Sheuns:Please show us where Tinubu said it has dropped to 40%! He may have said it had dropped by 40% and like most Nigerians who speak English but really don’t understand English (including the fuuuul in England who thinks he understands English better than an Englishman and challenged him to a competition) you failed the comprehend and understand the difference between “to 40%” and “by 40%”. |
AustineE1:Please protest and Don’t use it! |
Agbegbaorogboye:Before you come here insulting people, first make sure you have your facts right else you look like a Full! The contract is EPC+F not EPC. The "+F" means the contractor is providing some of the financing for the road, I beleive about 70% of the cost. The reason they need to toll the Lagos segment of the road early is because it is the most traffcked portion and will help the contractor in allaying the financing costs of the road. No one said the Lagos toll alone will pay for the road. I am not responsible for your low IQ! The govt is providing only a portion of the financing of the road, specifically the early stages to get the road going, the rest is from the contractor which means they will have to raise funds via other means like bank financing and carbon credits, being able to toll economically viable portions of the road early makes it easier to get the financing required. Imbe cile! |
Angelfrost:only a poorly educated person with poor english comprehension will disagree with someone and then make a comment that actually confirms what the person said. By the way it is not 45% according to NBS it is 92%, according to businessday they say it is 76% either way the vast majority of Nigerian activities are in the informal sector and participants dont pay income tax. I said income tax before another victim of our failed educational system jumps into my mention talking nonsense. If you had stopped to use your brain before posting you would have realised you are talking nonsense. Even the Federal govt has a total workforce of 1.1m. States together maybe another 1m, Dangote big as it is only employs 40,000 people, a bank as big as Zenith only employs 7,000 people, MTN only employs 2.000 people. So who are the formal sector enterprises that are employing Nigerians? Most Nigerian economic activity is in the informal sector and the vast majority of them are 1 man businesses who do not pay INCOME TAX.. VAT, LG tax, etc and other taxes legal or illegal is not the same as Income tax! https://businessday.ng/technology/article/informal-sector-accounts-for-76-7-of-nigerias-workforce-report/ According to NBS, "In Q3 2023, Nigeria's informal sector employed 92.3% of the workforce. This represents a slight decrease from the 92.7% reported in Q2 2023. The informal sector also accounts for a larger share of employment in rural areas (97.2%) compared to urban areas (87.5%). Additionally, women are more likely to be employed in the informal sector than men. " Your plumber, you electrician, mechanic, spareparts dealer market trader, market wholesaler, farmer, wholesaler in Tejousho market etc etc many of them make as low as 500k and up to multiple millions a month...they dont pay income tax. As your mechanic, plumber etc is charging you 20k for labour so also he is charging another 3 or 4 people that same day...before you know what he has made 20-100k in a day or 400k-2m in a month. A low level mechanic who makes only 10k a day makes more than a professor or permanent secretary. No professors or civil servant earn up to them but they pay income taxes because they are captured in the formal sector wheras all these informal sector workers dont. |
chicfarmer:Oga we are talking about income tax! Please why are Nigerians like this! |
amnesty should focus on the abuses in the west. |
chicfarmer: SarkinYarki: SarkinYarki:what he meant is income tax! the reality is if truly most Nigerians are poor then they not will fall into the income tax bracket a more accurate statement from the chairman should have been most Nigerians ELIGIBLE for income tax payers do not actually pay income tax. All these mechanics, spare parts dealers, traders and even farmers dont pay income tax and many of them make millions a year. |
iwaeda:Should they wait until the entire road is complete before it users are allowed to use it? For those with a brain. The rest of the road is to be financed with the tolls from the Lagos section. So the quicker it is “commissioned” and tolled the quicker the rest of the road is completed! Government is not paying for the whole road! |
Who is this Akpi? |
jaxxy:I didn’t say it was through legal means. I said he had enough money to acquire such an estate even before he became CBN governor. He just got greedy and ambitious once he became CBN governor! That estate in its current state is worth about $100m. $100m is 10% commission on $1b of official forex allocation or $100m of roundtripping through his bank in 1 yr. The estate is peanuts in relation to his real crimes. |
malali:You don’t even think right! Is he the only one accused of corruption? Why is he the one in jail? Try and use your brain when you comment! Those who have backing and godfathers walk free while they fight corruption charges. If you are in jail in Nigeria, it means you have no backing or your backers have deserted you or you have no leverage on the people who matter! Buhari warned all of them you will all answer for any corruption and you will all bear your father’s names! Name me one powerful politician who served 2 yrs in detention and wasn’t convicted. Even Ibori was walking free, if not for the UK. |
jaxxy:Emefiele was not a poor man even before he became CBN governor. He was a deputy MD/mD at on of the top banks for almost 13 years. Forex round tripping in 1yr is enough to make him the money to build that estate. The problem is he became greedy and got involved in all sorts some of which according to Adeyeye cannot be revealed! |
malali:You are delusional. The estate is nothing, like I said he can build that estate as a former MD of Zenith bank. It is peanuts! Put it this way: do you hear anybody fighting or speaking up for Emefiele! He has no godfathers! No human rights group, no opposition group, no tribal group, no press or OAPS……nobody! The man is toast! His biggest error was the Naira swap! No one man has ever incurred the wrath of a whole country such that no one cares and the man he was targeting is now also the president! |
malali:Either way, Emefiele will not see his bedroom under this administration. Like I said if you truly had seen the interview and heard what Buhari said to Adeyeye. The o Lu thru g that should be on your mind is what exactly has this man been up to. Whatever it is, it is big and as far as Emefiele is concerned the worst possible Person is in power! |
malali:Emefiele has no Godfathers. Of anything he was a pawn! If he does they can’t help him in this administration. Plus he actively tried to sabotage the current president. He is not getting away with anything! Don’t forget he was arrested almost immediately the administration came into power. He is going down. This. Is personal! Ofcourse he owns more than the estate what is the point of that information? Even his position at Zenith bank is enough to give him the means to acquire enough wealth to acquire an estate of that magnitude so again I don’t know the relevance of that to the topic! Between Emefiele Diezani and Abacha, I am not sure who is the biggest looter in our history! |
malali:You’ve watched too many movies. If he had any leverage he wouldn’t be in jail! People who truly have leverage may be arrested but they are released because of what they know or who they can bring down! Google the interview of former senator Adeyeye, where he revealed how he came to beg him for help when Buhari became president. Emefiele was looting even Before Buhari came to power. If anything it is the government that knew what Emefiele’s bodies were buried! https://diasporadigitalmedia.com/senator-adeyeye-reveals-emefieles-fearful-encounter-with-powerful-figures/ “He recounted how Emefiele unexpectedly visited him at a hotel, appearing extremely nervous and shaken. The senator said he was surprised by Emefiele’s fearful demeanor. According to him, the former CBN governor looked terrified and could barely control his emotions. Adeyeye asked Emefiele what was wrong. Emefiele confided that some powerful individuals were after him. The senator pressed further, asking why these people were pursuing him. Emefiele disclosed that he had given these individuals a large amount of money. Despite paying them, he still felt threatened and unsafe. Senator Adeyeye was deeply concerned by Emefiele’s distress. He compared Emefiele’s trembling to that of a jellyfish. Adeyeye advised him to report the matter to the police. Emefiele refused, insisting that he could not involve law enforcement. The senator found Emefiele’s refusal puzzling. He asked why a person in his position would be so afraid. Emefiele provided no clear explanation for his fear. Adeyeye was left wondering about the true power of those threatening him.” If you watch the video, according to Adeyeye, when he finally took him to see Buhari, Buhari told Adeyeye “never reveal what you just told me to anybody.” Meaning whatever Emefiele was involved in and told Buhari was so bad that it was a threat to national securitt. So if anyone what’s leverage or knows where bodies are buried it is the govt not Emefiele! I urge you to watch the video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsfoNyWGbPY?si=y3FPtd_2mFj68sOQ |
When the story first broke about the estate, he denied he was the owner! |
TonyeBarcanista:No I believe his conduct is perfectly in order. My comment about integrity was not directed at Anyanwu, just a general comment. |
TonyeBarcanista:by whom? |
gare:The average Nigerian has no integrity from bus driver to business man to lecturer to civil servant to senators. . Leaders and politicians are simply a subset of the people. Like I always say, they are not aliens! You can’t give what you don’t have. |
I have said it many times that PDP’s fundamental problem is that it isn’t and was never a Democratic Party. It was basically the preferred vehicle for the military to transform into civilian rule. It operated with that military authoritarian mentality which was fine so long as it was in power. It maintained its grip on power via unbridled rigging. Unfortunately for PDP, it seemed to get high on its own supply and started electoral reforms forgetting that writing results was the source of its power. As a result, since electoral reforms started, their votes have been dwindling…states like Rivers that would declare votes of 1.7m now struggle to declare N600k votes. As a result of its loss of power, a few of things happened 1) loss of funding to keep the troops in line and finance elections 2) members who would put up with the previous impunity either found their voice and started to resist the anyhowness of the hierarchy or left since there was no more cake to share and 3) since there was no longer a central vault to keep members in line, the few individuals with funds became the new Subsitute Godfathers of the party (Wike, Atiku). It does not know how to be an opposition party because 1j it is an undemocratic party in DNA 2) it really didn’t “work” for for the power it enjoyed in the 1st place ….as I said it was the appointed party of the exiting military establishment of 1999. As such it is still practicing the ways of old. Bode George (a retired military man) the other day talking about the national secretariat issue just reinforced the mindset of impunity that plagues the PDP. Obasanjo, oyinlola, Bode George, David mark, anenih, Babangida, Nyako, Jang, Alamieyesga,Atiku etc etc. You will find many of these founding fathers, party hierarchy were ex military or ex-services men with the accompanying mindset….A party which they founded or populated the hierarchy can never be democratic. No other political party has such a concentration of ex-services men in their hierarchy. That is what PDP now has to deal with and I hope they do. Nigeria needs a viable opposition to keep APC in check not the kind of scaly wags in LP or the so called coalition of bufffooonery. |
What Exactly Is Happening In This Ogun State?
ideatoprince18: Sultty:Industrial machine disasters can only happen in places that have industrial machine I.e industries. If there are no factories in your state how can this kind of thing happen there? |
Penguin2:Oga it is just protocol as a former governor and minister. Do you think Amaechi threatens anybody? Even when he was governor and controlled PDP machinery in Rivers how many votes was he able to deliver for Buhari? Talk less now! As a sitting governor, Amaechi as part of the 2015 coalition was only able to deliver 69,000 votes. PDP 1.6m Amaechi doesn’t threaten anyone, even Atiku is pained he has to settle for Amaechi in Rivers! Amaechi is the weakest link in the coalition. In fact he isn’t a link! |
Celestialsword:At the bottom of your post you wrote source but there is no link to the “source”. A clearly deceptive post to give the impression it is legitimate. FAKE! |
Justnation:First of all there is no source for this so it is likely fake! Secondly, apart from Obi, the people on that list have little or no influence in their zones. As for Atiku, most of his northern votes are PDP votes not his votes. If any thing Peter Obi is the one with the most votes on that list followed by Atiku, the rest are of no consequence! Finally like I said it is very likely fake. |
Dele Babalawo don open mouth again! Alatenuje! |
Gotocourt:It would be a very d*mb political move for his son to run as governor while he is still president. People seem to forget about HMO, his principal private secretary. Long term Tinubu boy and protege! |
jmoore:Obi can never win a presidential election in Nigeria. Wooing him as a VP with no powers to capture the Ibo vote is different from supporting him him to become president with executive powers. |
Seyi is not contesting, I don’t like Gbaja, of the 3 listed, I’d prefer Obasa though my choice would be Tokunbo Wahab. |
Never has such a fundamentally dishonest man been projected into our political space! There are bigger crooks, no doubt, so many but they don’t pretend to be saints! So manipulative, so dishonest, so fraudulent! It has simply clearly dawned on him from negotiations that he will never president and that the coalition just want to use him and that they won’t honour any agreement to make him president in the event that Atiku wins. |
