At least one person was killed after a a frontline senatorial aspirant for Imo North, Hon Patrick C. Ndubueze from Umualumoke Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo state Nigeria,  was attacked by unknown assassins yesterday. 

It was gathered that the senatorial aspirant's personal SUV and campaign vehicles were destroyed by the hired political thugs who attacked them at Ehime Mbano area. The attack left at least one person dead. 

Hon. Patrick Ndubueze, has notified the police of the attack as his campaign team awaits full investigation into the matter so that those involved in the dastardly crime will be brought to book.

He called his supporters and the people of Okigwe zone to remain calm and not to take matters into their hands.

The Kano State Hisbah Board generally referred to as the Muslim religious police or morality police- confiscated over 12 million bottles of beer from importers of the commodity in the state within the last seven years. 

The Board’s Commander General, Sheik Aminu Daurawa, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Thursday before the detsruction of some confiscated beer bottles. 

Daurawa said that the board was able to intercept the commodity in 800 operations carried out by its Enforcement unit across the 44 local government areas of the state.

“As you know, the Penal Code Amendment Law of 2004, No 4, Section 401, prohibits throughout the state manufacture, distillation, possession and disposal. “The law also prohibits, haulage, consumption of all brand of intoxicating liquors, trade sprits and any other intoxicating substance,’’ Daurawa said.

He said the operations which were part of efforts to ensure compliance with the law, had also led to arrest of a number of vehicles used by the suspects in bringing the illegal commodity into the state.

An aircraft was spotted being transported in a semi-trailer truck in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state capital, some days ago. The damaged plane was filmed by a Facebook user while being transported to an unknown location for reason yet to be ascertained.

Humphrey Hu who lives in Port-Harcourt, took to Facebook on Monday, September 17th, to share the pictures of the aircraft as he wrote; Now see Nigerians importing plane through Port Harcourt wharf. WTF is going on?

However, while some Nigerians have made unverified claims that the damaged plane was brought into the country as a fairly used product, others have argued that the plane might have been taken for repairs. 

This is coming days after two Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 aircraft formerly used by Topbrass Aviation Services Limited, a local operator, were allegedly stolen in Lagos.

The airplanes (registration numbers 5N-TBB and 5N-TBC) have been the focus of a legal tussle between the lessor, Seagold Investment Limited, and Topbrass Aviation Services.

The onslaught against the twin evil of armed robbery and cultism in the state, ended on a high note yesterday, September 19, 2018, when the operatives of Lagos State Police Command, did not only intercept a rampaging criminal gang but killed one of them during a gun battle.

A tip off from a well meaning citizen to the the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Owode Onirin, Ikorodu Lagos, changed the game for the terror gang who had same day, at Demuren street, Alapere, stabbed one Sylvester Chikwendu, male, aged 32 years, suspected to be a rival cult member to death.

Sequel to the information, the DPO, mobilised a crack team to Thomas Bus-stop, Owode. He told his men to narrow the road and gave them a clear description of the gang's operational car.

When the gang approached the police zone, they became desperate and opened fire on the operatives in their last ditched effort to evade arrest, eliciting immediate response from the team.

However, in the ensuing gun battle, one of them bowed to death owing to bullet wounds sustained during the fight while the others escaped with varying degrees of gun shot wounds abandoning the following items which had since been recovered, at the scene; viz: their operational vehicle, a Toyota Camry saloon car without registration plate, one pump action rifle, one locally made revolver pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol, five live 9mm calibre ammunition, three live cartridges, two expended cartridges, two cutlasses, charms (Juju) and assorted clothing.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi says that the quick resolution of a crime that started at Alapere, should signal criminal elements that the security in place in the state is virtually impregnable. He added that now that the ember month has come, police personnel serving in the state are under firm instruction to decisively subdue perpetrators of violent crimes. He appeals to health care professionals including native doctors and other care givers, to be on the lookout for patients with gunshot wounds and inform the police within two hours of commencement of treatment in line with the Compulsory Treatment of Victims Of Gunshot Act.

A young man met his untimely end after being attacked by a group of suspected cultists in Bayelsa state. It was gathered that the attackers chased their victim and killed him in cold blood by stabbing him in his throat and leaving him there to die.

The shocking incident which threw residents into panic - happened yesterday around Etegwe/Tombia junction in Yenagoa, the state capital. 

Those present at the time of the murder - ascertained the killing to cult related matter. 

This latest killing is coming less than a month after the Bayelsa Government imposed a curfew on Twon Brass in the Brass Local Government Area of the state, where three were killed.

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’ Owerri, said it intercepted a truck carrying bales of military wears illegally imported into the country by yet to be identified persons.  A mobile patrol team at the Onitsha, Anambra State Head Bridge axis of the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’ Owerri on Friday, intercepted the truck with military hardware and medicament concealed within.

The Controller of Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’ Owerri, Comptroller Olusemire Kayode, disclosed this on Friday.

Kayode gave a breakdown of the intercepted consignments as including:

• 90 pairs of military camouflage uniform
• 97 pieces of military camouflage jungle hats
• 202 pieces of military camouflage round neck vest
• 20 pieces of military camouflage singlet
• 40 pieces of military camouflage jungle boots
• 10 pieces of military camouflage water bags
• Two (2) rolls of plain military khaki material
• 7 cartons of 402 packs of hydrochloride Royal tramadol containing 10x10x10 tablets made in India
• Four (4) cartons of 60 packs Tramadol injection, made in India
• Three (3) cartons of 140 packs of CSP with codeine cough syrup made in UK
• 100 packs of Diazepam made in India
• Two (2) cartons of 231 packs of Juhel D5 tablets
• One (1) carton of 100 packs of Pankizol
• Others are 10 cartons of new flip chart board, 51 cartons of lion school chalk, one carton of file.

Kayode, while fielding questions from journalists, stated that the seizure was made following a tip off from informants and urged the public to emulate such patriotism and forward valuable information to the Service.

He added that two suspects are in custody and thorough investigation is ongoing.

He praised the doggedness and preparedness of officers and affirmed that the Unit under his watch will nip the affairs of smugglers in the bud.

An alleged notorious criminal whose specialty is in robbing students of their phones on Campus has been nabbed by vigilant Security Operatives of the Internal Security Unit of the University of Calabar, Cross River state.

The culprit, Daniel Kelechi Christian, a native of Abakiliki in Ebonyi State and Second year student of the Political Science Education Unit of the Department of Social Science Education, University of Calabar was arrested on Friday afternoon at the “ Malabor Republic” of the institution.

Daniel Christian identified by the Security Unit as a Cultist and former Special Assistant (SA) to the immediate past president of the Student Union Government (SUG), has been on the ‘waiting list’of both the Security Unit of the University and the Cross River State Police Command.

Prior to his arrest, Daniel Christian was reportedly involved in the last known cult attack on campus and in an attempt to escape arrest fired gunshot at Security Operatives and unfortunately for him, the locally made pistol exploded inflicting wounds on his left hand nevertheless he managed to scamper for safety.

Daniel who has confessed to be involved in various robbery incidents in the past, on sneaking again into campus was linked with another phone robbery last week.

As at the time of his arrest, he was decked with items suspected to be charms on his waist (odeshi) and 4 magical rings on his fingers.

A man is lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping death following a mishap which occurred on Wednesday, September 12th in Imo state. According to Stephen Chidiebere Anoro from Owerri, Imo state, a portion of the house (the ceiling) fell on his brother while he was in the room but he narrowly escaped the tragedy and came out alive. 

An excited Stephen took to Facebook to share a footage showing aftermath of the incident as he wrote; Friend and friends make una follow me thank God for savings the life of my brother yesterday being 12th September 2018..

Last year, four occupants of a two storey building on Fire Service/Mbaise Road died after the building collapsed at the early hour on Sunday. 

Five other occupants of the building were, however, rescued but they sustained various degrees of injuries.

This is quite shocking... A footage currently trending online shows a family walking totally naked in public. According to media reports, the man, his wife and two children, were seen walking naked on the street of cape town in South Africa, with the women angrily leading the family 'protest'.

The real reason for the family 'protest' could not be ascertained but reports have it that residents who were left shocked by the act - alerted the police authorities who arrived few moments later and took the family into custody.

A member of a cult group, Dindira Yusuf, was Tuesday morning killed by members of a rival group in Bauchi State. According to reports, the cultists trailed the deceased to a E4 resort along Bauchi-Dass road and stabbed him with a knife on the chest severally.

It was further gathered that the deceased was killed over a disagreement during a party organised by some youths in the area.

It was also disclosed that the rival cult group where the deceased belonged, disrupted the burial of the deceased at the Yelwa cemetery.

Members of the group, who attended the burial, were aggrieved over the death of their colleague and insisted that the killer of the deceased must be fished out before the burial.

It took the intervention of security agents who were deployed in the area to restore normalcy and proceed with the burial.

The State Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said that one person was killed in a cult rivalry clash along Bauchi-Dass road in the state capital

He said investigation into the case was ongoing and efforts were on top gear to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

This is quite shameful...A Facebook user was left shocked after spotting officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) carrying out their official duty in a rickety vehicle in Igbo-ukwu town in Anambra state. 

The pick up truck which the road safety officials used for patrolling round the town - appears not be be road worthy, according to the report with some of them sitting on benches in the same vehicle. 

Chidozie AfunwaelotaNna who shared the shocking pictures on Facebook, wrote; 

This is Igbo-ukwu State Federal Road Safety (SFRS) in Anambra state... Patrolling with truck not only that but moving with no sit-belt, no fire extinguisher even the tires of the truck is getting weak and some headlamps and one side mirror is off from the truck while some Staffs are sitting on benches in the same truck etc...

The family of hostage Christian Schoolgirl Leah Sharibu faced another calamity yesterday as her home in Dapchi was broken into and the family’s belongings looted by thieves.

According to the US Nigeria Law group, Leah’s Mother had just returned from dropping her only son (pictured) at school for resumption only to discover the break in and theft of the families property including their generator set and food stuff. It is not immediately clear if Leah’s belongings were also stolen as she herself is in captivity and unable to verify.

Leah Sharibu, the only Christian among the abducted 119 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, is still being held by Boko Haram because she refused to denounce her christian faith.

It will be recalled that in April, the family also suffered bereavement with the loss of Leah’s grandmother’s brother which she remains unaware of being in captivity.

In an unrelated development, the family has disclosed that almost 7 months after her abduction, no government official from local, state or federal tiers has reached out to them over their missing daughter.

This was stated in a Voice of America interview after the release of the proof of life audio.
Ironically in the audio recording, Leah specifically pleaded with the general public to assist her family. The theft of their belongings is exactly the opposite of what she desired.

- We enjoin people of goodwill to support the family at this time
- We urge the government of Nigeria to brief the family on the status of their daughter’s release
- We ask the Christian Association of Nigeria to organize a national love offering for the Sharibus for October 1 Independence Services 
- We commend British MP Tom Brake for jumpstarting the 200 hours vigil to mark 200 days of Leah’s captivity
- We reaffirm our commitment to support the family per Leah’s expressed wishes and are currently undertaking a needs assessment 
- We call on the Victim Support Fund to assist the Sharibu family

A man was arrested by police yesterday after he was seen with a stork bird which they alleged was about to be used for witchcraft. 

The young man was apprehended by plain clothed policemen in Kisoro Municipality, Uganda after he was caught red handed with the long-necked bird.

When asked where he was taking the said bird, he said he was going to rear it.

The officer wasn't convinced thus taking him to Kisoro Police.

Residents in Russia(a surburb in Kisoro Municipality) were reported to have said that such birds have been used by Congolese in neighboring DRC for witchcraft.

Storks are large, long-legged, long-necked wading birds with long, stout bills. They belong to the family called Ciconiidae, and make up the order Ciconiiformes..

A lady has passed away after she was allegedly set on fire by a man (pictured below) whom has since been arrested by the authorities.

According to reports, the suspect identified as Nkosana Prince Mthombeni, allegedly poured paraffin on the lady named Smangele Pearl, said to be his girlfriend before 'setting her on fire'.

The deceased was rushed to the hospital where she battled for her life before finally giving up the ghost.

The incident happened in South Africa. 

A heartbroken Facebook user, Sipho Christian, took to the social media platform on Wednesday, September 5th, to share the report. He wrote; 

This lady right here is my little sister,  Smangele and a few day ago she was admitted to hospital because this coward guy in the picture Nkosana sipho prince mthombeni poured paraffin on her and set her on fire...

today at 2am Smangele Pearl kholeka mnisi Mahlangu died in hospital after suffering huge amounts of agony...nkosana will have the Lord deal with him and I hope he rots in jail for life...RIP Smangele mnisi you're loved.

The National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said the Osun state does not have his kind of money. 

Tinubu, who was recorded during a visit to the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, also said before the first class traditional ruler that the candidate APC is fielding in the forthcoming September 22 gubernatorial election is very rich.

Tinubu, who spoke in Yoruba, was apparently replying critics who accused him of appointing Ajele (Sole Administrator) as governor to oversee his interest and monitor his business in Osun.

Seeking support for the APC governorship candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, Tinubu’s words translates thus: “We would have asked Rauf to continue because he is working very well. But, we now look at your son, who is accomplished, Gboyega Oyetola; we are handing him over to you. He’s a reliable person. He may be quiet, but the sense he has… He’s an encyclopedia of finance.

“He will not take a bribe; he will not steal your money. If he is looking for money, he would have stayed back in Lagos. You’re not as rich as he is in Osun.”

Tinubu said that those who think he wants his candidate to win in order to run his business in the state, that 'Osun does not have his money'. 

Tinubu also said that that he is campaigning for Gboyega Oyetola because he wants to provide jobs for them and create a better future for the children of Osun.
