Hey sis,

sad to read, but based on the bold, I see you now have all the required documents.
So, when are we reapplying? grin

We've been patiently waiting for your Oz landing oh; me wan come finish your food stuff wink
so no relenting, no time to take a breather; gear up asap and let's go.

APHRA will get same testimony like IELTS...

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel where Grace abounds!
Don't let the momentary challenges weigh you down...

God has said "YES" even before you thought of migration...

Best wishes.

mamajaz:

AHPRA actually wanted some docs from me, about four. I was able to get three, but my professional body ( Nursing and Midwifery council Nigeria) couldn't get a sheet of paper signed from 11th September till 19th October.

To make matters worst, I got the letter few hours after my application was withdrawn.

May God "say yes" to our migration dreams.

This thread is for a different purpose than what your inquiry is.
It's for life/experience of living in Oz, and not for how to migrate.

So, let's not derail.
Thanks.

For 476, you dont need a job. It's for recent engineering graduates to come to Oz and gain work experience.
You need to have completed an engineering degree within the last 2yrs from a recognized university under the accord agreements.

I have no idea about 457.

Cheers!

Hi,

In addition to what Zany has said;

Based on your degree and duration of study, you're very likely to be assessed positively as a Professional Engineer.
However, this greatly depends on how strong your CDR is because even those with 5yr engineering degree still get assessed as Technologist due to below par CDRs.

Please take advantage of every opportunity available to you;
Get in touch with @Jamson @McTowel01 @Bnimz et al for proper guidance on your best option and fastest route to PR.
They all have same degree as you and were assessed positively.

Your choice of occupation shouldn't be based merely on your experience but most importantly on the occupation for which you stand a better chance of receiving ITA. You need to compare Telecoms Engr and Electronics Engr in terms of Competitiveness and go with whichever one that can guarantee you ITA asap with 65 points. You can prepare your career episodes from your undergraduate projects and possibly complete it with your NYSC experience.

Please DON'T use any project from work experiences that you can't support with adequate documentary evidence.

It's great to know you can get 20 points from English. So, you're already more than half way to PR.

Career Episode is just a concise report on a project you completed in your nominated or closely related occupation.

CDR is a Competency Demonstration Report; it's an assessment pathway for degrees that don't fall under any of the accord agreements.
To submit a complete CDR, you'd need
Three (3) Career episodes
One (1) Professional Engineer Summary
A Resume
in addition to all supporting documents and proof of ID.

victree4:

I have a b.eng in elect/elect here in Nigeria and I specialized in the electronics option @ final year. It's a 5 years course. SINCE IT days and post-graduation, my career his been facing the telecommunications sector. I am able to get 20 points from English exam so I'm not claiming points for experience. And again, I will be able to write a very good cdr on the telecommunications field I have little experience on (fiber-to-the-home) or FTTH for short. So I'm nominating telecommunications network engineer which requires a professional engineer assessment from EA.

Important

For those sending PM,
I've responded to all your PM requests but some of bounced back with delivery failure notifications.
So, if you haven't heard back from me, that's probably the reason.
However, you're better off posting your inquiries here.

At all...
I'm happy to connect with anyone outside this thread but only for networking purposes and not for the purpose of Migration inquiries.
I'm more comfortable responding to migration inquiries on the thread so that others can review my comments and make any corrections or add any omissions rather than I giving out misleading information that may have a huge impact on your progress.

Cheers!

You're most likely to be assessed as a professional engineer since you had a 4yrs study in addition to your 2yrs OND study.
As you used the OND pathway to gain direct entry, you'd have to state that you skipped the 1yr based on recognition of your prior learning by the university. So, you need to attach both your OND and HND transcripts.

I'm certain you'd be fine as a professional engineer based on your route and years of study.
All that's left is a convincing CDR backed by well-written career episodes...
Please remember to state "Recognition of Prior Learning".

Yahwehgbemi:

Please what are my chances as I have an OND which I used to enter for Direct Entry into an Engineering course in a University where I eventually spent 4 years to finish? On the MSA for EA, the requirement is Bachelors of 4 years in an Australian University.

Pls I look forward to your responses?

Thanks Zany for the clarification.

To whom it may concern...

zanyzara:

To go the TRA way, you don't have to assess with EA before you can claim points for highest education level.

You're welcome mate.

You've made the right decision to pursue your PR immediately.

Because you had your bachelors degree in the UK which was most certainly for a duration of 4yrs or less, EA would assess you as an Engineering Technologist. Few friends of mine have gone this path. For EA to assess you as a Professional Engineer, you'd need a 5yr degree or a "4yr UK bachelors degree + a masters degree".

You'd get 15 points from being assessed as any of Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer.
The critical consideration is the competitiveness of the occupation.
At the moment, Engineering technologist is not a good outcome as it's very competitive and you'd need over 70points to be sure of ITA anytime soon.
The better option would have been a Professional Electronics Engineer which I'm afraid you're unlikely to get with only a UK bachelors degree.

For this option, if you don't want to assess your experience, you must make up the points by achieving band 8 Score in your English.

You also have the option of assessing your OND through TRA.
But for this, you require at least 1yr experience in a role related to your occupation.

The better but costly option is to do both assessments (EA and TRA).
Use the TRA assessment to enter your EOI for a less competitive occupation,
but use EA assessment to claim 15 points for highest education level of bachelors degree.
Depending on your years of related experience, band 7 in English might suffice.
The friend I referred to use this option.

Hello mate,
I recently got here on the same visa and would like to start the process of securing the PR asap. Please some heads up will be great. I had my HND in electronics and Electrical engineering before I proceeded to the UK for my top up degree. What will I be assessed for? I'd there any need to put forward my experience?

Hi,

please post your question on the thread below to get a better response from more experienced members.

https://www.nairaland.com/3053069/general-guide-australian-permanent-resident

The thread provides a complete guide to the process of applying.

It also boasts of active members who respond to confusing questions you face.

You'd need to state how you arrived at 50 points before anyone can suggest other options.

Yes, there are assessment bodies that must assess your qualification before you can use it for the skilled migration.
But I'm not sure which one assesses Microbiology.
So, you'd have to visit the thread above and ask there.

CDR means Competency Demonstration Report.

Cheers!

abdullahi45:

After using the skilled migration calculator, i only have 50 points which 60 is the minimum i guess... What can I do?

Chemical Engineer is an occupation of its own, and doesn't fall under the said occupation.
It's not on pro-rata and hardly ever does.

Refer to the occupation ceiling tab on the skillselect webpage to see the clear difference.

No.

The link below often confuses many, but refers only to specific visa subclasses for which you'd be told what the first and second payments would be and when to pay them.

https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees/explanation-of-visa-application-charges

This doesn't apply to you.

You need to make a full payment at the time of applying.

Cheers.

Hi,

I saw your connection request.
However, for some reasons unknown to me, I've been unable to successfully reply to requests as I keep getting the Failure Notification.

Please do not get yourself confused by mixing things up.

The comment you quoted was for a different visa subclass - 476 Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa.

And those criteria do not apply to any of the Permanent Residency visas which are being discussed here.

So, you need to be clear what visa you intend applying for.

Based on the profile you shared; a 2013 Engineering graduate is not eligible for the 476 visa subclass which is intended for recent (within 2years) Engineering graduates. However, there's the option of Permanent Residency visa which you're eligible for.

Try to be a bit clear with your inquiry, and you may get better response/advice from more experienced forumites.
You don't have to contact me directly. Everyone here is helpful and would be happy to respond to you.

Thanks.

Hi,

the minimum cut off all occupations is 60.

However, the current point for invitation for your occupation is 65 at the moment which still requires a long wait.

You can apply for 190 though which would increase your point to 65.

Actual Visa Fee:

You: A$3600
Your spouse: A $1800

Medical Fee: about A$400 each, actual exchange rate depends on your lcoal panel physician.

PCC: NGN3500+

Yes, you can use your OND.
Your experience starts counting from OND for trade qualifications.

You'd also need to pass an English test (A$330)

You need to research on the requirements for electrical; I heard they're very strict with the codes and standards.

Hopefully, those in your field who has successfully gone through to receiving their grants would respond with a better info.

Cheers
