It's nice to know that you've done your research. It's possible to get your PR before the 18 months elapse by simply starting off your PR application using the guides on this thread even before you leave Nigeria. You'd be making a big mistake if your sole means of PR is the hope that an employer would sponsor you. I and few others on the thread first moved to Australia on 476, and now we are already permanent residents while few are closing in on that. For those I knew that started the PR process asap, it took 1yr maximum, with mine being the longest so far owing to my challenge in making band 8 in English. So, fear of getting your PR before the 18 months should be the least of your worries as that completely depends on you meeting the required skilled points; there are no external factors. Please note that the 476 visa is for only Engineering graduates of recognised universities in the accord agreements; Nigerian universities don't fall under this category. So, if you've just completed your degree in a Nigerian university, you won't be eligible unless you know a way around that. However, if your university is an eligible university, then you can apply using the steps outlined on an earlier page of this thread following the link below. https://www.nairaland.com/3053069/general-guide-australian-permanent-resident/21#46882995 If you do not qualify for 476, and are eager to move to Australia, then you should apply straightaway for the PR 189 or 190. You qualify for those. All you need is a minimum of 60 skilled points from your education (possible 15), age (possible 30 if you're 25 - 31yo) and English (possible 20 for band 8 ). Please do NOT ask me how to apply for PR as that's what this thread is fully committed to do. Just read the first 3 pages and you'd find all you need. Amahjosh: 1 Like |

Yes, there is and you're on the right thread. So, read through and post your questions for experts in your field to give you the best guide. I've limited knowledge in the process; my knowledge is mostly limited to Engineering - Chemical and any other general information relating to Australia migration. @mamjaz would be able to help you as she's also a nurse looking to move to Oz. Unfortunately, the 476 visa is targeted to recent Engineering graduates from recognised universities under any of the 3 accord agreements who are younger than 31yo. Cheers Sherman1759: |

You shouldn't have accepted the Engineering Technologist to start with. You're usually given advance notice of of decision, an given the opportunity to change the decision by submitting a new career episode or providing additional documents. This would have been your best chance. I'm not sure you can reassess t last outcome. However, you can reapply i.e. submit a fresh an stronger application which means paying the full assessment fee. Others who have different idea as to how to go about it would reply t you soon. But before that, you should put your mind on the worst case of applying for a fresh assessment which me writing fresh career episodes an providing stronger supporting documents. Depends on the individual. Factors include: Type of job Position you're after Industry you're targeting Your skills and experiences as well as personality Etc All of which would add up to your job search experience and the story you'd tell if asked same. In general, there are hundreds of new jobs across all industries advertised everyday in Melbourne with hundreds of applications received as well. So, your jobwise experience would depend on how favourably you compete with other applicants. Some took days and maybe weeks to get what they're after. Others took months and maybe years. Some have had to make a career shift. Others are still resilient and persistent in the search for something in their field. My experience wouldn't help you much as I'm not sure we have the same profile. But the good news, and main point of interest, is that you'd find loads of opportunities that you'd be tempted to apply for all. However, you should concentrate your efforts on those for which you're most suitable so that you can compete favourably with other applicants. Mcslize: |

Hahaaaa.... Chemical Engineers are now topping the GRANT chart... It almost felt like EEE, IT and Computer were the selling point. Make I rejoice for the many Chemical Engineers moment of fame here And Melbourne is now a top destination even with the bribery of Jamson to pull people to Sydney. Congrats bro. Thanks your Royal Highness for pulling this out... @Bellong: Could you please add this to the first few pages of the thread for easy reference? I must confess, reading through 15 pages lately hasn't been fun, but the thirst for information motivates one to go through every bit so as not to miss any vital information. But I think we can start identifying 5STAR helpful posts and taking them to the FRONT page for easy reference. Royal54: 2 Likes |

As advised by the post before mine, go to the thread in the link above yours and learn about the process. You may be fortunate to be eligible for Permanent Residency, rather than waste your funds on visiting visa. You should be aware that you can't work or study on a visitor visa, and you are not also allowed to stay longer than a period on any given visit. Most importantly, we should all be careful of the sort of information we release to the public. There are many watching this thread, both for good and evil intentions. Stating the amount of money and value of assets you have and are willing to spend in order to achieve your goal would only expose you to potential fraud or scam. People have lost their entire savings this way in pursuit of university admissions and visas. Follow the threads, read the posts, and post any questions you have. Someone would always respond. You don't have to tell us what you're willing to spend. Rather, you can ask or find out what it would cost you to get the visa, and then you can compare with what you have to spend and decide if it's something you can do. We are a family here, helping one another with information. We are not migration agents, and would not charge you any fee or ask you for any deposit payments. You'd be responsible for it. You'd do the application yourself and make all payments directly yourself. If you're not confident enough to Do It Yourself, then you may choose to speak to a migration agent in person and ask for help. Don't expose yourself to SCAM, YAHOO, FRAUD, and the likes... So, tomorrow you won't blame it on the devil for being duped. Modify your post and delete that account balance thingy. I'm sure you'd soon start receiving nicely constructed emails, if you've not already received one, posing to be in positions to help you achieve your migration dreams without stress... Be Warned! They're all scam coming after your account balance. Best Wishes. cc: Bellong stjsd: 11 Likes |

Hello Taofiq, I'm sorry for the delay in response to your query. But I see @4mula22 has responded correctly. Firstly, congratulations on your visa grant, and I'm happy to know that you've sorted things out and now ready to make the move. We all had that bit of hesitation to make the move. To further support what 4mula22 has said, YES you can travel with ONE-WAY and the reason he gave for this is valid. Also, there's an International Organisation for Migration (IOM) that can help you with your flight bookings. Their rate has been agreed to be fairly cheap considering the comfort of flying with Emirates. I'm in Melbourne, and there are also quite a few Nigerians here. In my experience, the best places to easily meet up with Nigerians are at religious gatherings such as churches and mosques. You can also find them in schools, campuses, etc but that wouldn't be places you'd go normally. For the PR, there's actually no pursuit per say. It's left to us to get what it takes to get the PR. Just as with your 476 visa, it's pretty a straightforward process with requirements to be met. I moved to Australia about a year ago, and focused immediately on getting my PR. Thanks to the team on the link below, I now have my PR. Through the process, my only challenge was English as I had to take an English test 5 times before getting the vital band 8 for my case. Go to the thread below and learn about the PR process so you can prepare and gather all relevant documents before arrival. It's a happy family with loads of experienced followers, so be sure to ask questions by posting on the thread. And don't forget to also contribute when you can... https://www.nairaland.com/3053069/general-guide-australian-permanent-resident Wish you all the best in your preparations, and safe journey to Oz. Hi, We've got a link on this thread to sample CDRs which all got positive EA assessments. I don't have the exact page number in my head, but I'm sure someone can help save you the time by directing you to the exact page if it's not already on the first pages of the thread. While you hope for that, I advise you to start search the thread for the link. You'd be glad you did as you'd come across a lot of vitalking information. zuriel234: |

Hahaaa, Abeg no go there oh. Me sef no know how e happen... When it comes to PTE and IELTS, We've got band 9 candidates in the house who have also proved to be good tutors to many... Pls contact them for first hand assistance. @Bnimz @Jamson @Chidike @Mctowel01 And not forgetting our own Honorable, @mamajaz The list goes on. For mine, I had to change strategy as advised by many. So, instead of speaking clearly, pronouncing clearly, making pauses at commas and full stop, etc which were the popular strategy, I just went with speaking uniterruptedly fast and even had to mimic the tone of newscasters, lol. I was someone else for 40mins of the test oh; even Bnimz said he had to use a lady's voice, lol. You also need to have an emergency strategy for questions you have no clue of; NAVJOT BRAR on Youtube currently has the best emergency strategy. Whichever works for you, go for it. But you can't know until you test it. Hence, the Gold scored practice test... praiseisgood: 4 Likes |
