Enforcement has to done to achieve an controlled spread so as not to collapse an already lacking health-care system

Even during the lockdown, smaller markets still busy given the fact that foodstuff market is allowed to be open.

The control of spread starts from within your household not within a public space.

I believe social distancing and staying at home will stop the spread.

In Italy, when the daily increase of the spread was high, you dear not come out, the police will arrest you.

Here in Nigeria, we are seeing an increase in daily infection, even if you use face mask and hand sanitizer, when you go to public places, like the market, people will still touch you.

The problem is people breaking the rules of stay at home, the idea that face mask will fully protect you can be misleading, an infected person with facemask will still infect his family members and those around them.

We are still in the early days of corono virus in Nigeria and it will be wrong to tell people to resume work forgetting how our buses are crowded most times.
This is the problem - we keep saying in Italy, in this country, in that country - every country can not apply same precautions and achieve same due to different welfare packages that the government will have to put in place....

China closed wuhan but left Shanghai and Beijing operational

Residents in most cities in US already calling for relaxation of lockdown

The NCDC response plan towards influenza published 2013 says lockdown isnt advisable.

Presently we are seeing an increase in numbers after 3weeks of lockdown - most countries saw a spike first 14days of lockdown then a gradual decline.

The typical nigerian is migratory in nature ... he moves from one place to another without no just reason sometimes.

The typical Nigerian is on a daily based income.

A method that attacks the situation with a nigerian approach while fusing a partial lockdown scenario has to be used.

Crowded market spaces - Every local govt, iyaloja and health workers can be utilized to enlighten, educate and correct movement in market spaces. Large markets should practice a higher hygiene method. Use of face masks should be strictly encouraged.

Public transport - this would have been a great time for the govt to launch mass transit that will be used to control, educate and enlighten people while they move from place to place

Yellow buses - best time for the nurtw chairman of Lagos to make a stand on his tenure. Mass education of all drivers n conductors , daily distribution of face masks at parks

Social distancing not in form of a lock down should be encouraged.

You are still in denial lol ..... I said a million times and it seems you not getting it ...." When US sneezes the World catches a cold " if you don't know what that means ,than you are as uneducated as the rest of Trump supporters...

This is Trump due to the fact that he didnt act fast enough to deal with the global crises.. When there was malaria and all types and manners of disease.. The USA are first in line of action, but this type around they are in the last line of action... now due to the global crises the demand of oil has fallen.. You can recall before the crisis Russia and Saudi were fighting over price .. The Saudi decided to pump more oil to punish to Russia and take market share of the oil .. Trump came in talk to them and both countries settle . And oil prices went up a bit, you see right there is the power of the USA influence.. But unfortunately the virus spiral out of country....

India and China are one of the largest buyers of crude oil ,especially China. China and basically the world are dealing with the virus as we speak. Oil is the last thing in any country mind now .. Due to Trump negligence the USA economy is in a recession now and the outcome has affected European countries.....

This is a ripple affects that comes down all the way to Nigeria. Covid19 can't be contained in Nigeria and the cure or vaccine will take at least a year to come out.. For now the Naira will become useless .. The last time I check $1 equals 428 naira.. This is just the beginning

people here are breaking the rules of social distancing and staying at home that is why there is an increase
Staying at home can not prevent the increase in nigeria...it has clearly been proven...

Phase 1 lock down - no increase

Phase 2 lock down - increase in great numbers

Social distancing will control and limit spread

Face mask will control and limit spread (Czech republic have greatly reduced spread with this method)

Hmmm.. I pray Nigeria shouldn't get to the state USA is right now concerning this covid-19 issue. As at this time last month, USA had a record of about 700 deaths. Presently they are above 50,800 deaths. That's above 50k in a month and they have good healthcare system.

I'm tired of staying at home doesn't mean I want the govt to lift the lockdown. We are careless in Nigeria. If this pandemic gets out of hand in Nigeria especially Lagos. To get bed space at the isolation centres would be on who knows who basis.

I don't see buhari lifting the ban on Monday. Even south Africa that is planning of easing the lockdown has recorded over 4000 cases with less recoveries and about 80 deaths.

My suggestion to the govt is that they should do a total shutdown of Nigeria for 2weeks.

The health workers should remain at the hospitals, because when they are off duty and they go back to their families, they can transmit the virus to the family and it's start spreading. Everybody is hiding under the essential workers permit and they are moving around.

Please let's remember that when there is life, there is hope...
Govt has already done 4weeks lockdown...and there has been increase in the 2nd half of the lockdown and not the first half.

Note: The first lockdown was to control and monitor the spread to communities so as to be able to identify and quickly quarantine such areas eg the virus incubation is 2-14days that's why a lockdown of 14days or quarantine of 14days is advised.

There will be a rise till it gets to the peak...then a a flatten curve will occur afterwards

Staying at home can't prevent the increase, if it did why do you see an increase in the extension phase of the lockdown and not in the 1st phase huh

No govt can sustain a lockdown of every city. Even NCDC response plan published sept 2013 in response to influenza stated that a lock down will be ill-advised and not sustainable

The covid19 is something we have to come to terms with that it will live among us for a long time.

Sometimes I wonder what the world would be like today if the mortality rate of Covid-19 isn’t as low as it is. The spread is crazy, infection rate is high, we aren’t getting tested enough; we do not have accurate figures. It’s also a novel virus, what’s to say something more sinister won’t be found out tomorrow about this virus?

Lots of people calling for the end of the lockdown don’t really understand the point of the lockdown to start with lipsrsealed. I understand there are challenges that comes with the lockdown, but IMO, it’s the lesser of two evils.

Left to me, the government should do more for the citizens.Provide more palliatives and increase testing. But removing the lockdown is a disaster waiting to happen.

The government can not sustain this measure. The baised distribution will keep bringing up chaos.

I believe government should call off the lockdown... engage more enlightened resources to reach people via media, religious leaders, brand ambassadors on need to use face masks and hygiene to reduce the spread.

Local government health workers should be equipped and brought up to speed on need to control spread within the community, market places.

Every local govt should have a first responder unit within the community where education, enlightened and control of ppe resources to d community is done.

Note this virus will live with us for a long time to come... the Spanish flu went from 1918 - 1920 ...

So we have been thinking the next option available to move persons when given the nod to move about...

We know every one will be conscious of hygiene protocol and also their surroundings.

We will be working on partnering with estates within Lagos to move residents from home to work place and back home.

How do we achieve this, we will be deploying our toyota sienna (well fumigated, sanitizers on board, face mask available for every passengers and strict health safety measures will be in place).

We also have executive sedan that can take 3 persons

We believe controlling the spread within communities can be achieved.

Depreciation is a function of locale in Nigeria. To analyze depreciation in as sterile a condition as possible you should use kbb. Eventually when you sell, the money you'll realise from the sale of the corolla will compensate for the "extra money" the civic made

Every vehicle will command a resale value worth its depreciation. After resale the Corolla will still lag
