Some who believe in predestination reason basically as follows: God is omniscient. He knows everything, even what is going to happen in the future. He knows what each person is going to do with his life, and he already knows the exact moment and manner of each person’s death. So, according to their thinking, when the time comes for an individual to make a decision, his choice cannot be other than the way God has foreseen and foreordained it; otherwise, God would not be all-knowing. Does this reasoning seem sound to you? Consider what its logical consequences would be.

If some force has already determined your future, then trying to take care of yourself is useless. Choosing to smoke or not to smoke would make no difference to your health or that of your children. Wearing a seat belt while riding in an automobile would have no effect on your safety. But this is faulty logic. Statistics show that people who take precautions suffer fewer fatal consequences. Carelessness can result in tragedy.

Consider another line of reasoning. If God chooses to foreknow everything, then even before he made Adam and Eve, he would have known that they would disobey him. But when God told Adam that he must not eat from “the tree of the knowledge of good and bad” or he would die, did God already know that Adam would eat from it? (Genesis 2:16, 17) When God told the first couple: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth,” did he know that their wonderful prospect of life in a paradise was doomed to failure? Of course not.—Genesis 1:28.

Taken to its logical conclusion, the idea that God foreknows all decisions would mean that he is responsible for all that happens—including wars, injustices, and suffering. Is that possible? A clear answer is provided by what God says about himself.

“You Must Choose”

The Scriptures state that “God is love” and that he is “a lover of justice.” He has always urged his people: “Hate what is bad, and love what is good.” (1 John 4:8; Psalm 37:28; Amos 5:15) On numerous occasions he encouraged his loyal ones to choose a virtuous course. For example, when Jehovah concluded a covenant with the ancient nation of Israel, he said to them, through Moses: “I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring.” (Deuteronomy 30:19) Did God establish ahead of time the choice that those individuals would make? Evidently not.

Joshua, a leader of God’s people in ancient times, exhorted his countrymen: “Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve . . . As for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah.” (Joshua 24:15) Similarly, God’s prophet Jeremiah said: “Obey, please, the voice of Jehovah in what I am speaking to you, and it will go well with you, and your soul will continue to live.” (Jeremiah 38:20) Would a just and loving God encourage people to do right in the hope of receiving a reward if he knew that they were destined to fail? No. Such encouragement would be hypocritical.

So when good or bad things happen in your life, it is not because these events are inevitable. Very often, ‘unforeseen occurrences’ are simply the consequences of other people’s decisions—whether wise or unwise. (Ecclesiastes 9:11) No, your future is not planned out before you, and your own decisions determine what your everlasting future will be.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

▪ Did God decide ahead of time that Adam and Eve would sin?—Genesis 1:28; 2:16, 17.

▪ What qualities of God rule out predestination?—Psalm 37:28; 1 John 4:8.

▪ What responsibility do you have?—Joshua 24:15.
This is an issue I have with so many of you. PLAGIARISM! Taking another persons intellectual property rights and then trying to pass it off as your own. Would it defeat your point of argument if you admitted that this whole post was lifted from a Jehovah witness website? It is amusing that while copying and pasting the whole article you fraudulently removed the source and copyright owners name at the beginning and the end of the article?

This is the link from where this epistle was plagiarized:-

If you really don't 'feel anything' then simply answer the question and we move on.

You have an overactive imagination it seems. I didn't 'come at you' in any way, and I don't understand why you would feel bullied by a mere question there. I simply asked a question so I can better understand what you refer to as freewill there.
Madam
You are a busy body and you can't make or force me to tell you what freewill is if you don't know in relation to this thread.
Stop behaving like a headmistress trying to bully her pupil. We have been having a normal discussion on this thread before you burst into the place in your usual bombastic manner demanding that you be answered. Learn something today nobody owes you any answers here.

I don't feel anything. The way you came at me demanding I tell you the meaning of freewill was headmistress like. Your online personae comes across like a busy body. Jumping from thread to thread without comprehension of what is being discussed. I will not be bullied by you or anyone else.

And I am telling you you can't burst in on a thread with all guns blazing demanding I tell you the meaning of freewill as if you are a headmistress and I am your pupil.
Go back and start the thread slowly from the beginning if you do not know what freewill means.
Or you might like to apply the use of a dictionary. I emphasize again madam,if you don't know what freewill means then I can't be of help to you.

I asked a question in order that I may gain an understanding of what is indeed being discussed. Is there something about my asking questions that irks you as well?

Like I said, there are different schools of thought as far as freewill is concerned. So it makes sense that I first find out what exactly you mean by freewill. before I attempt to add to the discussion, does it not? undecided
And I am advising to calm down and go back to the beginning of the thread and read the posts one by one very slowly so that you can comprehend what is being discussed. You don't just come flying out of nowhere as is your forte and then start asking questions like a headmistress. Nobody is your pupil here madam.

Like I said before, madam,if you don't understand what is meant by freewill I am afraid I cannot help you or a better thing is for you to calm down and read the thread from the beginning. Then you wouldn't need to jump into the thread half way and be asking me the meaning of freewill when it has been glaringly discussed throughout the thread.

Caveatemptor.

I've been searching for a video of my aunt for ages but I've had no luck. Our discussion inspired me to search for a picture instead and I found a picture of her in a 1969 edition of Daily Times that was posted online.

I sent it to my brother and I told him that someone called her Ekaette. He tried to remind me that Ekaette was a different person and that she was Bassey Okon's niece, while my aunt (Fathia Okon) was his daughter.

However, I can remember my aunt in the show quite well, but I still don't remember any Ekaette. Do you remember the name of the actress that played the part of Ekaette?
First off I must say it is so sad you cannot get much information on line about this programme.
As I remember it in the beginning of the Village headmaster there was Ted Mukoro as the headmaster. Elsie Olusola as Sisi Clara, his wife. Jab Adu as Bassey Okon. And a lady who played his daughter Ekaette.
This was the original cast. Any other actor or character was a later addition to the cast.
Unfortunately non of these videos of the first few episodes can be found.
I don't dispute that there might have been a Fathia Okon as a later addition to the programme but Fathia was definitely not the name of Bassey Okons daughter when the programme started as I recall it.
CelebritiesRe: Jimmy Johnson 'Okoro' Is Dead by Caveatemptor(m): 11:00am On Jul 09, 2020
naptu2:
I suspect that you remember the 2 of them. You are correct, Okoro was the owner of the patent medicine store and usually sneezed after taking his snuff, but the person with the moustache was Dr Bassey Okon. Bassey Okon (Jab Adu) was the first owner of the store, then Okoro took it over and then Boniface took it over from Okoro.
Nice write up as usual but on this one you have a few errors.

1. Initially the patent shop was run by Bassey Okon and his daughter Ekaette.
2. When the actor who played Ekaette left the show,Boniface was brought in as Bassey Okon's apprentice in the patent shop.
3.When Bassey Okon left the show Okoro became the patent shop owner with Boniface as his apprentice.
4. When Okoro left the show Boniface now became the patent shop owner.

I hope my memory is correct. wink

RomanceRe: What Happened Between My Girlfriend And My Mother by Caveatemptor(m): 5:08am On May 18, 2020
funkmrflexx:
We Have Been Dating For 1 Year and 6 months now. I’ve met her parents, we wanted to get married last year but her dad told me to wait till she finishes school which is supposed to be next year. I’m 25 years old and she’s 22 .

I live alone in the city while my mom lives in the village. My younger sister who I’m sponsoring through school sometimes comes to my place during holidays and weekends. My girlfriend practically lives with me because she comes from a type of an Abusive family. So she lives with me and I even assist her with school fees and house rents sometimes. I’ve spent even more than her father for her school.

Everyone In my family knows her and she’s a very wonderful girl. Typical wife material. She supports me every time even when I’m broke. I’m not the type of guy that dates a lot of girls . I don’t even cheat on her. Since I met her I’ve done away with a lot of ladies. I’m 100% committed to the relationship

But the problem is that she Has very bad anger issues. I mean she can destroy your property when she’s angry and I’m the quiet type. I don’t like hitting a lady execpt once in a while a general brain resetting slap. When she starts she doesn’t listen to anyone. Not me, not even her parents. So anytime she’s angry like this I will just find a way to make her laugh. Both of you can just be eating and she will get angry if you ate the fleshy part of the meat and left oily part for her (we have quarreled because of that I mean serious quarrel) . Sometimes I get tired of the whole situation. At the end even when she’s wrong I’ll let her for peace to reign. So I try to manage the anger at home so it shouldn’t go out

So we went to visit my mom in the yesterday. Because of curfew we slept over. So my mom bought us mangos this morning and told us to carry.

My girlfriend then said she doesn’t like mango that if I want to eat my mango I should carry it myself. Then my mom (she is the type that always shouts at every body. The real wahala woman) told her that if she can’t carry the mango then she should just put it on my head for me to carry na (If you no fit carry the mango u for kuku put am for e head make e carry am na).

That was the only thing my mom said. Then she sparked. Started shouting at my mom. That she should stop talking to her like that, that she doesn’t like it. In fact she’s going home. So she carried her bag and started going home. Every one in the compound started saying it’s ok (Na dat thing why dem tell u Dey make u Dey vex so) she was still shouting. I was even try to calm her down but no way. She was still shouting. Even my sister who had never seen her angry before became angry (na so you b? She said). I was really disappointed In her

The issue is what even made me angry is how she reacted. If she didn’t like what my mom said made her angry. At least she should have waited till we got home (this was the first time we were both sleeping over) then she would tell me. Or she could have called my sister and told her what my mom said. After all the fracas, she went inside the room till we left. I just told everybody to just leave her.

So when we got home I told her what she did was wrong that she shouldn’t have reacted like that. Na there war start. She started yelling and shouting at me that if my mom talks to everyone like that she won’t take it (my plan was to tell her that she should apologize to her. Because my mom already apologized that she won’t talk to her again like that. Which I know she will o . So we can just forget about the issue. But she never accepts she’s wrong ) She said I took her to my village to intimidate her in front of my family people, I was really angry and called her uncle and told him what happened. He said there was nothing wrong with what my mom told her (If you no fit carry the mango u for kuku put am for e head make e carry am na) and that he would talk to her .

I even scolded my mom before I left that I didn’t like what she said what she did that’s she was just causing issue. My girlfriend said when my mom said the word (If you no fit carry the mango u for kuku put am for e head make e carry am na) that I should have immediately rebuked my mom. But me sef no see anything wrong with what my mom said( If you no fit carry the mango u for kuku put am for e head make e carry am na)

I just Dey follow her uncle advise and leave her be until she calms down and I talk to her

So my people what’s offensive in this word? If you no fit carry the mango u for kuku put am for e head make e carry am na)

But this her attitude don tire me. Break up is not on the card for me at least not yet. She always thinks that they are other guys out there because she has a lot of toasters but I know they can’t do quarter of what I’m doing for her. In this modern time it’s difficult to see a guy who will allow his girlfriend stay with him thereby losing his freedom to do certain things. A guy who doesn’t cheat, a guy who takes care of her does everything for her .

I just think the things she went through in her family is affecting her physiological. And sometimes when I think about leaving her I feel pity because she can’t go back to her parents house.
Quite frankly,I find this story hard to believe because no man can be this docile and no woman can be this deranged but if it is a true story, brother the handwriting is boldly on the wall that this woman is not your wife. However if you choose to ignore all the signs on the wall of this relationship and stubbornly proceed to marry this woman then you are on the road to perdition and perpetual sorrow. You will be very lucky to get out with your life.

Hello guys,

I am excited about this one and happy to share my experience.

I decided to utilize this lockdown well and started my driving lessons.

I have finished the lessons. I learnt both with Automatic and Manual.

Next is registration for Learners permit and buying that L tag.

I was told, I can use the Learners permit for 3 months while processing my driver's license.

I will need advice on insurance. I am aware my company has insurance benefits for car owners, however, I will love to get advice from experienced car owners.

I'm still looking out for a Toyota Yaris (Automatic) to purchase. I was going to purchase a Camry before, but reading the advice here, I will better stick to a Toyota Yaris.

I also need advice or support from any company that helps inspects a car before the purchase is done.

If the pandemic is over, I should be resuming at work in June. I want to resume driving, lol!

Bye-Bye to the daily spending on Uber, Taxify, Indriver, Ocar, Plentywaka, small bus...lol

If anyone has any good deal on a Toyota Yaris, please connect a ready buyer.

Again what will you advise on a Kia Rio (Automatic), 2010 up!
I know you are excited, but I seriously advise you to look very well before you leap.
Do your due diligence before you contact anybody on these boards. By due diligence I mean research any moniker very well before you make contact or pay any money.
A word is enough for the wise and good luck. I would hate to hear any stories that touch the heart about you!
