Hi, I'm afraid I might be the wrong person you're contacting for PTE as my experience in getting band 8 wasn't somewhat of an interesting one, needing 3 attempts including a demoralising 49 in speaking. There are many here who made all 90 at first attempt, and I'm sure they should be your best help. However, I'm happy to help in any way I can. Bamz: |

I've been here 11 months and it's been great so far. Yet to get something in my field, quite challenging with the 476 but not impossible. I'm not sure what you meant by semi-skilled jobs, but I was able to survive on menial jobs in my first months here. Got a better job at the start of the year, but still tryna get something in my field (Chemical Engineering) or related. It depends on individual lifestyle. Yes, the pay is good enough to live comfortably. However, comfort is relative and needs to be put in perspective. Yes, there are possibilities of staying back; Apply for Permanent Residency by following the steps and guides on this thread which is what I've done or Get an employer that needs your skills to sponsor you. nenye994: |

Hello, I'm sorry for the delay in response; I've been away since my last comment. Thanks for sharing the actual content of the mail. I've highlighted the key points noted by the assessor. Again, I believe it would have been avoided by making reference to Chem Engr CDRs that have received positive assessment outcomes. It's obvious that the issue was your Career Episodes; your 5 years of study is suitable for assessment as Professional Engr but you've not been able to convince the assessor in your CE. So, yes, I agree with you; you need to write another one or two CE. This time ensure that you're spot on. Don't forget to notify the assessor of your intentions to submit another Career Episode(s) as I believe a decision may be made after a period from when you received the notification from the assessor. What school did you graduate in? Your course should be accredited.... What's the duration of the course? 5yrs preferred for Prof Engr in NG... It's a bit hard to advise on this as the assessor didn't say anything as to why they came to that conclusion rather than the vague feedback. I've read about a similar case but on that occasion, the assessor advised the applicant to submit one more Career Episodes that clearly demonstrates the competencies of a Chem Engr. It's quite unfortunate that these days you have just one opportunity to respond. So, you need to go through the content of the mail and any attachment to be sure that you haven't missed out any requested information. If that's the case, then I'd advise you reply the assessor asking for clarifications on what steps to take to change the outcome. Usually, you should have the opportunity to submit additional documents or write another Career episode(s). Your case seems unique. Finally, since you've been a follower of this thread, I hope you took advantage of the many Chemical Engineer CDRs available here to ensure that you completely demonstrated and outlined your Chem Engr competencies in your CE and Professional Engr Summary. Making reference to those would help you avoid situations such as this. Also, having someone critique your work has proven to be helpful. Don't be too worried, try to respond asap otherwise a decision might be made on the outcome of your application. Best Wishes, Nwobosi: 1 Like |

If you're applying to EA; No, all they require is for you to upload good quality (minimum 300dpi but 600dpi is advised) scanned colour copies of all supporting documents which include your transcript and certs. For other assessing bodies, someone would comment. Pipsbasketings: |

Unless I'm missing something here; the main interest is your Bachelors Degree; So, changing your MSc course may not necessarily have an effect on your assessment and eventual application. EA assessment is based mainly on a bachelors degree which is expected to have been completed with 4yrs or more modules. As an example, I've my first degree in Chemical Engineering and had my masters in a Petroleum Specialty course, but was successfully assessed as a Chemical Engineer, So, the basic information you should be sharing here is what degree do you already have that would account for the required 4+ years of studies as a Masters degree doesn't meet the criteria since it's 2yrs of studies? That, in my opinion, would determine what your assessment outcome would be. For EA, masters degree is only assessed as further learning and also adds to your CPD... For other assessing authorities, your work experience, if any, may make up for your studies, But I doubt if this is the case for EA. With many suggesting you should apply for a change of course, I've become confused if I'm missing something out and so may need to refresh myself on the subject. But I'd reckon your MSc doesn't have that huge impact; say your first degree is in a course that's not on the list and you complete your msc in a course on the list, you still won't get positive assessment outcome from EA. Don't take this too strongly as I may be wrong pending verification. If your case is a bachelors degree that's not on the list, then you may have to consider obtaining an equivalent bachelors... Many do it, but not so recommended considering the cost, time and uncertainties... Good luck! jackson2dye4: |

This one tire me; 15 mails to 3 different email addresses and even called? I was almost typing "call them" before reading the last line, LOL. It'd have been easier if you're in Nigeria as the direct contacts of those handling the bookings are available. You'd have to try to get the private contact of someone handling your route. Pending that, you just have to keep trying... Bnimz: |

I'd say it's case specific. It'd depend on available and queue at the time. In my case, about a year ago, I responded over 3wks after and was lucky the price was still locked in for me though the flight was changed. When I got the first quote, I wasn't quite sure about IOM as no one had mentioned it on this thread at the time. So I went on doing some verifications while looking for alternative means. Then, the Naira flotation; a flight I booked for 320k on Friday was cancelled by Sunday night since I didn't finalise payment, and by the time I tried to rebook same flight on Tuesday morning after hearing the news of flotation the cost has risen to 560k. I immediately contacted IOM and still pulled through for 205k but my fingers were crossed until I received the booking confirmation and ticket email In summary, you may still be able to get the booking after the duration you listed as mine was after 3 weeks, but you can only be sure if you make the payment on time as the flight maybe fully booked by the time you're ready to pay. No stress though, just call them if you feel you've delayed the payment to ensure that the booking is still valid before making the payment. Cheers. mctowel01: |

No worries mate! Yes a reference letter should be enough if you're putting it in as Internship. For NYSC, please attach your discharge certificate in addition to the reference letter. Regards. Cottyekundayo: |

Hello, I'd reckon you fill it in as relevant work experience. It doesn't really affect your application for as much as you're not claiming work experience. In my case, I didn't write any episode using my NYSC experience. However, I filled it as relevant employment. Also, one of my career episodes was based on my internship experience, and that too was selected as relevant experience. So, yeah, you can fill it in as a relevant experience. My comment is based on the fact that you're not assessing your work experience as well because if you're, then filling this as relevant experience may require submitting additional evidence. I recall only submitting reference/attestation letter for my internship. Cottyekundayo: |

This is WRONG please. Edit your post above and remove those emails. Refer to Vinsmuft's post and follow suit. Ask those in need of the emails to PM you and send the email addresses to them. This is a public domain and must be treated as such. Posting personal details here gives it easily to Web crawlers who indulge in spamming. IOM has a special email address for this purpose on their website. You can freely share that rather than give out individual's email addresses. sesal: 5 Likes |

I applied onshore. So, I didn't have to bother about means of payment. However, many has advised that we get a dorm account and fund it with FX from black market. That's currently the best solution so far on the thread. AbaGuyMan: |
