If I were to give advise, I'd say wait a minute. Is your 181k job so bad that you are willing to quit for the unknown and the uncertain. Or is there a strong reason why you want to tow this path, have you REALLY given this a thought.
Being a driver on ride share carries its own disadvantages, even when you own the car. You will get maltreated by riders, insulted by children, abused by ladies of ill repute cheesy, harrangued by worldly traffic enforcement officers as a result of your status as a ride share driver.
The job has its fair share of hazards and risks, it is underpaid and overworked. You will even be starving hungry like this and your rider will bring out hot steamy aromatic KFC chicken and be chewing it loudly in the AC of your car. Your stomach acids will be screaming at you to collect the chicken and swallow it whole. Such is the life of a ride share driver.
But if there are so many of us doing it, maybe it has a few rewards. How do those rewards compare to the rewards of a 181k job? I don't know.
I will tell you my part.
I don't too fancy 9-5 work. I am better productive in a casual setting. Where i can be at work 24 hours of the day, anytime I get the grips to, I go into my study and work. That is my idea of a job.
Being an unemployed graduate, I needed something to do. Ride share fit right into my plans and allowed me to earn money till I decided what I really wanted to do.
I thoroughly enjoyed the loose formality of Uber.
And I was at my best productively.
Socially, I would say was quite good too. I met soooo many great people, and I more often than not connected with my riders.
It was indeed a fun social experiment for me. On an average, I met 10 new people everyday and about 4 repeat meetings.
I hear someone thinking "na friend we go chop".
Well true. But what is so wrong with making friends AND money, especially out of the same person. Talk about 2 birds, one stone.
Most importantly, I made money. Pardon my saying this, but I like to think I'm a socially open person. Because of this, people tended to call me for offline trips. And I made a good amount of money doing this.
So why not?
Give this a goood thought, there will be rainy days. But remember they never last.
If I were you, I would give it a good thought, hedge my bets if possible. Practise at weekends for a month before taking the plunge (even that might not give you a full sense of the job). Think of it as padding your runway, you most likely will fly, but what if you fall?
Thanks again.

Dovehorizon:
To the guy who wants to leave his 181k per month job for uber.
There are so many questions u need to ask yourself and that should out you in check.

1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5years?
2. Will this job of yours get you to where you want to be in the next five years?
3. What's your passion, does your job give you that sense of fulfillment?
4.How long have you bin an emoloyee (we all know some organizations promotes within a certain number of years, what's your growth like with the company)

5.No one is irreplaceable, (God forbid), if anything happens to you tomorrow, how soon will they get a replacement.

5. Are you married, do u have kids, etc

There are so many more questions I would have loved to ask but that should be enough for now.

When your intuition starts telling your something, pay attention to it.
A lot of people are saying they will leave uber for the 181k job, these are people who gat no idea what you go through, what your job entails and the duration of hours you work. There ar Yes 181k looks enticing but have they thought about the health implications, yes there is no job without risk, even footballers nurse injuries too..

One thing people should realize is, greatness can't really be achieved sitting in your comfort zone.

True life story, I have a friend who resigned from a job of 250k weekly to start up her biz, trust me, starting was very difficult for her but eventually she had a breakthrough and now she can comfortably boast of making 350-400k monthly.

Bruv, my advice is, take a leave maybe 2weeks or a month, use it to learn the scopes of ehailing biz, then compare and contrast. If it is something u can do and find joy in it, then go ahead.
Drivers are still making weekly remittance of 30-35k and some choose days to work, now u will be driving your car and not compelled or forced to make these weekly payment. If they can do it, you can also do it and also have time for self development while u work on what u really want to do.
Thanks for this.

Pls don't quit your job. 181k is a lot of money to lose because of uber/taxify. E-hailing is a full time job for those who don't have a better job. If you already have a 181k job, pls don't lose it.
Or
Link me up to your employers. Let us swap. I take your job of 181k, you take my uber job.
Lol, response appreciated.

You can get close to or hit that figure.
At an average income of 1k per hour.
At an average of 11 hours per day.
That should give 330k per month.
Fuel, calls and servicing 150k/month average.
Miscellaneous 30k/month.
Approximately 150k/month take home.
Hard + smart work is key.
Thanks a lot for this.

Of course we do all those maintenance. U can't subject ur car constantly on Nigerian road for 2years and expect it to be healthy. Uncle gazuzu I know u have no experience about driving uber or taxify, ur comments comes from the angle of car owner. I enjoin you to register as driver and drive for a month. U would Gather enough experience to face reality the way we do.
Thanks
Lol. Gazzuzz drives ooo. The way you maintain your car goes a long way bro. If not why do we have some many old model cars such as Camry pencil light on the road, these are cars manufactured almost 2 decades ago yet very strong and reliable.

One he-goat just made me transfer #100 to his account.
Trip fare from fola agoro to Lekky County was #3400. He gave me #3500 and asked for #100 change. I told him I didn't have #100; but I have #200, so does he have #100 let me give him the #200. He said no.

I had to transfer #100 to him from my account, at the cost of #52.50.

He-goat
Or you could have given him the 200 bucks. What if bad network wrongly calculated trip as 3,300. Would you have known?

Christianity EtcRe: As A Christian, Is Court Wedding In Place Of Church Wedding Acceptable By God? by casiello(m): 11:33am On Sep 10, 2017
zionmde:
In some instances u re correct but for some cultures u pay the bride price then fix a date for the traditional wedding. Paying the bride price is the ultimate seal.
You mean fix date for celebration, party and reception. The bride price paid before is the traditional marriage. You need to understand that the rite of paying bride price is traditional marriage not the merriment event.
Christianity EtcRe: As A Christian, Is Court Wedding In Place Of Church Wedding Acceptable By God? by casiello(m): 11:15am On Sep 10, 2017
zionmde:
Traditional marriage is not valid in the eyes of God. Is it an occasion they pour libations for their ancestors? There is a difference between paying the bride price and traditional wedding, When the former is done, in the sight of God u become husband and wife. Now all other things that follow can as well be left out. That is why i used the word "ideal" in my first comment.
Now a prophet is a mouthpiece of God, and the bible says how shall they believe if they dont hear, so the pronouncement of a prophet is intended to voice out the seal of that marriage but spiritually the marriage is sealed once the bride price has been paid.
Now in court marriage u take an oath which has legal consequences if the oath is broken that is why people prefer to wed there, the same court can dissolve ur marriage and the two processes is biblically wrong. First bible says "let ur yes be yes and nay be nay" second the bible says "what God has joined together no man should put assunder"
You are contradicting yourself. Paying of bride price is the actual traditional wedding. You can't separate into two elements because a traditional wedding without bride price payment is not valid

I admire you OP. You are strong willed to have single handedly pursued your ambitions with limited resources.

Dont go to that church.

Always remind your sis that you love her irrespective of her behaviour. Ignore her attitude completely and focus on the bigger picture which is your dreams.

Lastly, be watchful of gifts or any items you recieve at this point till you travel. It could be from the church and therefore suspicious.

Goodluck with your dreams bro.. Remember to always pray.
CareerRe: I Have This Amazing Business Idea, But Scared To Quit My Job! by casiello(m): 11:31pm On Apr 25, 2017
AimingIncognito:
I have this fantastic business idea i've been thinking about for almost 2years but i'm super scared of quitting my job and venture into the business.

I actually took the job to save up for the business but along the line my dad advised i buy a land around one higher instutition in my state and build student hostels, so each time i save up to the require amount to set up this business,i develop cold feet and i end up using the money to develop the site.

I'm so into this business or let me put it this way: the business is so into me that i could search the internet for 5hrs Straight(mid-night,midday, on the move, in the office, anywhere and everyone- that is the only thing i think about),it got so bad that the only thing i gist my friends about is this biz.

Its almost 5am and i'm still wide-awake thinking and writing stuffs down about the biz logistics(its that bad)

My fam are a bit skeptical about quitting my job(when good jobs are hard to comeby) and starting a new biz. Also, i think they are just reasoning like a typical african parent by saying 'what if you set up with all you have in lagos and you end up settling down in another state?

I can't even think straight because once i clear my account again for my hostel project, i would hv to start saving allover again.

The probability that the biz would be a hit is 80%, but IF 'idea hackers' overtake me kpere! temibami niyen! cry I'm not too bothered abt 'idea hackers' really, nigeria population is too big for one person to monopolise an idea.

What should i do pls?

***i can't do both(office job and the business) It won't work
Firstly, I know Nigeria is a tough environment to survive, but please do away with the mentality that losing a job is one of the worst thing that can happen to one.

Secondly, find a way to combine both without initially utilizing all your savings. There are ways such as contracting a partner, train someone on how to apply the skill you possess, rent an apartment close to the business place for proximity, use i.t gadgets to monitor the business whenever you are not around etc. You'd be surprised there could actually be a way to combine both.

Next, if you are absolutely certain you can't combine both, then quit your job! Oddly though, the worst that happens if the business fails is that you'd actually get another job!! May take months but you'd surely get another, you already have work experience means it is impossible to be jobless forever. You seem young, now is the time to take such risk.

Lastly, I have a simple question. If your office sacks you today, what would you do next? The answer to that question should guide you.

There are things you have to know about job hunting. The truth is that a lot of Job related threads make front page but people like you are so lazy to read and know what to do.

Check out for the following tips.

1) Crosscheck your CV

2) Cover letter

If they can't convince a blind man, then you work on it again. but if they are good, then you know the extra steps to take.

Do you know something called a letter of introduction?

Do you know how to get invites by cold calling the HR of some organizations?

Do you know how to operate using Insider's informations?

Think deep or visit www.topwritersden.com. Visit the Job seeker's section and get yourself well equiped.
That wasn't neccesary, haba!!

Calendermokola:
Hello,

I hope you all are doing fine .

I graduated from the University with a Second Class Lower (Bsc Economics), Missed 2.1 by 0.01 point . A partly qualified Accountant who has good knowledge of Taxation , Audit , Financial reporting and Microsoft Office suite. I am still hunting for Job.

I would see a lovely vacancy that I would want to apply for, reading through the requirements, I would realize that the minimum requirement is a 2.1.

I would give my CV to people and they would say "No, We cant help you . You made a 2.2 .

All these denials just because I didnt make a 2.1

Lessons for undergraduates still in school :

-Try as much as possible to graduate with not less than a 2.1
-Graduating with a 2.2 might deny you from getting certain benefits.
- Ignore those that say , "Even first class still dey look for Job, who 2.1 help?"
- Trust in God.
Indicate 3.49 as your class of degree on your CV not 2.2
PoliticsRe: Omoyele Sowore: "Dino Melaye Connived With His Former HOD To Get Discharged" by casiello(m): 6:00pm On Mar 27, 2017
Kiakia:
Did he really graduate? Nigerians need to see the original copy of the Certificate in Geography issued to him by ABU and not a doctored Statement of Result he is bandying about. Is this so hard to ask?
Presenting a certificate document is no longer compulsory.
With the VC confirming his graduating status on record, presenting a statement of result or certificate isn't compulsory since the VC's recording also verifies the claims that would be on the certificate document. The recording can be used in lieu of a document.

Sowore is wrong here, his initial claim was that Dino didn't graduate, a claim which the school VC has confirmed to be wrong.

The process of graduating students is subjective for every university so challenging Dino's graduating process makes him appear desperate, ridiculous and foolish. I am astonished that anyone here sees reason to support Sowore.
