Nobody worked at home, except me. I made sure everyone's salary was paid up to date before the lockdown.

My question is: if you were the owner of the company, would you pay your staff for the month none of them came to work and you also had no business?

No I will not...

In my business, what I closed down the office March 28th and paid salary for that month. Mid April I just sent them an little sum to keep body together. That was based on human thinking... business thinking, I will pay salaries for period no work or business.

My brother, u did OK... when they run their own business u will see business decisions isnt based on human feelings

You have a point there, actually.

But it's all good.. protecting a business comes with a lot of instant decisions.... you did right by mentioning no work done (imagine its a board meeting u were asked to give report for April)

So the moral of my two stories is this:
Don't take whatever doesn't belong to you.

If my employer was naive enough to the point of thinking he had a responsibility to pay staff who didn't work in April salary from business that never happened in April, then I, as his COO, is duty-bound to set him right. And I'm proud I did just that.

Now, if he decides, of his own freewill, to gift his staff their April salaries, then I'm cool with it.

Even for my car owner (in my second narrative), I was not willing to pay him for what the car never earned. We signed a rental agreement to use the car for e-hailing purposes and to remit a rent from the earnings thereof. The moment it became impossible for the car to earn the agreed rental, despite working 70 hours + in the week (clause also in the agreement), I had the right to call a 'force majeure,' which I did.

Concluding, this is not about morals. This is about doing right no matter its cost. I regularly encounter these situations of temptations and I regularly resist them. And my life has been better for it too.

The right thing was 'to prepare the payroll for oga to see' .. actually u didnt do ur duty - 'to prepare the payroll' which would have shown NO WORK done for that month...

Do you think ur oga forgot?

Something weird happened today at work. My boss calls me and says,
"Deji, please prepare the payroll for April; let's pay the staff their salary."

I was dumbfounded for a few seconds. My boss notices that I'm acting confused. He asks me what's wrong.

Me: "Sir, we are not paying April salary. The business didn't open. No member of staff came to work."

My boss stared at me, not believing himself. "Are you sure, Deji?"

Me: "Very sure, sir."

Did I do wrong? Did I not do wrong?

You did wrong and right ....but nobody noticed, just ur boss

Full time drawing near .... 8pm .....

Situation Report from my side. grin

Current location: Oniru (Very dry)
I have done 4 trips so far.

LCC is not collecting toll but Bolt is adding it to the fare.

Banks are crowded. There’s nothing like social distancing at GTB Admiratly.

Lekki-Epe Exp is free of traffic.

One rider was trying to hold a conversation even with her face mask on. I was only nodding to everything she was saying till she kept quiet.

Not bad...slow n steady

Them no dey teach monkey how to jump...

Every man (driver or partner) will always weigh the options and do what is appropriate.

No need to educate both parties about how income will look this period. Every man will do his calculations and apply as deem fit to him and him only.

We dey wait make whistle blow at 5.59am 4th may

Nice concept grin.

Meanwhile, why not adjust it to cover the driver space L-shape alone so all the passenger-side aircon vents can blow freely to the passenger at the back undecided.

I intend doing that..boxing out d driver and all passengers

Better oyel dey your head!! drivers will always want to force the hand of the partner to adjust. Goverment only gave a 2 weeks observation period and you all are already wanting rentals slashed by partners. Drivers making the rental fees isn't the problem but the percentage of driver earnings will be worst hit and that's their fears.

Many partners borrowed monies and are also paying instalments to banks, many borrowed from friends and family, many wiped out their savings with a projected timeline to recoup.

The market will definitely determine appropriate fees, I really think it's unnecessary for people to want to jump the gun.I would rather advise those planning to enter the market or getting additional cars or taking HP contracts to hold on but for those of us already in should see it out.

I am sorry I might sound a bit unpleasant, but we need to all see this as what it is, Business!! and not some kind of government grant!!

cheesy

Good morning guys, I guess it's time we report to the Mods anyone that comes here to derail the thread again or we just ignore the person totally.

My Uber docs ( insurance expires in 3weeks, inspection has already expired) I dont even know if Uber inspection locations will be opened on monday. If you see anyone opened on the island pls mention me.

We are resuming on the 8th, so I have one week to test the waters again before my driver/partner comes to pick the car.

I think this week work will give a better understanding to know the right or reasonable weekly fare. Car owners should take note.

30k/25k weekly is impossible at this time let's not deceive ourselves.

I like nigerians .. something has not happened but we have concluded. grin

Let's run 1st week ...then we discuss
