Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, met with ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience at their residence in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa state this morning. The former presidents held a close door meeting with other dignitaries including the governor of Bayelsa, Mr. Seriake Dickson.. 

Obasanjo who arrived Yenagoa, the state capital yesterday with other notable personalities for this month's Bayelsa praise night, earlier visited Goodluck Jonathan some months ago in Bayelsa where the former president (Obasanjo) described the visit as a meeting of brothers.

According to reports, the meeting had to do with the political tension in the country ahead of the 2019 election.

An unidentified African migrant was shot by police officers after attempting to attack them in public in Turin, Italy. It was gathered that the African man allegedly tried to attack the officers with an object before he was shot by them.

In a video footage posted online, the migrant can be seen laying on the ground as the officers called for 'help' after he was shot, according to reports.

It is yet to be determined what prompted the man to attack the policemen in broad daylight as his current condition is unknown.

This is coming after a Nigerian migrant caused a mild drama at a train station in Italy after he allegedly refused to tender his documents when approached by security operatives.

The man was about to create a scene with his shouting before two policemen joined the other security men questioning him before he was shoved aside for proper interrogation.

The Italian authorities have said that any migrant who doesn’t want to abide by the rules of their country, should leave immediately.

Troops of Quick Response Force has intercepted a gang of armed robbers operating at Felele, along Lokoja - Okene highway wearing military camouflage and robbing innocent commuters.

Three of the armed robbers, Saviour Denis-39years, Isaac Donald-35years and Joseph Isah-35years were arrested while one Mr Atsen was neutralized during an exchange of fire with the troops.

Also, two female accomplices, Mrs Janet Isah and Oyinoye Ochefije were arrested during the encounter.

Items recovered include:

a. One AK 47 rifle.

b. One AK 47 rifle magazine loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition.

c. Four pairs of military camouflage uniform.

d. One pair of Nigeria Police pullover.

e. Three pairs of berets.

f. One pair of black boot.

g. Two machetes.

h. One Plier.

i. 22 handsets.

j. A sum of Sixteen Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty Naira cash.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further necessary action.

A young girl has died after she was reportedly raped multiple times by unknown person(s) in Cross River state on Saturday 21st July. After the gruesome act, her attackers dumped her at U.J. Esuene Sport Stadium by Oando filling station in Calabar before she was rescued and rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, (UCTH).

The Cross River State team of Child Protection Network (CPN) - received a call from a passionate woman about a girl who was found laying on the road. Upon their arrival, it was noticed that the girl was still breathing. 

According to Mr Kebe Ikpi of Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), the child who is reportedly about 17 years old, was taken to UCTH.

It was gathered that the unidentified girl was already unconscious at the time she taken for medical attention. On the 26th, she showed signs of regaining consciousness and on the 28th of July, she passed on being unable to make it. 

The girl's corpse has been deposited in a mogue as she hasn't been properly identified for her family can't be contacted...

Two policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), were spotted in Mufti while on duty yesterday in Owerri, Imo state. The policemen were almost mistaken for armed robbers considering how they arrived at a street in the metropolis without any proper means of identification. 

This happened weeks after police officers were banned from operating in Mufti in Lagos.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, warned that “any policeman who carries out operational duties in mufti will be sanctioned.” 

He  however, stated that only certain policemen were allowed to wear jackets with the inscriptions of their units on them. 

Imohimi said: “Henceforth, no policeman should carry out operational duties in Lagos in mufti without police uniform. The only units allowed to wear jackets with the inscription of his unit on it are the Anti Cultism unit, Anti Kidnapping unit, RAIDER; and the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad, FSARS.

“Every other policeman on operational duties must be in uniform. They will only be in mufti only if  they are attached to the investigation unit of the command. “We don’t want any policeman to cause us any embarrassment.”

He also called on Lagosians to join the Command in the fight against unprofessional conduct by policemen by  reporting any policeman in uniform found drinking  beer in the public, on the designated numbers in  the public domain.

A prophet popularly known as AJ has been summoned by the police after he allegedly brought an unidentified man back to life after having been dead for four days. The Lusaka based prophet was invited for questioning at the Avondale police station in Zambia.

An eyewitness told THE PEOPLE that Apostle Joshua better known as AJ the Grand-Master during the Sunday church service last week performed a miracle on a man who had been dead for four days.

As shown in the pictures, the prophet laid hands on the dead man and after a few seconds the man “resurrected” coming back to his body and screamed “grand-master” as the rest of the congregation got into high spirits of shock.

A church member also narrated how Apostle Joshua heals people living with the HIV virus every Sunday turning their status to negative with a medical doctor conducting tastes at the backbench of the church. AJ has healed over 500 HIV patients at his church.

Surprisingly, when the man was dead for 4 days, his body was never taken in any mortuary in Lusaka and no one knows who was keeping it apart from the prophet and his spiritual sons, hence the police have called the prophet for questioning.

There was jubilation among residents following the arrival of the first passenger train to Delta state yesterday night. According to reports, the train took off from Itakpe in Kogi State and travelled through a 320km rail track to Warri in Delta state. In a video footage posted online, the train which arrived in the night - sparked jubilation among residents who rejoiced as it passed through. 

It has been revealed that in the next phase, the rail track will extend to Lokoja and then to Abuja.

This is coming after the minister of transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amechi, yesterday, met with the contractors and some members of his cabinets where they tested the rail from Warri to Kogi (Ajaokuta), earlier during the day.

It was also revealed that when the Itakpe-Warri Rail is completed, commuters will be able to travel from Kogi State to delta State by Rail, passing through Ajaokuta, Uromi, Agbor, and Abraka.

A notorious criminal suspect identified as Hafizu Magaji of Tudun Murtala, is currently cooling off his heels at the Kano state police command after being arrested recently.

According to reports, the suspect was said to be responsible for various robberies and kidnappings which have been taking place at other parts of the Kano neighbourhoods such as Bakin Kasuwa, Bakin Zuwo and Jakar.

The suspect who is said to have killed some victims during the course of robbery - was reportedly fighting a group of guys after trying to steal from a shop before he was arrested.

France player, Benjamin Pavard's stunner goal has been voted as the Hyundai goal of the just concluded 2018 World Cup in Russia. Fans around the world have chosen Benjamin Pavard's as the best of the tournament.

According to football governing body, in an online poll where over three million FIFA.com users casted their votes, Pavard's outside-of-the-foot rocket for France against Argentina, in which the 22-year-old displayed marvellous technique, has been voted the Hyundai Goal of the Tournament.

The goal selected by FIFA.com users was France's equaliser against Argentina in the Round of 16, which levelled the game at 2-2 as Les Bleus went on to record a 4-3 victory in Kazan and book their place in the quarter-finals.

“The ball bounced up as it came to me. I didn’t even think about it. I just tried to get over it and keep it down," Pavard told FIFA.com after France's Round of 16 thriller with Argentina. "I was trying to hit it in the direction it came from, which is what the strikers always tell me. I didn’t think it over, and when it went in I just felt so happy.”

A young man took his celebration to extreme length yesterday to celebrate the defection of senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who decamped from the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The young man reportedly drank from a dirty water by the roadside as he joined others to rejoice over their principal's decampment.

The former Kano governor, Kwankwaso defected along with 12 other lawmakers to PDP in a letter read by the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, at the national assembly yesterday.

This is coming after supporters of the lawmaker gathered in their numbers as they burnt brooms to show solidarity with the senator.

A High Court in Makurdi, Benue state has convicted the two surviving kidnappers who abducted and killed a Catholic priest identified as Fr. John Adeyi. The suspects were sentenced to death by hanging on Wednesday 25th July, 2018 (today).

The late Father Adeyi, a Vicar General of Catholic Diocese of Otukpo and Parish Priest of Catholic Church Okpoga, was in 2016 kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The cleric was later killed and his body dumped in a farm near Otukpa.

However, four of the kidnappers were arrested by A team of the Nigerian police led by ACP Abba Kyari few months after.

In a verdict on Wednesday, the court found the two surviving suspects guilty and handed them death by hanging.

A man is very elated to be alive after escaping mishap following a ghastly motor accident along highway near Ore, Ondo state. According to him, he was traveling from the village to Lagos before the unfortunate incident occurred which saw his vehicle tumble multiple times and landed in a bush by the road.

He did not only come out alive from the accident but came out without any scratch as he even climbed on top of his damaged car to take pictures.

I try to to keep this marvelous work of God to myself but I couldn't. It all happened like a movie to me. Not as if am on the high speed I was just on 60km just that the devil want to try the child of God but he failed woefully.i was even having a full tank of fuel in my car but yet after the car tumbled 3 times, no fire and nothing happened to 4 of us inside the car not even a crash, all of us came out safely even dough my car damaged beyond repair, I really thank God for this wonderful deliverance over my life and that if my friends.

It was earlier reported about a man who killed his mother by slaughtering her with a knife in Okpuneze Nnewi, Anambra State. According to media reports, the suspect identified Chinedu Ikegwuonu as killed his mother yesterday night after a prophet allegedly told him that his mother is the cause of all his problems.

He allegedly killed his mother and ran away with his own wife and child.

Meanwhile, while some people claim a pastor told him his mom was behind his ordeals in life, a neighbor said he killed her because she prevented him from collecting house rent from tenants.

A horrific multiple accident was said to have happened yesterday by 4pm just in front of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by one of the drivers who was allegedly making phone call while driving before collision with the two other vehicles.

There was no instant fatality as the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment before the vehicles were later evacuated.

A woman was arrested along with her little children in Edo state over an alleged offense her husband committed. It was revealed that the nursing mother and her children were detained at the police station instead of her husband for allegedly buying stolen phone.

They reportedly spent the night in the police station before their release was secured today by human rights activist, Kola Edokpayi (pictured wearing cap below).

This is coming after the police issued a warning to Nigerians against buying used phones which are popularly known as ‘London used’ without knowing sources of such phones.

The police in a statement said: “Please, whenever you want to buy a fairly used phone, try to know the source. Avoid using your money to buy trouble for yourself. Some of these so-called ‘London Used Phones’ might actually be stolen phones.

“If there are no buyers, there would be low demand for stolen phones and robbers would cease to be interested in other peoples’ phones”.

This is really shocking. A dramatic pastor created a huge scene during deliverance session in his church in the eastern part of Nigeria. In a viral video posted on Facebook, prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanemere of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry in Onitsha, Anambra state - can be seen slapping and forcefully hitting the members while trying to get them to feel his "anointing" and fall down.

A little girl whose legs were vigorously shaken by the pastor, cried after her own "deliverance".

Those church members who didn't fall after receiving his "anointed touch" - were dragged down by the ushers.

The video of the awkward deliverance has gone viral with many criticizing the pastor for his violent and dominating way of conducting deliverance.

In another video posted online, the pastor can be seen having fun and spraying money with a group of friends at an event.
