Hi guys,its been a while and a big shout out to all the mighty men of valor who have kept this space educative and helpful. May those good dreams of ours come true.
I have not been here for some months now due to academic and general work life in Canada. I decided to come and learn from here as usual so I stumbled on this argument/debate on PGD(C) and I feel my input may help someone.
I will not bring you guys back since the argument on this is closed but will quickly speak from my experience as someone who is already in the system.
First,some information that fly around sometimes are far from being true. I am wondering how someone would generalize that PGD(C) is often pursued by those who had a 3rd class. This should not be passed around. Personally,I applied for Masters program at UOttawa (MEM) but due to the fact that I had a second class lower,it was pretty difficult getting the admission because,the standard for admission remains high and it would only favour those with upper and sometimes strong upper. Having said that, there are many ways to kill a bird and you may choose to go for the best one.
Without mincing words,PGD(C) in Canada is not a cheap program as you may think...if you doubt me,find out about some programmes like Infrastructure System Management (ISM) ,Network and Security Architecture et al. Find out how many second class upper from across the globe Nigerians inclusive could manage to complete the program.Some of them leaves the program at the end of a semester or mid-way into the semester because its highly demanding. I am indirectly telling you that,some second class upper student are in the college running different courses that are industry based.
In my few months of stay,I have met people from across the globe with such a great knowledge and skills,I have met people in a very big automobile industry where I work as a Quality Inspector even as a part time student. Take this from me,companies here celebrate your skills and certifications and not "degrees". In as much as I celebrate my friends in the academics (PhD bound people),if you approach some of MSc candidates here,they will tell you that, if they had any plan to go and work in the industry,they will prefer to come to college for diploma or any industry based teaching program because,you are coming to learn what you will use in the industry. Industries come to college to request the different kind of skill sets they want and based on that, some programmes are designed.
I want whoever is considering PGD(C) as a means of entry not to be discouraged,it is a channel to come in and from there you can go to any University you want provided you have B as the average grade for all your courses. I have completed the first semester of my program,my grades are really great and with that I can conveniently apply to any university against Winter 2017 that is if I don't get a job before then.

Please I want those who are thinking of entering through PGD(C) to pursue it and if you can get masters admission good luck. The end will always justify the means. All that matter is having a skill set that is needed in the industry and get a job in a class A,O or B as specified in the NOC list.

Another matter of concern to me,I have been part of the international volunteers welcoming new students into school for Fall and from what I saw,it shows a decline in the number of students from Nigeria. I am not happy with this because I was expecting our people to come in and continue to populate Canada. I pray God turn around the table in our favour and restore us to the place of many TRV approvals!

Bro if its MSC miracle fit happen , but if na PGC(D) *kolewerk*.... My department dey do orientation today ,me still dey pray for medical mail.. Before someone quote me and say I'm giving bad advise, just hope and pray to get your TRV , to me it doesn't mater when I resume , I just want my PALI stamped....

I really don't like it when someone just posts anyhow without thinking/reading well , why would someone just come here and say "is it by force to give visa".... I believe we all have our different reasons for choosing to study in a college.

the college I applied to (Lambton) usually release success stories of international students after their studies to encourage prospective students.... I've seen lots of success stories of Nigerians who get GOOD jobs after their PGD/PGC.

I mean this nigerian guy works in one of the best banks in Canada .... So I really don't know why you will just come here and bash my hustle cos you got accepted for Msc.

At the end of the day it all depends on hard work irrespective of ones discipline (PGC/PGD , Msc)..... good luck to all on our TRV journey

you can pay five years tuitions at once for all I care but it is left for them to decide who enters their country and who don't...I see where a lot of ppl come here and say they wrote to Cic and got no reply without giving the details of how that particular message was composed.,bear in mind if you send a commanding message to Cic you'll not be replied and it can ruin your application Coz it simply shows your aggressiveness and how impatient u are,they wouldn't wanna allow such person into their country...that's a psychological test they give to applicants that a lot of ppl don't know....those ppl at the embassy are very smart dudes...oga if you like pay tuition fee tuition,if you like pay five years accommodation at once too? Once your story doesn't look straight to them you'll be denied and it's as simple as that...so don't blab about whether it's by force to do msc or blab about paying tuition fee Coz it doesn't change any damn thing because they didn't force you to apply for an entry to their country....I'm saying this Coz if you're an officer working there at their office you'll have to do work with the way the government ordered them...it's not their fault,every year this ppl map out how many people they need in their country once that number is achieved then nothing more...and this year will be of great news Coz they made it clear to the world that they need a lot of people but that doesn't mean they'll give u visa when your story is not straight...this year Canada is issuing their international passports to different countries and stated how many thousands of people they'll give those passports...it's a very vast country country and they need people but that doesn't mean they'll give their visas anyhow...why do you think most of those that got visa approved are all msc applicants? Your choice of course matters a lot but ppl don't just get it.everybody wants to enter Canada by all means Oya fly nah,go to Canada and acquire riches

Hello fellow Nairalanders, I have been a silent follower of the thread and I would say it's been awesome. I just have to say I wasn't surprised when my application was delayed as CIC is up to no good. So this is my own timeline.
Applied July 3rd, Biometric done 4th. Delayed 25th August
Documents submitted:
All CIC documents
Admission letter from Lambton to study quality engineering management.
Receipt showing half tuition payment.
CV showing level of education
Employment letter from my company where I work as a quality officer. (Jan to date )
My Bsc Cert Mechanical Eng (2.2)
Notarized Letter of sponsorship from sponsor who resides in the US (uncle maternal)
sponsors bank statement X2
Letter of introduction from sponsors place of work
Marriage certificate of parents to show link with sponsor.
The VO stated that I was denied based on my purpose of visit and current employment status.
So I want to request for GCMS now to see what they really want so I know whether it's to start looking elsewhere or selling for masters.

I guess I should expect my passport anytime from now cos I also applied for quality engineering management at Lambton and BSC Engr too....na by force to do Msc....

one of my friends mentioned this CYPRUS,what incentive does the immigration system have for international students which can incite ones interest? About Aussie,i still dey inquire about their new proof of funding policy which never gree me understand

I doubt if Foreign Affairs would want do anything about this. I'll rather suggest you individually complain to or tweet the Canadian Immigrantion Minister - John McCallum. If he gets so many complaints, he'll be asking Accra questions.

Please let's key into what lawmerchant gave us especially we PGD/PGC applicants, I've tweeted and sent a mail as well , like he said If he gets too many complaints he'll be asking questions , we should be more concerned coupled with the fact that we've not been called for medicals and our schools are resuming in less than 3 weeks...

My take on this PGD/PGC issue is this: I think they have a qouta for PGD/PDG students. So the take their time to review and place the best applications in a pool. Now towards the end of August/ early September, they select from the pool having the quota in mind. You will notice that there will be mass approval and mass delay during that period. Same thing happened last year fall. The delays are majorly PURPOSE OF VISIT AND LENGTH OF STAY related. These delays are as a result of quota and not because the applications were not good enough.

Your application is still within the processing time , so worry less and pray more for a positive outcome on your app....What skl and course ??
